I've always had a sort of low-key enjoyment of ChipShop and their delicious fried everything, but after living in the Slope for several years I no longer found it exciting.

But I stopped in the other day for the first time in a while and tried some amazingly tasty things off their specials menu, which I had never encountered before. Namely:

    - a delicious, delicious chicken soup with herb dumplings
    - a delicious, delicious homemade sticky toffee pudding

Like I said, I have nothing against the standard fish and chips menu, but I really recommend giving the specials menu a try. I'll be back soon to try some other specials and see if they live up to what I've already tried.

I came here to try their fried desserts after my friend said their fried desserts were featured on the food network. The reviews hinted that the fried twinky was the way to go and so I obliged and that is what I ordered.

I have to say, I didn't really enjoy the twinky. It sort of tasted like fried mushy dough and not much anything like a twinky at all.

But on a positive note, I ordered a Reese's milkshake and that was DELICIOUS! I highly recommend it!

Another thing I didn't like, however, was that they did not accept credit cards and the service wasn't the best as the waiter seemed to be a bit annoyed that we didn't know what we wanted right away.

I hope to come back soon, try some more things, and hopefully raise my personal score for this place!

Oh, ChipShop, how lovely you are!

I have to throw this out there first - I was there with a friend of the owner AND I had won a gift certificate to the Shop as part of a Charity raffle. Why am I sharing this? Well because I was able to learn some stories about ChipShop and the owner and well, that just made the experience even more rad.

My friend and I ate like gluttons, but I didn't leave so stuffed that it was painful. Instead, we stopped when it was time and I'm so glad we did. We started with the fried mac and cheese ball, which was divine. The outer layer batter was perfect!

For our full meals, we split the lobster mac and cheese. I know, I know, we clearly like our carbs cheesy. I also ordered the fish and chips with cod and my friend ordered the shrimp and scallops with chips.

The batter for the cod, again, was delicious. Absolutely delicious. The cod itself, flaky, white, large, and delicious! The chips, were also perfect! They were unsalted and REAL potatoes. Unfortunately after plenty of mac and cheese and fish, I could not polish off my plate of fries, but I wish I had. I so wish I had. So damn good!

Oh and before I forget, the lobster mac and cheese. If they are offering it, get it. It's creamy. It's delicious. It has HUGE chunks of lobster in it. So worth the extra calories.

AND THEN we ordered the fried twinkie. Yes, yes, we did. I don't like twinkies, but well, when in Rome. So we split one and it was almost like elephant ears at the fair except smaller and comes with jam. It is fluffy, but fried. The parts with cream even didn't taste like cream. The jam really adds to it.  I don't know how else to explain it, but you should definitely give it a try after you eat everything else greasy and delicious.

The 80s music playing along with the poster walls with everything British really are cute and add to the experience.

I figured that if I was going to break my New Year's resolution I might as well do it with a bang!

My friend and I were practically the only people in this warm and inviting restaurant on a Thursday afternoon. The decor is really cute, very kitschy and fun. You're enveloped in a lovely milieu paying homage to Great Britain. The British memorabilia (which includes The Beatles mementos, and pictures of the Queen) is a feast for the eyes, which can only be improved if it was dipped in that amazing Chip Shop batter. My pinky would taste great if it was dipped in this batter and deep fried.

The Battered Cod Fish and Chips ($12) was filling and satisfying. You are presented with two huge pieces of delicate cod deep fried into a yellow brown crisp on top of a king size bed of fries. The cod has such a clean and subtle taste, you can tell that they used fresh fish. It tasted great with the malt vinegar and tartar sauce. The portion was huge for me and I could have easily shared this with another person and be satisfied. But then again, why would you want to share?

The Deep Fried Mars Bar ($3.50) was oooey  gooey heaven in my mouth. At one point I chucked my fork and attacked this delicious anomaly with my bare hands. The batter created a yummy and crisp golden exterior that was not at all oily or greasy. The candy innards was completely transformed after a trip into the deep fryer. It was warm and melted, with the soft and viscous caramel and luscious nougat oozing into your mouth with every bite.

