Have I not written about Park Tavern? I thought I had. How could something so prominent, so well-known be in my blind spot? Well, now that I think about it, I can see why.
Park Tavern reminds me of Frank the Tank in the movie "Old School." It's an old building, sitting on the corner of 10th and Monroe; I remember the previous tenant "The Mill" fondly. Despite its history and the fact that it almost respectfully shares its space with Piedmont Park, Park Tavern also hosts well-attended events (both for profit and for charity) wherein hundreds gather to drink and mingle and drink and get shot down and drink and eventually find themselves wandering drunk in the dark near the Piedmont Park dog run. Ergo Frank the Tank. It's not really a pretty sight. And ironically, the Park Tavern has one of the prettiest views in Atlanta.
You might have already gathered that this isn't going to be the most positive of reviews. So why HAVE so many, many, many people visited The Park Tavern? Hell, why have I visited it so many times if I'm such a Grinchy McSourPuss about the entire deal? Three words:
Location, location, location.
First, the view. The view of Midtown's skyline rising above the trees is gratifying to this city mouse. During the day, the Piedmont Park meadow buzzes with activity of the mostly young, the attractive, throwing Frisbees, drinking beer, laughing and flirting and looking like an American Eagle print ad. By night, the crowd is replaced by emptiness and the glowing tops of nearby skyscrapers. And Park Tavern's patio overlooks all of this. This view is also the reason that I've been to, what, three weddings here? (Most of them were fine, as far as weddings go, but woe be unto the unfortunate wedding party who planned their festivities during an event.)
But that's it. You've got a view; you've got a location. If you arrive expecting good food or, strangely enough for a brewpub, good beer, you'll be sorely disappointed. The menu is all over the place. Wings. Burgers. BBQ. Chips and dip. Chicken tenders. Tuna Tartar? Southwestern egg roll? SUSHI? It's like the Cheesecake Factory, only without the restraint or the quality. (That last sentence is filled with irony for those who may not recognize it.)
The beer fares a tad better, but I expect better from a restaurant that brews its own beer. None of their brews has really impressed me, instead each tasting like a knock off version of something more popular. "Oh that?" a server will answer to my queries. "That's our lager. Tastes kind of like Samuel Adams."
"Kind of" is right.
And yet the location. The many, many events. The promise of drunken dudes and dudettes. Like spawning salmon swimming upstream, it's enough to draw even the most reluctant back to The Park Tavern. Ah, but now I'm married. I'm no longer Sisyphus pushing that rock up the hill. I've pushed that rock up and over and, yes, it's all downhill from here. But at least, at the VERY least, I have no reason to come to the Park Tavern for an event ever again.
I will come to Park Tavern for (2) reasons:
(1) there is a great band playing Unplugged in the Park on Sundays
(2) I have friends that are already there, having a beer, on a nice (not too hot/hot to cold) day out on the patio-but not eating anything
I've had some of the worst food on the planet here. Also, some of the worst table service ever. Out of most places in all of Atlanta.
The "theme" parties that are thrown here are perfect for the early-20 year olds set. And the only event I would consider going to "might" be the Oyster and Crawfish Festival but, I hate large groups of people. Large groups of people means I get my drink way slower than anywhere else I could be.
They get 2 stars because they are adjacent to Piedmont Park and their buildling is historic. Gretchen says that her friend says it's haunted. Cool, that's almost worth 1/2 star.
The whole "dollar pints on rainy days" thing is kind of nice (even if the beers are just standard American pisswater lagers-- a dollar pint is still a dollar pint), but otherwise I can see no valid reason to visit Park Tavern.
Yes, they have a "great view", and yes, you may be tempted to sit on that oh-so-inviting patio, especially if it's a nice day, and you've got your dog with you-- but beware: Sitting on said patio means you may or may not see your server... they appear rarely, if they appear at all. It's almost as if the patio is South Korea or something and the servers are afraid Dear Leader will have them executed if they walk outside the building.
