I've eaten here a couple of times after visits to the Academy of Sciences and Botanical Garden. The gyros are delicious! The price is very reasonable and you really get your money's worth for the size (very filling!).
The service is always great as well.
Try the falafel gyro, so good! -
Review from Paul W.
San Francisco, CA
I really appreciate a good gyro but this one didn't quite measure up. I think it's more of a matter of personal preference but there were several things that bothered me. First, it comes in a wrap instead of a pita. I'm not against having a different take on a traditional food but the wrap was dry and not appetizing. I'm used to biting into a soft inviting pita and I like it that way! The other thing was the Tzatziki. It wasn't bad but it was heavy on the dill and I like mint or parsley better.
On the plus side, the gyro is huge and it will definitely fill you up! I had trouble finishing it. The price is right for sure. I'll be back try some of the other stuff eventually. -
Review from Mike L.
You know, I like to think of myself as a relatively observant guy, but sometimes I wonder what the hell is wrong with me. Case in point - Park Gyros. After I got back from my trip to Vancouver, there was a stretch where I was on the hunt for a good gyro and falafel. I tried a couple of places that were okay, but I came up empty before before my cravings came to pass. And yet, there was Park Gyros, sitting right there at 9th and Lincoln. I pass by that intersection so often, I can't believe I forgot about them. I mean, they even have "gyros" in their freaking name! Stupid.
My friend and I ended up coming in one night when we were in the area looking to grab a quick dinner on the go. Since I had suggested Gordo's, it actually sparked the idea in his head that we should check out Park Gyros. Cuz, as I mentioned, I couldn't have thought of it on my own. The menu offered a few things that I wanted to try, but I went with the Combo Gyro wrap instead.
For $7.25 or so, you sure do get your money's worth - when our orders were brought out, I was honestly surprised to see how big it was. I probably should have known though since it was filled with marinated lamb, beef, and chicken. The meat was nicely seasoned, and I liked the tzatziki sauce they used as well. I have to admit, my friend's idea to come here was definitely a lot better than the super burrito I had in mind. My idea would have left us full and bloated, his idea left us stuffed full of meat (*insert dirty joke here*). By the end, we were so stuffed that we only managed to put a small dent in the plate of hummus he ordered.
As other Yelpers have suggested, Park Gyros is a great stop to pick up some food on the go or on the way into the park for a picnic. I just feel bad I overlooked them after all these years. Don't worry though Park Gyros, I won't be neglecting you again. -

Surprisingly good falafel! I've only been here a few times, but it's never bad. Normally, i would probably only give it 3 stars, but it's never crowded and they have some seriously good falafel, so i had to bump it up one.

Didn't know gyros could be so long and delicious. BIG GYRO fan even though I don't have them much. Ran by this place after a shopping filled day with nothing but a morning glass of apple juice fueling my body. Just when I could take the hunger no more, I found my solution when I saw someone chopping down like Jaws on a gyro in front of Park Gyros.
From that point on I knew what my mission was and I gladly accepted.
I only got the chicken gyro because I'm limiting my red meat intake but I wish now I just would've taken the lamb/beef in as well. The chicken gyro was loaded from top to bottom and you could taste the freshness & amazing flavor in every bite. Maybe I was so hungry that I suffered the "best cracker I ever ate effect" (see Eddie Murphy "RAW") but I doubt it, it's pretty good.
Word on the street is that there is better, which I don't doubt this is San Francisco...hello?! Still this place definitely hits the spot without ko'ing the wallet. -

More like a 3.5. We got a falafel wrap, which is decent, but we can't help but compare it to Oasis Grill in the FiDi. What's lacking is spice. For people who like their food more on the mild side, this is perfect.
The restaurant smells amazing and everything is very clean. -

The hummus was fantastic and the restaurant smelled great, but I was really disappointed with both the lamb and chicken gyro. They were a good size for the price, but very dry. The chicken tasted kind of weird. I won't be back.

Some great decently priced Greek food! Right across from the Golden Gate park, the wraps are great when you need a filling flavorful meal!

Very disappointed in Park Gyros. My delivery order was estimated at 45-60 minutes, but it took 90. That would have been OK, but when the food got here it was cold, dry, and flavorless. I could barely tell that there was lamb in the meat mixture - it tasted like overcooked beef brisket. Sad to say I won't be back.