Now I refuse to eat a Mars bar (or other candy bars for that matter) unless it's been dipped in Chip Shop's awesome batter and deep fried in oil.

My friend ordered the Chicken Finger and Chips ($10) and the English Lemonade ($2), which were both highly recommended. I actually took a sip of the English Lemonade, which is actually a soda, and it was sweet and not overwhelmingly tart. I'm not a fan of lemonades but this soda was pretty damn good.

I cannot wait to come here again and try more of their amazing oil laden delicacies.

Overall, it was worth every single calorie.

    P.S.
    CASH ONLY
You can bring in a food item and they'll fry it up for you for a price.

My cousin and her boyfriend love FRIED EVERYTHING. (fat asses) They are also only 100lbs each -__- , so I came here with them to check it out bc they would just not stop raving about it.

Everything is really good, cept i didnt care for the mac n cheese.

i felt like complete death afterward....but it was worth it.

    -tables are tight
-wait is long on crowded nights
    -service can drag a bit

but that wouldn't stop me from going back, eating fried food is like drinking and getting a hangover. its still awesome no matter what the consequences. and this place is clean and delish all around.

i recmnd the cod. Cheers =)*

If you are a health-conscious person, suffer from high cholesterol or blood pressure, or generally don't like your food fried, this probably is not the place for you.  If you are not deterred by any of this, please continue reading.

There are fish & chip, and what I like to call "Commonwealth food" aficianados out there, who would probably be an authority on places like this.  I am not one of them.  However, I do have the dubious distinction of having patronized a famous hole-in-the-wall fish & chip shop in Dublin called "Burdock's," so I think that must be worth something.  Burdock's was pretty mind-blowing, particularly when you're 6+ Guinness pints deep and three sheets to the wind, but I digress.  They are strictly "take away" there, and serve huge pieces of piping hot fish, on a huge bed of fresh, hand-cut fries, all snugly wrapped up in newspaper.  Total weight must clock in somewhere in the 3-5 lb range.  But why am I telling you all this?

Chip Shop, which was given the stamp of approval and recommended to me by an honest-to-god, full-blooded British friend of mine, offers the closest thing I've had in the states to the authentic fish & chip experience available in the UK.  The other menu items (fried ANYTHING) are consistent with that theme.  They do an English breakfast as well, if you're into that sort of thing.  In general, the place just feels like the real thing, with posters and paraphernalia from British days of yore plastered all over the walls, as well as the requisite shelf full of Cadbury chocolates and Marmite, which sadly do not always get top billing around here.

My first trip here was for their "recession special," which is fish & chips, shepherd's pie or mac & cheese (w/ a salad!), for $7.  Portion sizes are generous, too.  That time I had the mac & cheese, of which there are several varieties, which to me = WINNING.  A few nights back, I was in the mood, so I popped into their "take away" window, which is just around the corner from the main entrance, adjacent to their kitchen.  Like any self-respecting fish & chip eater would/should do, I got the haddock.  As I mentioned, it is served freshly fried (the chips, too), tenderly wrapped in newspaper, much to my delight.  The batter was light and crispy, the fish was cooked perfectly, and the fries were just the right size and tenderness.  They also put the cherry on top by automatically including plenty of salt, vinegar and tartar sauce as condiments.

As long as you are aware of what you're getting into from a nutritional perspective, and have appropriately weighed your odds on the likelihood of congestive heart failure, I would recommend this place without reservation!  It's about as real as it gets around here, is a cute little spot with the takeaway option, and all the service I received was friendly and stellar.  They also play choice music in the restaurant, which is just gravy on top of all that fried goodness.

My whole family for generations is British so I grew up on chip shop fare visiting relatives all over the UK.  I'm not sure why, but for some reason the Chip Shop doesn't quite connect me to those food memories.

