i love this place. They are open til 10 EVERYNIGHT, which is fantastic when you realize that you have a sweet tooth late. They have a ton of options, are always coming up with new flavors to add to their classics and they even have a wide range of sugar free and non-fat options that are actually really good. So you can have a treat but not feel horrible about it. I like that their yogurts arent bitter either.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. -

Since I work right around the corner it's quite convenient to come to Paradise Yogurt for some frozen goodness every once in a while.
They have about 15 different self serve flavors, but most impressive is their selection of toppings. They just have everything you can think of as a topping even fruti pebbles!
They also serve frozen drinks called hurricanes. You can select one from their menu, or make your own frozen creation.
Their prices are definitely reasonable and frequently have 2 for 1 deals.
AND...they have a frequent buyer card which is nice. -

I purchased a chocolate chip cookie dough hurricane with nonfat chocolate mousse yogurt. My total came to $4.55, to me a little pricey for fro-yo considering I like $1 ice cream cones from Rite Aid.
But then I saw them make it. They are NOT SKIMPY with the cookie dough...it was piled in there. Lots of yogurt mounded into a large plastic cup. Sure enough every chocolate-y bite had chunks of yummy cookie dough. It took me four sittings to finish it. Not a bad deal after all.
I want another one now.Listed in: I Scream..You Scream...

The NUTTY MONKEY from Paradise Yogurt is quite possibly the most delicious frozen yogurt milkshake creation I have ever had anywhere. Peanut butter frozen yogurt, fresh sliced bananas and milk are all blended together to create one big party in your mouth!
Paradise has lots of tasty yogurts that rotate on a daily basis- although chocolate, peanut butter and vanilla are usually staples. My favorites include coconut and mint-both great alone or with the topping of your choice.
For those of you watching your weight or sugar intake, there are low carb, no sugar and non-fat flavors offered everyday along with their regular low fat options. In addition to yogurt, milkshakes and other sweet treats like cookies, they have healthy smoothies with "add-ins" like protein powder, bee pollen, etc. They used to serve soup daily as well, although I don't know if they still do.
Recently, they've added "tart tasting" yogurts to their daily yogurt rotation similar to places like Yogurt World here in SD. I haven't tried the tart flavors yet but I plan to very soon as I am sure they are just as delicious as the other yogurt flavors they offer.
Next time you are in the Mission Valley or College area, stop by Paradise Yogurt. Delicious yogurt, generous servings and affordable prices make this yogurt shop a real treat! -

