We visited ATL this past weekend and I ate there for the first time. Being a seafood lover, I was excited to try this place. It was a Saturday night, and the place was packed with people! Our waiting time estimated to be about an hour but I believe it was a little less than that.

We had a table of 7. We were seated and greeted by the waitress. She was great. Took out orders promptly, and took care of us extremely well! As we were waiting on our entrees, I believe it was the manager who came out and told us our dinners were taking a little longer than it should and he apologizes and offered us complimentary desserts! We were ecstatic! Because, with all the food that we ordered, we knew we would never get to the desserts.

All in all, the food was great, we had calamari, alligator, lobster, stuffed crab, soft shell crab.. the service was exceptional and the desserts were the best!

If you're in the area, and if you love seafood, be sure to stop by Pappadeaux! You won't be disappointed!

One of my favorite restaurants, period!

I started coming to Pappadeaux ten years ago, and is probably second to my family in terms of reasons I come home to Georgia. I'm really into Cajun food, and for a chain restaurant, Pappadeaux's food still comes off as house-made authentic, and most importantly DELICIOUS!

I always get myself into trouble when we get to the appetizers. I'm a sucker for the fondeaux, which is chock full of crawfish, shrimp, spinich, and cheese and goes great on their toasted bread. other great choices include their oysters and alligator tails.

As for their menu, you really can't go wrong. I'm a fan of their fried seafood platter, but I also like their fish dishes (of which their are many, the blackened salmon being one standout to me), and their crawfish etouffee.

For desert, the bread pudding tops the list. It's not too sweet, has a great caramel rum sauce, and is great for sharing. They have a mini desert platter too with bread pudding, creme brulee, and pecan pie that is also amazing.

The Jimmy Carter location does get crowded often, so getting their closer to 5 will get you a table faster (though now with three locations, I think customers have started to spread out to some of the others too). The setting is a good mix of cozy and lively.

For the over 21 crowd, be sure to sip on their Swamp Thang, which is a mix of a frozen hurricane and a frozen margarita! Yum :)

The Marietta location kills this one in terms of service and quality.  My spaghetti squash (something I order every time) came as more of a salt-loaded puree than the stringy goodness it's supposed to be.  It was very obviously the end of a batch.  Server acted like I was stupid when I asked for a new order, but it arrived looking like it was supposed to and tasted oh-so-good.

I was disappointed in the service.  This location is closer to me, but I'd drive to Marietta for the better experience any day of the week.

We have to admit we ate at Houston Pappadeaux's in the late 80's-early 90's and had to stop here when we saw it on the road.

Our service was good but the place is very noisy-you can barely hear yourself think.  And it was busy-any place that can sit 60 people in the outside waiting area is set-up for crowds so don't expect a quiet place to talk.

My pan grilled Talapia was great and the others liked their catfish poorboy.  All the fish was cooked exactly right (I did see the complaints on overcooking so that would be an issue for sure).

My hot water for tea was so-so; it obviously came from a coffee pot.

The staff was well organized from my view and we did enjoy the taste from 'the past' of cajun seafood for the masses.

Wow.  I visited Atlanta, but left thinking I had been to grandma Bertha's kitchen in Louisiana.  My experience at this restaurant met and exceeded all of my expectations.

Decor:  Wonderful outside display with a beautiful fountain.  Walking inside these gates puts you into an entirely different atmosphere compared to its surroundings; almost like walking into a theme park.  Inside has wonderful lighting, tanks with fresh lobsters, just an overall good feel.

Staff:  Our waiter was great, but what made this staff so good is that they work as a team.  Even though we had a waiter assigned to our table, we had two different waiters come by and spontaneously refill our sweet ice tea and take our dishes away.  You can tell the manager holds them to a high standard.

Food:  Ahh, the highlight.  I never thought fried alligator would be SO good.  It tastes like chicken, but better.  The calamari was fried to perfection.  My appetizer was a gumbo and half of a catfish po' boy sandwich.  Of course this was washed down by a sweet die to die for.