I'm not sure if it's the oil, the type of fish, the amount of batter, the size of the chips or just a changed palette*... but for whatever reason, neither of the BK Chip Shops popped for me.  That's not to say anything is wrong here.  In fact it's a very cool place with friendly staff and I love them for being unique.  Also, right now they are running "recession" specials at lunch - $7 for F&C or Pies & Chips + a salad, so you really can't do wrong.

    * It might also be the lack of grease/salt/vinegar soaked fare, wrapped in newspaper (steaming like a tamale) which is how the dish was traditionally served in the U.K.

My family ordered take out from here last week.My mom being English we thought it owuld be nice for her to have some fish and chips.  We ordered 2 cod fish and chips and got only 1 piece of fish per order, soaking in oil and a million chips, all drenched in grease. The fish was mostly batter with very little fish inside.  Not like real fish and chips you get in the UK. I would not do take out from here again.

DEEP FRIED PIZZA! You got it!

ChipShop is THE place to.... well... increase your cholesterol levels.

They've deep fried EVERYTHING! From snickers to pies to pizza... It's like they said, "Out of ordinary things to fry? Let's throw everything in there!" They'd deep fry lettuce if they could!

It was a great experience with excellent service and beer selection... and you're too not likely get drunk because of all that greasy goodness counteracting your libations.

    Fry away ChipShop, fry away...

I didn't get anything fried here even though you can basically have anything fried. I tried the Mushroom Mac n Cheese and their Seafood Chowder.

Both were great. The chowder was creamy and had enough seafood in it, unlike some places where it's mostly potato and bits of seafood. Mushroom Mac Cheese, da bomb was not dry at all. I had the small portion and it was enough to have as a second meal.

Next time I'll have to try a pot pie and some scallops!

You can have fried everything here, from savory to sweet.

If there happens to be an item NOT listed on the menu that you'd like fried, bring it in and they will promptly service your unhealthy fried craving--whatever your diseased heart desires! Many fried seafood and combo platters to choose from.

Creamy soups and Shepard/pot pies are available if you don't dig the fried and crunchy variety.

The battered shrimp, scallops, and chips platter was excellent--and easily large enough for us to share. Except we didn't share, and I ordered the equally as large-portioned Shepard's pie.

Dream of diabetes much? You can have FRIED candy and cookies! Twix, Snickers, Mars, Reeses, Bounty, Twinkies...fried! All FRIED!!

While I can't possibly vouch for them all, I CAN however, tell you the fried Twinkie is good...as is the Reeses PB cup....and Snickers bar. Oh right....and the Bounty bar as well.

Boyfriend and I clearly lacked will power this particular night. At $3.50 each, we decided to have a sampler of sorts. The waitress wasn't even phased. It probably happens all the time. I believe it.

We clearly love this place...way too much!

    Entrees range from $10-15..

The fish is really good if you order and eat on site. The fried pizza should be tried once by everyone..will not get take out or delivery again, but will stop in now and again for a deep fried delight.

If you like fried food, this is an incredible choice. Slightly healthier option than regular fried food. If I could eat the Granny's Mac every night, I could die happy. Great service as well. Staff is always very friendly and accommodating. Never had a meal we didn't love, and we go here all the time. Great decor too. Our friends from Wales came to visit and freaked at all the authentic British candy available.

Forget eating healthy for one night. Indulge yourself in some delicious deep-fried goodness. After several failed attempts of coming here for dinner and finding out the place was packed, we finally decided to check the ChipShop for a late lunch.

The establishment is small with about 10-15 tables inside. Plastered across the walls are old memorabilia of British iconoclasm: The Beatles, Queen Elizabeth, Mini Cooper, the British flag, and more. On each table, is covered with British stamps. The whole ambiance sort of makes you feel like you're in London. But surprisingly there was nothing related to the much talked-about  and recent news of Prince William & Kate declaring their wedding nuptials.

For my entree, I ordered the Battered Cod & Chips ($12.00). A huge piece of perfectly deep fried cod in batter. The cod was super moist, almost flaky, and the batter, although greasy, was very crisp and not too thick. Underneath the cod, was a bed of also greasy, crispy and potatoey fries. Served on the side was a container of tartar sauce and a lemon wedge that was much too small to cover all that fried goodness. But regardless, it was still very delicious. Yum!!