And so it goes.... as soon as I write a great review about a place I love, they totally drop the ball.
I'm sitting at home, watching the Giants game... stuffing wedding invitation envelopes. I get a little hungry and decide to order from my favorite place in the Inner Sunset, as I've done a number of times. I complete my order online a little after 7pm. An hour goes by - no food. I wait 10 more minutes and call the restaurant. They tell me my order will arrive in 5-10 minutes. I wait... nearly 40 more minutes go by - no food. I call again, they say the same thing. The bf asks if there's anything they can do, as this has really been a long time to wait for food, and asks if this is typical. The woman on the phone says she can't do anything.
FINALLY my food arrives, 2 hours later. Cold. And they get the order wrong -- no double salad, no hot sauce. Obviously I eat it because at this point I'm totally starving. I may come back here for dine-in... eventually...but I CERTAINLY will NEVER order takeout again. Sucky!1 Previous Review: Show all »

San Francisco, CA
I've never had greek food before in my life. A friend of mine introduced me to this place. He ordered the chicken kabob for me and an appetizer that consisted of rice wrapped in grape leaves steamed. For two meals plus the appetizer the total came out to be $34.
To me, it was a bit pricey... but in my defense I wasn't sure what exactly I should be getting for greek food.
The chicken kabob was good, nice spices, but it was a bit dry. Maybe I was suppose to dip it in that yogurt sauce..but even after I did that.. it was still dry? The grape leaves with steamed rice was very good. And I pretty much killed my salad but only because I love veggies. I wish it came with more veggies than carbs.
I think its pretty good for a beginner to try... but I would have to go back and try it again to really be able to figure it all out. -

Used to love this place. I am at least giving them one star as the food is actually quite good.
Mistakes are made. We all make them. But for me, the true measure of a good restaraunt is that they correct their mistake. For me to continue doing business (and in a way, this is a business relationship) with them, I expect that if there is a problem with my order it is dealt with in a prompt professional manor.
My order was incorrect, but it was getting late and I was hungry, so all I wanted was the difference in cost to be returned to my credit card. The first peron I spoke to even denied I'd ordered anything (even though the food had literally just arrived!). She brushed me of as she said she was dealing with a customer......er, I'm a customer too on the end of the phone!
The second guy was very patronizing and refused to admit that they'd made a mistake. Eventually I got him to agree to refund money, but only after he had treated me as though I was lying. Luckily I ordered through grub hub, so I called them and asked them to deal with it anyway.
So, in summary, good food, but the customer service is awful. If there's a problem, good luck in getting them to deal with it.
There are plenty of other good places in SF to eat, that do care about their customers. -
Review from Nina Y.
We passed by this place multiple times while going into the park or coming out of it. We always already have something to eat, or ate in the park. I love falafels and gyros and have been obsessed with eating healthier. I know it's not the best things to eat, but I typically eat junk food so this is much better.
The service here as other people have metioned was not very good. We walked in and nothing too bad. The lady who took our orders forgot about 5 minutes after we had ordered. Not too big of a deal, but seriously, don't you write it down? Some guy got the completely wrong order while we were waiting for our food. He bit into his gyro and it was wrong.
We walked into the park to sit and eat. It was just not very conducive to eating on the grass. It was dripping everywhere. It was definitely not attractive. We had gotten the falafel and the lamb/beef gyros. They were both pretty good, but the lamb/beef was not that moist. The falafel was good. The beef/lamb wraps at yumma's were a lot better...
Overall, we probably won't be going back. They have flies all over the place since they keep the doors and windows open. I just don't feel as safe about my food. In addition, if a place that isn't that busy can't get an order correct, I'll be worried! -

The only decently priced gyro in the area!
Maybe I'm a snob, but the best gyro I've had was from a food truck in NYC for $5 bucks. Therefore, I don't understand why there are so many gyro joints in SF that charge like $10 bucks for an a la carte gyro.
The lamb gyro is good- a little dry, but tasty. But by far this is the biggest gyro I've ever gotten! It's like the size of my arm! If you order fries, expect it to take about 20 min. :(
But the variety of Greek food and various treats are enticing, so it's worthy of checking out. -

The food is decent, the service is terrible.
I thought the girl at the front that takes your order was having a bad day
one time a month ago, but now I realize she's always in a bad mood. We eat here all of the time and leave tips for ordering at the counter and she never says thank you and barely looks at you. I thought maybe it was me but all the guys say the same thing.
We're a nice bunch, take care of people/servers so I don't know why she is so mean - yesterday I noticed her meaness isn't reserved for us, it's everyone that comes in. Maybe that's the Greek way of service - jk, i know better, so many great Greek restaurants.
Maybe they have too much business or perhaps her boss is a jerk. I dunno but it sucks to keep going back to a place when they're like this.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I love this place! I always thought they were busy because of their great location, but I've come to realize that it's because their food is amazing, too. Minus one star only because the food takes a long time sometimes. I find it silly to wait 10 mins for a to-go order of hummus, which is already prepared and sitting a case... But otherwise a great place. Love the vegetarian platter.