Furthermore, the menu is like some kind of Frankenstein creation: "Southwest Egg Rolls! Sushi! Hummus! Pulled Pork! Mwahahaha... IT'S ALIVE...!" And none of it is very good, or worth the prices. Besides; sushi, at a pub? Seriously? Just say no, kids.
I like the ambience of this place a lot. The tavern downstairs is cozy, with toasty fireplaces. The room upstairs is more like an elegant reception hall - perfect for semiformal dances and weddings overlooking Piedmont Park. I've eaten the food in both the "tavern" downstairs and the "Piedmont Room" upstairs.
The food in the Piedmont Room is very good. I've tried a large selection of hors d'œuvre there. 4 stars (for the food in the room upstairs).
The quality of the food in the downstairs part of Park Tavern varies:
Sushi - 2 stars. Although delicious, I definitely ate far superior sushi at other American restaurants like Strip, Shout, and even Publix (the grocery store). The raw fish at the other places are more fresh than Park Tavern's. Nevertheless I enjoyed my expensive $12 Rainbow sushi roll here. I think the rolls that my friends ordered looked tastier than my own.
Bison hamburger - 3.75 stars. This was actually a double hamburger. It was not greasy. I enjoyed the slight char on it. It did NOT come with any fries.
Also there are $1 drafts of some beers on rainy days.
If you arrive early around 7 pm on a weeknight (I came here on a Thursday), you and your friends may be the only ones there. Which is not necessarily a bad thing. I like it.
I think its time for an upgrade to 4 stars because I have been here enough times to know this is the best brewer in Atlanta. What is so weird is that they don't make a fuss about the brewer, or the brewery, when it should be a feature and a draw, a reason to come here. But his beers are good. If you are looking for watermelon beer then don't bother, but if you want to sit around with friends for a session of yapping and drinking, then this is good.
With the recent rains I managed a couple of visits where the bill was ridiculously cheap, because of the dollar beer rainy day special. Love it!
The service has improved and on the most recent visit, Jason was quite good.

This is a potential 5 star place, it could be atlanta's best beer garden with just a little love and… Read more »
Potential is a four letter word.
This place keeps toying with my emotions. It has one of the best locations in Atlanta but the food and house-brewed beer is disappointing.
And the service raises indifference to an art.
Why can't this place be good, maybe even great? The enormous patio, the great views, the convenient location....I guess, they know they will get their steady park business.
We had our elementary school auction here and it was FABULOUS! It was unbelievable! The risotto was wonderful as was the service! Also went for Mother's day brunch as was blown away. yummy yummy food and great outside on patio. Will go again to hang out.
I have to say first that I went here for the Oysterfest event and not just a regular day. I am not sure if it was just a perfect storm of crappiness that descended on this place or what, but it was not a very fun establishment.
When I got there I had to park a few streets up but not a big deal since it was a big event. I walked over for about 10 minutes got in the long line and was informed they do not accept credit cards for admission. I hate carrying cash so I was a little annoyed. I walked back to my car, drove to an ATM and got some cash. I had to find another place to park, walk back, and enter a much longer line.
Finally I am in. There are a line of port-a-potties right as you enter the place which was not very pleasing. I met up with some friends and went inside to get a drink. It was pretty cold outside and very hot inside because everyone decided to stay inside because of the cold. I went to one of the bars which was of course cash only again. Luckily I had some left over. THIRTY minutes later I had a drink. The bartenders were pretty slow but there were just so many people.
After I finally got a drink I walked outside to escape the crowd. Outside was very muddy, cold, and still pretty crowded. It took me another twenty minutes to find my friends. At that point we needed another drink. This time we went to the back bar which accepted credit cards. This time it took FORTY minutes to get a drink! Incredible.