Being in this place just makes you feel GOOD.  And for all this wonderful food and service, it wasn't even expensive!  I see why all the rappers talk about this restaurant.  "Meet me out a Pappadeaux's.  Table in the front, so I can see who in and out the door." ^_^

Went here as part of a big (~15 people) group, so this may not be a typical experience. We were here to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant is busy on weekends and there is a band playing out front to entertain people that are waiting for a table. Most parties seem to have a waiting time of 30 minutes. It is incredible busy so make sure to make a reservation to enjoy the waiting time with the band.

We waited 30 minutes to get seated which is to be expected for a party of 15 people. We were seated in a side room, where they also have a TV going (not bad on a night when college football is on). The side room was much less noisy than the main room, which had a very high degree of noise, making it close to impossible to carry a conversation.

We ordered a variety of dishes as appetizers and entrees. The salads were prepared ahead of time and my cesar salad had soggy croutons and  was at best OK. The bisques were tasty. The fried onions, ... were OK.

The main dishes are HUGE they could easily feed two people and many people end up leaving with a take away box. Quite a waste of food. We had fried tapalia and atlantic salmon. Both dishes were seriously overcooked and very dry. All the dishes at our table were overcooked.

The servers at our table were reaching over the table and across to serve people. In one instance they knocked over a glass resulting in drinks all over the table. Not a very professional server experience.

If you are looking for a great time with lots of food, this might be the place, for the culinary experience will not be the reason you go here. It is loud, busy and plenty of food, but with basic service, over cooked food and a hard time to carry a conversation.

Food: New Orleans style Seafood spot.

I had the Shrimp Po-Boy. I was a solid meal. It came with fries. No complaints.  I also tasted the Fried Alligator as well as the Calamari. Neither one of those were special.

    Workers: Friendly. No complaints

Atmosphere: Nice casual spot. We went there midday Monday. Not crowded at all but I would assume it gets packed during typical peak hours.

    Solid spot.

    SIMPLY DELICIOUS FOOD!!!!!!!

Definitely one of my all time favorite restaurants!!

Over half of the metro Atlanta area can't be wrong, because this place is always full of people from all over.  The food is great, the servers are very friendly and professional.  The ambience is casual, yet exciting and even initimate all at the same time.  I have a wonderful time on every visit whether I'm with my friends or on a date.  This spot is consistant with the atmosphere and the food, it is ALWAYS on point!  I've tried just about everything on the menu, but my favorite is the salmon on cedar plank with the lobster & shrimp sauce, I can taste it now!  Just thinking about it makes me hungry. The dessert is to die for, eating here makes the worst cook want to know how to cook!  When you really want a great meal and enjoy your evening, this is the place!!!!!!

I had lunch here again this week and I am still thinking about the lobster, shrimp, mango and avocado salad I had.  It was so good!  I have been here several times and it is consistently great.  The service is always top notch and our server, Corey did an excellent job.  My husband perfectly described this place as one of those good chains, kind of like Houston's.  They only have a few locations and they are all great.

Our table shared dessert.  We had the banana bread pudding and it was incredible.  Everyone swooned over it!  We usually take clients here.  It is the perfect restaurant for a business lunch or dinner.  The only complaint I would have is that it is always packed and it can get a bit noisy.  But, you do not feel rushed, you know the service, food and price will all be right on.  I can't wait to have an excuse to go back!

Don't go here if you are in a rush to get your food. Aside from not being about to find a parking spot, the wait for a table is ridiculously long on a Saturday night.  My date and I got there at 8:30pm, and the wait was 45 minutes to 1 hour.  Not that bad for a Saturday night, but we noticed that as others were coming in, they were being quoted up to 2 hours.

When we finally got our table, we were seated by the restroom (yes I had a major problem with that), but the waitress said she couldn't move us do to the fact that they were so crowded (plus, we already waited 1 hour for the table-ugh!)