When your name has "Gyro" in it, you had better make phenomenal gyros! "Park Gyros" does not live up to their name.
I didn't care for their hummus either, bland & oily. To their credit, the pita was warm and fluffy and they used beautiful tomatoes. The delivery person was quite nice. This doesn't make up for the lackluster food.
My quest for a perfect Greek Gyro (not shawerma) continues.. -

Review from Becca S.
For a long time, Park Gyros was "that Greek place on the corner I should really try." I have all sorts of Mediterranean escapades downtown, but I really hadn't delved too far into the food close to home. I am ever so glad that I rectified that situation by paying Park Gyros a visit. Also, I am ever so glad for all those visits after the initial visit. I'm not ashamed to say that I went on a bit of a binge.
There are a lot of things that make Park Gyros awesome. I like eating in very much and seeing the fresh ingredients under the counter, seeing the people walk past on 9th Street, seeing the worn tile floor and the big menu boards and the friendly guys behind the counter working to make my yummy food. The atmosphere is relaxing and casual. They won't judge me. I can show up in sweatpants and they'll still make me yummy food. And smile at me, too boot!
And oh, the food is yummy. My body always craves veggies and olive oil, and they really deliver on both fronts. I've had the Imam Bayildi (which is a must, if you're an eggplant fan), and also the eggplant salad plate (are we sensing a theme, here?). Both are delicious. Imam Bayildi is a fantastic concoction of veggies stuffed inside a half eggplant, then smothered with tomato sauce. I'm extra impressed that such a low-key place can make veggies feel so decadent. It's not fancy, by any means. But it's filling and flavorful, in a way that you don't miss the meat at all. The eggplant salad, while lighter, is an excellent choice when you want a salad, but salads seem boring. You do get regular lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers, but you also get eggplant, grilled, sauteed, and mixed up with a healthy amount of garlic. I fail to see how this could be improved upon at all.
For the meatitarian in your life, the wraps are very good - the meat is always tender and the portions are very nicely sized. As long as you like lavash, you should like Park Gyros wraps. One thing to note: they are only enhanced with hot sauce. But really, what I like about Park Gyros, and what sets it above other places of its ilk, is the amount of vegetarian and pescatarian dishes they offer. Meat + pita + tzatziki is a tried and true combination, but if you're looking for something lighter, you might be at a loss at other places. Park Gyros has you covered. And heck, they're just so nice that once they threw in a complimentary plate of hummus. So go ahead: order, eat, fall in love, repeat. -

Ordered delivery. $15 minimum was a selling point.
Had two lamb wraps and some falafel balls. Everything was really good. Excellent value, and quick delivery. -

I came here because my friends brought me here, otherwise I would not have known about this place. I don't usually eat Greek food so I was not familiar with the menu and what was good. My friends had ordered the lamb and beef gyro so I did the same. I must say, it was delicious.
I'm not sure what it was about the food, whether it was the meat or the sauce but I could not stop eating it. Now I know I can't really compare it to other gyros but you must know that the food is good if you are not willing to put down your food, it has to be good.
I heard that a lot of people complained about the interior design about this place but I'm not sure how the decorations can affect how good your food is.
The staff was very friendly and the food came out pretty quickly. I would go back again. -

Not only did Park Gyros provide me with the best delivery I've ever had, but it was also some of the best Greek food I've ever had! I ordered the mixed fish salad
and veggie combo which also came with warm pita bread. The vegetable plate was perfect; I've never had such good falafel, the salads were delicious as was the dolma, tabouli, hummus and baba ghanoush. The fish salad wad equally as amazing; the swordfish was grilled perfectly and they give you a whole fillet of salmon. For just 22.00 I was brought enough food for at least two days. This is now my go to place for delivery! -

After a recommendation from my extremely nice (foodie) cab driver I stopped here before heading into the botanical garden. There isn't much seating, which was fine because I spent maybe 10 minutes waiting/eating.
I simply got a lamb gyro and quite honestly I think it may have been the best gyro I've had in a while. I'm not sure if it is because I was starving by the time I arrived, (I took the baby bullet from san jose at like 4am and had been walking up and down hills all morning, hah.) but it was amazing and it was wrapped so well I didn't get tzatziki everywhere! -
Review from Jennifer W.
San Francisco, CA
I used to love this place, but the last two times we've ordered from them it's been a failure.
I usually order the chicken kabob with no sauce. Last time we ordered there was an ABUNDANCE of sauce on it, as if the replaced "no" with extra. They also added some weird cheese to it.
Tonight I ordered the same thing, chicken kabob with no sauce. My boyfriend ordered a lamb wrap and asked them to add hot sauce to his. The delivery took 90 minutes to arrive (I can't imagine they're THAT busy on a Monday night). First, both the container and the actual fries were soggy as if something had been spilled on them. My boyfriend opened his to find no hot sauce. I opened mine and not only found plenty of sauce (which I asked them not to put on), but it was also slathered in hot sauce.
I can forgive a restaurant for one slip up, but two in a row with every item screwed up is ridiculous. Definitely won't order from them again. -