San Diego, CA
All of a sudden, the sonic boom of frozen yogurt shoppes (note to reader: i spell it this way, because i am white and eat my frozen yogurt with a pinkie out.) has hit San Diego. BOOM! I turn my head and there is a new shoppe. I cough and another materializes. I turn my head and cough and yet another.
Frozen Yogurt follows suit with the rebirth and remixing of everything totally 80's dude. It's much like the replaying of all that shitty 80's music (Some goth, no-wave, and The Smiths being exceptions) and even shittier 80's fashion (no exceptions! not even for you lil' miss hipster with the gold lame gown and hot pink leggings. and no, i don't care that american apparel sold it to you. You're a MARK.). Anyhow, where was I... 80's, flock of seagulls, leggings,... Oh yes, Frozen Yogurt. The frozen yogurt trend is way 80's, but it has been remixed, remastered, and sold back to y'all mark ass marks at new super-NOW prices and flavors.
While all this may feel truthism, I can't help but to be me--Me being a Frozen Yogurt Mark, too. It just tastes so yummy and yummalicious and has yummiosity to the max and it makes me feel great inside; so strong and healthy and wealthy and white.
I was feeling famished one evening and a friend and I found ourselves in the SDSU area. I proposed we got a bite to eat and I didn't want to feel sluggish afterwards. The decision was a frozen yogurt place down the road. Paradise Yogurt II.
The place felt like a hippyish Smoothie King meets Starbucks. Dredfully repetitive raggae techno dub was playing (note: i have never been stoned enough and never hope to be to see the merits of this cess.). A big menu board read the usuals; smoothies, sundaes, some blended candy in yogurt things, and self-serve. Self-serve was the obvious choice since the girl running the register looked so glum it would only sadden me to see her shuffle about creating some piece that was uninspired.
There was a semi-cheerful girl letting us sample flavors in the back of the store. I am biased, but the tart plain topped with fruit tends to be my frozen yogurt weapon of choice.
Paradise Yogurt had perfect tart plain. It was lush, creamy, and tart in an almost creme fraishe sorta way. Upon tasting it a bolt shot from tongue to mind and the muse commeth. "Creme Fraishe und Berries? Das ist Wunderbar!" I lunged to the fruit fixings and went with Blackberries, Blueberries, and Red Raspberries.
With creation in hand I got it weighed by glum girl who mumbled the price at $4.50. I felt less ripped off than most frozen yogurt places and smiling I sat down with my friend who went with Mangoes and Red Raspberries on Vanilla Soy Yogurt.
Began shovelling the yummerz into my gape... and Houston, we have a problem. Frozen subpar fruit from the bag! Both, my friend and I had to gingerly eat the petrified pieces as our taste buds got freezer-burned. Remember that scene in The Christmas Story with Flick and the flagpole? Well, what I could only assume Paradise must have been thinking was the fruit was going to only be used for smoothies and in that capacity it would have been fine.
Anyhow, nothing like a low-grade topping to be a damn fine frozen yogurt buzzkill.
The other thing that wads my knickers about this place (as well as other frozen yogurt joints) is the containers and flatware used. They tend to present themselves as a good for you and good for the planet pseudo-hippy or urban-chic places and yet they insist on utilizing the cheapest styrofoam containers and plastic spoons of the unrecyclable ilk. I don't think I am asking for much, but it would only cost Paradise a cent or so more to get compostable or at least recylable containers and flatware. The prices charged are definitely enough to do this at no real cost, plus you can advertise in your stores that you are fighting the good fight and that would increase sales.
Hey, come on Frozen Yogurt Shoppes, I mean this ain't the 80's.
Hmmm. That gives me another idea. Perhaps, I should open my own Frozen Yogurt Shoppe up and name it "Everyday Is Like Sundaes"... -

Thank God, a yogurt shop that still embraces sweet rather than tart! Pinkberry and its ilk have their own appeal, but I'll take a chocolate/vanilla swirl over plain any day.
Excellent and wide selection that changes often (but they've always got that chocolate and vanilla standby). Not quite as incredibly mouth-watering as Yogurt Farms in Santa Rosa or the Bay Area's Yogurt Park, but pretty damn close. -

Hi my name is Kelly and I am addicted to Soy Fro Yo.
I happen to live near this place, and I also happen to have 3 roommates who are just as addicted to this creamy frozen delight.
Paradise yogurt is a sorry excuse for a yogurt place, but hey, like any true addict, I would get my fix from any random crack house, or shell gas station.
2 small yogurt with toppings, $8.40.
I'm sorry, I may have been born east of the 15, but shit, this ain't flipin Europe people, its just Mission Valley.
I am a proud native of La Mesa, home of the great Yogurt Express. Where you can put 10 toppings and 5 different flavors in one cup if you fancy, all self serve, they charge by weight. I could get the same order for around $4, plus they have a 25% off student discount.
Yogurt Express, I miss you. When will you expand further west so we can rekindle our love affair??
Paradise Yogurt, I thank you for helping me get my fix (the withdrawal hallucinations can get pretty bad).
However, stop charging me my left arm for a little cup of heaven.
What next, is Bush going to take over a failing government that has a plentiful natural resource of Wow Cow? Then we will have to pay like $80 a gallon for it.
Damn the yogurt man!!Listed in: How a Spanish girl keeps her…

