This is a great snack attack stop in Zion supermarket!

    Wondefully done french pastries. =)
I really enjoyed their chocolate crossiant - light, flaky and just a hint of sweet from the milk chocolate inside. I hemmed and haa'ed over their blueberry, apple and other fruit pastries and looked lovingly at their danishes, pre-packed macarons, and croquettes.

** their cakes are beautiful. Next time I will volunteer to bring the cake for any party down in Irvine!!

I found another pastry that I like! It's called "sweet rice pastry" and it's basically a croissant type/puff pastry crust filled with red bean and a mochi layer.

I would definitely say the donuts and mochi pastries are Paris Baguette's specialties. I don't find these items in other bakeries.

I like this location, even tho it's farther from me, because their iced coffee is more consistent. Just enough sweetness, with a hint of chocolate(?) and not bitter. The iced coffee from Garden Grove location tastes mediciny about 50% of the time. The other thing I like about the Irvine location is that it's in a good Korean market so I can go shopping after I get my caffeine fix.

The baked goods appear to be of the same variety as the Garden Grove store. I can't tell if anything's missing even though this store is smaller, altho' they may have less quantity of some items.

My family surprised me with a birthday cheesecake!

It was beautifully decorated with fruit and chocolate. A medium-light density cheesecake, not too sweet and absolutely delicious. One of the chocolate pieces even had cherry detailing behind it (see photo).

I look forward to visiting the shop to find out what other treats they have.

This review is for their cake only.  This bakery is located inside the back of Zion supermarket.  This is now our family's birthday cake bakery.  The cake is really light and moist.  I like how they use whipped cream instead of thick frosting, it makes the cake that much lighter.  If you don't really like super sweet cake w/frosting, then you would like their cake.  We have been happy with all the cakes purchased from this bakery.

Go early in the morning, by late afternoon, all the good cake selections are gone.  I've never had their pastries or bread, just cake.

It's not cheap though, but it's worth it.  One other plus is they provide you with candles and match and plastic pie knife so you don't have to go somewhere else to get it.

This place is not better than 85C and the pastries are not even the same style. Paris Baguette is more like Bon Epi than 85C. However, certain pastries were a little stale and all were over priced.

    eh, nothing special...

Paris Baguette serves as my 'quiet' or 'random' lunch spot.  Quiet because sometimes I just want to read a book or admire nature, so I'll stop here, grab a coffee, a sandwich (the chicken salad ones are the best- tasty chicken salad that is not too creamy and rolled in a flaky, turnover crust) and a pastry (blueberry cream cheese is my favorite- crispy pastry with sweet blueberry segregated from its cream cheese companion that makes for an interesting taste), and then find somewhere and read outside.  They also have shave ice if you're interested.

Sometimes its my random spot cause with a friend, we'll come here, get those same items, and then wander the aisles of Zion Market, just looking at Korean food; sometimes it noodles and kimchi, sometimes its coffee drinks.  I think just getting out of the office and walking around is what we need.  I guess its pretty much the same as browsing Target, just in a different way.

Anyhow, in the end, if you want a lunch that is quick, small, or sweet, and if you want a lunch that leaves you free to do something else, and you're not in the mood for Del Taco or Carl Jr's, check out the back of Zion Market of the Northwood plaza, and you could find a pleasant surprise.

3 1/2 stars. And extra 1/2 star for still carrying a TON of fresh pastries and goodies even though it was already late in the afternoon. If Japonaise Bakery was a human being, I would slap him/her with a glove and challenge him/her to a duel, just because they refuse to bake after the sun rises. It's egregious and completely blasphemous, I tell ya.

    Oh, back to Paris Baguette...
The smell of fried Asian-esque donuts hits you the moment you walk into the little bakery area. They thought I was dumb, probably, because I couldn't find the tongs/tray to get my pastries. It didn't dawn on me that it would be by the "entrance," if you could even call it that. I thought it would be adjacent to either bread displays.

The strawberry croissants here are bigger than Japonaise's, I think, so maybe it's worth the extra fifty cents. I actually tried the rice flour donut stick and it was pretty good. It's like a donut... but not. I like chewy rice flour things though (rice cake soup, rice cakes in general, etc.). The custard-y pastries are good too, being both light and fluffy.

They have a schedule of when fresh items appear and unlike Japonaise, it's through the day, even in the afternoons. They have a couple breakfast combos in the morning, but it really is just coffee and a type of pastry. They claim the coffee is organic. They also have cakes here and they look pretty enough.

I was annoyed that they packed our custard pastries (the little fruit/custard topped ones) in a bag instead of a box. Between that and the heat, the drive home was rather uneventful for the little guys.

They also accept credit cards here, and I think they might not enforce a minimum purchase because I didn't see a sign in that regard. That's a huge plus as Japonaise doesn't accept CC either.

Except couple of staples, their selections seem to change time to time.  This is a good thing for me as I like to try new pastries and enjoy another level of heaven.
Last one I tried was this big round mocha buttery croissant type pastry.  Even after a big meal, it was so good!!  Too bad it didn't last the car ride back home- sorry for the pastry crumbs honey.  Now it is my new favorite.
My old Paris Baguette favorite is this peanut-y streusel bread with sweet red bean paste inside- another of my comfort food.
I think PB is better quality ingredient than 85C.  85C fans please don't hate me, but I get sick whenever I eat 85C's pastries whereas PB does nothing but to send me to heaven time to time.  It is purely my opinion and speculation, please don't track me down and throw eggs at my car.

I've been to the one in Buena Park and wasn't really impressed by it. I've tried avoiding it as best as I could, but one morning I was at Zion market shopping and had this sudden craving for something sweet. I circled my cart around and around and just couldn't bring myself to buy anything.

