This was my favorite of the Park City resorts. It does not have the great food that I had at the Canyons or the lack of snowboarders at Deer Valley. What it does have is great easily accessible trails for all skill levels. Speaking as an upper intermediate skier trying to improve, I loved that Park City had relatively short black runs that are sometimes groomed. I'm not very comfortable with moguls but have become comfortable with all non-moguly blues and double blues so I appreciated that I was able to try my hand with some groomed blacks at Park City. I loved the fact that every lift had at least 1 blue run off it so I was able to access all parts of the mountain. There's a lot of great runs but I have to give special mention to the glorious mountainside view off Assessment. Make sure you get the discount tickets at ski stores since the normal day lift price is $96 but you can get 2 of 7 discounted tickets at $68/day.

P.S. It's also 1 of the 2 SLC/PC resorts that offers night skiing, along with Brighton. The day lift ticket lasts from 9-9 so there's no extra cost for a night lift ticket.

A dismal season for snow in Cali, drove us to Utah...My friends and I decided to make a trip that coincided with the Sundance Film festival and this resort is perfectly located exactly where the festival is.  The lift tickets are overpriced but you can get discounted tickets at Canyon sports in Salt Lake city.

It snowed the night before our first day here and it didn't disappoint.  The mountain is big and there's plenty of groomed trails to ride on.  There are tree runs that has some freshies and those were a blast to shred.  It wasn't too busy when we were there but it definitely has a touristy vibe to it.

Overall, a fun mountain to shred, doesn't have the most advanced runs but definitely a fun mountain.

Overpriced and would be awesome obviously with fresh powder.

Utah as a whole definitely sucks when it comes to alcohol, and people.

The alcohol is 3.2% and the people seem like big moron snobs that should really check themselves and realize where they are... the middle of nowhere.

I have been skiing most of my life and have done so all over Colorado, but this was my first trip to Utah. I was very excited to visit Park City as I have always heard great things about the town as well as the mountain resorts. Park City Mountain did not disappoint.

This has been a tough year for snow in Utah. I am used to a 50" - 60" base, so when I arrived to find an 18" base I was very concerned. Well the concern lasted all of 30 minutes. While there was only 18" of snow on the ground, Park City was totally ski-able. The resort did a good job of communicating what was and was not open and the conditions on the open runs were better than average.

Being new to a large mountain resort it is easy to get lost and spend an inordinate amount of time trying to navigate the mountain. Not here. The resort is covered with well marked trails and large trail maps at the top of each lift.  In addition each trail map is accompanied by an actual human being who is more than happy to direct you wherever you might want to go.

There are plenty of lifts and most of them are high speed. All of them have well thought out corrals and when needed someone is there to direct traffic. Park City uses RFID lift ticket so you can leave the ticket in your pocket and go through the automated gates on the lower lifts to get on the mountain.  Super efficient and the system works great, just make sure the pass is in a pocket by itself away from your cell phone so there is no interference.

If there was one small disappointment, it was that there are not enough large, evergreen trees on the Utah mountains which makes for a somewhat barren feeling in a lot of places on the mountain, but I won't blame the resort for that :-)

Kudos to Park City Mountain for the great work they do!

One of my life goals when it comes to snowboarding was to go to Park City Mountain Resort and I did just that.  One of the best skiing experiences I've EVER had!  If you're staying in SLC know that this resort is ONLY 30 minutes away.  Not only is it 30 minutes away its a beautiful 30 minutes so it goes quickly.  Park City has such a unique feel that's so different from the East Coast.  It's got a village feel to where there are so many areas you can shop and do different things.  On our way there I was one of those folks pumping the breaks trying to look at everything which I'm sure pissed off everyone that was behind me (sorry guys us Ice Coasters don't get all of this).

When you pull into the main parking lot you're right in front of the main ski area, you'll have to walk a bit to get to the Crescent and Payday lift but once you get strapped in you'll have those to choose from and after that you'll be in the fresh powder.  I would go on a weekday (obviously) because there was absolutely NO lift lines.  We didn't have to wait a single time so we spent most of our day snowboarding and that was a new feeling we had because we always seem to stand no matter if we go during the day or night.  The varied terrain was such a great thing to see EVEN if we made a FEW wrong turns that took us to some pretty steep terrain.  We had to make our way down those steep parts but they were so enjoyable!  I even bought myself an I'm DIFFICULT T-shirt with that Black Diamond on the front.  Yeah, I was happy about that!  I'll go ahead and say it -- I.WAS.HAPPY.