Our waitress was very attentive, knowledgeable, and nice.  She made suggestions and didn't pester us too much.  For the appetizer, we ordered the Appetizer Trio (calamari, alligator tail, and shrimp fondeaux).  The calamari was alright at best, but the Alligator Tail and Fondeaux were really good.  My date ordered a cup of the Lobster Bisque.  That was pretty tasty (of course I tried it).  For his main dish he had the Pasta Mardi Gras which came with Andouille Sausage, Crawfish, and Shrimp (I didn't try that one).  He said the sausage was very spicy and he could tell that they made the sausage and it wasnt store bought.  I had the 7oz Atlantic Salmon w/garlic mashed potatoes, which I enjoyed with the lemon caper sauce (yum).  It was soooo good.

I'm not sure what the bill came to (I was on a date), but I tried to follow along with the order.  Most of the entrees were roughly around $20.  This isn't a place that you would go to if you were on a major budget, but the portions are big and you will definitely go home with a doggie bag. So maybe you can get 2 meals for the price of one since you will have something to savor flavor on the next day.

A very solid four stars for one of Atlanta's better restaurants, a consistent delight over the years that still upholds its good reputation. We dined on a packed Saturday night, dozens of people waiting, and almost nothing that could have gone wrong actually went wrong. The food was delicious, the service friendly, the interior bustling but not overly-loud and the drinks tall, cold and fizzy.

Too many dishes here to comment on all. Let's call out the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake, lightly breaded in a cream sauce with crawfish tails that just gets more succulent with each bite (still not quite at the level of our favorite drab cakes at Guppys in St. Petersburg and Kitty Hawk Cafe in the Outer Banks); fried calamari, crispy and tangy with either seafood sauce or a spicy garlic mayonnaise; Yellowfin Tuna, thin slices neatly peppered on a bed of argula and fresh onion; and Seafood Gumbo with Andouille Sausage, thick and rich and filled with big shrimp, awash with white rice. Yes, we can go on, but you surely get the idea. Did we mention this is a Louisiana restaurant?

Several minor complaints keep us from giving it five stars. The meal was interrupted more times than we wished for loud announcements for parties waiting for seating. And we were served our gumbo before finishing the appetizers, sort of throwing everything on the table into a tad of culinary chaos. Small things to be sure, but all the same ... Needless to say, we'll be back. Again.

My Atlanta vacation requires a few things.  Sun, wamrth and seafood.

I popped in last night and ya'll were not joking, this place was packed.

What I loved about this place, decor, the outdoor seating so you could get your drink on and watch the band or sit next to the wishing fountin.

The service was amazing, my waiter Johnathan was very sweet and had a nice smile.   The whole staff was amazing and answered all my questions with a smile.

The food was yummy, I had lobster bisque and it tasted like the bisque i had at the cape.  Just yummy and warm and had a good amount of lobster.  I also had half dozen oysters that were good and meaty I like meaty.

If I am in town again I will defininitly make this a go to spot for dinner.

I have been to this place multiple times for the boudain, a sausage filled with dirty rice. Ofcourse I usually eat other things...calamari, crab legs, shrimp. Everything except for the boudain is just "okay". People go crazy for this place but I dont see why. I have never had to wait more than 10 min even though it is always packed to the rim and I usually get good service from the waiters. If all this was out of the equation and your going there only for the great food I'd say just drivedown to an olive garden or something. Its overpriced for no reason at all.

This place was packed to the hilt at 6pm on a Friday. we went here on our way to Dave and Buster's. The crawfish and shrimp fondeaux was great. I could have just had that for my meal and been happy.
I got fried crawfish and it was fine. Nothing to write home about.

Service was attentive  and that's always a good thing.

When we were leaving around 7, there was a HUGE wait. Apparently, this place is ALWAYS packed but if you go early, it's ok. I won't go out of my way to eat here but it was ok.

Service was great and food was yummy. I ordered calamari and grilled salmon.

About a decade ago, the first time I ever came here was with my co-worker and boss. That's the first time I ever had alligator. Sure did taste like chicken :D

OK.  So I have eaten here several times over the years.  I like it.  Specifically, I like the food in general here, always have.

This latest time though I noted a few things.  First, there seems to be some general changes in service and staff.  I can't quite describe it; but it does not seem to be the same it once was.  You may pick up on it too when you go.

