Other restaurants in the area were too busy because of football games and ufc fight, so i ended up here. Service was friendly and on top of things. I shared a san diego pizza and greek salad. Pizza was yummy i love pesto sauce, i got it without onions :) salad was large, breadsticks were just ok.... i feel like the quantity matches the price but quality not so much.

Loved the Greek salad! (No feta)
Loved the bread sticks!!  They were amazing as usual.
The ribs were slightly above average to my preference.
Minestrone soup was very good but I do not like cheese.
    Orange soda was amazing.
The mustard dressing was a little to strong for me but a little bit went a long way.
    We will be coming back.
..Just not before we spend two hours walking around Costco.
..I ate so much I felt like I couldn't even walk.

Carbo-loaded up here before a trip to Legoland.

Come here for the breadsticks. I can't really judge the other food on the menu because I didn't have it, but it seems that the most popular thing to get here is the breadsticks. Buttery and garlicky. Can't go wrong.

I was a little surprised that they charged for dipping sauces but as soon as it was brought to the table, I understood. The sauces come in big ass bowls! We had alfredo sauce and marinara sauce, some of which we mixed together.

Three adults and a toddler put away 12 breadsticks, no problem. Don't get me wrong, it was plenty of food, but I think after the drive from Anaheim, we were a little hungry ;)

I love to take my kids here on Tuesday, when they get to eat for free. Do I love the food? Nah, not really, I am a rice and noodle kind of person. But my kids love the pizza and breadsticks. My younger son loves the salad!

Anyway, I just want to write a review here for one of the employee, Wes. Last night, I had to wait a long time for our order (the kitchen dropped the ball) and he went above and beyond to apologize and made it up for us! This showed that he cares about the customers and it's a rarity nowadays.

I don't understand why there are some here that state there are parking issues as I've never encountered such a problem with that being said, I've been here several times and the food outcome has always been a mixed result.

Sometimes my lemon wings would be undercooked, which is a no bueno given how long I wait for them to be cooked anyways. Sometimes the breadsticks seem overly salty and not enough of that garlicy/buttery taste that is iconic of Pat & Oscars breadsticks.

But this location is pretty spacious so there are never any problems finding a spot. The service can be up and down which adds to their inconsistency. But all of this wont stop me from coming back here again. Hey, its convenient!

I posted in my Quick Tip that this place is not the greatest for food quality, but it is good for families. The group I was with was able to feed 11 people for 53.00 dollars and some change. So, you get what you pay for. Good location to eat at after spending the day at Legoland. Pass it up if you are by yourself (there is a Carl's Jr. half a block away).

If I had to some up this joint in one word - Bleh =P ... I loved Pat & Oscar's, but they closed the one in Encinitas and this location is now the closest. For some reason, my family loves to flock here, my father suggests when he wants to take me out and my sister chose it for her going away dinner. Last night was the second time I've been in the last month and the food hasn't tasted any better between visits.

I used to have lunch here almost once a week a few years back when I worked in the area and almost like clockwork, once a month, one of my co-workers or myself would come to work the next day complaining about how sick we felt the previous night expelling (one way or another) whatever we ate for lunch that day (and yet, we'd always return - I never understood why).

And back to now and the great advancements this place has made in food service since back in the day ... Absolutely none. The quality of food is horrible. The pizza is undercooked, the ribs are overcooked, the chicken is pretty damn greasy for being 'BBQ' and the salads are drowning in dressing ... About .the only thing that they don't screw up here are the breadsticks (thank gawd!).

The only thing that saves this place is the service. The employees are generally quite attentive and helpful (if you're having trouble what you'd like to poison yourself) and bring your food in a timely manner with a pleasant smile and never any attitude.

So if you enjoy great breadsticks, then hurry on over! Otherwise, you'd do much better off at another P&O's location, or somewhere else entirely ...

I remember when Pat and Oscar's first opened up in Encinitas (as Oscar's) and you would see the Sarkisian family out front greeting people as they walk in.  The place would be packed, one of the best places to eat, one of the best places to work.  Times have changed as Pat and Oscar's has gone corporate and growth has skyrocked.  I guess there was that little Salmonella incident also.  You walk into this Pat and Oscar's branch in Carlsbad and you are met with a nearly empty dining room.  It's a little depressing that this local success story has come to this.

Breadsticks.  That's what Pat and Oscar's is known for.  And they still come through with flying colors.  There is something addictive about the melted butter and garlic that these breadsticks are coated with.  The baskets of 20 of them could be a meal on their own.  It's too bad they don't reheat well though.  Everytime I run a half marathon, it's great to see the Oscar's tent around the finish line so I can stuff my face with bready goodness and undo the calories I've just burned.  The pizza is best described as mediocre at this point.  I used to really enjoy the pizza sauce used, but it just isn't as tangy these days.  I also enjoyed some of the specialty pizzas, especially the Gyro pizza, but that is no longer offered.  The chicken is usually dry and unappetizing.  The Greek salad is still fantastic, although on one occasion, it has been a bit wilted.

Pat and Oscar's is a place I'd really like to succeed, especially after meeting the Sarkisians.  It's too bad that they have hit bad luck along the way, although I'm sure they've made millions since Oscar's inception years ago.  I'd still come in here just for the breadsticks though.  They are what crack must be like.