Seriously, the varied terrain, the pure SIZE of the place and the fact that there were no lift lines were an easy 5 stars.  We see why you west coast folks are spoiled, and I just wish i can be spoiled like that as well!

I came opening weekend and as a noob, the staff is friendly and encouraging.  I'm not an avid snowboarder, you'll have to refer to the other reviews in terms of the terrain.

The little cafes at base camp make THE BEST hot chocolate, just enough sweetness and creaminess.

Unfortunately we were at Park City Resort when there wasn't a whole lot of snow on the mountains this Holiday/Winter Break. The black diamond runs were all closed, but the blue and the green runs were really fun! The lines weren't too bad and the service was great. I liked the electronic lift passes because you just stuck it in your pocket and walked through the metal gates to get in the lifts... much faster than other resorts that have to scan your individual lift tickets. The best part was that the passes we bought from Costco were all day passes which went into night skiing! We were able to wake up at a decent time, have breakfast, not worry about rushing to the slopes and still have ample time to get enough skiing in because we had until 9 p.m. with the all day passes- truly a great deal. I would like to come back and visit when there is more snow on the mountain!

Nice skiing on the greens and blues considering the lack of snow for UT. Customer service is awesome...especially towards the kids.

Travelers tip:  Rental cars at Salt Lake City airport are cheap.  Compare prices before you spend money on the round-trip shuttle services.

This review is for both the resort and the town.

It truly is a beautiful and wonderful place.  Most of the customer service here is fantastic.  As someone else wrote, the cafe at the mountain base (by the Payday lift) has a RIDICULOUSLY AWESOME hot chocolate.

We were there over the new year and unfortunately they had pretty bad snow.  But coming from NY, their "pretty bad" snow was still 10000x better than what we have.

I can't wait to go back.

This mountain resort was gorgeous. Lots of things to do and all kinds of people from all walks of life.. I felt like I was at Disneyland with all the different nationalities..

I came here to learn how to snowboard and have heard all kinds of horror stories bout learning. Well my learning experience was okay. I thought my snowboard instructor Greg was a little short with me since I didn't pick up the sport  as fast as the other two girls. I have never been to the mountains and I have only seen snow three times in my life so I don't expect to pick up snow boarding like I was going for gold in the X-games. Greg said he had been teaching for 23 years and I think he needs to leave the customer service biz...burnt out. He was frustrated with me and told me I wasn't trying.. really? Are you in my body??? Whatever.. He told me my snow board was too advanced for me and I should use the rentals. Well, I didn't pay that much for it and if you are going to learn you should learn on the board you are going to riding on. I thought it was rude of him to say that. Anyway, I would try and get a girl instructor if your a female, maybe they will be a little understanding. Plus it was $115 for half day instruction, half day ski lift, and rentals. My BF wanted me to complain have them re-teach me the next day since I thought he wasn't all that nice and accommodating. I should have.. but shoulda coulda...

But its not going to deter me in still learning the sport. Just wants me to keep trying and then go back to that instructor and show him.. remember the girl that you said wasn't trying??? What up now???Lol...

I would drive to Brighton and learn there if your a newbie. Less crowds and its more of a snowboard mountain anyways...

This is a tough review for me to write. I'm so torn.

I LOVE Park City. I learned to ski at the Kinder School here when I was three, and have been back every year for the past 22. I grew up listening to legends about Jupiter Bowl runs and watching my Dad and uncles race down Thaynes notorious mogul field trying not to stop. I know the mountain like the back of my hand. I crave the Mid Mountain Lodge's "spuds swimming" mashed potatoes with gravy as a ski day lunch, no matter where I am. And miss the old, slow, gondola ride to the top of Bonanza with its switching station (two high speed 6 pack lifts now). I adore the old mining equipment around the mountain, and the town lift is always fun.