The Battered Shrimp & Chips ($12.75), were also equally good. About 9 medium-sized shrimp deep-fried in the same batter as the cod with tails intact. So if shrimp is your thing, it will be just as good as the cod. Underneath was the same bed of greasy fries that surely did not disappoint.

We couldn't stop there, hearing about all the deep-fried desserts. The
Twice Fried Cherry Pie ($3.50) was to die-for. Don't expect some gourmet cherry pie, but something you would expect from 7-Eleven. The batter was the same again, but it had an airiness to it, making it light and sweet from the cherry filling at the same time. The Fried Reeces Peanut Butter ($3.50), which again are 2 deep-fried Reese's Peanut Butter cups covered in the same batter. The chocolate stayed intact, yet goeey enough when biting into it. I found it substandard, but being thtat Reese's Peanut Butter Cups are one of my favorite chocolates, I really enjoyed it.

Table service was decent. Although the waiter didn't come by too often to check up on us, he wasn't only a few feet away ready to be ushered over. And I have to say, the food is served fast!! It took just a few minutes for our lunch entrees to be served, and even quicker when we put in our dessert orders. For all your deep-fried cravings, come to Chip Shop. The chef will also let you bring anything in and let you deep fry as well (at cost), but he will frown upon things that will fall apart in the deep fryer, such as M&M's and marshmallows. What other place will let you bring your own food to deep fry in their delicious batter.

Another quick note. Please do not plan on using your credit card as ChipShop is a cash only establishment.

Went back today. Good food and all, but it wasn't as spectacular as before. Perhaps because there were so many people there today..
The twice fried cherry pie was the biggest disappointment. They changed it! It's not as gooey as before, and now it's in two squares instead of one big rectangle cut into two triangles.

The mushroom mac and cheese I ordered was a major disappointment. I see that the place has mostly positive reviews so I must have ordered the only dud on the menu so I am willing to try again. There was more mushrooms than mac and cheese which in this case was not a good thing and I love mushrooms...the mushrooms were watery and could have used some more cooking. Since there were so many of them, the whole dish was watery and frankly I threw most of it out...shame.

This was a delivery order and as I said I would probably try another dish from the place due to the overwhelming positive reviews on yelp:)

A restaurant that does FRIED FOODS GALORE!!! My dreams have been answered. Not only is this restaurant awesomely delicious for the plethora of fried desserts they offer, but they're all affordable! You can get two desserts to share with a special someone or just with me, myself, and I for $10 with tip.

I had to try the Twice Fried Cherry Pie. It's delectably crisp, being fried twice and the cherry filling is what it usually should be, sweet yet tart. It is something you should try when venturing here. But share it! It's a lot for just one.

Fried candy bars!!!! From the list that they offer, I decided to try Fried Twix bars. It satisfied that greasy sweet craving that nothing else can.

All in all, I would definitely come back for more dessert. But a fried meal from appetizer to dessert might put me in my grave early! But hey! Gotta live dangerously!

Booooo.  After seeing this on TravelChannel, I was so stoked to go!  Fried food is my absolute favorite and would be my last meal on death row if I were a hardened criminal.  It's hard to find a fried food joint that is legit.  After coming here, I have to say I'm still on the lookout.

We ordered the fish n chips and the fried mac and cheese.  The fish and chips were pretty hearty and had all the awesome condiments that are a *must have* for authentic fish n chips - malt vinegar, lemon and tartar sauce.  The fish was pretty substantial too with a crisp batter.

The mac and cheese was so bland and unimpressive.  We didn't even bother taking the leftovers home they were so underwhelming.

Too full for dessert, but I would have loved to try the fried candy bars and other desserts.

I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again, but would probably give it another try if I were in the area.

    Wow.  Wow!

My only complaint about the ChipShop is the meal is so big I never have room left to try some of the tempting desserts on the menu...