Paradise yogurt is appropriately named.
I adore frozen yogurt, and I love it far more than regular ice cream. I think it might be because of the fun swirly shape, or perhaps because when you mix it around a lot, it melts more easily into a soup of deliciousness. I also like rainbow sprinkles. When I can have both rainbow sprinkles AND frozen yogurt, it's a happy happy day.
Paradise has what I love and so much more. There are many many flavors to choose from each day and even more topping choices. It's like a better-for-you Coldstone's without the shocking price tag.
I have to dock them one star, though, for their hours. In my book, having a frozen yogurt place that isn't open until midnight is nearly a crime. -

Question: How do you make 34 strangers in a tiny room jealous of you?
Stroll into class with some paradise yogurt. You'll get more envious looks than a ho ho at a diet convention.
Go with the cheesecake with granola. Don't pack it too tightly because they charge by weight, but it will run you at the most four bucks. I love me some fro yo! -

I have to admit, I have never been a big fan of frozen yogurt, as i am not a fan of soft serve ice cream, and I think it's the consistancy I don't like.. but I really do like the yogurt here!
I love that there are new flavors every day and that you can come up with a new combination every day!
They also cater to everyone, non-dairy, non-fat, sugar-free, low carb, etc - what ever you want, they have it!!!! -

Paradise yogurt is a wonderful spot for a frozen treat that isn't sickeningly sweet, like the nearby icecream shops. (Although I do believe there is always time for sickenly sweet) My favorites are the Sunrise and Berry Parfaits, with Strawberries and blueberries and strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries respectively. The yogurt is layered with the lovely fruit, and topped with crunchy granola. For a great berry-smoothie, try the appropriately named 'very berry', it's strawberry, blackberry, and raspberry, YUM.
Paradise Yogurt is a good treat during the summer heat, and for me it melts away the daily cubicle grind of my day-to-day life. There are a lot of cool drinks on the menu, and yogurt sundaes (try the brownie sundae). For those looking to limit their intake, they even have 6 oz minis. :) -

I think out of all the frozen yogurt shops in SD, Paradise Yogurt is my new favorite. I love their wide selection and the prices are waaay better than Golden Spoon. Did I mention that they hook it up fat??? I got a small (8oz) for $2.85 and got candy cane, death by chocolate, and green tea. omg- I was freezing my ass off, but I was in heaven!
Will definitely come back.
Don't forget to ask for a stamp card- buy 10, bet one free. Also there's a $5 minimum to use credit cards.Listed in: Frogen Yozurt

What I liked (loved) about Paradise Yogurt was that I ordered it, a yogurt professional doled it out, and I left.
Now Paradise is trying to jump the trend and be just like everyone else. I'm sure it was a savvy economic move, seeing as those other places charge almost 2x as much. But boo! It's basically the McCain-choosing-Palin of yogurt shops to me now.1 Previous Review:

I'm a fro-yo addict, love it love it love it.
I'm so excited about the resurgence in popularity of frozen yogurt due to chains like Pinberry and Red Mango. I love the tart flavor of these yogurts and the fresh fruit toppings, they rock my world. Unfortunately, these establishments aren't just a hop, skip, and a jump away from my house like Paradise Yogurt is. As the other reviews have noted, Paradise has good yogurt, all sorts of low-cal and low-fat options, and a variety of flavors. Some of their flavors are sooo good, but the problem is you go back the next day for another fix and find that your flavor is gone and all the other flavors sound so...unappetizing. The flavors are really hit or miss. And the toppings could use some help, the fruit isn't fresh.
Flavors I recommend are blackberry, amaretto, and plain tart.Listed in: My Neighborhood