That said, over the past few years, the Canyons has blown it out of the water. Tickets are expensive. They got rid of Steeps which was a great apres ski bar at the base... bummer. There are SO MANY obnoxious local kids in the parks. No one calls their drops on the jumps, or as they enter the parks. Runs like Blueslip bowl are practically groomed, instead of a nice fluffly bowl. And as much as I love the nostalgia of the two person lifts on Jupiter and Thaynes, they're dated and slow.

I totally recommend coming here for the history, and to see all the resorts in Park City, but don't spend your whole week (or weekend) here if you can help it.

love it, love it, love it!!!

I haven't been to Park City Mountain Resort in a long time, but the mountain is still as scenic, beautiful, and well kept as ever!

During the week of March 11 to 18, I went skiing five days and the conditions were excellent (except that it snowed while we were skiing on two days).  I really enjoyed myself and the high speed six chairs get you up the mountain quickly so you can enjoy more runs!

The one time we were going to try Jupiter Bowl, it had just been closed due to high winds.  The rest of the mountain is gorgeous with any type of run you could hope for.  Since I hadn't skied in a long, long time, I mainly went down intermediate and advance intermediate runs, which was fine by me (my thighs were burning towards the end of the day).  We mainly went down runs off the Silverlode, Motherlode, and King Con lifts.  One of the best parts of the day is going from the top of the mountain all the way down to the bottom non-stop!

If you have a chance, ski Park City!  You'll LOVE IT!

I think a lot of people know about Park City because of the Winter Olympics, but what they don't know is that because the Sundance Film Festival has long outgrown its original location, many of the films are actually screened right here in Park City.  As a result you find the most eclectic mix of clubs, bars, and restaurants (yes, even in Utah) here in Park City.

And the skiing?  Well, if it was good enough for the Olympics, lets say it's going to be good enough for even the biggest snow snob.  Best night skiing run.  Ever.

I've been here 3x and I really like this resort.  I made the most progress in snowboarding at this resort.  I don't like how pack it gets during Spring Break though. The only part that I don't like about this park is where the bunny slopes are so far away from the main resort area... it's a long trek up hill.

Snow here is awesome and it is definitely worth going at the end of the season because there is no one at the resort and you get all the trails to yourself. The snow isn't great in April but it's still fun for the price you pay.

I hope to see this resort again at the end of this year. The scenery is beautiful.

Great tree runs, several advanced terrain parks, BIG ASS mountain! Night riding is f* awesome! Only 3 chair lifts are open, but who cares as long as I get to ride. Good selection of restaurants and bars on the mountain, cuz you know it's very important to have liquid courage!

Lift tickets can be kinda steep, but overall well worth it!

I just spent four incredible days on the mountain at Park City Mountain Resort. I spent my days making powder turns, doing tree runs, taking "first tracks" with my kids and exploring all five "adventure alley's" (right now, TNT is my favorite).

But one of the highlights of my trip didn't require any snow, although strapping on my snowboard was involved... that's right, not only did I spend four days riding the mountain, I spent four days eating my way through the mountain.

I don't know about you, but one of my favorite parts about skiing and snowboarding is LUNCH on the mountain. Next time you're hitting the slopes at Park City Mountain Resort, I definitely recommend the following yumminess:

    * Summit House: Sweet Potato Fries
    * Mid-Mountain Lodge: Grilled Cheese with Bacon and Tomato or  Meatball Sandwich with homemade chips, or any of the Home-made Soups
    * The Legacy Cafe: Hand-cut French Fries and fry sauce, the Salad Bar (it's ginormous) and any of their Daily Specials
    * Legends Bar & Grill: Legends Burger, Chicken or Ahi Nachos
    * Cobra Dogs: Cheddaconda Dog served "Cobra Style"
    *  Don't forget the Hot Chocolate. All of the "on-mountain" Lodges and The Legacy Cafe serve Hot Chocolate out of a machine. While totally unexpected, it's rich and  extremely creamy. Yum!

There you have it. My can't-miss-must-eat list fabulous foodie favorites on the mountain at Park City Mountain Resort. The next your there I dare you to "eat your way through the mountain."

Some of the best damn snow I have ever encountered. The powder is just amazing. I was here for Sundance and couldn't leave Park City without trying the slopes. How many places can you board at from 9am-9pm?

I enjoyed all the restaurants and rental places at Park City. I rented gear for a reasonable amount (sub $40) and hit the slopes until about 7pm.

