This is my kind of place, for a sandwich, hamburger, or ice cream. The owners (Frank and Sonny) and staff are friendly. Lunch is less expensive than the upscale places, and the only other alternatives (Shark's Deli and the Boardwalk) are about the same price with lousy seating.
By the same token, be forewarned this is a funky family place, with no table service, no espresso machine, and no view. But you can buy your food to go, and there are lots of benches on the bay just a block away. The weekend bicyclists and tourists seem to prefer Cafe Acri, so there's usually a shorter line at Paradise unless you're unlucky enough to arrive right after a large group of local teenagers. (If there's a line for ice cream, there's usually someone else who will take your food order if you stand by the cash register.)
To be more objective about prices, here's the cost of a chicken sandwich in Tiburon as of September 2009:

I realize this is not an apples-to-apples comparison, and you get table service with the last four. I have other favorites in Tiburon, I will write reviews for them...
I ordered the soup of the day Seafood Chowder thinking they could quickly scoop in bowl and give to me, but after 20 minutes and no soup I wondered if they had to kill the fish to make the soup so I substituted it for some gelato.
I think they were under-staffed and this was Labor Day weekend/parade crowd, but man I just wanted a bowl of soup. I'd recommend this place as a gelato shop but not for the food, unless this was just an exceptionally bad day for them.
after biking over the bridge to tiburon and in need of some fuel i headed to Paradise Cafe. my boyfriend and i were the only customers there who weren't regulars. everybody else who came and went seemed to know the owner or the staff there. you know it's a great spot when they've got tons of regulars.
the chicken ceasar salad is huge, tasty and cheap. i know it's hard to believe that people are capable of screwing up a ceasar salad but i've had many "meh" ones. the arnold palmer freeze is also a must.
I will freely admit the first time I ate here was because I am a friend of Frank, the owner. The reason I keep coming back is the food. I have yet to be disappointed with anything on the menu, and that is saying something as there are quite a few items. For salads, I heartily recommend the pesto pasta salad. If you are looking for something a bit more filling, then I say go with the pulled-pork sando which is very well done. Again, you can't go wrong with just about anything Frank and his staff make. Also, it is nice to have a warm and sincere place in Tiburon which generally caters more to appearance than to substance.
For the two last weeks I have been having the most intense craving for a hamburger. It started when my friends and I went to flippers and I foolishly decided not to get a burger ... but it was the night of the Yelp holiday party and I didnt want to soil my getup! I am a HUGE fan of immediate gratification, so two weeks is a loooong time for me to go without satisfying a craving of any kind.
My bloodlust reached its pinacle today at lunchtime. After witnessing lines out the door at In-N-Out, I decided to head into downtown Tiburon for some lunch. My meal was a little pricier than I expected, but no matter, because I enjoyed every bite of it.
I ordered a quarter pounder with cheddar and a side of curly fries. The burger was fan-freakin-tastic and just what I'd been wanting. I stuffed that thing in my face like it was the last hamburger on the planet. I totally scarfed the curly fries too, but they were okay; a little lacking in flavor for curly fries, but still delicious.
AND, on top of that, the whole meal was trans-fat free - thanks Tiburon! Soooo I'm pretty convinced that this was a healthy lunch, right?
Excellent service! The ice cream scooper dude was very friendly and chill. He let me try all the ice cream and gelato flavors I wanted .. yes because I can't make up my mind when it comes to oh soo good but fattening concoctions I scarf down!
Got a huge waffle cone and 3 scoops of passionfruit pomegranite (very tropical) and pralines and cream for myself .. and off to the beach we went for a cute romantic walk. The walk wouldn't have been as great without the ice cream!!
For all the work of riding over to Tiburon from SF this is a nice place to stop for filling an empty belly.
The selection is limited but the 1/2 lb bacon cheese and curly fries really hit the spot and served to recongeal the fat in my arteries. Yum!! The rest of the gang was healthier with light salads and tuna fish.
Minus a star for being so darn expensive... even the .25$ lemonade stand was .75$!!
PARADISE gets 5 stars for friendly service!
It's run by some REALLY NICE GUYS who make you feel like it is truly important that you are there.
It is mostly fast food in a very casual laid-back atmosphere. Tables inside and out. Windows open on warm sunny afternoons. The food is very good - - although like most everything else in Marin, a little overpriced. But hey, this is is literally PARADISE, Paradise Hamburgers & Ice Cream . . . worth the extra $$ just to be here.
I LOVE me some Frank's place. Good people, good food. My kids couldn't live without the hot dogs there! There's another one on Blackfield Drive but the Tiburon Blvd. one is the best b/c you can get your dog, burger or ice cream, take it to the water and enjoy the view.
The Fiorello orange chocolate chip gelato is local and it's absolutely amazing!
So I am an extended child of Frank and Sonny, the owners of this absolute staple in Marin. I have watched my art on the wall as a five year old, and seen those that I babysit spill delicious cloverfield ice cream on the new checkered floors. In recent years they have gotten a bit fancy, but regardless, they have the best ice cream and chicken strips in the entire universe!!!
This is the perfect place to stroll into for some dessert after a laid back lunch... Located centrally, you can come here, order your ice cream and enjoy it on the benches outside. Which is exactly what we did, following a not-necessarily-laid-back-but-enjoyable-none-the-l ess lunch at Sam's. The ice cream isn't anything to rave about. It's a simple little cafe that happens to be convenient for what you'd look for on a warm day in Tiburon.
The guy behind the counter stayed open five minutes later to serve my friend and me some huge ice cream cones. That's service! Thanks, ice cream guy!
I eat the half-order Southwestern Chicken Salad EVERY DAY for lunch! After tax it comes to $5.33 and is worth EVERY PENNY! The half salad is normally more than I can handle for lunch anyways. Chef Kirk is the best! Creates everything from scratch (as everyone should). Creative and tasty specials from Coq au Vin to House-made Mole Enchiladas. Super friendly service. I wish my Root Beer Freeze would never end. I can't say anything negative about this place. Totally chill - perfect place for the weekday lunch or stop in after the Paradise Loop bike ride (just past Cafe Acri on Tib Blvd. - you can't miss it). They don't use any trans-fats either. Some things are a bit pricier than you'd expect - but it's worth it. The flavors are GREAT! At least during the week when Kirk is there. Can't vouch for anyone else. Like I said - you'll find me there daily...