The gyros are served in wrap form rather than pocket form, which is a disturbing, disturbing trend. Pitas are hollow for a reason. Stop wrapping that shit up. Also, I need a lot more sauce and grease oozing out. At the end of the meal, my plate was clean.
Clean, yo. Clean.... -

Park Gyros makes for great - relatively healthy picnic food.
Their vegetarian plate is ideal for toting to the park. A convenient mixture of fluffy flavorful falafel, creamy hummus, slightly spicy tabuleh, smoky baba ghanoush, a potato dish, grape leaves, and of course some hot doughy pita bread.
Though I've definitely had better Turkish food in the city - Park Gryos is a good option for quick, decent Mediterranean food. Their staff are friendly, their food is tasty, and I love that they keep this place stocked with root beer, chocolate milk, as well as massive servings of rice pudding. Oh and the real clincher? - They deliver....
mmmmmmm....rice pudding.
Trust. -

San Francisco, CA
Park Gyros really has the prime location ever since the tourist scene exploded with the reopening of De Young and Academy of Sciences. For hungry park-goers, a delicious wrap is a very convenient and inexpensive meal option. Instead of dining in (let's face it, Park Gyros doesn't get high marks in the ambiance/decor department), you should just pick something and go enjoy it in the park that's literally a stop light away.
I have only had their falafel wrap. Got all the standard ingredients and tastes great. I still like Sunrise's falafel wrap better, but some days you find yourself closer to the 9th than the 22nd. Such is life. -
Review from T.C. J.
This place is legit. The food is served fast and fresh and the staff is really friendly. I read some reviews about people complaining about the interior, but come on people this isnt five star dinning. It's fast, high quality Mediterranean food at a reasonable albeit not cheap price.
The lamb/beef gyro wrap is right on and the portion is pretty reasonable compared to the price. I've also tried the chicken gyro, and falafel gyro both of which were good but not great. The best on the menu IMO is the Swordfish Kabob wrap. Damn, was this good. Gotta order it spicy though so the hot sauce is already inside the wrap.
If you don't want to eat there get it to go and head over to the Little Shamrock next door to wash it down with some cheap beers. -

My girlfriend and I finally decided to try this place out after driving by it so many times.
If you plan on driving there: Don't, parking around that area is hit or miss and I'd would instead recommend walking or using the Muni.
When we got there, the first thing that struck me was how small the place is compared to how it looks on the outside. Definitely not a place you want to go to with a crowd. There were also a few flies buzzing around and the mere act of walking in made you feel greasy (and not in a good way).
I ended up getting a lamb gyro and a lemonade. The lemonade was the only enjoyable part of my meal. First, there was little to no lamb in the entire wrap. I found only 2 minuscule pieces in the pile of lettuce and tomato. The ranch they had decided to slather all over the inside of the wrap tasted like it had gone bad several weeks ago and the lettuce had been left to fester in it.
I had essentially spent $8 on a poorly made salad that someone had let sit in the fridge for too long but couldn't bring themselves to throw away.
The spanakopita that my girlfriend ordered also left her with a bad taste in her mouth as the spinach tasted like it was still defrosting after some bad freezer burn.
We couldn't bring ourselves to finish because it was that bad. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone and would suggest you take your money elsewhere.
(PS: I say that it's not good for kids because no child should have to suffer eating that terrible food) -

I love being able to see my meat before they cook it. I guess it's the Chinese in me, always wanting a spectacle. Here, they have a glass case that proudly displays steel swords of kebabs, ground meat anada and platters of "eggplant salad," etc. The veg on the swords looked colorful and fresh.
And I love the most that they serve french fries. Park Gyro is located next to the Little Shamrock. After nursing a diet coke for 2 hours, I worked up an appetite worthy of a side of fries.
A lamb shish kebab wrap was $6.95 and a side of fries was $3.xx. The to-go container held a small offering of ketchup, as if to anticipate the need for dipping. The fries could have used more salt. And seeing as I scurried back to the 'Rock, I did not have access to salt.
Currently, on this day and month, I'm catching a cold. Thus my facilities are impaired. I will be diligent and return henceforth to do more food consumption at this place, since it is so close to a soon-to-be regular board game hang out.