After that we went out in the tent area which was not too hot or cold and it was a lot better. The only problem out there was the trashcans were overflowing and dumb people decided instead of finding another one they would just keep attempting to pile on more bottles/cups resulting in trash falling everywhere and broken bottles on the ground.
Anyway, this place is pretty small to handle a decent sized event and the terrain does not deal well even with the modest rain Atlanta receives. We ended up leaving early and going somewhere else.
My family and I go to Park Tavern all of the time! We really enjoy our pretty Sunday afternoons. We play in the park and then head over to the Tavern for a bite to eat and live music. We have had the best food and service and it is a great way to end our weekend.
On another note, we often meet friends there or attend many of the generous charity events that they graciously host and are always pleased with food and service. Their sushi is top notch! Flown in fresh from Hawaii daily. Their menu is very diverse which is great because there is something for everyone. We have never had bad service either. They have also upgraded recently and made the inside so cozy and inviting. Can't wait to enjoy the fireside this fall and winter.
We have never had a bad experience there and will continue to make this restaurant a spot in our going out rotation.
I'm very finicky about my burgers and Park Tavern's freshly ground burgers rock! They are juicy, full of flavor and I'm ready to go back for another cheeseburger this week! Goes great with the Olmsted Amber beer brewed there too. Have you ever had a naked cheeseburger? Yum!!!!! Great view of the park!
Park Tavern overlooks Piedmont Park, and is kind of modeled after Tavern on the Green in Central Park New York. They even have the lanterns in the trees, etc.
This is a perfect place for a date, or a group a friends for a birthday party or get together. During the warmer months, it's fabulous because you can sit outside and enjoy the feel of sitting in the park. Lots of people even bring their dogs. So if you're a dog lover, you're going to be in heaven.
This place specializes in sushi, and has half priced bottles of wine on Wednesdays. You can't reallly go wrong.
I recommend this place when the weather is nice and you're ready to rock some bottles of wine and sushi. Perfect afternoon!
Best to go on a Sunday evening in the summer, but good anytime! Must try one of their own brews. The ribs are to die for, but I was not a big fan of their sushi options. The view and Central Park feel make it a good place to bring out of town visitors.
I think I only go here because it's close to where I live. It's an awesome spot for people watching and the view of midtown is nice. in fact, the last time i was here it was lightening in the distance and it was pretty cool to watch from the "patio". I don't love the gravel where most of the outside tables are. i don't get why it's not paved or tiled.
The waiter provided us with excellent service and tried to get us to order the sushi.
The drinks and appetizers were standard. It's just a nice place for me to relax and have a glass of wine at the park.
Park Tavern is a jewel in the center of the exciting and vibrant Midtown area of Atlanta! Most people know it because of the perfect location next to Piedmont Park. Many people, however, do not realize what an AMAZING special events facility this is.
I planned an event with their terrifc staff 2 years ago and last weekend I had the joy of being a guest at one of their special events. As you might imagine, being the GUEST was much more enjoyable. (The staff, however, did make the planning process as easy as it can possibly be.) The things that impressed me this time around? The food, the service and the ambiance created at the facility. It was totally different from anything I had ever seen there and it was a blast.
So...still consider Park Tavern when you want a burger and cold beer after walking in the park or shopping in Virginia Highlands. But make SURE you consider it as well for all your special events needs-from a birthday party to a large corporate event they can really do it ALL!
Fantastic location for high-quality F&B in an upscale casual hip atmosphere. Amazing view of the city skyline, right on the park. Sushi to die for (as well as the humus) - but also great burgers and widely varied menu. Great staff. Cool dark, cozy bar with plenty of TVs contracts bright scenic outdoor cabana and patio dining. These people also know how to create an amazingly memorable event (we've been to many large fundraisers there) in their upstairs event space (with huge glass windows overlooking the city). A win for lunch, cocktails, game viewing or a wedding/party.