Paradise Yogurt is the best yogurt in town, period. The flavor selection changes daily and the toppings rock my socks.
The tart yogurt selections (plain tart, peach tart, etc.) are nice-- when you want yogurt, but don't want something cloyingly sweet -- mix the tart plain with a regular berry for an amazing (but refreshing) treat.
Their buy one, get one coupons also mean that I go for yogurt with the BF and both of us come away smiling. Oh, and my lactose-intolerant friends do the "wow cow." Something for everyone ... and now there's one at SDSU, too! -

HI
I used to come here often because they carry Wow Cow and used to carry Skinnie Minnie. I have two complaints. First, management needs to reconsider their ordering/paying system. Specifically, one girl should take orders, while the other works the register (sorta like Subway). As is, you'll easily wait 15-25 minutes on line on any given night. Second, management should reconsider their hiring practices. Specifically, they might want to make pseudo-niceness a job requirement. Screw friendliness- I'd be happy with eye contact and something that resembles a smile.
The generally poor customer service is the exclusive reason for the 3 stars - that and because they got rid of Skinnie Minnie as of a few months ago, which was by far the highlight of their selection, considering one can get regular frozen yogurt at Golden Spoon or any number of other places. -
Review from Venus L.

Well, this place is okay. Nothing too fancy or anything... just a nice place to remedy your frozen yogurt fix when you're on the SDSU campus.
There's a small selection of frozen yogurt (which I think changes every once in a while) with a good variety of toppings... just enough to tide me over. The staff could use a little bit more pep, though. Every time I go there, the same guy pops out from the back, asks us if we've been there before and then we don't see him until we pay.
Not the best yogurt place, but it's there whenever I'm on campus and have the need for something sweet (and healthy). -

2nd best place in town. Kinda cramped and disorganized but good yogurt. Their selection is limited to whatever they feel like making. Kinda like Yogurt Mill in East County.
The best yogurt place hands down is Yogotango downtown in the gaslamp (Corner of 4th st. and G st.) More selection, roomier, free wifi, and its healthier too, at only 100 calories! -
Review from Leslie B.
I am not a part of the cult "Fro-yo" following. I do not get excited about frozen yogurt, but sometimes I need that guilt-free, cold, sweet treat and this one has got it without hassles and too many decisions to make. I wanted to give five stars, but I took one off for long lines and the fact that you cannot see the toppings or grab napkins when people are waiting in front of you.
The main reason I go to Paradise Yogurt is that it is a 2 min. drive from my home, and Wow-Cow! A small Wow-Cow swirl is my thing. It is fat-free and really low cal. Last night was Amond Ameretto/Chocolate Decadence.
There was a time in my life when I wanted to drop a few pounds and I did it, without skipping dessert. -

This place has decent frozen yogurt, but it did not live up to all the rave reviews it got. I only went here because of the rave reviews Yelper gave. I don't like Paradise as much as I like Rocky's. I always get this explosion of flavor in my mouth whenever I eat frozen yogurt from Rocky's, Paradise didn't give me the same feeling. Plus, you get like half as much as Rocky's for the same price.
I got the vanilla creme & chocolate mint. The flavor of the vanilla creme was better than the chocolate mint. The chocolate mint had a powdery flavor to it. My frozen yogurt was melting by the time I got it. The consistency wasn't as rich & creamy as Rocky's. The place didn't appear to be that clean. I won't be returning. I'll travel a little farther for Rocky's.
I expected there to be more Wow Cow & Skinny Mini flavors since Yelpers talk about it, but I was disappointed to find only one Wow Cow flavor.
The 3 stars is for the fact that they do serve sweet frozen yogurt, have decent frozen yogurt, have at least 1 Wow Cow flavor, and all the flavors appear to be non-fat. -

Man, does this place hit the spot or what?! Any place you can go to get a sweet tasty treat that's almost equally as good for you, I'm down! They have every flavor imaginable (although not at the same time) and some pretty unimaginable flavors.
The employees are happy, polite and very helpful. An excellent choice if you have a sweet tooth craving. -

