Paradise was not my first choice.  Avia is cuter, other places are cheaper, it just didn't call to me.  Then I went there.  They have some crazy sanitation going on so you don't have to be afraid to get a pedi.  These girls must be serious germiphobes, but that's fine with me.  I've gotten two full sets of gel pink and whites here and gotten them filled and the results were always compliment-worthy.  It doesn't have that whole spa-ish thing going on, they don't wrap you in algae or anything, but your fingers and toes will look good, you'll get in and out fast, and you won't catch some awful fungus.
And to address the signonsandiego link, it's very helpful, and I would note that their violations were for 2005 before they got the super-duper sanitizer thingys for pedicures.
And bring cash for a tip because you can't put it on a credit card and you don't want to be a cheapskate.

Went there based on other Yelpers. Not the best but not the worst.

I had the lady that does everything with gloves - does your nails, cleans the basin, rubs in lotion (no way would I call that a massage!) and then paints your nails - all in the very same gloves. Everyone keeps saying how clean they are - how clean is that???

My nails (toes) were ok - they didn't last as long as they have from other salons. They/she did try to up sell all the freaking time and talked to her friend and not me the whole time. Not really rude but def not friendly.

Can't say that I will be going back anytime soon.

my mom wanted to treat me to a pedicure, and since this one is really close to home, she made us an appointment. apparently appointments have little value to this place. we waited forever.

after finally being sat in the spa chairs, i put my feet in the tub and was scalded. the water was waaaaay too hot. i looked at my mom, and she said she was burned too. wtf? we decided to get one that involved a mask (to soothe our burns) and a more in depth massage. the massage was nothing special. pretty much identical as what you would get with the standard pedi... the upselling here is ridiculous. and the women speak is such a low voice that its hard to hear what they're saying at all. then of course there is the accent.... the "design" i wanted on my toes (black polish with french tips. how difficult is that?) ended up costing me $10. wtf is that?

between the below average massage for an extra cost. the basic design for an extra cost. being burned by overheated water. and paying an amount i would only pay if i was having celine dion give me a pedi, i'd say its safe to say i won't be coming here again...

oh yeah, and the polish lasted less than a week. awesome.

Well, I've only been to this place once.  As far as service, she did a terrific job. But, what I really didn't like about this place was that the girls were not friendly AT ALL! The girl that did my mani/pedi did not talk to me except to ask, "You want flower?" while doing my pedicure. As a matter of fact, she even avoided eye contact.  I can understand if she doesn't speak any English, but a smile would be nice!

I felt like the girls were talking to each other about their customers.  They would talk to each other in their language (Vietnamese) in mean tone.  Perhaps that's just they way they talk and not talking about anybody in particular.

Price is reasonable and I guess as long as they make my nails look pretty and I have something to read or listen to while my nails are getting done, I'd come back.

This is the only place I'll go for a mani/pedi now.  The salon is very clean and the only one I have seen with the bio-fresh disinfecting system for their spa chairs.  All of the different employees who have worked on me have been very friendly and they take their time with you.  I do recommend spending the extra $6 for the callous remover on your feet, totally worth it!  They do try to upsell you with different pedi add-ons (flower on your toe?  Euro pedicure? paraffin wax?) I've tried them all, but the callous remover is the only must-get on my list.  I just say no to the other stuff and they don't try to pressure you after that.

I never make an appointment in advance, but they have always been able to fit me in as a walk-in pretty quick.

I've been here a few times, to get manicures and pedicures. It seems to be hit and miss. I have had a few ladies who did a wonderful job on my pedicure, and other times, while not horrible, they weren't the best. The price is a little high, but like that there are massaging chairs and a lot of sanitation precautions.

My friend and I really wanted to get spa pedicures together. Walking into both the overly fancy Avia Day Spa & Salon and the please-please-buy-our-makeup Face Factory, they were both unable to give either of us an appointment for the next couple days. The woman who does nails/pedicures at Face Factory wasn't even in that day and they didn't "know when she'll be back." The receptionist suggested that we try Paradise Nails & Spa across the parking lot. So we did.

We were attended to in a very professional and friendly manner immediately upon walking into the shop. They asked us what service we'd like, had us sign in, and then had us select our nail colors. We did so and were seated next to each other and we were able to not only enjoy a pleasant conversation with each other, but also with the awesome ladies who were tending to our footsies!

The callous removal is well-worth the added $6 charge. My feet have NEVER felt so smooth or soft! They did the best job with painting my toenails that I've ever had. The foot and leg massage was very relaxing, too.