Who says it's not kid friendly? It's great without the little ones on a weekend night, and for the kiddos in the afternoon. The food is great, they pour a fantastic drink, always a party atmosphere, not to mention the scenery! Its a regular for us. Don't miss it if your a visitor or an Atlanta looking for something out of the ordinary.
Wow, is this a gorgeous restaurant. And it's literally PARKED in Piedmont Park. People frolic here... they go to concerts here. They even get married here! So yes, the location is crème de la crème.
The food was solid-- I had the 'Build your own Tacos' which included everything under the sun (and under the sea if you prefer Mahi over chicken). The Buffalo Cheeseburger also won rave reviews at our table. Our service? Well, our server really tried! He was great, it wasn't his fault that the Guinness pour was among the worst I've ever seen. Apparently, the tap went haywire and about 40% of the pour was head! Our sweet server made it up to us by bringing 2 pints for each pour. My kind of compromise!
Oh, and if it's raining, Park Tavern is pouring. Seriously. They pour $1 drafts when it's drizzling out!
Free SkyBlox Wi-Fi too.
Lately I've been coming to Park Tavern for a host of St. Patrick's and Spring time festivals. The big selling point for me is that it's right on Piedmont Park. Even dealing with a sea of drunken derelicts, it's nice to look out and see the Atlanta skyline past the park meadow.
Now, when Park Tavern is more sedate I like to bring my pup Katie to their pet friendly patio where she can socialize with the other pooches and drink from her own water dish that is provided. Another big selling point for me. If Katie's happy, I'm happy.
The food is certainly decent, normally I'll go with some sort of appetizer. It's a solid place, it's not Tavern on the Green, nor should it be. I appreciate its charm.
Location, location, location!
Yes, the service is sub-par, yes the layout of outdoor seating causes confusion, and yes, the bartenders are slow. But... did you see that view? The park sweeping out in front of you, meeting up with the Midtown skyline! Epic!
If anyone out there is listening... I'm a staffing expert and could whip your staff into shape in two months! Given a small budget, I can add 1/3 to your profit margin. You'll just have to do exactly as I say, and let me fire a few people! The rest I can train!
Oh... and here's a freebie... get some high quality stackable chairs or benches for the grassy area on the right of the main tent. You could increase your seating area by 40%. Which means... on a sunny day, you're looking at thousands of dollars in extra revenue!
What can I say? I'm a selfish little helper monkey!
A friend says it's haunted....
As far as I am concerned, there are two Park Tavern's. The Park Tavern that is open daily and the special event Park Tavern.
First, the "daily" Park Tavern is a yawner and has terrible food and service. Some people like to come here, because it opens up to Piedmont Park, but I would suggest actually sitting outside in the park and bringing your own food and drinks...believe me the service and food will be much better.
Now Second, is the Special Events Park Tavern, which is usually hosted by Spiral Entertainment or WNDC and the parties are nothing but pure drunken debauchery.
Sure it is packed, with little food, crowded bars and the dreaded Portapottys, but the parties are a huge mix of Atlanta singles, live music and dancing. It helps that everyone comes here to have a good time and is open to meeting new people.
Problem is that there tends to be an overindulgence by all and many short term memory losses. It has always been an adventure for our small Yelp clique and this is why the friend says it is haunted.
Now, I like to make-out (it's the "slightly-slutty" part of me) and there hasn't ever been a special events, where I have not made out with at least one random...good times!
I don't think I agree with the friends theory about it being haunted. I would say it is more likely enchanted and I highly recommend coming for a special event, if you are looking to meet new people and want to have a wickedly, fun time.
I'm a big fan of the Park Tavern - it's a great spot to go to whether you live in Atlanta, or you're visting. The views of the park and downtown are great, and the patio is a must especiallly when it's not too hot in spring and fall. The food is very good considering all of the other amenities there - it's by now means gormet, but its very good bar food. I've not tried the sushi yet, but have heard from some friends that it's pretty good. The other thing i like there is that they will always work with you, no matter how big your group is, or where you want to sit. I've had some really good experiences with their management and servers as i bought a posse family guests there one afternoon.
