I have to state in all honesty, I do not gamble, and so my 2 stars may not be fair because I'm just not into it. We walked around the Par-A-Dice because we were staying at the nearby Hampton. I thought we could just hang out and get a drink, watch people lose their money.

No such luck. There is no nice bar. There are places to buy a drink, but they aren't cheap, and they do nothing to encourage you to hang out. There are really only places to sit at the machines.

We got the sense after awhile that security was watching us, because we weren't gambling, and I suppose that makes us suspicious to them. We got increasingly uncomfortable, and left.

I felt saddest for the slot players. Never have I seen more hopeless, tired, sad looking people all in one place in my life.

A pathetic place full of pathetic people gambling away money they don't have.  There is no atmosphere or ambiance or kitsch appeal or ornateness like you will find at Vegas casinos.  Just a utilitarian cinderblock designed to separate people from their money (or worse yet, money they got off their credit cards).
