Yeah it's 5 stars, he's my cousin. Pasos is my maiden name, and the beautiful wine bottle it is labeled on makes me proud to be a part of his family. We served Antonio's wine at my wedding, and everyone loved it! Mildly biased, but it's the prettiest winery at the Piazza.
Wines are smooth, they have a distinct taste, and they don't hurt my taste buds. -

The wines aren't great, this place is the only one in Vino Piazza that charges a tasting fee. Go around back to Stama and Boitano for much better wines.

Strange experience here at Pasos this weekend. The tasting room was very crowded and I guess there was a special event going on. We just wanted to taste - but got very little attention from the staff pouring wine. Actually, I'd say that the tasting room was quite understaffed and perhaps this is why we had a "not so great" experience. They seemed to be rushing us through our tasting - in fact even quickly filling our glasses with wines we didn't care to taste (we had asked for red only and 3 of us ended up with Chardonnay in our glasses at one point). The tasting room staff seemed stressed out, distracted and uninterested.
This is not my first visit to Pasos - and none have really been up to the standard I would hope for. Other tasting rooms at Vino Piazza provide a far friendlier atmosphere.
All that said, I could forgive a lot of this if the wines were great. Unfortunately, we were once again not impressed (apart from a very nice Malbec & a decent Grenache).
Clearly some people really love it here - so I suppose it's worth a visit to form your own opinion. But if you are short on time and can only select a couple places to visit in Lockeford/Lodi - I personally wouldn't have this at the top of the list. -

Well first the bad news. Unfortunately I found the wine here subpar to the rest of Lodi valley. The wines tasted young harsh and unfinished as a group. If I had come here for a regular wine tasting I would have given Pasos only 2 stars. Only the cab was worth more than a sip and not much after that.
Now the good news: much thanks to the woman who made all the food and paired it! Each enh wine had its own fantastic fudge or cheesy thing to go with it to produce a spectacular pairing. There were some serious ugly duckling/swan going on. I've tried pairings at many places and none matched wines as excellently as Pasos. Our drinking group (~15 that day) is in full support of Pasos turning itself into a dessert bar with wine on the side or even a pairing bar for the other wines of the valley.
As I'll probably be back for the other wineries in Vino Piazza I'm willing to give Pasos another try. Maybe the wine will have aged enough to be good by the time I get back. -

Pasos is definitely the "high end" winery at Vino Piazza. Whereas a number of other wineries featured primarily $15-$20 wines, Pasos features primarily $30-$40 wines. Were the wines that much better? Not really. But the winemaker poured our tastes, expounded his wisdom, and we had a great time. I walked away with half a case, so clearly the wine was fine by me, even if it was slightly more expensive than you'd find elsewhere in the Piazza. I bought a bottle of Brut Rose "sparkling wine" (champagnoise style) because I thought it was decent, and they only ever made 100 bottles. I mean, honestly, how can you say no to that? The bottle, in turn, was signed by the winemaker and the artist whose intriguing painting is reproduced on the label (I think he calls it "Silver Figure" or something close; I call it "Study in 45 shades of light purple").

Haven't been there in quite some time since the Vino Piazza is out in the middle of nowhere and there's nothing else there to get me to want to go. Great stuff and Mr. Pasos is a very nice, friendly person. Some stuff better than others, but there's some really solid wine to be had.

We had a great time here at ZinFest, the crowd was a lot of fun and the staff helpful and friendly. The wines are a little pricey for this region, but they were very good. Interesting and memorable are words that might describe the wines better actually - nothing was so-so, all of the wines were unique and so I really enjoyed my tasting experience! Their location in Vino Piazza is beautiful; this particular weekend was sunny, there was some live music right outside, and Pasos was grilling meats that smelled amazing (I'm a vegetarian so did not indulge, but it was a great touch). Definitely recommended!