A few days later, I was at Zion again and I found myself doing the same thing .... circling around the display hoping that something would jump out at me. Alas, nothing again.

Fast forward and finally, I'm yet again at Zion and this time I thought I'll just bite the bullet and give it a shot. I got one of those longish pastry things which glistens due to the glaze on it. I also got the hot dog pastry as well as the sweet potato one.

Ack! I don't know what it is, but the hot dog pastry was just gross gross gross. The hot dog was shriveled up (not like the yummy plump hot dog buns at Chinese bakeries) and the sweet potato one was really dense, soggy and limp. The only one which was even remotely edible was the long twisty looking pastry.

I threw the other two out and had a few bites of the one pastry and ended up throwing that out too. It was just too sweet for my palate.

Shoulda listened to my inner voice telling me to stay away but whaddya do when the laziness of driving over to Tustin sets in? I guess you end up eating less than tasty baked goods -- well, in my case, you waste your money because you threw them all away.

Like I've said before, Paris Baguette looks nice but tastes far from it.

One of my favorite bakery, as I have tried many of the pastries with fruit. Tip: You should go earlier as in the early afternoon, so that you can get the pastries right out of the oven. At the end of the day, forget it as all of the selection is gone.

Located in the back of the Zion Market, the selection is not bad.

I have bought several of the cakes for special occasions and have never been disappointed.

When I read that this bakery had strawberry croissants I was so on it. Also, that it happens to be less than a mile away didn't hurt. The Zion Market was one of those places I drove by practically every day and never really went inside of.

They offered a good selection of buns filled with different fruits and things, thick slices of bread, cakes, and of course, strawberry croissants. But because it was towards the end of the day the strawberry croissants that were leftover were not fresh and so we decided to not buy any. Instead,  my husband and I bought some mocha and cream cheese bars, strawberry pastries (round pastries with cream cheese in the middle and strawberries on top) and some french macaroons (which were pre-packaged, but still looked yummy).

The manager was nice enough to give us a small discount since it was late in the day and they were going to close soon.  We enjoyed all the pastries we bought and are looking forward to going back and trying the strawberry croissants.  Glad we found a place to buy our pastries so close to home!

This rating is purely for cake only.

With that said, their strawberry shortcake tasted really good. The sponge is soft & the whipped cream is very light. I'm not sure how much it cost, since my friend brought it over for a birthday gift.

However, I recently bought a Cappuccino Cake. That was a big disappointment. The cream and sponge didn't go well together + the sponge was a little bit dry.

To complete my strawberry croissant bakery trifecta, I wanted to review Paris Baguette.  One, this place is not French, but Korean.  Two, their strawberry croissants are very much like the ones found at Bon Epi, with whipped cream filling.  They sell a variety of sweet and savory pastries here.  The cakes seem to be more expensive than those found at J. Sweet Bakery.  I compared prices last time I was in the market to buy a cake.  When I am far away from my favorite strawberry croissant place, I'll be sure to remember that Paris Baguette is close by.  The bakery is located inside the Zion Market.

I've always been a huge fan of the Paris Baguette chain bakeries.
It's unfortunate that the one in Irvine is located inside Zion, where it doesn't get as many customers as it should. If it was located in the Diamond Jamboree plaza, it would have a much more diverse customer base other than just Koreans and clearly give 85 degrees some competition. In general, I prefer Paris Baguette chain bakeries over the 85C chain bakeries.
With that said, this Paris Baguette isn't as good as other Paris Baguette bakeries I have tried in the past. Nevertheless, it still serve pretty decent quality bread and pastries. My favorite bread would be the plain but delicious soboro bread. As for the pastries, the ones made with sweet potato are delicious.
I haven't tried their cakes yet but the cakes that I have tried at other Paris Baguette bakeries were pretty good. However, this location doesn't offer the diverse selection of cakes found at other Paris Baguette locations.

Paris Baguette has the BEST cakes, after King's Hawaiian.  Since we can't always drive to Torrance to get King's Hawaiian, we are happy to have PB nearby.  My favorite is the green tea cake, it is light, fluffy, not too sweet, and really delicious.  Be sure to pre-order, b/c their green tea cakes usually sell out by noon.  My 2nd favorite is blueberry chiffon cake which tastes like a super-moist blueberry muffin.  Can't go wrong with any cakes here, I have tried them all.  I also like the "serve yourself" pastries & sandwiches.  Only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is b/c King's Hawaiian beats them out in the cake category and Cream Pan beats them out in the fruit croissant category.

Visited this bakery today which is located inside Zion Market.  I had heard that they had pretty good pastries and I was craving a strawberry croissant from Japonaise Bakery but, didn't want to drive so far away.  Low and behold they have them!  The pastry is larger than the one at Japonaise which is a plus.  The strawberry slices are not quite as thin and appealing, but the custard is another story.  Very close in both flavor and consistency.  Granted I prefer Japonaise at $1.70 vs. $2.20 at Paris for the price and the quality but, it's nice to know that I can satisfy a craving a mile away.  They also carry an array of other flavors such as Almond, chocolate, apple, as well as gom bok bahng (peanut butter bread), croquettes, cheese panini, fruit tarts, and delicious looking cakes.

I love this Paris Baguette! It's a bit overpriced, but aren't all fancy Korean bakeries? Haha. I was a huge fan of Paris Baguette and Paris Croissant when I lived in Korea so seeing one close to home in the OC made me extremely happy. I used to go all the way to Cerritos for it, but it was painful on my wallet what with gas and the already pricey goods. The baked goods at Paris Baguette are awesome. They're not always as fresh as I'd like them to be, but that's my fault for going at such odd hours. But for the time, the bread is really good. I love the displays, the selection, and the fact that I can get my grocery shopping done at the same time. Their cakes are amazing as well~ I absolutely LOVE their green tea cake! YUM!
