Really great atmosphere here - the live band was really cool.
Entree's come with a boring salad - a few greens with a slice of mushroom & tomato or a basi

For about a dozen years, I've driven past The Pasta Loft while doing laps around The Oval in Milford going to my sister's house.  I imagined Neapolitan-style brick oven pizzas and steaming bowls of pasta surpassing what I've had in the North End and Italy proper.

The mind can definitely play tricks on you.

This is a mediocre Italian red sauce joint (upstairs and roofdeck) and a townie watering hole (downstairs).

We brought my niece here for her birthday on a Sunday evening.  The hostess was very nice and seated us immediately.

Unfortunately, we waited another fifteen minutes to be greeted by our waiter.  When he eventually manifested, the lad seemed earnest enough, but either the kitchen was in the weeds or his timing was completely off.  And it wasn't busy at all.

We were brought our drinks and bread and- having had ample time to review the menu- ordered an appetizer portion of toasted ravioli, a margherita pizza (mine), eggplant parmesan (the lady) and a simple bowl of linguni with butter (my niece- they have no angel hair).

The toasted ravioli came out shortly thereafter, followed almost immediately by my pizza.  After waiting five minutes, I started doling out pizza slices to the girls.

Fifteen minutes later, the waiter came by to advise the lady that they had run out of eggplant parmesan, that they were baking a new pan right now and that it would be the best eggplant parm she had ever had.

    Ten minutes later, it wasn't.

It was also brought out with a cold bowl of buttery linguini.

MVP:  The free bread.  It was pretty good.

LVP:  The kitchen/service.  It was like a high school home economics project gone awry.

I would recommend take-out pizza here only, particularly if you prefer pizza not cooked in a pan while swimming in grease like so many other places around.  If you want a well choreographed meal in an enchanting setting that is a good value, this is not your place.

It didn't suck, that's for sure. The only thing that sucked was that my date and I showed up at 8:15 on a Sunday and they stop serving at 8:30. I scrambled to order some food. I chose the Chicken Cabonara and I am so happy I did. The portion was ginormous. Large enough for 3 people. Linguine, cream sauce that wasn't too thick or too runny, healthy portions of chicken, spinach and tomato and onion. It was so yummy. My date got the Chicken Marsala which was okay and we both got Caesar salad which was delicious! The wait staff is phenomenal and are happy to take you on a tour of the menu. Next time when I have more time I'll try the appetizers too! Overall, huge place, great value and fun!

The pasta loft is putting the pass, in pasta.  The pasta loft tries too hard to be up scale dining with it's prices and atmosphere where really it is just what the name of the resteraunt says it is, a pasta house.  Located directly off the oval in downtown Milford, NH the pasta loft leaves something to be desired.

Prices are not really representative.  Most of the dishes that comes with some sort of meat don't really have that much meat so the cost for the dishes is fairly low to make but not representative to the cost to buy.  A spagetti dinner would cost you 50-cents to make but cost you upwards of 15$ for dinner.  Pizza's are over priced as well, not bad but not great, stick with the pasta, Pasta Loft.  The Italian Wedding Soup tastes like it was made with sea water.  The homemade pasta is a step above store bought, richer and stronger flavor but really nothing to write home about.  All in all a subpar experience across the board.

The Pasta Loft's Saturday night bar scene made me remember why I do my best to avoid trips to New Hampshire that venture further than the highway-side, state liquor store.

This place was dreadful, but here's why YOU might like the Pasta Loft:

You like crowds of weirdly mixed age from barely legal noobs to retired maple syrup farmers.
You love dancing to "Brown Eyed Girl" -  twice in one night.
You believe that the "area's best live music" means "aging cover band that plays Brown Eye Girl a lot."
You want to get blitzed, but Applebees closes early ):
Your predilections for alcohol end with Budweiser and Jager shots.
You love rude bartenders who ID insolent city slickers for each drink.
You've got townie street cred complete with poor vocabulary and a surprising capacity for yelling, "Woooooooooo!"
You realized that getting drunk in NH is at least better than being sober in NH.

We were very impressed with the Pasta Loft.  We were at our 12 year old daughter's soccer tournament and the team wanted to grab a bite between games.  The staff saw our group growing at the door and opened early for us.  We had a large party of 12 kids and about 15 parents.  Anyone, who has worked more than a day in a restaurant, knows how challenging large parties can be... even with advance notice.  The crew on duty this day was all smiles and handled the pressure incredibly well.  Our food order was diverse, not just 10 pizzas or a bunch of pasta.  We even had a few special requests in there, due to food allergies and intolerances.  Everything came out perfectly.  The food was good quality and served promptly, but what really shined was the excellent service with a smile.