I have only reviewed one other time on yelp and that was for borrelli's in encinitas which I gave full stars for their amazing hot wings.

The only reason I'm reviewing again is because my experience at Pat and Oscar's provided me with some of the worst food I've tasted ever in my life.  I ordered the chicken wing meal with broccoli cheddar soup and a mini pizza.  The hot wings were just horrendous, not even close to what wings should taste like.  The broccoli cheddar soup looked exactly like vomit and upon tasting it I almost produced my own vomit.  The pizza was defiintely below par but at least edible.  The gf's salad looked edible.  I give you one star strictly for food, the service was fine but I won't be eating there ever again.

    * Location near Costco off Palomar Airport Rd.
    * Free parking and tons of it
    * Location never gets busy like some of their other stores

Come on...who does not like Pat & Oscars? I've been eating here since (before corporate took over) and the guy who started this place lived in Scripps Ranch...he was my neighbor and opened his first location in Carmel Mountain Ranch. Grew out of that store and opened up across the center. That's what happens when you give out free bread sticks.

Built himself and incredible chain of restaurants.

Food is tasty, wings and Chicken especially. Pizza is....well....nothing to write home about but the ribs....they are decent as well. Nice place to chill for chicken and ribs with a greek salad.

    Enjoy!

Great place to get a lot of food for a cheap price. A family meal for 2 feeds my whole family of 5. Love the free refills on breadsticks. Chicken and ribs are delicious. If you want pizza, I HIGHLY recommend the California Pizza. A great place to eat with your family.

i was really dreading eating here. have had their food "catered" at a couple business meetings but this was for a fundraiser so i was stuck ...

the place lived down to my expectations. i've eaten worse -- just not much worse.

have had better caesar salads on domestic airlines.

    pizza was spongy.

    ribs were spongy.

WYATT and JULIANA turned their noses up at the mac and cheese which means PAT & OSCAR's doesn't even measure up to KRAFT in a box ...

    nothing had flavor.

should have walked across the parking lot and eaten at COSTCO. would have enjoyed dinner at least as much and could use the exercise.

Over at the Pat & Oscar (teh Grouch) restaurant appeared pretty high class from the looks of the outside.  Although, when you walk in, it switches immediately to buffet style seating with that diner look.  If you didn't know the restaurant, you would never think to go inside if you're dressed in San Diego beach-type attire.  The food was alright.  The ribs were dry, but chicken wasn't.  I mean, the chicken could have been better.

I will give them an extra star for service.  The lady at the register was nice enough to offer her opinion on what was good and what wasn't.  Plus, I think she was flirting with my co-worker who is engaged.  J/K.  But not.  Anyway, if you're hungry and you have no where else to eat...which I doubt, move on, unless you want to eat some good caesar salad and millions of bread sticks.  *FISH STICKS*

First off, the parking situation sucks.  And (during my first experience sometime back) I was told how much I would looooove their breadsticks.  Well, sorry San Diego, but they taste like a frozen bread loaf from any freezer at a stater bro. grocery store.  Food?  Average at best.  Buffet feel to the interior - not my thing.

I understand that this is a SoCal institution.  But I also believe if you stop drinking the kool-aid, you'll find much better food, ambiance, and pricing elsewhere.

If you want a great salad, one big enough to share with someone, stop here and get a cobb or southwest style.  Beware of the delicious breadsticks!  As soon as you walk in, someone hands you a hot breadstick, which always inspires me to buy a few with my salad!  Not good when you want to reduce carbs, but they are hard to pass up... besides, you can always burn the carbs off later...

The pocket sandwiches here are the shizzznit, the standout being the chicken caesar. The lettuce is crisp, the dressing delicious, and the generous chunks of chicken are seasoned damn near perfectly. The mustard sauce they have to accent your sandwich is divinity in a bottle. Breadsticks seem to be the signature item which is still pretty bold for a restaurant in the post-Atkins world, but they're great, and even better when dipped in the house dressing.  I wouldn't concern yourself with trying the pizza, but salads and ribs are pretty good as well. Plus the people that work there are super nice... mad props to the white lady with the afro and the guy from Smashmouth. IMPORTANT HINT: It's all made-to-order and usually busy, so call ahead if you know what's good for you.

I don't normally review chain restaurant food, but since I eat here a lot I wanted to say a few words.  The Greek and Cobb salads are the best.  I would avoid the Southwestern salad since it was a bit bland.  The great thing about this restaurant is the quick service and the complimentary breadstick while waiting in line.

I had only been to pat and Oscars a long time ago and decided to give it another shot. The place was very clean and service was excellent. I got the Turkey prov alone. I loved the bread tasted very fresh also the mustard is great. The rest of the sandwich was OK. I felt like it was over priced I just got the sand and a drink and it was ten dollars. Perhaps I should have tried something else.

When we're in Carlsbad, we often go to the Pat & Oscar's next to Costco.  We've also been to the ones in Encinitas and San Bernardino -- all have been consistently good. Being creatures of habit, when we find something we like, we tend to stick with it.  In the case of P & O's that would be the dinner for two that includes the lemon chicken wings, Greek salad and their fabulous breadsticks.  We have even bought an extra dinner for two to bring home, eating the salad the next day and freezing the chicken wings and breadsticks for another meal.   Sure wish they'd open a restaurant in Riverside!!!
