I love Pappadeux and have eaten at almost all of the restaurants in the chain.  This one wasn't up to snuff, but it is still better than 90% of al other restaurants.  Service on July 4th evening was very slow, and some of my food was not hot, at it usually is.  I think they were understaffed that night, and the place was pretty empty, so I give it a pass.

But as I said, even with the slower service and the less than hot food, this place is still better than almost any other restaurant.

You won't go wrong eating here, even though it is expensive.

I've had lunch and dinner here and recommend stopping in for lunch or maybe happy hour on a nice and sunny day.  You can enjoy your meal and drinks with views of the rockies outside in the patio.

I've always had great service here and the food is very good, but I think a little too much $$$ for what you get.

Last Sunday, me hubby and I tried Pappadeaux's brunch buffet in Westminster.  Oh my goodness!  What a deal and the food was superb.  We are big fans of this restaurant but had not tried the Sunday brunch fare yet.  Usually we sit at the bar and eat a bunch of oysters because they are so fresh and so cheap, but this was amazing.

Here is what you can expect, mostly Cajun themed seafood such as; Etouffee, Gumbo, catfish, craw fish, breaded catfish, and traditional breakfast fare like...waffles, an omelet station, hand-carved ham and rib-eye steak, muffins, jambalaya and a ton of shrimp cocktail.  All for $16.95!  Now you just tell me where on earth are you going to get that in this economy?  Get there early though because there was a lot of folks when we went and as the word gets out, there will be a more people.

I guess this review is far from surprising considering the plethora of bad reviews on this place. This was the second time I went. The first trip may have gotten 2 or 3 stars but nothing I had to go back for.

This trip was instigated by my dad's friend who said they had a great sunday brunch. That being said we will not be letting him sway us with any of his recommendations again. He's notorious for saying, "It was much better last time, I swear!"

Food was not horrible but nothing tho write home about and at the risk of sounding redundant, overpriced! $17 per person for brunch, not including drinks or tip.

It was the service that I was appalled with. Don't roll your eyes at me when we ask for more coffee and tea. If you were doing your job I wouldn't have had to ask. It's a buffet for christ sake, filling drinks is your only job! Also, as much as I like watching you talk to each other while on the job, can have a plate at the buffet or am I supposed to carry it back in my hands and set it on the table? I guess I could put in on my dirty plate that won't ever get cleared. And last time I checked, gumbo is a soup for which it is necessary to have a bowl and a spoon, neither of which exist at Pappadeaux apparently.

We could have gone to Lucille's had delicious food, paid half the price, and had good service. While I didn't have to wait to be seated here, I would wait 2 hours to have what Lucille's offers compared to this place.

Sunday Brunch $16.95 First thought is it sounds a little high for breakfast but if you eat just once... Roll Breakfast Lunch and Dinner into one...  brilliant

Normally I am not out to try to make the line any longer at a place it takes a while to get into but. I have done a little traveling in the last couple years and I am amazed what gets by as a brunch.... Brunch oat many places I stay I avoid. Weekend brunch is a bad word in my traveling vocabulary... I have seen Scrambled Egg surprise, Bacon ala jerky, Potatoes du jour and Boxed cereal  with the melon from last nights bridal centerpiece go for the same price as the " hotels weekend brunch".

Not so at Pappadeaux Come hungry.
A very nice layout with lots of selection.
It's a brunch served in warming trays but Omelets Waffles and a carving station. We had a larger family get together and they accommodated every ones tastes (hard to do) One suggestion is I would stay away from the Bloody Mary they have on special It was bitter not just to my own tastes the other three people at the table all ordered just one.

Anyway When you are in between diets.... Go

Frankly if you are looking for something light and build a lower Cal fresh you could probably build a very nice special meal with out breaking the calorie bank.

I had eaten at a Pappadeux's once before (in Atlanta) and it wasn't a bad experience, so when a large group of us decided to go out to dinner for my birthday I figured it was a safe bet.  WRONG.  Although some of my cohorts weren't unhappy with their orders, A friend and I were utterly aghast when we tasted our food and even more so at our waiter's response when we let him know we weren't going to eat it.

We had both ordered this seafood medley dish which was in the neighborhood of $25-30 and when we finally got it we both took one or two bites and put our forks down for the very same reason.  The food was inedibly salty.  It was so salty, in fact, that it sent a shocking chill down my spine.  Short of emptying a can of iodized table salt straight into my mouth, I don't think that anything could have been saltier.

As if that wasn't bad enough, when the waiter finally came back and saw our uneaten food he simply asked if we wanted it to go.  After explaining why we did not want to eat it at the restaurant or 'to go', we asked him to remove it from our bill since neither one of us ate more than two bites of the dish.  He said that he couldn't and brought over the manager who said the same thing.  The manager said the best he could do was to comp us a dessert.  I told him that since it was my birthday, I was getting free dessert anyway, duh!  He just shrugged and said that was the best he could do.  So we basically ended up paying over $70 for two bites of some of the most revolting food I have ever had in my life.  I will never go to a Pappadeaux's again after this horrible experience.