Boarding at night isn't as freaky as I thought it would be. Hardly anyone out there and you can see everything you need to see. It does get a bit colder and you definitely feel the cold on the lift but other than that it's perfect.

The names of their runs cracked me up, especially "widowmaker".

I am definitely going back. Utah is a great destination for snowsports.

Park City Mountain Resort was my first real experience at a higher end ski park.  I haven't been to that many ski parks in my limited years of snowboarding, so I'm definitely no expert.

But I can definitely understand what the allure is about this park.  The runs are perfectly groomed and the wait for the lifts are minimal.  Everything runs and looks up to par, which is definitely reflected in the price you pay.  Because they are so well organized, there are a lot of classes going on, so lots of families and kids (which is a good thing and bad depending on who you are.)

There are even dining options that require you to take the chair lift up.

The cool thing is that they are open in the evenings - so I literally had a slope all to myself!  Sure, it gets a bit cold out there without the sun shining on you, but it was definitely an experience!

The nearby Mountain Resort Village has plenty of shops to keep you busy, including an ice skating rink, coffee shop, pub, etc.

We also discovered that most locals don't visit this ski resort.  There are plenty of other ones in Park City and Salt Lake City itself that they stick to.  So in other words, mostly out-of-towners will be here!

We also found discounted tickets for multiple day use at Costco!  Sweet!

The snow here was PERFECT during our recent 5-day Utah visit. They got dumped with an average of 5-6 inches each day we were there, so finding freshies off the Jupiter and McConkey's lifts were a piece of cake.

Lines were nonexistent (midweek, non-holiday) and almost all of their lifts are 6-passenger. Assuming they load the chairs efficiently, I'm sure the lines move swiftly in the more crowded areas.

I particularly like their use of color-coded "mountain zones," which gives you a great visual as to what areas you can ski off of each lift. Many of the multi-peak mountains are hard to decipher when looking at a printed map, so this was very helpful for us our first time here.

As for the town, there are some great (albeit some overpriced) spots along Main Street, and a free shuttle scoots you all around, up until 2:00 am every night. We were staying at The Yarrow, which was right across from one of the stops. It's nice to see that Utah did away with (most of) their silly alcohol/bar antics, however most tap beers are still 3.2% ABV and mixed drinks can only have one shot of 40% liquor inside.

It was a pretty well run ski resort. I went during Sundance film fest weekend and it was surprisingly not that packed. The greens were alright. Good enough to teach the newbies and for me to practice/improve. The blues were good too, a few flat areas but I got through it just fine.

This was my first time night skiing and it lasted til 9pm! Also, we flew in around noon and took advantage of the free quick start pass. Can't beat that. There were also several rental shops and bars/restaurants to choose from. I ended up eating at Pub Grill. They had yummy chicken tenders and bohemian beer.

This place is friggin awesome.  The mountain was really bad ass to snowboard on. (being my first time, of course.)

I took two snowboarding classes while I was there, and both the instructors were UBER knowledgeable and SUPER friendly.  I could not ask for more from my instructors.

Lifts were easily accessible and fast.

But...it's pretty expensive here.  Each class was $100 and did not include a ski lift pass.

If you got the money, PLEASE visit this place.  Park City is such a sweet, little town that you would find straight from the movies.  Definitely had an old, small town feel.  Loved it.

Although the ski conditions were great, I was bored with the mountain after two days.  The runs aren't very generous for providing a long haul down and a quick ride back up.  The more difficult runs usually had a 2 person old fashioned lift to get back up.  Typically these are pretty slow.  By day three, I usually kept over to the Pioneer Bowl which was a lil more adventurous although it's a pain in the butt to get to.

Prices here are honestly ridiculous to ski.  Over $100 per day is wayyy too much.  Really the only reason we came here was because we got a tremendous lift ticket deal at Costco.  $280 for 5 days was pretty good...I give Costco the credit though.  The lift tickets were only good at Park City Mountain Resort so it's not like I could go to Deer Valley or the Canyons.  I think I'll stick with the Vail Resorts of Colorado which allow me to go to Vail, Keystone, Breckenridge, and Beaver Creek.

I enjoyed my time here but doubt I'd come back.  I do like the free buses all throughout the town.  Good call there.