Last night our service was slow and the drinks seemed weak to me.  I had good company to make up for it all; but it shouldn't be as slow as it was.  Relative to the drinks, I cannot say for certain if it was our waitress directly responsible for the slowness getting them back to our table or if it was the bar/bartender.  Regardless, we waited a bit, at least for the first round.  Seemed it may have sped up ever so slightly on the couple of subsequent rounds, but still, a little on the pokey side.

The food?  It was really pretty good.  The calamari was not the best I've ever had but it was still good.  My buddy and I polished off a larger order of it in no time.  A great appetizer still.

I had the fried shrimp and scallops and ordered a little bit of fried crawfish on the side.  I was at Pappadeaux.  I had to get me some crawfish.

It was all good too but nothing over the top.  I have had better of everything.  Of course, Pappadeaux is known for piling on the fillers, read: french fries; and last night was no exception.  There were tons of them under my fried goodness; but I did not even attempt to get through them all.  I recommend you too focus on the main eats and nibble on the sideline items.  It was a good meal but nothing spectacular.

I had the banana pudding and a cappuccino for dessert.  What can I say?  You can't go wrong with the pudding; and the coffee went so well with it.

Overall, it's still good for the most part but something was just a little off.  I really should give this last experience overall a 3 out of 5; but I still manage to like this place when I go.

When people come from out of town to visit our office they always want to have dinner at Pappadeaux, so I've been there a bunch of times and every time I leave confused.

The food is so-so, it's pricey, the service is spotty and the place is always PACKED that my chair gets bumped the whole time.

I finally convinced some of our customers and co-workers to venture downtown to One Midtown Kitchen, Sotto Sotto and Two Urban Licks and now they (like me) never want to go back to Pappadeaux.

I think it's simply a matter of If you don't know how good food can be, than you like Pappadeaux because it "seems fancy", but in actuality it's just a fancy Red Lobster and for the same money you can go to a really good restaurant and get mind blowing food.

Pappas restaurants have a reputation for being consistent, and it's soooo true.  I've worked at two different Pappadeaux locations and I didn't feel like I had left Houston while dining at this location.  The service was right on point, the food tasted just as it should and the drinks were as delicious as always.  I'm not really able to rave and rave, because it is just another seafood chain, but I will say that I didn't have any complaints at all.

    Get the fried alligator! Yum!!!

The gumbo was okay for me. I don't know where they got their shrimp from, but it's nasty! It was probably the water the shrimp was raised in or where they got their supply from. The smell of the cooked shrimp was like fishy if you know what I mean. It stinks. For a bowl of seafood gumbo ($8ish), the seasoning of the gumbo wasn't anything to die for. The texture was good. They could have made it a little bit spicier.

Overall, I like the alligator and would return to try something else on the menu... like scallop, fish, lobster, or crawlfish =)

You mean to tell me I've not written a review for this place? (welp Yelp said I didn't so...)

One of my favorite things is the fried seafood platter but I haven't had it in years since it's always too much food. Lately I'be been getting the chicken fingers and fries or the grilled chicken salad. I tell them exactly what I want in my salad and it is nothing but perfect every time!

I took my daughter here on my birthday, 8/26, and decided that was the day I'd try something new. I had the tilapia topped with crawfish and shrimp...it was good. Needed a pinch of salt...but good. Also I had the garlic mashed potatoes, which are always tasty.

The best part of the evening was enjoying my free b'day dessert, bread pudding and my drink...a Swamp Thing. This is where the story gets interesting...

My b'day was on a Thurs and on Sat my company had an outing at 6 Flags. I had 1/2 tank of gas but asked my daughter to go fill up...guess what? NO DEBIT CARD!  I LEFT IT AT DIS DAMN PLACE! LMAO. Thank goodness I had $25 in a b'day card in case we needed anything extra at the park but I left the house with the gas I had, which was plenty...I'm 25 mins away from there.  Luckily, they had my card. I told the manager that I had one Swamp Thing too many...and I only had one! LOL

Although I love this place, I didn't wanna drive here after 7.5 hours at 6-Flags but I must say that if I didn't have my daughter and her two friends with me...I'dda had another Swamp Thing!

I've eaten at Pappadeaux since discovering it in1995 in San Antonio.  Consistent food quality, and service in every location I've been to in Texas and Georgia.