I come here about once a month, when I'm ready to treat myself to a gut-busting, deep fried lunch.  Most of the times I order the cod fish & chips with mushy peas, but sometimes I get the scallops & shrimp & chips for a change, also with mushy peas...

Both dishes are absolutely fantastic, not too much breading to hide the fish, and fried to a golden crisp.  They're always still hot to the last bite, even though I'm not a fast eater.

The decor is pleasant, with lots of English pop culture posters and book covers and what-not (like one for a Sean Connery movie, "Hot lips or hot lead, he's always ready or action!") with smaller tables covered in British postage stamps or coins, and some larger ones with what look like church pews for benches.

The service is always cheerful, friendly and efficient, so it's a pleasure to eat here.

Do you ever hear about gross food at the fair that no one with any mind for eating healthy would think of trying? You know what I'm talking about,  deep fried twinkies... deep fried EVERYTHING.

Well, there aren't deep friend twinkies on the menu, and clearly I'm not so health conscious.. but the food at ChipShop is way good.
You have to try the deep fried pizza. It's just cheese pizza, but it's battered and deep fried.

Also, if you order chips, get a side of curry. It makes them irresistible.

Just don't, no matter what, think about making stopping here a regular thing, you'll end up with a ChipShop belly.

    Twice fried cherry pie!? WHAT!?

As if cherry pie, in its natural state,...needs to be "twice-fried." Oh, wait. Oh...ummm. Yeahhhhh, it does. It's like perfection became more perfect in that pan, and the world imploded. With cherries. ZOMGgogetsome.

    Ahem. Composure.

I ordered ChipShop as a "final meal" of sorts, before a detox. And what better food to go out with than a bangin' meal from ChipShop!? I looked 'em up, placed my order, and within 30 or so minutes they were on my stoop with aforementioned dessert of the cherry gods and a heaping portion of mac 'n cheese 'n peas. (That's not the real name, but that's what it was).

And it was hot, gooey, cheese baked and fantastic arriving to me at just the right temp. The baked in veggies (eggplant, onions, etc) were a bit soggy/sweet, but that's the only minor infraction I could glean from this heavenly last supper. A ginger beer (full calorie!) to wash it all down, and I am happy to say...I can see what all the fuss is about.

.....detox has commenced. Seriously though, get that cherry pie on one of those nights when you are throwing your looks and health to the wind.

    Total price: Approx $18

I was really excited to try the ChipShop because I'm a huge fish n' chips fan and because there is so much hype surrounding this place.

Unfortunatley, that all it was...hype. I tried the cod, mushroom mac and cheese, and the fried snickers bar. The mushroom mac and cheese was good, but too plain and basic to cost $12. The fried stuff was overly fried. The fish was completely flavorless and the snickers just not special at all.

I'm sad. I was excited about a good local fish and chips place. Unfortunately, this is not it.

If you come to ChipShop, you MUST sit on the left side, near the cashier.  They've framed a bunch of napkins that customers have taken pen to, mostly to wax poetic about the deliciousness of specific dishes that are served.  It's somewhat disguised as kitschy art, but when you get a little bit closer, this charming napkin collection is exactly like Yelp.  If Yelp was a scrawl of Yukon Cornelius with a word cloud above his head that reads "Mushroom Mac, it is my crack!"

My sister and I decided to follow this guide.  With culinary astute cartoons and haphazard scrawls guiding us on our journey to obesity, we settled on the Granny smith apple side salad, the British berry sodas, Wild Mushroom Mac and finally the Fried Bananas in chocolate sauce.  As I made my way through each course, the napkin people became more and more legit.  If your arteries can afford to take a walk on the wild side, definitely stop by the ChipShop for dessert, at the very least.

Because this ChipShop premiered on the food channel, we decided to make a stop here before catching our flight back to the West coast.

This place is oh so wrong, but oh so good! They fry everything and anything you can name.