A yogurt shop conveniently located close to SDSU. It's a lifesaver especially if I have cravings for frozen yogurt when I'm on campus.
There aren't as many flavors as other yogurt shops and the toppings could be more organized, but it's enough to satisfy my craving every now and then.Listed in: Froyo-Yofro

Best smoothies in town. I usually get a power smoothie with real fruit and protein powder. I don't really like to eat vegies and can't get good pineapple and mangoes in San Diego. I used to go to the usual chain smoothie places but have lately been fed up with their chalky taste. One day I came upon Paradise Yogurt and haven't turned back.
Delicious and Nutritious. -

This is my backup yogurt place. I tend to drift towards the ones that offer multiple options of flavors and lots of toppings and healthy-ness. This is one of those places, however it is not self-serve (bummer) and they are on the pricier end.
That being send, it's close to home and does the job well. I definetly have replaced many a meal with a huge swirl of fro-yo. Reiterating the face that there is a $5 minimum for credit cards - I've had to buy random drinks and granola bars before to purchase the goods. That's how dedicated I am. -

This is a great yogurt place. Most of the flavors are fat free or low fat except for a couple. I decided to try the angel food cake flavor and heaped it with plenty of toppings. Typical good looking college crowd here. My friend and I sat outside and wished we were a good 15-20 years younger again. The price was slightly higher than I would have liked but it was okay.
With several restaurants close by and The Pita Pit next door I would think that this place keeps quite busy on weekend nights as a dessert stop after dinner. -

MMMMMmmmmmMMMM goood. hurricanes are bomb if you are feeling like you need a huge amount of fro-yo.....this place is awesome because they have like 13 flavors at all time which keeps me happy. only sad thing is they dont have fresh fruit but maybe they will after reading this. Ummm..they have weird chocolate bars you can buy too. they have wow cow, skinny cow, and that type of non fat low cal fro-yo.
yayyyyyy! I want to go now -

I love getting the berry flavors with gummy bears here!
Only downside is that a lot of the other flavors aren't very good. I prefer Golden Spoon because EVERYTHING there is amazing. However, this place is just so close and the berry flavors are just as yummy! :o) -

I had been living in Mission Valley for about 8 or 9 months, when one day, my boyfriend and I were driving by Paradise Yogurt on our way to the pet store, and he asked me if I had been to Paradise Yogurt before. Almost surprisingly, I had to say that "no" I hadn't, even though I am the kind of girl who can't get enough ice cream, especially the "healthy" fro-yo kind! So we decided to check it out. One foot inside of the place feels like a tropical rainforest exploded, well with the palm tree and plastic chair decor, it reminded me of some cheap-o Orlando theme park of sorts. Anyways, we waited in line for a couple of minutes, and ended up ordering Peanut Butter frozen yogurt with crushed Reese's peanut butter cups topping, and ohhhhhhhhhh my goodness... that's how the obsession began.
Ever since, we have had to limit our trips there to once every other day. Always trying new sweet treats (including their wide selection of low calorie, low fat chocolates, cookies, and everything you always thought you couldn't eat while on a diet), I have yet to be disappointed. And I can assure you, that you won't be disappointed either.
Pros:
-Excellent selection of frozen yogurt and toppings
-Staff is really friendly and will make whatever concoction you can think of
-Parking is easy (have to mention parking in San Diego...)
-Free samples
-Club card (buy 10 get 1 free)
-Indoor and outdoor seating
Cons:
-Don't expect to always be able to order the same thing - their 10 or so daily flavors change from day to day
-Don't go too late at night - they might run out of their most popular flavors
Overall - I can't give this anything less than 5 stars! -

Paradise yogurt in Mission Valley has the best tart (plain) yogurt I've ever tasted. Their yogurt is the perfect texture and consistency. I used to like the SDSU location but they changed it to pay by weight and I always get too much so I stick with Mission Valley now and always get a mini with tart and sometimes will add another flavor. It's just enough for a dessert when I'm too full or a refreshing snack on a beautiful sunny San Diego day. They have a plethora of other options, it's too much for me to read (so I stick with something simple and delicious) but great news for those who love variety

I have so many memories of PY. I would cruise down from a long day at Parker (my high school) and would eat the largest cup of FroYo with Mini M&Ms before crew practice. This is long before my days of lactose intolerance...a time when gorging myself before a workout was ok and I would eat whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted it. [tear] those were good times.

