This review relates specifically to watches rather than jewelry. Calvin is extremely knowledgeable and carries a great selection of interesting brands, some of which are very hard to find anywhere else. I've purchased two watches from him in the past couple of years. The prices are fair and the service is impeccable. I think nothing speaks more highly of Calvin and his establishment than customers like myself happily returning for repeat purchases of expensive items.

My fiancée and I came into Partita yesterday after a friend of mine RAVED about the guy he bought his ring from. I was so impressed with our experience there that I had to post this right away even though I don't know if we are buying out rings there or not. (Mostly because I am in love with an antique ring somewhere else).
I can not imagine a better place to experience buying a ring, or any jewelry for that matter. Raphael (sp) is the most approachable, most real, most intelligent and most CHILL salesman I have ever met. It is clear he is WAY more than a fellow who sells rings, he is passionate about the craft and committed to making sure you have the best experience possible. I seriously want to just buy stuff from him because he is so cool. He is the kind of person you want to support because you know you will get impeccable, incredible service for as long as you live.
To top it off, the rings he has are gorgeous and he is brimming with stellar advice about what to buy based on your lifestyle and how to match what you already have. He also gave me honest feedback about a ring I had that was poorly set and offered to fix it if I couldn't get good work done at the place where we went originally. Too bad we didn't get it with him first. I will be singing to the moon about this place forever. -

We set out to save the world, but were distracted by something sparkly.
I was drawn by a couple of rings in the window, and was curious to know how much they cost. After all, I need some basis to form income targets.
As we entered the store, a friendly clerk showed us everything we wanted to see, and told us everything we wanted to know. In a couple of minutes our questions had aroused the interest of the jeweller, and he gave us some personal attention.
The art of the ring. Classic to modern, he had the taste and the skill. He explained how most of the pieces on display were "samples," as it were, because each ring would have to be fit for the customer and for the stones that it would present. I admired the way that the larger stones stood out in the light, and also the way that the little stones and the details on the ring complemented them. I also could see that these styles would not succumb to the fickle winds of fashion, as some of them evoked timeless designs that were over 3,000 years old.
While we were talking, he offered to clean My Lady's engagement ring, and he offered some advice for making the ring last longer. We were grateful for his observation, and told him we would take immediate action.
We appreciated his work and his conversation, and would happily return in the future. We knew now what our target would be: The rings that had caught my eye were about $25,000 each. -

I had such a wonderful experience here!
The saleslady (I forget her name.. but I believe she's the sister of the owner) was SO friendly and informative.
The settings are BEAUTIFUL, completely different and unique. I tried on at least 10 different rings and she was very patient with me. After observing the jewelry I was wearing (diamond stud earrings and thin silver bracelet w/ charms) she commented that she thought my taste was a clean, simple line and brought out a whole tray of classic beauties.
Finally, another thing worth mentioning, while I was there the other salesman in the store was doing an outstanding job educating his customer on diamonds, metals, etc.
Although we didn't purchase our ring here, Partita is another place I would certainly recommend. -

YAY!!! Love this place. The people who work here are extremely knowledgeable, helpful and not at all pushy. They carry the best selection of men's bands we had seen yet with a good range of metals to choose from. The prices are very reasonable. They range from $400 for titanium to $2000 for golds and platinums.
We just purchased a gorgeous high quality wedding band from them which will be custom made for us by metalsmith James Binnion who specializes in the Japanese style Mokume - Gane. Spectacular craftsmanship! It will truly be a special ring.
I will also be getting my wedding band made there. They custom engrave! I highly recommend this place. -

My fiance purchased my engagement ring from here and it is beautiful. He said that the guy who helped him was amazing...and patient while he returned to the store several times to make sure it was the right ring for me. We got engaged a little over a month ago, and sadly I have only had my ring for two days of our engagement. There was an issue when it was resized and the jeweler said he would fix it. I'm supposed to get it back this week-fingers crossed, but have been incredibly impressed with their customer service thus far.

I think this is a great jewelry place, but after reading the comment from poor Cynthia S. below I am sorry to hear that lady. I like this store for its unique selection of jewelry. Most jewelry stores are boring boring with the same cuts, settings, designs, stones. A lot of the jewelry here has a vintage quality and reminds me of some classic Thai jewelry. They also have the best to be found vintage watches with unique brands. A cool watch collector recommended me to this store as I was browsing downtown in another jewelry shop.
I can see how one might have mixed experiences here. Whitney is really nice. One woman one time was a bit rude, but I cannot remember her name and to be quite honest she didn't seem to have the best taste, seeming rather inexperienced and snobbish.
However, I purchased a pair of cufflinks here as a Christmas gift and they offered to wrap them while I walked around. I came back and it was wrapped very nicely. They also had yummy Christmas cookies. Any store with food gets an extra star.
I also had a bracelet strung here. The stringer didn't do a great job and I am considering having them redo it. I wouldn't recommend the stringing but the jewelry here is great. A selection of modern and vintage designs varying in price. -