I'm a lazy bastard, so I'm all too fond of ordering delivery from time to time. Well it's all too easy to fall into that usual Chinese/Indian/Pizza rut when it comes to ordering out, so it's great that a place like Park Gyros exists to spice up your options when ordering take-out in the area.
The food is always tasty and plentiful here, and the delivery service is always pretty speedy. The Alexander Kabob is a constant favorite of mine and never disappoints. As Turkish food goes, I'd say that the food isn't quite up to the level of say A La Turka but it's always good enough to order again. Besides, how could you possibly complain about tasty hot Turkish food being delivered to your door? Exactly, you can't. -
Review from Rachel S.
We just ordered in from Park Gyros, and DAMN our food came quick! It was so hot I could smell the deliciousness coming right off the food.
We got the Baba Ganoush, Cacik, Potato Salad, and a Lamb & Beef Gyro. Everything was really fresh and tasty.
Also, I just ate there for the first time with my roommate and the experience was pretty awesome. The wraps are stuffed to exploding with juicy, meaty goodness, (or falafel-y goodness, if you prefer) and the guy behind the counter was extremely nice. We re-wrapped our wraps to go (because they were so ginormous we couldn't finish them), and he noticed us putting them in our purses so he offered us plastic bags, to protect our precious stuff. :)
And the Cacik (yogurt salad) is homemade and is something so delicious I crave it on a weekly basis. Light, yummy, and good for you, too!
I also found that some people gave bad reviews because they didn't bother to pay attention to what they were ordering, and out of deep love for this place I need to point a few things out:
1) It's not ranch sauce on the wraps, it's tzatziki, which is VERY different. It's clearly written on their menu that they put tzatziki in their wraps, so please don't give them a hard time because you aren't familiar with Mediterranean food.
2) The wraps are in lavash bread, not pita (ALSO stated on their menu), and not a "thin tortilla", which I actually think is nice because then the starch doesn't overwhelm you or fill you up too much. You can focus on the meaty, magical goodness.
More love for Park Gyros!Listed in: Tummy-gasms

The Lamb and Beef Gyro is pricey and tasted OK, and this is how I came to my conclusion:
Came here last weekend with a mindset that I'm in a new city, with new things to see, new food to taste, new people to interview, and idea of freshness. My senses were more acute than back at my hometown (Los Angeles). My poor first experience with Greek / Mediterranean food @ Daphnes Greek Express a few years ago was put aside, and I was ready to give Greek / Med. food another try. Afterall, most things do deserve a second shot...
There's a lot of buzz about the Lamb & Beef Gyro on Yelp, so ordering was made simple ... simply sad because it didn't bode too well with my taste buds. Best way I can describe the taste is how I would describe the taste a few years back, "bland, but tickles my taste buds" and with the addition of the lettuce/tomato taste. I'm just not used to the type of food, and my gf would have to concur.
As my gf and I sat against the aesthetically missing window with the fresh breeze blowing through while digesting our meal, my eyes wandered to a burrito like an aim-bot's crosshair to an opponents head. My eyes tracked the burrito till it was out of my peripheral vision and required my head to swivel left. A burrito would have been one of the few ways that could have made up for the gryo's lack of flavor. -

Walked by Park Gyros at 9pm and their doors were wide open and we decided to give it a shot. The boyfriend & I ordered the Lamb Gyros, Fries, and a drink.
Our food came with the quickness. Their Gyros were shaped differently than any other mediterranean resteraunt ive been to.
It was more of a burrito like GYRO wrap. It definitely did not have a typical gyro look but it was delicious and tasted better than anyone elses gyro. just enough onion, meat, tzatziki sauce it was perfect.
We both got an order of fries, and realized how much potato we got.
I would suggest just ordering one side of fries and split them.
The menu clearly states if you want a refill, you will be charged for another drink.. However, while I was eating the cashier gave me a refill and didnt mention any fee I owed, so that was thoughtful. -

I came to Park Gyros one night around 10:00pm famished, in dear need of nutrition. I don't know if the food was glorious in and of itself, or if I was that hungry that taste didn't matter.
I had the Veggie Combo plate and there were so many options! Did I want to dip my pitas in this or that? Eat the fluffiness and goodness by itself? Just with the veggie combo plate alone, I had so many choices. The food was very high quality and tasted amazing.
Open late. Cheap. "Homemade," according to the lady. Good. $3.00 beer. Good service. How can you not go wrong?
Would highly recommend this place to everybody.