I'm going to go back and add in the other star, because Pasta Loft has now gone smoke-free. That used to be a *gigantic* drawback, as even the non-smoking parts of the restaurant reeked with the second-hand smoke eminating from the bar.

The wood-fired pizza is fantastic, the pasta is pretty good too. Good location right off the Milford Oval.

The Pasta Loft has great, home-cooked Italian food. The atmosphere is unassuming, but much nicer than your typical Italian joint. Located in the Milford Oval, it's a great place to stop for a meal if you're walking around downtown (as small as it may be).

I've been here a number of times over the years, and have never been disappointed! They tend to hire younger (ie. high school) staff, but I've never had a rude or inattentive server. The food has always been great, its a wonderful place for a night out with your friends or family.

COLD! My wife and I were told at reception that there was  open seating on the roof deck. After selecting a 4-top where we could both sit without looking into the setting sun some jerk waiter came along and told us that these seats were reserved for 3 or more people and that we would have to find another seat. The only remaining seats required that one of us would have to stare into the setting sun. We told him we could leave. He walked away without saying a word. We left, never to return again. It must be nice to have so much business on a Wed. night that you can run off your customers.

First Impressions: Maybe I Didn't Order The Right Thing
Weight Watchers: Not Worth The Calories

We have had a chance to eat at the Pasta Loft twice now. We gave it two visits because we tried pasta during the first visit and we wanted to give the restaurant a chance and try the "best pizza in the Souhegan Valley." Um, nope. Both the pasta and the pizza were a disappointment.

On the first visit, we tried the spaghetti and meatballs. We actually tried both the meatballs and the sausage. The sauce was uninspired and bland. The pasta was well past al dente. The meatballs and sausage were pretty good.

On the second visit, we tried the fried Calamari appetizer and the Feasta pizza. The Calamari was the worst I've ever had. Rubber rings--and not many of them--fried to death and served with a lackluster Marinara sauce. Greasy, chewy, horrid. $9.  Just say NO.

The Feasta pizza had promise. Described as "A combination of hot capicola, sweet sausage, pepperoni and spicy meatballs placed on a bed of chunky pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese," it was strangely lackluster and bland. The sauce itself had little flavor or spice. The crust was strangely chewy; I had expected a crisper, more flavorful crust for a wood-fired oven. Nope. Doughy, chewy and bland as well. Even covered with Parmesan cheese and Oregano, this pizza was about a 6.5 on a scale from 1 to 10.  Meh.

To top everything off, the service stank. It was slow, the waitress had all the grace of a walrus on land...she practically dumped the pizza on our table. When we asked her what was keeping our food (it took a good 20 minutes to get our poor excuse for a plate of Calamari), she said that they were "slammed" and started in on how tough her job was and that she *had* to help out in the pizza kitchen. Geesh. Just let us know how long our food will be, please.

The tables around us probably were eating the only thing that seemed worthwhile--buffalo wings. If we ever slip in a moment of weakness and go back to this charmless place, we'll try those. Or maybe not.  I vote for not.

I don't know where some of the people reviewing are eating or getting their food regularly, but Pasta Loft has some of the pizza I have EVER had and their food is definitely top notch.  On top of that you can get out of the Loft for CHEAP.  Sunday 25c wings are great as are the $1 sliders on Mondays. Yes its a" local watering hole", but with the wide selection of places to eat and drink in Milford, the fact that everyone collects here truly speaks to their quality.

The wood-fired pizza is good.  The rest of the meals lack flavor.  Seafood tastes like it was previously frozen.  Entrees come w/ an Italian wedding soup which is good, and bread and a salad making the food sort of flavorless but a good deal price-wise.  Staff is friendly, and it's a cute place.  I recommend you stick to the beer and pizza if you come here-despite the Pasta in the restaurant's name.

While I haven't tried the other menu options, their pizza is the only good pizza I have had since moving up here.  It's wood fired, which means is has a thin, crispy crust.  People, this is what they mean by "new york style pizza."  It is how pizza is supposed to be.  We were there at lunch and had the pizza buffet for 4.95.  While we had to wait for fresh pizzas to come out, the waitress was very attentive and the pizza was fresh and hot-worth the wait.  I liked the barbeque chicken pizza, which had chicken, bacon, onions, and a sweet barbeque sauce.  Yum!  Also a great selection of beers on tap.  This seems to be an area where New England does so much better!

The only semi-safe menu item is pizza.  Other items range from bland to downright nasty.  If you want pasta, you'll do better with a jar of Ragu at home.
