I visited this shop to make a return the week before Christmas. Though I was waiting for assistance, the person at the register was tallying something and asked me to wait a moment. Not being in a rush, I agreed pleasantly. She then asked another person on staff there to help the waiting customer (me). When that person opened another register and asked for the next customer, the woman behind me gently shoved her way around me to be in front of him. I gazed in surprise and amazement that people really do get selfish in this season of giving, but realized that I really was in no hurry so "whatever". The initial staff member who was tallying looked up to see this transpire then gave me a quizzical look to which I reminded her I am in no hurry. She immediately set down her tallying and took care of my return with a smile.
Four stars (not five) because the store is a little cramped for space and the selection is not as wide as at the Stanford Papyrus store.
Papyrus is one of the best card stores out there. VERY unique hand crafted cards. Think Maido with a touch of normalcy (Hallmark) instead of being too strange or having weird Asian animals ... did that make sense?
Everything is pretty and nostalgic or fresh..makes you think .. Wow if only I thought of that! So cute and simple.
You can also order customized wedding invitations, etc because they have a specialist who helps you with all that.
Most of us don't even bother putting pen to paper anymore these days. However, for the few who still love sending a beautifully crafted card or write letters on specialty stationary, then Papyrus has the ideal selection for you. The range is extensive from invitations to note cards, letter writing kits, stickers, wrapping paper and more. They even have a personalized service where you can order wedding, birthday, baby shower etc invitations the way you want them. More than what I want to pay usually for paper, but when they have a sale, grab everything in sight! Every year, I purchase about $200 worth of stuff for $50 (their sales are up to 75% off!).
I happen to love browsing Papyrus for their great collection of journals and the strange collection of knick knacks (little books, writing books, funny erasers) near the counter. I own every travel journal they carry: http://ode.reinyday.co... If you're looking for a special card, you'll love it here.