This is a top notch jeweler. I cannot say enough about how professional, thorough, and polite every associate is at Partita.
We bought my engagement ring and wedding band there and I would very highly recommend Partita to anyone.
This was the only store in the, whom the sales associates are professional, not remotely pushy, they are very helpful, educated (in gems, metals, stones, designers, etc) and thorough. Just as important, they have a fabulous selection of unique pieces.
This was the only store, that we found that had a unique and custom selection of jewelry (not the canned rings, that every store carries the same style/version of) AND the associates were really helpful in understanding the types of metals available, what would work well, what looks right, etc.
This is a wonderful jeweler. We will most definitely be back. -

When I was almost-probably-going-to-be-engaged-soon, my girlfriend (the fabulous Ms. R) marched me straight into Partita to look at the sparklies. (So she could figure out what I liked and tell my boyfriend. It worked.)
Ooooo. They have such nice sparklies there. And Calvin and Beverly are the sparkliest gems of all. They love their work, and will tenderly show you all their wares for hours. Calvin knows the soul of each and every stone, and let me run out into the sunlight with at least a dozen diamonds. Beverly will let you play in the jewelry case, trying things on she KNOWS you can't afford just because she can tell you like them. She's always smiling and will tell you stories about her travels if you ask.
(Customer service aside, they WANT you to get a good deal. Calvin helped us find the perfect balance of carat / clarity, etc. All within our price range.)
Since that first visit, we've gone there for my engagement ring, his wedding ring, my wedding ring, and then they helped my husband pick out some earrings for our first anniversary.
I can't really understand cynthia s's bad experience. We will keep going back to Partita year after year. -

I love jewelry, gems, shiny things - all that good stuff. I actually have a few spinels (my favorite gem) and sapphires on the shelf next to me as I write this review.
When it comes to jewelry - I view settings and arrangements that are actually in the store as optional. I don't really ever like anything that's already made or sitting out there. It might be good for inspiration, but I'd probably never buy something that is just sitting in the case. Jewelry needs to be custom made, always, in my opinion.
So, when it came time to buy an engagement ring and wedding bands, I really wanted something unique. For the wedding bands, there is this style called "mokume gane" - which another reviewer posted about below. It's a type of japanese metalworking that blends metals together in order to emulate the pattern of wood grains. This one guy, James Binnion, is a jewelsmithing expert who makes the most stunning mokume wedding bands in the world. Apparently he actually pioneered the modern process as well. His website is here:

The rings were amazing - all completely custom made, unique, and with a maker's mark that was absolutely genuine. The real deal.
So, I called them up and wanted to figure out how to get started on the process. They had a few options - send me the rings and put a $9000 deposit on my card, or go to a local store and check some out. I opted to go to a local store. They recommended Partita, and that I ask for Raffael.
Let me tell you - that was probably the best advice I've ever gotten in my life. This place is a small jewelry shop in the douchebaggy Marina district, but it makes up for it with an amazing selection and staff. Raffael is (pun intended) pure gold, and we went down a journey of making a completely custom platinum diamond engagement ring, with two mokume wedding bands to complement. I've uploaded the appraisal photo of the engagement ring, but I don't have a really good high quality picture of the mokume bands (camera sucks.)
Anyhow - Raffael's instinct, style and customer service abilities are dead on. I visited the store 4-5 times over the course of a few weeks and had absolutely zero issues. I went to a lot of other diamond sellers (the Gift Center for one) while looking for diamonds, and he found an amazing stone for a much better deal than I would've gotten on my own with the entire package. The prices were competitive, and the more you get at once the better deal you're able to get. If you want to be taken care of and hate dealing with mass produced piece of crap jewelry stores that try to get you to buy something out of a catalog, then go here and get something that will absolutely blow your mind away. -

I was looking for a very specific type of wedding ring for my husband and no one else could get it or make it for me. Not only did Partita have it, the next day, I got a call from Rafael telling me that the actual price was $200 less! He even ordered an extra one in a smaller size in case the first one didn't fit. He really went the extra mile and we couldn't be happier!