Go check it out!
Headed to Park Tavern with a couple yelpers for 'spiralween'. Over all I had a good time. I had the pleasure of viewing some of the most creative costumes that night. Packed together we partied with Michael Phelps, Elmo, The Gingerbread man (BTW very yummy) and with Justin Timberlake who came with his d!ck in a box.
Although the bartender was a little rude in my opinion, the atmosphere here was very inviting. None of the characters seemed to mind me chasing them across the room just for pictures and were happy to deliver great poses for my entertainment. The greeters were nice and very chipper (nice way to start off the night), the bouncers were very friendly and easy to please with my twisted sense-of-humor (nice way to end the night).
Although I doubt I'll try this venue next year, it was a great experience and I was left with little to no regrets.
For the select few that are interested. My costume was more retro attire. I simply pulled out a few of my 80's favorites, although I wasn't going for the "80's music video dancer", I have to say that is a step up to what some of the other chicas at this party were dressed as.
I've only been to Park Tavern 3 times. The first two were for crowded holiday events that I barely remember because, well, I like to drink and they have lots to drink.
This represents the unfortunate third visit:
So, the BF and I were looking for something to do on Friday, it was raining, and as I'm in the middle of planning a corporate event in the Garden tent, I suggested we head to Park Tavern for $1 rainy day drafts. $1 beer will pull me out in a hurricane, so the little drizzle we had going on was nuthin.
It was a little crowded but we only had to wait for about a minute before being seated. I didn't realize that the only beer for $1 is their own brew. They had four choices that night, scratch that, three because everyone had drunk up all the Pilsner. They apparently knew better than we did cause every other brew sucked donkey balls. The Octoberfest tasted like vinegar, and the pale ale and IPA tasted burnt and well, just gross. Bad, bad, bad, home brew.
This stuff does not stand up to the quality of local brew I am used to imbibing. I mean, come on peeps, you're in Atlanta, home of Sweetwater and the Atlanta Brewing Company. You're gonna have to try and bring it - just a little bit.
Didn't try the food, but I got a pretty good idea from what was stuck on the menus.
I'll definitely keep attending the large events at Park Tavern cause the patio is awesome, and it's nice being right on the park, but somebody needs to smack the brewmaster please!
Met some of my old college friends out "on the rocks" here last Friday evening. Most of my friends had never been to Park Tavern but they will definitely be back. I picked this spot for us to meet and have some drinks because it is perfect weather to be outside and enjoy the park and views.
We had several drinks throughout the night, all of which were good (they just were not very strong). We ordered some quesadillas for an appetizers, and they were surprisingly good. I think I filled up on them because when my mahi mahi basket came, I was not real hungry. But the fish was very good and so were the sides.
I would def recommend this place for meeting up with friends and their furry friends (its dog friendly outside!)
Great location but this place is having an identity crisis. They recently changed the menu to include a copious amount of sushi. I understand sushi has become very popular (I love it, too) but it is the LAST thing I want when sitting outside on a oh-so-humid day in Hotlanta. I wish they would capture the "tavern" element of this place and adjust the menu accordingly.
In addition, the Park Tavern is almost ALWAYS understaffed on the weekends and you will be left sitting at your table for long periods of time without service. You might consider ordering two drinks at a time.
On a positive note, it is wonderful to be able to bring dogs to the Park Tavern. Just be certain yours are not aggressive and can handle lying on the stone patio for long stretches of time. They do provide water.
The owner of Park Tavern is one lucky SOB.
This is pretty much the most prime real estate around. A restaurant literally on Piedmont Park...wonder how that got an okay.
They use this to their advantage by holding weddings in the space, but I'd be weirded out by people in shorts eating lunch literally feet away from my nuptials (there's a fence separating the ceremony grounds from the gravelly outdoor eating area).
