Oh, Pathmark - my manly, blue-collared friend.  You're not trying to impress me with your artful displays or exotic vegetables, and I respect that.  Surely you realize that citrus can be stacked into shapely pyramids, but you don't give a flying fruit!  You have everything I need, and you don't bother moving it around just to milk an extra dollar out of me.  Also, you're there for me 24 hours a freakin' day - granted, you close off your health and beauty section after about 10, but I realize that this is when the bad guys come out to steal most of their lipstick.  Diet Mountain Dew?  Check.  What else could a girl need?  You're not dazzlingly pretty and most of your employees are happy to be relatively unhappy about their grocery store jobs - I don't care.  Gourmet grocery has its place, but you're the guy I'll call on when my sink is clogged.

While they're not as overpriced as the acme, also not that far behind, they're not any better. They have an awful selection in certain areas such as fruit & veggie selection but since its in my neighborhood I have no choice but to go here.

This PM has come a long way.  Within the last couple years, the store has undergone a much-needed redesign & it now features brighter lighting.  It feels brighter & more spacious in here than ever before.  They also have those nifty self-checkout lanes, although I don't appreciate supermarkets' shifting the checkout work onto the consumer & deviously advertising this as 'convenience.'  Boo on that.

This location may be open 24/7.  They are open on minor holidays and open for at least partial hours on major holidays.  Prices are very reasonable as you'd expect in a working class neighborhood in South Philly.  It's not pretentious, but it's not a crap hole either like it used to be.  I come here when I can snag a ride.  My favorite time to go is late on a weeknight.  It's peaceful like a museum.