Happy Lent Everyone!

I've dined at Pappadeaux a number of times and can say that I really enjoy the food and the service. The menu offers something for everyone in your party, including the health conscious and the non-seafood eater. It is a little spendy for an ordinary night out, but a good value for the quality and quantity of food that you receive.

Based on the mix of high and low reviews for this Pappadeaux location, I would have to agree that the experience is somewhere in the middle with three stars.

I had lunch here with a work colleague a few months back and was really excited at his suggestion to hit up Pappa D's.  I've been to the Tech Center location many times, and have always had good experiences there be it lunch or dinner so what the heck!

Not sure if the place is just in an odd spot for lunch (getting in and out of the parking lot can be a beotch) or if it's just not a mid-day retreat for the peeps up North, but it was dead on this visit.  Not like there are a few tables here and a few back there, but boiled lobster parts DEAD.  I think the two of us made up 50% of the customer base.  That said...the service by our waitress Tara at the bar was out of this world!  A great conversationalist and really hit it off with my lunch pal.

For the food...let's just say I was under impressed with what came from the kitchen. The Mardi Gras Bowl was good, but lacked taste and flavor, which I was hoping for given the name of the dish.  My lunch buddy enjoyed his sausage and crawfish bowl, but also commented on the quality.  No app's or desert on this trip, but really wasn't into it after the entrée.

All in all I'm sure the North Siders love this place for dinner, but after a $40 tab on lunch for two...I'll find a sandwich shop next time I'm in the area.

Pappadeaux isn't too bad if you're not used to eating really fresh fish.  I find that most of the entrees are covered in some sort of heavy seasoning and WAY too much salt which leads me to think that maybe they are trying to mask the fact that the fish isn't as fresh as it should be.
I like the bar there and I hear they have a decent happy hour.  If you've got friends in town and you want an alternative to Red Lobster, Pappadeaux is worthwhile... however you'll have to dig deeper in your pocket book than you would at Red Lobster.

Pappadeaux... people seem to either love or hate this place.  I fall somewhere in the middle.

It reminds me of other decent chain restaurants that specialize in Seafood, i.e.King's Fish House, except with a more pronounced cajun theme.

Prices are on the high side, but all of the food was very flavorful.  I had tuna covered with a crab and lobster butter sauce; it was delicious.

Service was curt and the waiter brought us the check before asking if we wanted coffee or dessert.  That was bizarre.

In conclusion, very enjoyable food, but expensive and poor service.  Come during off hours, and expense it if you can!

Pappadeaux or Pappadon't?

I really didn't find too much to fault this place on, but at the same time I didn't get too excited about anything either.

I didn't have to pay for my meal nor have full selection of the menu, as I was attending a recruitment dinner for a financial firm (yeah some are still hiring).  Thus, my review is based on limited perceptions.

The service was fantastic.  I think our waiter refilled my drink atleast four times.  However, the food was humdrum.  I had the ribeye, and while tasty, I'd imagine it wasn't cheap on the menu.

Ultimately, this restaurant has an impressive, inviting exterior, but I would opt against it for a more complete restaurant experience.

If you aren't in the mood for an actual meal, then this is a great place to go.

Let me explain:
Appetizers are wonderful! Seafood fondue is amazing, and enough to make you and your dining companion consider skipping a main course anyway.

I've dined here three or four times and each time have been disappointed with their entrees (definitely stay away from the cedar plank salmon unless you like to eat wood-flavored fish).

Their desserts are also amazing! I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but their banana pudding served is a mason jar is delicious!

I've always found service to be excellent. The staff is knowledgeable and courteous.

If you want a quick snack, or enjoy yourself at a bar, this is a good place to go...as long as you don't order an entree.

Yep, I'm going to have to agree with Raoul.  This place is overpriced.  On the other hand, the food was quite good, the waitstaff friendly, and the ambiance pleasant.

Still, expect to drop around $30 bucks a head for lunch (with tip), and you could probably count on doubling that for dinner if you have any taste for the drink...

I guess my real issue is that I have spent enough time in the Big Easy to know what real, down home Cajun cookin' is supposed to taste like and be priced at...

At least they have lobsters on 'death row' right at the door.  Poor little bastards....  Poor, tasty, tasty little bastards...

The concept of fresh seafood so far inland makes me nervous. That said, the wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our date night at Pappadeaux- the staff was very friendly, the restaurant clean, and the food was great. Oh, and I had what was quite possibly the best margarita I've ever had here!

The price is the downside, but I guess it's to be expected when you fly the fish in daily, right?

