7 reviews for Park Avenue Laser Vision
One of the Business' Favorite Reviews What's This?
Dr. Chynn has the latest technology and equipment to performance lasik surgery. He is very experienced and attentive. My friend came here and now his vision is 20/20!
I will recommend go for a free consultation with Dr. Chynn first to find out if you are eligible.
I saw Dr. Chynn this time for my follow-up and it was MUCH better. I got permanent punctual plugs inserted in my upper punctua (I've already got permanent ones in my lower). This will defintely help the halos I'm seeing, and in the future I may need a touch up.
Yay for making things right!

I'm starting to get annoyed at my two most recent follow ups. There's been a bunch of new fellows… Read more »
The Dr at Parlk Avenue Lasrer is socially retarded. Dr Chynn is an enormous egomaniac that speaks down to everyone. There really is something wrong with this man.
Avoid, there are good caring Dr's in NYC
I had my surgery on Thursday, June 26th late in the afternoon. I was nervous at first, but my friend was a great coach. I highly recommend having someone extremely patient who will talk you through your fears and comfort you. Needless to say, the procedure was quick and painless, and when I sat up I could see perfectly! I literally lost it and cried tears of joy. I felt like the family in Extreme Home Makeover when they move the bus. It was one of the happiest moments of my life. Dr. Chynn and the rest of the staff were all very supportive and friendly and were great at answering questions and putting my mind at ease.
I spent the next few days indoors with friends entertaining me and I slept for most of the time. By Monday I had the bandage lenses off (which means they healed yay!). A month later, my life is completely changed for the better. For a while I had to stop myself from wanting to "take my contacts" out before bed and got excited every time I realized they weren't there anymore! I started out with a -10 prescription and I am now legal to drive, contact lense and glasses-free!
I highly recommend not only LASEK but the wonderful staff at Dr. Chynn's practice. I owe them my peace of mind!
My surgery was did not go well and I had to return for a second zapping. So why 5 stars? Because in any medical procedure a percentage of patients suffer complications--as the third law of thermodynamics states, shit happens--but Dr Chynn went out of his way to make things right and now that the dust has cleared I'm better than 20/20 (from 20/450).
With his media-driven advertising, better-looking website than the competitors, and lots of high praise from his web-savvy patients, I was drawn to schedule a consultation with Dr. Chynn at Park Avenue Laser. When I arrived for my consultation I was disappointed to learn that Dr. Chynn was not in (and while waiting, I overheard the receptionists say "out-of-state"). Instead, my consultation was done by one of his refractive fellows Dr. Puri. Dr. Puri examined me carefully and overall was very friendly. She also seemed very passionate about Dr. Chynn's epi-LASEK method and was sure that it would be perfect for me. I was seeing other laser eye surgery places around the same time, so I tried to take in everything as objectively as possible. Luckily, I got no "sales pitch" by any salesperson here. I felt that their website, blog, YouTube videos, and the folder they gave me with very detailed sheets did the job of getting in their potential patients.
I scheduled to see a live surgery and was told Dr. Chynn could squeeze me in for 5-10 minutes afterwards. I wasn't sure if that was adequate time to assess a surgeon (at most of the other laser eye surgery places I was with the surgeon much longer than that). In the end I decided not to have laser eye surgery at Park Avenue. When I called to cancel, the girl on the phone surprised me by switching her voice from pleasant to cold. She hung up on me right when I was about tell her to thank Dr. Puri. Park Avenue Laser did seem busy and the receptionists a little stressed out, but if you tried to be patient and nice to them, they were nice to you. So I found it rude when the girl hung up on me abruptly, and I couldn't help feeling a little hurt and mad.
What if I decided to consider them again in the future because I had a good consultation? I don't know if the girl on the phone was having a rough day, but she could benefit to learn that a gracious rejection can lead to better opportunities. A friend asked me to recommend her some laser eye surgery places and I recommended her Diamond Vision. They were very professional and courteousness, even after I rejected them (the consultant did a follow-up), which reflected well on their center. I'm guessing Park Avenue Laser does more consultations than surgeries and it would benefit them (if they wanted) to use even their rejected consultations to bring in more consultations.
Sidenote: I found it odd that there was a surgery setup by the front window. I guess it works in bringing in curiosity to the practice.
Dr. Emil Chynn is unprofessional and inappropriate. He seems to be a decent surgeon, but DON'T QUESTION HIM in any way or he'll become nasty and threaten to discharge you from his practice! He also yells at and demeans his staff in front of patients! I had my surgery by him 4 years ago and now I have blurry vision in one eye.