We had fried pizza, fried mac and cheese, fried fish, fried chicken, fried reeces pieces peanut butter cups, fried fruit pies...OMG, food coma =P

We also had the Shepard's pie which was the only non fried plate on our table, but very GOOD. Oh, a coleslaw came with our meal, but it was left alone. Poor coleslaw was at the wrong place at the wrong time. :(

BTW, because we made this stop, we MISSED OUR FLIGHT! Like I said, oh so wrong, but oh so good!

If you want to build up some heart disease, ChipShop  is your place.

MASSIVE food portions.  I ordered the chicken fingers and mashed potatoes, and I was disgusted with myself that I ate it all.  Greasy greasy greasy, so bad but so good.

The fish and chips is also equally greasy and good, and is served rolled up in newspaper.  I like my fish to be read up on world affairs.  Thanks, ChipShop.

What can i say...fried paradise! I saw the chip shop on the food network and thought it was England the way they were talking about it, and then I found out it was in Parkslope! I jumped on it quick. The chip shop may be the most unhealthiest comforting fried food available on the market. It's like eating heaven.

Me and my bf got the fish & chips, the fried shrimp, and the fried mac & cheese, as well as the fried Twix and Reese's for dessert (why not). I just can't explain how good deep fried candy bars taste, you'll have to see for yourself. The food gets 5 stars as well. The ambiance is mellow and calm, with an British decor.

Aaah how eating a big plate of battered Haddock, chips with a side of curry sauce reminded me of my uni years in the UK! Loved that they served Cider too!

The battered Haddock (my preferred type of fish when it comes to this dish) was done perfectly. The portion is huge - just like I hoped! The chips were thick, yum!  I was happily surprised when the curry sauce came out in a big sauce platter - oh did I love dipping my chips into it!

My friend ordered the mushroom shepherd pie, which came with peas on the side. It was pretty good. I've never had it before - it's quite a change from the classic.

It's quite a spacious place with ample seating. The walls are decorated with all things British.

Great service! They were all friendly, which is always appreciated.

I have a weakness for fish and chips! Especially ones that have British flair. Points off for the staff not having British accents! Is it even owned by British? Haha

Anyways we stopped in for a lunch special. $7 for one large fried cod over french fries. A large side salad of mixed greens. The mixed greens was gross. It was really soggy and seemed like it sat around all day until people ordered the special.

Might have to come back for the regular menu.

Saw you last year on tv,
    Everything fried? That impressed me!
To Park Slope I went, my boyfriend and I,
We started with the mac n cheese that was deep fried.
I had the fried pizza, its as good as it sounds,
didn't care about the calories, fat, or extra pounds.
Finished with the fried twinkie and mars bar,
Holy shit that was amazing, I give this place 4 stars!

    Because I'm Big, I'm Bad-
    Come On

You Know I'm Big, I'm Bad-

(And The Whole World Has To
    Answer Right Now)
Just To Tell You Once Again,
(Just To Tell You Once Again)
    Who's Bad . . .

Those lyrics from Michael Jackson's bad kept on going through my mind when I ate here twice.  Because so many things that I chose from the menu was fried I mentally changed the next part of the song to:

    We Can Change The World
    Tomorrow
This Could Be A ( fatter ) Place
If You Don't Like What I'm
    Sayin'
    Then Won't You Slap My
    Face . . .

Although hugely popular in England, there isn't too many good fish & chips places in NYC.  Chip Shop is supposed to be the best of the bunch and have been blogged about time and time again along with appearances on TV such as the Food Channel.  The place certainly is mighty proud of it's heritage with the tables and walls all decked out with tons of English memorabilias.  The atmosphere is usually busy but casual and the staff is attentive in a friendly way.

So far, I've had the battered haddock & chips, battered plaice & chips, battered onion rings, and fried macarooni. Hard to order anything but fish and chips here for the entree since that is their claim to fame.

The portion size of the fish is more than generous.  You get a slab (or two if they think your fish wasn't big enough by itself) of fish that would take up about 1/2 the decent sized plate.  It's battered rather thickly and fried golden brown  on the outside while retaining most of it's moisture in the inside. The acompanying slice of lemon gives it a slight tanginess and the tartar sauce gives it richness.  The chips, which is what we like to call fries in America, was crispy and although tasty, I rate it slightly above average from the fries I've experience over the years.