Had one of the worst (if not the worst) restaurant experiences of my life here. It was busy for a thursday night. We had put our name on the list and gotten the hocky-puck buzzer thingy and went outside to wait. After about a 45 minutes (they said about 20 minutes) they came out with a little tray of appetizers. Maybe ten of the twenty people waiting got something off the tray but I wanted to wait. After an hour rolled by and people that seemed to have arrived after we had had been buzzed, I went inside to check. They said our table was up next (uh-huh, the standard, "well, let's see,   you're next ploy". Sh*t.) another fifteen rolled by and I headed in to tell them what to do with their hockey puck. "We were just coming out to get you. Your table is ready.".  Sat down, ordered drinks and checked out the menu. We were a table of six, our twenty-something waitress took our order and then disappeared.... Literally. After the tables around us that arrived later all had their salads and apps for fifteen minutes, I asked someone that looked like they worked there if we could speak to our waitress. No, sorry I don't remember names but she looks like that waitress over there, or that one, or that other one. The other tables had their dinners. I'm pissed off. "What did we order?". (Can I f#cking see a menu! It's been so long ago I don't remember!) came out as, an angry "we'll need a menu!".  Oh look here's our waitress. Oh you just started, and that guy is your manager and your really sorry and you don't want to get in more trouble ("more" should have sent me packing) and you'll have our order out right away. Well at least she still had our order (or at least I thought) and a vague promise about getting the meal comped which was a LIE! kept us from storming out. This was well into hour three and we still had not been served!
The horrible-ness did not end there but I'm done crying in my beer. F^ck You and the horse you rode in on Pappa Doe's!  man, they even took our goddam money.

I'd also agree that the prices are well on the high side.
Don't bother going if you're at all worried about your waistline, either. Pretty much everything comes double-serving sized and smothered in something rich and fatty (not that that's a bad thing in my book, mind you).

All that aside, if you know what you're getting into, the food is more than passable, the drinks are mighty nice, and the servers we've had have been excellent.

The place is huge, too, so you end up not feeling cramped even when it's busy.

The food may or may not be authentic, but it's good.  I stay away from anything deep-fried, which really cuts the size of that menu for me.  I mostly order either crawfish etouffee or blackened softshell crab.  I also love their dirty rice.  During the season, they've got crawfish specials when they give you these giant trays of crawfish for like $2.

It's a chain, but a very well run one.  The servers are always attentive and friendly, and overseen by gestapo managers who patrol the floor constantly.  I think that's probably why the servers are sometimes over-eager.  The place can be a zoo, but they obviously put a lot of time and energy into training, and it shows.  The decor is Vegas-y and over-the-top, but somehow it works.

I like Pappadeaux's food and have enjoyed visits to many other locations but this one has not figured out kitchen management yet.

On two separate Saturday nights (July 2007 & Sept 2007), we were met with a kitchen that was out of the majority of the menu.  On one occasion they were out of both rice and baked potatoes, the 4 out of 5 of the fresh fish dishes and the creme brule.  Huh??? how can you be out of rice and potatoes, but they were.

To be fair to the staff, the managers and our waiters on both occasions were very attentive and understood our frustration.  The manager was at our table apologizing without us requesting them, they comp'ed several of the items of our meals plus gave us gift cards.

We haven't been back in the last few months, despite the gift cards.  Hopefully they have gotten their kitchen together by now.

Although Pappadeaux is a "chain" restaurant, I love their food. It's "rich", diverse, and they can definitely "spice it up" if you ask. Fresh fish of all kinds, hush puppies, great breads, and great sides make this a place I could eat at every night (if I wanted to resemble Paul Prudhome)... :)

One warning: Make reservations.... This place gets BUSY on Friday and Saturday nights!

Man, you guys are too kind.
This place's prices are insane, and the food is far from anything I've ever had in the South. Plus, my mom was from Mississippi, and her gumbo, etouffe, etc. was the real thing, so I'm probably a little hard to please in that regard.
On the plus side, it's a beautiful place, and the service was mostly friendly and attentive. (My wife remembers this differently: good service at the bar, lame when we got to the table.) Maybe a little TOO attentive, after we finally got our entrees. I wish some of these kids would learn not to pop up every five minutes with, "Is everything OK?", but I guess that's better than the alternative, LOL!
I wish I could take you folks to some of the little mom-an'-pop places in the South, and treat you to some REAL cajun/creole that won't force you to take out a second mortgage on your house.
As a reasonable compromise, go to one of the Lucile's locations, Boulder, (the original), Longmont, or Denver. That's as close as you'll get to the real thing around here, I'm afraid, although it'll still cost you a buck or two.

I love me some Pappadeaux. I know its not local......which is what Yelp is all about, but I have to get you guys to go try some good cajun. They do it up. All kinds of oysters, delicious fish, etoufee, jambalaya, gumbo,  stuffed shrimp(my very own personal fav) and some great salads too. Go hungry and with a full wallet, b/c you need to order some oysters to start, a big ol meal, and maybe even dessert if you can stand it. And Steve is right...they do get busy!