The mountain is big and the terrain is varied.  I have enjoyed this mountain for about 6 years, and as I improve I enjoy the mountain even more.  Not because I can go more places, which I can, but because I realize how much it has to offer and how there is always a place off the beaten path.  If you explore you can find a place that is special to you.

Most lift lines aren't horrendous, once you make your way up the mountain.  The food isn't awful, though I recommend stashing a sandwich in your jkt and buying some fries and drink.  Most lifts are pretty fast, but don't be deterred by those that aren't, they often take you somewhere great.

We're temporary locals and really enjoy going to PC mountain for skiing and boarding.  The lines move fairly fast and there's a good range of runs for beginners to experts.  It's also a pretty safe mountain as I haven't seen a lot of people doing stupid things that put others in danger.  Everyone at PCMR is super nice, parking usually isn't an issue, and we always have a great time.

However, I have a huge problem with the self-proclaimed supervisor working the season ticket office on 8/27 who was ridiculously rude to us.  We bought season passes in July from a lovely woman and a few weeks later got a call from the office saying the passes were available for pick up.  When we went to pick up the passes a woman behind the counter looked at us like we were morons and said, "That's impossible because we don't have any passes."  Umm.  Okay? Well, we got the calls and have voicemails telling us we can pick up our passes, sooo...  After asking a few questions, because she wasn't offering any pertinent/helpful information, she became very rude and said, "Well you keep interrupting and aren't LISTENING," which was totally ridiculous. If someone isn't explaining a situation, the next logical step is to ask questions.  She became so nasty that my husband told her she shouldn't talk to customers that way and then she rolled her eyes and gave an insincere, salty apology.  It would be a travesty to the field of customer service if she is actually a supervisor.

Spent 4 days here.  All without long lines (compared to So. Lake Tahoe) and great snow.  I thought it was awesome.  Took a little to get use to the Utah snow (liquid ball bearings) but after a day it was fun.

The front side basically is open through the evening, so if you get some early runs and then take a break, you can be back on the mountain on 3:00 and then ride through dark.  Though we never rode past 6.

The best part of Park City was being able to dine in the town.  Simply awesome.

The powder here is always AMAZING and lift lines go quick. Good variety of slopes and for those just starting out the bunny hill is this wwwwwiiiiiiddddddeeeeeee. Another plus, the lift ticket don't cost a bajillion dollars.

However once you get beyond the bunny hill there isn't a huge variety of greens so you'll either end up going down Homerun 50 times or have to learn how to go down blues.

Oh yea and free bus service throughout the area.

My favorite place in the states and it's even better after a huge dump! I absolutely love Park City. I pick Park City over the Canyons. There are many lift and a lot of great runs. The lines might be long at the bottom of the mountain but once you get up there it's just you and the  mountain. Make sure you don't ride all the way down but instead you should just  keep hitting the lifts mid mountain. Great conditions and great resort!

Spent 3 days here and had a great time. It didn't snow at all and stayed in the 30-40 degree range, so I can't say much regarding the difference in snow compared to Denver.

However the variety of slopes was good for an intermediate/advanced snowboarder. If you are a beginner I would pick a different resort for variety of runs. I think there were only a few long greens.

Glad they had a small park for beginners on jumps like me. They also had a carved out trail through the trees, which was a lot of fun. (called Powder Monkey I believe).

3 days here was good. I would probably add another resort to the itinerary if you are looking to spend more time on the slopes.

What a wonderful mountain. So many lifts, so many runs. Today was sunny and warm; whats called a Bluebird day.

Skiing during the weekday with short lines, tons of runs and the ability to ski from top to bottom made this day great. Looking at the trail map, I only missed two lifts (Three Kings and Thaynes).

One reason that persuaded us to ski Park City is that you can get tickets for $55 (Booklet of 5 tickets, $275) at Costco. BIG caution: Do not rip out the tickets yourself as they will not be honored. The ticket booth / office must remove the ticket(s) only!

The Mountain Resort Village has plenty of rental shops, an ice skating rink, Pubs, Coffee house and shopping.

    02.19.10 and 02.20.10

    3,300 acres of terrain.

    $20 roller coaster ride.

Eaglet lift quickly takes you up to the park.