Living in Los Angeles is kind of like living in a yogurt ghetto... fro yo is everywhere. I commute to San Diego once a month and found Paradise Yogurt which is now on my 'must visit' list. Unlike most places, their yogurt is always has a perfect creamy consistency and tastes more fattening (ie: yummy) than it really is. I didn't know why this was until I brought it up on my last visit. They told me it's because they don't skimp on their mixes like some places do and they keep their machines super clean. It's scary to think what other places might not be doing with their machines. They also told me they expanded to another store near SDSU. I hope they open one up near me in LA! Anyway...it's my favorite place and worth the drive.

Get a blueberry pie hurricane. every time. i can't even see straight when i look at the menu, my head starts tweaking over to the hurricane menu, and the words "blue + berry" pop out of the back of my throat. recently, on our normal Monday jaunt over there, my daughter smashed her finger in the car door when we were going in to the shop. Bloody murderous screams ensued. All patrons at all businesses around were wanting to know who was getting sawed in half by an old spoon. We finally made it into the store, and she was kind of done crying, when the owner came out to give her a band aid and a free cone with sprinkles! Lifesaver. On top of all this, the yogurt selection is great, and the girls are very friendly. Good smoothies. I gotta go get a Hurricane now.

I was impressed by this place. I can't believe I haven't been here before when I've lived in Mission Valley for 7 months! My friend visiting me from out of town actually took me here, he used to frequent this place when he lived down in San Diego. Funny story actually, our mutual 300 lb SD state linebacker friend used to hook up with some chick that worked there... so when ever hunger would strike he would pay her a visit to get "dinner". Now a place that can turn frozen yogurt into dinner for that big of a guy has got to really be something! They have a ton of toppings and it has that mom and pop feeling . They switch up the yogurt flavors often to keep things interesting. I feel like some damn fro yo now

Absolutely divine, with options for everyone. There's the standard non-fat (I THINK it's Dannon YoCream), but there's also the insanely delicious and guilt-free Wow Cows and Skinny Minis for the calorie-conscious. The flavors rotate, except of course the staples like Peanut Butter, Vanilla, Chocolate, and some form of strawberry. They started providing tart flavors too, after somebody realized that Pinkberry-esque fro-yo is taking over the world.
Prices are decent, especially if you get your hands on one of those buy-1-get-1-free coupons. :) -

This stuff tastes more like ice cream.. and it comes out with the same consistency as soft serve.. If you want real yogurt hit up Red Mango at the Mission Valley Mall next to Frederick's. I'm not really into the pay-by-ounce creameries.. I prefer quality over quantity.. No amount of toppings could satisfy this need.

I have not heard of Paradise Yogurt until last Friday ! Usually it's about Yogurtworld and Yogurtland but I can definitely say that Paradise Yogurt is way better than Yogurtland. They have smoothies, ice cream, many other frozen treats as well. This place isn't that expensive at all ! I loved the Hawaiian Punch flavored one, it's not too sweet and it's just perfect. The plain tart one was good as well and they have a lot of topping choices to choose from. They keep their fruits frozen as well. I highly recommend this place, especially on a hot afternoon.

I love this place. Don't let the random Hawaiian decor and merchandise fool you. It doesn't matter if it's raining out, if I want some Wow-Cow or Skinny-Minnie, I'm getting it here. I just wish it would be open later because I seem to always fancy it at 9:01pm. Just be sure to ask for samples first because sometimes, it may be LC but it tastes like it too. PB Wow-Cow is one of the best! Grasshopper is not.