I didn't really expect much from Paradise, since they're not in main part of the mall. I just figured they'd be like all the stripmall type of nail shops that are kinda trashy and where they do a subpar job. Luckily, I was VERY surprised that Paradise Nails & Spa are the exact opposite. For all the services included in a spa pedicure at Paradise, you would pay double what Paradise charges anywhere else....  and Paradise did a better job than I've ever had at the hoitey-toitey spas!

The price is amazingly inexpensive for the magnificent service and quality that you get. I will ABSOLUTELY be going back... they totally made a regular customer of me!

I was specifically told that I must give this place 5 stars.  I didn't get the manicure or pedicure but I will say that Lindsay was so relaxed from the foot, leg, and arm massage she could barely walk afterwards -- and she's a masseuse!  I counted 9 spa chairs all full and all attached to some sort of "Bio-Fresh" system which apparently prevents you from getting funk foot during your pedicure.  I was surprised to see quite a few East County Bros in the spa chairs blissing out on their foot rubs while the chatter of the Vietnamese "nail techs" was almost deafening.  Oh, and if you're into huffing fumes, this is a good place to come for a freebie!

They were very accomodating to us changing our appointment and very thorough in what they did.  Linz tells me that it's not that common for a place to do 3 coats on a manicure but Paradise did.  And they don't break the bank.  $32 for both treatments and they took a good hour and a half.  Plenty of time for me to catch a good buzz at Trophy's while I waited.  Yay!  Everybody's happy!

This place was decent.  I went on a weekday in the early afternoon.  The wait wasn't long.  The girl who did my pedicure was nice.  She even gave me an old Life & Style to read.  Woohoo!  She gave me the lamest foot/leg message as she was talking to her co-workers.  She didn't try to sell me anything, which I appreciated.  I was thinking that if she offered the callous thing, I would have said yes.  But she didn't.  My toes turned out nice.  See the pic!  Ha ha.  I think it cost 25$ for the pedicure.  The don't accept tips on credit card.  Luckily, I had some cash.

This place is nice looking inside, and very clean! The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because the service is extremely unpredictable. Sometimes I get someone that is soo nice, but isn't good at doing nails, or someone who is rude AND bad at nails, and once in a while I get someone who is all-around awesome!
For the quality of the nails, it's pretty expensive. If you're going in for a simple manicure, don't expect friendly service.

My friend and I came in here and she got a mani, I got a mani/pedi.  I think I got screwed over with the girl who did my nails.  I mean she did good on the nails but man she used her gloves on me and on everything!  While my toes were trying to dry, she was cleaning the foot tub right under me with the same gloves mind you and after that, she applied lotion to my feet and legs and started massaging them.  Who massages with gloves??!?  My friend tried to give her the benefit of the doubt and say she had prolly got an infection.  But she can spare me one too by changing out her gloves and not massage my feet with gloves.  Then the manicure, same gloves and all up in my hands with the lotion again! EWWWWW!  My friend lucked out and had a lady who used her hands and not gloves.

This was my second Mani/Pedi ever and my first visit here. It was very clean, everyone was friendly. My mani/pedicurist was very sweet and smiled all the time. They had a menu to choose what type of Pedi we wanted. I took the #1 which included the parrifin and callous treatment. The only upsale she did was for an eyebrow wax which I needed. She was gentle and did a great job.

The massage chair was wonderful and my arm and leg massage was very nice.

This will become a regular spot for me.

I started going here about six months ago and right after, my former regular nail salon (who shall remain nameless) gave my best friend the worst nail bed infection of her life, requiring medical attention and a tetanus shot.  OUCH!  So glad I made the switch before that happened to me!!  As some other reviewers have mentioned, there are these bags of cleaning fluid attached to each of the spa chairs and they immediately clean the foot bath right after you're done.  What a great concept!!!  I've also seen them cleaning their tools afterwards as well.  While this should be a common practice in nail salons, I can honestly tell you it's not.  Frightening, I know!!!!

Everyone who works here is kind and friendly.  I've had a couple of different ladies work on me and they have all done a great job.  I have also used the waxing services and I must say, it's just as good as some of the more expensive salons I've frequented for a lot less.  I sent my mother here this week and she said it was the best mani/pedi she's ever had.  Wow, now I can't wait to go myself!!