The fried macaroni and the fried onions uses the same thick batter as the fish.  On the macaroni it works pretty well and I would recommend people give this a shot if they are curious.  For the onions, this batter wasn't the best choice for it.  The combination of the thick batter and soft onion, soaks up way too much oil.  I prefer some crispyness to my rings and this was something that it was lacking.

Although I didn't try these, the chip shop also fries many other uncommon items.  A few that I could name is fried pizza, fried chocolates ( Mars bars, twix, reeses peanut butter cup, twinkies, bounty, snickers), deep fried burgers, fried plum pudding, and deep fried banana chocolate sauce.  The one they are most proudest of, Twice Fried Cherry Pie, they proudly noted on their menu was previously banned by the NYC Heath Dept.

If that wasn't enough fried stuff, it's mentioned that you could also bring your own food ( within reason ) and pay them a small amount (I'm hearing about a dollar or two) to have them fry it in their English batter for you.  Mentions of fried pretzels, whole pineapples, and even sushi are to be found online.

The place also serves a rotating selection of English sodas.  I've had the Fizzy Ribena, and a friend of mine once had some sort of licorice soda which I personally had no interest in trying ( I hate licorice).

If you are on a health kick.  Run from this place as fast as your slim, toned little legs could take you.  The food for the most part tasted good but oh was it also (SING IT) Really, Really Bad.  If the accasional fried food won't bother you much, this place is fried heaven and is worth the trek to try it out.  If you create some interesting fried combo here, I would love to read about it someday.  Hell, if you create some interestingly vile, disgusting fried combo, I would also love to read about that someday.  Maybe even more so  =D

2 for the fried onion rings.

3.5 for the fried macarooni. http://www.yelp.com/bi...

4 for the fried haddack and fried plaice. http://www.yelp.com/bi...

3.5 for the chips that is really fries.

My boyfriend brought me here for the first time on our last day in NY. After 4 years of living in NY, couldn't believe that I only got to go once but am glad that I at least got to try it.

We had the chicken finger sandwich and it was HEAVENLY! hands down the best deep fried anything I've ever had! We also ordered the mac and cheese and that was ok.

Loved the decor. Felt like I was being transported to London! They also had an area that sold British goodies (food, candy, etc).

Chip Shop is awesome! A cute little restaurant with delicious food.
It's fun. That's what I liked the most about it. It's an experience. Everything is all British and the walls and tables are decorated. I forgot I was in Brooklyn. When a restaurant can take you to a different place that's always cool.

I just kept snapping pictures of everything around us. My friend had been there before and she assured me the portions are HUGE, which they are. The menu has all this cute weird stuff that I didn't get to try but when  I return I'll be sure to do something adventurous. We ordered one plate of fish and chips and two side orders of fried mac and cheese. The fish and chips was delicious! We split it and still had plenty to take home with us. The mac and cheese was unlike anything I've ever had. Absolutely Scrumptious. We also odered fried twix and had one each. AMAZING! They're was powdered sugar on top.

Chip shop is definetly a must eat. They'll deep fry just about anything.

Loved this place! Very cool decor that will keep you entertained throughout dinner and while you're in the loo.

Food was great! We heard portions were big so instead of ordering one dish each, we ordered 2 items from the kids menu each.  Same food just smaller portions for $6 - and we still couldn't finish.

We had fish and chips, fish cake, peas and sausage Mac and cheese and wild mushroom shepherds pie.

We enjoyed most of it except the fish cake, it tasted super fishy.

Fish and chips were the best.

They also have interesting bottled drinks, try em if you haven't already

on a night of sports and beer, the chip shop is a perfect compliment!
I had some friends from across the pond stay over, and had nothing but good things to say about the chipshop after taking them there...all was great except the baked beans (a bit of a letdown for them).
I have  tried the take out service a couple of times but the fish & chips are soggy by the time they get to me (I am only 4 blocks away)...pick it up or eat it there.