There are also lots of events hosted by various radio stations...Lucky Day (St Patty's) and a Crawfish Boil and I believe a big Halloween bash are all held here annually.
The thing that pisses me off about this place, though, is they have the "When it rains we pour" deal, which sounds like this - If it's raining, you get $1 beers.
HOWEVER, there are some stipulations. It can't just be raining. It needs to have been raining for 30 minutes, and the boss needs to verify this, before the waiters can do the deal. We had to literally wait until the server got permission from mommy.
Also, this deal only pertains to those eating outside. There's basically a tent roof, so it can be loud if it's stormy, and the humidity's ridiculous.
Lastly, it's not just any beer that's $1. The deal is only for Park Tavern's own brewed beer. Bah.
That being said, their brew isn't bad. And it's still an awesome location, which bumps the rating from a 2 to a 3.
I don't think I'd been back to Park Tavern since I wrote my last review of it, but everything still applies. I will say that to sit outside under the tent with the rain on the roof and have a $1 beer is a great way to relax.
The food is still unimpressive, even more so now that they've taken the chorizo out of the queso dip. The fried oysters were bland and dry. The egg rolls were overdone on the outside. My buffalo burger definitely had char on the outside of it. Still the onion rings are ok.
Go for the $1 drafts on a rainy night and order a side of onion rings.

Food is average but the location is very convenient.
I cant recommend any food besides the Wings, they are really good here.
I really enjoy going to park tavern when I can. One of the things that I think make it so great is the fact that the atmosphere seems "upscale" yet the people come in all different shapes and forms. i guess since most of the guys have been throwing the football around in the park all day and come in hot and dirty, it's not like you really have to dress up to be there. i sit at the back bar normally and the bartenders do a great job and getting me way more drunk than I intended. Overall, it's pretty charming.
My dog won't even drink the water from this dump.
4 out of 5 chooses the Beast over their tank sludge.
The food is a triple dog dare.
Shotgun weddings keeps this place afloat.
Uno star for patio and view.

As many times as I'd been to piedmont park it never dawned on me to even venture into this place out of curiosity. In fact, I felt almost as if I'd been subconsciously avoiding the tavern on purpose! Any reserves, conscious or otherwise, were put away once I finally visited.
NYE 2009 was the occasion and while I was upset initially at the $135 price tag just to countdown...after the first 15min I was having more fun here than any other nye parties I'd been to that night. Ambiance was excellent and it provided some of the most beautiful women in the city, right there in front of me! I had a great time. The only thing that makes me a bit weary is the fact that I've gotten so many reviews of this place saying the regular/during the day experience is completely different.
Maybe I was right to avoid it for so long...
The only reason I ever end up here is because after taking a lap around the park with my dog, he's tired and I want a drink. The best part is that he can come sit with me on the patio and they provide water bowls for dogs. And really, that's about the only good part. Every time I've been here the service is as slow as Christmas. On my most recent visit, the patio wasn't even busy, just a few other tables. I'm not sure what the hold up was (this time or anytime other time) but it took an obscene amount of time just to bring drinks. And there were several servers working. So what's the deal!
Just be ready to wait a while for service. The food isn't bad but a little pricey for the quality. But hey, at least I can bring my dog...
When I worked for a small, non -profit museum, we were looking for a space to hold a fundraiser--our 2007 Halloween Party & Concert.
Park Tavern really came through for us. Not only did they donate the space as a donation to a charity, they also provided free catering as a surprise! We showed up to start decorating that afternoon and there was a wonderful buffet set up of dips, chips & finger foods.
The staff was incredibly accomodating of our needs for tables, time to decorate (it was Halloween afterall) and our bands. It is a bit of a challenge to get equipment down the stairs from the parking lot, but they survived.
Overall we had an amazing experience and were able to raise much more funds than would have been possible at another venue.
Thanks Park Tavern!