This is my one and only nail salon I go to to get great looking pink & whites. I also get my eyebrows waxed here too. I've been coming here for quite awhile now and I ALWAYS get compliments on my nails. The place is very clean and everyone who works here is really nice. My nail girl is Paulina. She's Amazing and I highly recommend her to everyone! She is sooo sweet, funny and actually remembers all of her customers, their names and what you talked about the last time you were in. She's talkative, friendly and always makes me feel welcome there. I've never once had to wonder if she was talkin crap behind my back in vietnamese. (As in other nail shops sometimes you wonder....) Paulina does a great job every single time on manis/pedis, waxing etc. There were a few times I've had to see other girls when Paulina wasnt available and each time the other girls did a fantastic job as well!! Everyone that works here listens to what you want, and how you like your nails and gets it perfect! I've never once had a complaint with this place :)

I absolutely ADORE this salon. First, the decor is  gorgeous. From the tile to the stations, all the way to the bathroom, everything is sparking! I've gotten 3 services done here- waxing, manicure and pedicure and every single experience has been wonderful.

The receptionist is very friendly and courteous and they are always able to book me for an appointment, same day. When I say appointment, I don't mean, come in and wait around for a while all while being ignored and forgotten, I mean- come in, welcomed by the friendly staff, sign in, try to sit down and look through my favorite magazine but can't, because I'm already up! Fantastic! Luckily, I can bring the magazine along with me while I'm getting a manicure or pedicure. But the most important thing to me is the cleanliness of the salon. They use a special cleaning system, and clean all the stations by hand after closing. I love this place when I'm in San Diego and I highly recommend it to others.

P.S! They have another location (read my other review), and I love that one too. I am always disappointed when the 2nd or 3rd location of a place sucks compared to the first/original. But, not here.

3 Cheers for awesome nails!

After I moved from LA back to SD I dreaded having to find a new nail place. It took me a year to find Paradise Nails. I only give this place 5 stars because I love Julie...she is AMAZING! Even my picky, hard to please mom loves her!

got a manicure here, wasn't too expensive, but more than i would spend on a regular basis.  my friend and i clearly went in together and we were seated across the place from each other.  after a quick file (no shaping) and trimming my cuticles, she painted my nails and i was pretty much done.  i felt like i was wasting her time, she wanted me out of there.  kept talking to the other people around her, only addressing me three times (some question i didn't actually understand, asking me to pay, and telling me to leave).  when she was done, she said "ok, done," got up, and told me watch out for my still drying nails as she was walking away.  i ended up going over to my friend and sitting next to her to use the fan to dry my nails off.

i would give this place another shot to see how they deal with pedicures.  i gave this place 4 stars because i didn't feel like she was trying to torture me with the nail file.  she was light handed and non-abrasive.  i just wasn't happy with how she was so uninterested in being there, but it could have been that we went in at 6pm (they close at 7).

I definitely have to say that Theresa is a great manicurist.  She is thorough and easy to talk to.  My acrylics always last and look great.  The place is super clean, but I would suggest making an appointment because they are usually busy on weekends and in the afternoons.  They are a little pricey but consistently good.

i have been going to this nail salon for a while now.i have to admit i cheat from time to time because it is just a little bit out of the way for me but if i can spear the time and can sell my blood for gas money i would go here alllllllll the time. anywhoo my favorite person is Vivian.  She is sooo sweet and friendly and is really good at what she does. she must be one of the sweetest ladies i have ever met .she is never in a rush where you feel like you are paying to bother her.  I am really picky about acrylics being to wide or to thick or that lines you get when you get a fill because of the previous set-i think you know what i mean ladies, but she seriously did a great job and i have no complants, Originally when i went today i was thinking about getting  the already airbrushed tips and just to have her do the acrylic overlay but there selection is pretty cheezy i must admit. they had some that had flower designs and lame name brand logo designs like gucci and louie-a little too ghetto fabulous for my taste.i opted to pick one of their many different color glitter powders for french tips instead. they had the most i have ever seen. two little display thingys full.  i picked this one kind of glitter that looks really thick-kind of like a mosaic picture when its done. i can tell that because of the texture it was really difficult to work with vivian knocked it out with a great conversation the whole time. the fill and having to fix one broken nail was 36.00. yes it is a tad expensive but i love my nails and it is really high quailty powders that they use that one lift a week later. i also noticed that she pulled out brand new filers and buffers .
i tipped her large because i seriously know it was alot of hard work.

i have had pedicures here also. it is true what all the other yelpers said about feeling at ease knowing that they spa pedicure stations have that cleaning system. but the peds are a little bit pricey. i think their basic starts at 27.00 and the callus treatment 6.00, french tip 3.00 to 4.00 and i like to put gel instead of a top coat because it lasts alot longer in my sneakers and that is 5.00. so you can imagine it can add up, but.........................................piece of mind that you wont get some kind of foot fungus is worth it to me.