To walk into Partita is to walk into a sparkly utopia. They have every type of ring (and other jewelry items, of course) you could imagine and everything is superbly crafted. The staff - especially Beverly, Rafael, and Calvin - is kind, knowledgeable, and honest. I am happy to support them and wish I could spend more money there! The best I can do for now, however, is refer as many people as possible and visit the sparklies whenever I'm in the neighborhood.

the husband and i picked out my engagement setting and wedding band here and had a terrific experience. i'm surprised by cynthia s' experience since i always found the owners and another young guy who works there to be so friendly and nice. they let my jewelry obsessed mother try on all their biggest stones one afternoon, completely indulging her. i had to pull her away...
anyway, once they found out we were going to use my hubby's grandmother's diamond for our ring they inspected it for us, pronounced it a great diamond, and drew us a picture of its one inclusion so we could be sure we were returned the same diamond once it was in its setting. beverly helped us choose a beautiful setting and a matching wedding band and i cannot tell you how many complements i have gotten on it.
they are always happy to clean and polish my rings when i stop by--once i brought them in for a cleaning and calvin (the co-owner) was quite upset at how dirty my diamond was. i quote "what have you done to my ring!" but it was cute and endearing, not angry. i loved that he cared so much about how i was treating my rings. they also have a great selection of unique jewelry.

We found this place on Yelp when we started looking at rings. That was 2 years ago. (yes, it was a loooooong process, but worth it!) It was here where we saw the Michael B ring that we both fell in love with. This was a rare event given that we have such different taste. Over the course of 2 years, we'd swing by the store to visit the ring and re-confirm our love for it. Each time, the service was very good, helpful, not too pushy, and very informative. We didn't end up buy the ring from there, but we did buy my husband's Tungsten ring. Lovely people, lovely selection. Would definitely recommend!

Partita has the be the best experience in customer service and selection that i've had...ever. They were extremely knowledgeable and helpful and when i went back to place my order, the owner/designer, Calvin, worked with me on all facets (no pun intended -- ok, maybe a little) of the design of my engagement ring. he was so accommodating but also helped to move the design into the direction that would work well with the diamond i had. Everything in their display case was beautiful and the fact that they were so willing to amend one of their beautiful designs so that i could have exactly what i wanted was amazing. AND they finished the setting a week before it was promised -- that's 5 star service in my book.

I had a wonderful experience at Partita working with Raffael! They did a custom platinum setting for my engagement ring and it's absolutely beautiful!! Raffael took the time to do a long consultation with me and discussed all of my options so I would get exactly what I wanted. I also requested that my ring be finished ahead of schedule so I could have it for an important event. Raffael went above-and-beyond to make it happen for me.

I have been stalking the window of this store for a while now - they have the most beautiful Michael B ring in the window. Every time I walked by the window, I would point it out to the person I was with and gaze lovingly at its beauty. I finally grew a pair and went in there to try it on and figure out how much it cost. Raffael was awesome. Not only did he pull the ring from the window, he pulled several others that he thought I would like. My friend and I stood there in a sea of shiney and tried on a ton of rings. This was my first time trying on engagement rings so I wasn't quite sure what I was looking for. Raffael was extremely helpful and easy going - it was very obvious I wasn't buying anything but he gave me a lot of information to bring home to the bf. He even offered to make me a similar setting with a smaller diamond that was more in our price range. I didn't feel pressured in any way and I would definitely go back to talk to him some more.

My 97 year old mother lost a stone from her "Mother's ring" that I had made for her 40 years ago. I brought it in to Partita and Calvin replaced the stone, checked the other two and totally cleaned and polished it. It looked better than the day I purchased it!!! Beverly and Calvin did a great job and took the extra time to make sure it was done properly. THANKS!!!

my now-fiance recently designed and purchased my engagement ring @ partita. this custom jeweler stands far above tiffany & co.!!! at partita, he worked w/ a saleslady named beverly and the diamond expert, calvin. they were very professional and extremely patient w/ my fiance's selectiveness with the diamond he was seeking. he made many visits over 2 months before selecting the right diamond, and partita remained committed to their customer service. calvin was impressive w/ his knowledge of gems and stones. i don't think my fiance has one regret about making such a big purchase, thx to partita. i look forward to shopping for our wedding bands @ partita in the near future.

I cannot rave about the customer service and quality of staff enough-particularly the co-owner, Beverly. If you are about to make a big purchase and want the opportunity to learn everything you need to know without feeling any pressure or judgment, I highly recommend starting at this store.
My fiancee and I just moved to the Marina and were walking by while doing errands. Knowing we had to buy wedding rings, we stopped in just to get sized and look around. Beverly was more than happy to size us and answer our questions even though we had not expressed any interest in buying anything from the store. During the course of our conversation, she talked us through a number of different factors related to material and pricing. We felt so comfortable with her that we decided to order at least one of the things through her--a platinum wedding band. When we told her this, she said that based on what we had said, she thought that getting that ring in palladium might work better, which ended up being just one-fourth the cost of the platinum ring. I have rarely seen that kind of honest, genuine commitment to customers in any industry, much less jewelry, and much less anything related to a wedding. Due to her honesty, she may be out several hundred dollars, but now has two very loyal customers! -