This is a place that's draw is it's location, and environment. As someone else said...it's a laid back place and as it should be. It's a good place to have a drink in the spring/summer/fall evenings. It's a popular dog spot as well.
The food is pedestrian to bland. Not very creative, or inspiring. The drinks are OK, not exceptional but I guess that would be too much to ask for here.
The location means it's a spot I hit often, and can hang with friends for hours. However, finding a table is like camping out for concert tickets...come EARLY and be prepared to wait. That's annoying that if you want to meet your friends at 8p, be sure to be there by 7 to try and get a decent table.
There is wi-fi available which is a plus. Unplugged at the park is interesting but I'm jaded from Austin live music where it leaves something to be desired there.
The good: the environment, location, and parking.
The bad: the uninspired food, and average drinks (a location like this should excel!).
As a restaurant, it's very mediocre (if that)... I've never particularly enjoyed my food and can't even remember most of what I've gotten (aside from their spinach dip, which kind of lacked flavor; and the buffalo chicken tenders, which were just OK). But what's nice about Park Tavern is that it's a great for special events: I attended a plethera of fraternity functions here, several of Spiral Entertainment's parties (like Oysterfest and the Get Lucky St. Patty's Day party) and I even threw my graduation party here because of the view and the atmosphere. It's an Atlanta icon, being the only place to grab a bite and pint while enjoying Piedmont Park. My favorite part: their 'when it rains, we pour' deal (when it's raining in ATL, they have $1 pints).
You would think on a beautiful sunny day like today that Park Tavern would have been prepared for the influx of people at the park. Nope, not even close...nor did they really care! This place is usually a good spot to grab a few drinks, get a sunburn, and people watch...seems like everyone at the park today was in agreement.
When I arrived and put in a reservation for 2, the girl told me about 40 min. I was like cool, it would give me some time to walk around the park, think about some story writing ideas for the next Chronicle, and chat up with some friends I had ran into. Well, I could have done all that, walk back home to Castleberry Hill, do some shopping at the VA Highlands, and get through the DMV line before they had called my cell phone for my table. I mean c'mon, the grass was turning green more quickly than people being seated!
At about an hour, I told the hostess that I could just sit inside and she said that's ok and I will sit you in a bit. 40 min. later, I was just red in the face and packed up my stuff and headed back to my car. It was seriously ridiculous and I lost 2 hours of my day! Worst part about it was that I was sitting around and could just hear the hostess and waiters just talking trash and how they hate their jobs. Who wouldn't since there were only like 4 people working the entire place! Ugh...
Park Tavern's food has improved. My chicken sandwich was one of the best I've had - marinated to perfection. The other dishes I saw looked delicious. Dogs, which are allowed at your table, are very distracting as there are always a few barking tantrums from ill-behaved dogs lurking as owners walk to their tables. I also felt bad for the dogs lying directly under the sun's rays. Great to visit when you're at the park, but I wouldn't take a date here in the evening - unless she had a dog.
Don't WASTE your time here unless all you want to do is get WASTED. Get it? My jokes are incredible I know.
I am so disappointed in this place. It smells. The staff sucks. The food is terrible. If you are forced to go here, again, just get drunk. It's the only thing that'll make you forget how your feet are sticking to the dirty floor, and you won't remember whether it was you or that other partier puking in the sub-par bathroom.
Park Tavern gets my four stars for the patio alone. Food, ehhhh its probably three stars. Service, probably three as well. But that extra star is earned by one of the best daytime patios in the city. Go to the park and chill and then go to the PT for a beer. Or if you get dehydrated in an intense game of ultimate frisbee, make PT your stop.
99X also offers free acoustic concerts on Sunday nights in the summers to age 21 and up. They're usually pretty good and sometimes you can catch small acts about to break it big, or even artists who've already done well for themselves that like to play an acoustic set every now and then.
Either way, the view is amazing. Second in favorite patios, Six Feet Under Westside being my first favorite.