Plenty of long blue runs for noobs like me.

Even when there is a line at the lifts, the crowd seems to dissipate as you get off the lift.  The mountain really does feel like it's yours and yours alone.  Amazing.

    Dry, buttery powder.  Enough said.

A beautiful sunny spring day with freshly fallen snow from the evening before was the perfect start to a week's worth of skiing. We arrived late morning, parked, walked over to the lifts and soon we were headed up on the mountains.

I was spoiled in that my sister lives here, wears the same size clothing and shoes so guess who had to pack ZERO ski clothes, boots or skis? Moi - that's who. I guess little sisters come in handy for something after all. She had our lift tickets purchased so all I had to do was show up.

Very friendly staff kept the lift lines moving. The runs were fun, well maintained and marked. Skiers and snowboarders exist in relative harmony here - enough fun for everyone. It seems as the snowboarders are treated more like equals here than over at Deer Valley. Can't we all just get along?

About an hour's drive from SLC airport, the resort has plenty of parking, places to stay, shopping and dining. Scenery is gorgeous and the skies are clear.

It's a lot of work to come to Park City during Sundance as sharing the city with Festers can try your patience so I advise waiting till that hoo haw is over to come skiing at PC.

I had the BEST skiing day ever here, March 28th, 2011.  It snowed the entire day all the blues were amazing and ridiculously fun to ski on, it was floating on powder on top of powder, on top of powder on top of groomed snow.  The runs here go a lot more quicker than over at the Canyons, a little steeper as well.  Ski life operators are very nice, they always say hi and ask how your day is going.  My favorite run at the end of the day is taking Treasure Way all the way home.  Up in the mountains, I really like Mel's Alley and over by King Con, I like Sitka and Shamus.

How do I begin to describe my experience? I'm clumsy and I lost my cellphone, my rental car key, and dunno what else while I was snowboarding this past weekend in Park City, but all the most important stuff were found by the visitors and returned to me. All I want to say is the hospitality of the patrons and visitors are top notch here, I totally appreciate it.

The runs may not be good due to the hot weather, but the service made up for it. I was really impressed. And for you guys, budget travellers, don't get the tickets at the resort; go to SLC and look for Canyon Sports (not to be mistaken with The Canyon resort), you'll get a day ticket for $58/day if you play 2 days, instead of $85/day. It's $27 savings per day for god's sake, even half a day tix still costs $66 at PC resort!!! Sheezhhh...

The terrains were great, but the diamonds and double diamonds, I can't believe the skiers/snowboarders have to hike 20minutes to get to the top, so not fun.... they should create one with the gondola so everyone could enjoy the view without knowing how to snowboard/ski. Well, I shouldn't complain, cause I enjoyed my time while I was there and once again, the service, visitors, and view were all great. Wouldn't mind coming back when it's early in the season!!!

Park City is one of my favorite places to go snowboarding (the other being Whistler Blackcomb)! The runs aren't nearly as long as they are at Whistler, but there is a decent amount of terrain to explore. The things for me that push it up to one of my rare 5 star reviews is that the snow here is the best IMHO, and the runs get great natural lighting. Payday runs open until 7pm can also be entertaining if you're not quite ready to go home when the rest of the mountain closes. 6 person cushioned chair lifts are a nice touch as well, and can mitigate long lines from building up. 5 stars!

    Beautiful resort!

You never forget your first, and Park City was my first virgin powder through the trees and down a perfect bowl....

That said, it's huge, the powder is orgasmic, and there are a LOT of easily accessible bowls [read: tree riding without going out of resort bounds, having to hike to the nearest lift, or finding yourself in the middle of rocks and cliffs].

One downside: it's super crowded, especially around the holidays.

Don't take the lift in the summer.

A group of nine of us took it with young children today. We were told round trip it would be 45 minutes and that there were plenty of nice walks down. It took us over an hour one-way. There was nothing wrong with the lift just a bunch of riders. We baked in the sun on an excruciatingly long trip; the five kids that we had with us were really bummed out.  Once at the top, there are no facilities or mapped walking trails. We hoofed it down a steep catwalk to another area and took a bus back to main street.

We talked to many other people headed the other way on the lift who were really bummed out to have to take it down - all having been misinformed.

Shame on you Park City. We won't return.
