A classic Southern Connecticut Greek diner. Hardly anything is perfect, but pretty much everything is good. Get dessert. Hang out in a booth for a while. Order a steak dinner at 11am or eggs Benedict at 11pm.

Standard Diner. The food is tasty, the selection is plentiful, and service is fast. Prices are a little high due to the selection.

It's a diner, but a bright, clean and friendly diner...Oh, did I mention cheap? There are the usual items on the usual menu. It's fine.
Want fancy Greek food? Go to New York City. -

I can't say I've ever really enjoyed a meal here, but I recently went with a large group at night and had the misfortune of ordering the eggs florentine. BIG MISTAKE. It was absolutely disgusting; inedible. Don't do it. Dear Parthenon-- go check out this dish at the Shoreline Diner. They always do a good job (even if they are way overpriced). You need a new recipe. Stat.

It's a diner. That being said the food is good the portions are big and the prices are reasonable. Seems like it was renovated recently and given a facelift. Our waiter Tom was very attentive and knowledgable about the menu. Only drawback, bring back the shoestring fries! For years this place had the best shoestring fries. They have since replaced them with those big old fat steak fries that are usually soggy. NO! Bring back the shoestring fries! 'nuff said.

There's nothing not to love about this diner!
Their menu is huge and extensive. Every single employee I encountered gave me a big smile and a "hello!" or a "hi there!" even if they weren't involved with helping me with anything.
I sat at the counter, and the gent working there asked if I would like anything to drink. I said "what do you have for beer?" He said:
"budbudlightcoorslightmillerlightcoronaheinekenams telandgreekbeer."
"Excuse, me what was that last one?" I squinted and cocked my head to the side as if to better hear him.
"Greek Beer", he replied with a slight grin.
"I'll have that!"
Not bad, actually! Sorta tastes like a mild pilsener. I ended up having two with my sandwich, which was entitled:
"Pastrami Nightmare"
Now, I don't know where they get off using the word "nightmare." If all my nightmares were this pleasant, I'd sleep like a baby for the rest of my life. Toasty warm rye bread, freshly cut thin slices of piping hot pastrami, onions cooked just translucent, melted swiss cheese, served with great fries, a half-sour pickle, and a side of perfect slaw.
If heaven was a diner, this would be it. Except it'd be in heaven, not in Branford, CT off I-95. -

Last night we had very limited time to eat diner. We decided to give the Parthenon Diner a shot knowing that we could get in and out in a short amount of time.
It was a little before seven and the diner was packed.... packed with senior citizens! I guess that is a good sign that it is cheap. So we ordered quickly and I was surprised that our drinks were in normal size glasses! I hate going to diners and ordering something to drink and it comes in a shot glass size glass. So props for the big drink!
We both ordered the gyro platter. It arrived at the table within 5 minutes or so. The slices of meat sat atop a toasty pita and was topped with lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. The cucumber sauce could have used a little more garlic. They didn't give use a side of feta (which is fine with me because I can't have it). This might be an issue for those who are used to crumbling feta on their gyros. The fries were hot and crispy. I skipped the coleslaw.
The service was quick. We ate super fast and were probably in and out in about 30 minutes. This diner is located close to the Branord movie theater and highways. -

I love that they have the little juke boxes on the table! Talk about old school!
I've eaten here a couple times and found them to be reasonable and fairly fast. The service has been friendly (by east coast standards).
I have not ventured beyond the diner 3B's: breakfast food, burgers and BLT.
Safe bet for those items. I'll take an independent diner like this over Denny's and that ilk anytime. -

Would have given this a 5 had I not walked in today to find that their wonderful salad bar was gone. They have updated the interior dramatically and definitely for the better but the salad bar was favorite thing and the ONLY thing I had planned on eating today. Disappointing is and understatement. Well the rest of their food is still there and still great.
The Parth is very accommodating to groups. I would often call one hour to thirty minutes in advance to warn them I was bringing a group of about 50 people and they have always been great about seating us all and having everything ready to go. I would recommend this place for big groups over anywhere else nearby. -

Don't get the Onion Blossom
Parthenon is open 24/7, so already got a leg up with a Night Owl like myself. Their prices are reasonable, they have a good selection of foods, and they serve a decent cup of joe! -

Great place for a meal on the way to NYC or Philly from Boston.
This is the typical Greek diner. Decent service and decent food. reasonably clean and always open.
I like the Greek Sampler Platter: Baked Moussaka, Spinach Pie, Chicken Souvlaki, Gyro, Stuffed Grape Leaves, Pita Bread, Cucumber Sauce, Feta Cheese, Greek Olives, Lettuce and Tomato
Everything was very good, especially the grape leaves and feta cheese.
They also have about a dozen wraps that are all good.
In addition to this they have the standard Burgers and Pepsi, Eggs etc.. I like this location because it is an easy on and off the highway and about the midway between destinations. -

I was in the mood for a good Greek salad so I though I would try this restaurant being new to the Branford area there are a lot of places to eat at and this one caught my eye.
I am a big guy and when the waitress walked to the booth and threw the menus on the table and walked away I attempted to squeeze in but it was not going to happen and I had to ask someone else to change my seat to a table which they did willingly enough.
The menu has plenty of choices, but if the rest of the items on the menu are of the same quality as the two items we had, it would not be worth a revisit. The Mrs. Ordered the London Broil and it was dry and way overcooked the mushroom gravy was good and the pickled beets were excellent.
I ordered a side salad with feta cheese that was 6.95 not at all worth the price the lettuce was not crisp and it was way to much money for such a small portion. I also ordered the Greek Sampler platter which was more than enough for two people but the food was cold like it had been sitting on the shelf for a long time. The total bill was 36 and change plus a 5 dollar tip with no beverages other than water.
There are two many good restaurants in this area to pay this much for what I consider mediocre food at the best. -

Kingston, MA
What a pleasant surprise. My wife and I were looking for a quick dinner on our way home from Manhattan. We say the sign on the highway and decided to give it a try. The staff could not have been more friendly and the food was perfect diner food. I had the Greek sampler platter and the food was fresh and delicious. My wife had the chicken parmesan and it was moist and the perfect comfort food. We finished off dinner with a fresh napolean that was to die for!

This spot sits right off route 95 in little Brandford CT and looks like some of the places I used to eat on Long Island. It is a greek diner and has a huge menu loaded with not only 24 hour breakfast, but all sorts of sandwiches and platters and even cocktails. The service is both friendly and the fastest I have ever seen and the pirces are very cheap for the amount of food you get. The coffee is very good too and there are some unique Greek dishes on the menu as well. There arent too many restaurants around here to choose from, but this one is worth a visit for any time of the day!

Most of the juke boxes on the table don't work properly anymore. This place is a typical diner, it's open 24 hours. There is nothing special about it at all. It offers some mediocre food and has your typical diner waitresses.

Gosh, I never thought I would need to dip the stars for this place. However, I went there on 1/16/09 for breakfast with my son. Although his breakfast was perfect, mine had a few yucky flaws. I tend to order two eggs over easy (which were perfect), with homefries (which this time were different from the usually perfect ones...they were undercooked, orange for some reason, bad tasting and overall...not good), and bacon...which was not drained and abit undercooked so dabbing it didn't help. I usually love the way they do that menu choice - this was the first time it dissapointed. As always, the service is wonderful and we treated them to a nice tip. Hopefully, the breakfast menu won't continue to dissapoint me.