You MUST try: The crabfingers dinner, the shrimp etouffee, and the bread pudding. Im hungry just thinking about it.

This place is always super busy! They do take reservations though so that helps out a lot. The food here is good but I usually only go when they have their boiled crawfish or their oyster specials. The boiled crawfish here is sooo good! 1 1/4lb is $7.95 and it comes with potatoes and corn. The increase in price for the crawfish kinda sucks but it's so tasty that I don't mind too much. The oysters here are decent sized and always taste fresh. Service is good for the most part.

Having moved from New Orleans, it was amazing to see a menu with all the food I have been missing. I had the pan-grilled talapia with the herb lemon sauce on top. The fish was perfectly cooked and tasted wonderful. Other members of my family had fried oysters and the gumbo. No one complained about their dish at all. The atmosphere is great for groups or couples. The staff were very attentive to our party which made our experience very enjoyable.  When I'm back in this area, I will come back here.

The food was average and the service was above average. But, I'm not sure why people act like it's the bomb. Believe me, many people seem to LOVE this place. We waited 35 minutes for a table on a Tuesday night. My meal took a long time to arrive at the table, mainly because they dropped it in the kitchen and prepared another one. The management, however, was excellent. It explained the delay and offered us free appetizers and dessert. The banana pudding is almost outstanding! I think it's cute that it comes in a Mason jar. As for dinner, I had the mixed seafood grill with dirty rice. It was tasty but nothing to make me push others to try.

The first time I went here I ordered the mussels appetizer. Was OK, but I've had better. The second time I ordered the seafood/sausage gumbo. Again, have had better. It was way too thin. This place is over-priced! If I'm going to spend that kind of money I'd rather go to Atlanta Fish Market!

If you want good cajun, check out Rogatilla in Tucker -- not as wide a selection regarding seafood, but worth trying.

It's been years since i've stopped by for a visit. Well, I had a business meeting which turned into something like a pseudo pan asian mariachi band in the patio! It was pretty fun, even tho it wasn't suppose to! So I met up with the guys and he decided that it was such a lovely day, he was going to invite some "fathers" out to have a few drinks with him. Yes, fathers do drink, smoke and curse these days.

Anyways, Kim, our waitress was the sweetest and bestest ever. They usually don't serve out in the patio but I think she made an exception for us as our table grew bigger by the hour. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and they were very good, just like when I first had it back in 2000. We had the awesome mussel gratins and it was awesome, I wanted to baptized myself in the garlic butter sauce! The calamari was ok but a bit soggy. I think there were too much battered so it made it heavy. The oysters were pretty fresh and healhy looking. I also had a cup of seafood gumbo and got a big fat oyster in my soup and it tasted great!

For dessert, we had creme brulee and fried banana ice cream and both were just ok. I wish they had tiramisu, that would have made my day! Nonetheless, the service was great and so was the food for the price that it is.

Well, the guys decided that they wanted to sing after 3 bottles of riesling and several heinekens... so one of them pull out their guitar. We had a bit of an audience after that.

I had such a great time and I think it has to do with the environment, beautiful breezy day, great service, great companies, good wine and good food. Of course I had a major hangover the next day but it was worth it!

Sigh, restaurants like these seriously promote unhealthy portion sizes of deeply fried foods...

I went here on a Friday night and they don't take reservations, nor do they seat you without the entire party present. There were about 18 of us, and it a took over an hour but it wasn't unbearable. The service was great and efficient; I really was expecting it to take a lot longer than it did.

    HOWEVER.
It took me forever to find something decent on the menu. Everything is so expensive! I don't really care that they supposedly give you a great deal of food for the money. Why do we need a serving of mashed potatoes that are the size of two girly hands!? I'd rather pay less and have a smaller amount.

I decided to splurge and ordered the pan seared scallops. There were FOUR.. with a monstrous side of mashed potatoes.. for $20.
My friends ordered similar items, and even the guys at the table were suprised at the amount of potatoes (and then of course proceeded to lick their plates clean)

I do have to say that I enjoyed their frog legs.. and I've come here before with family for the all-you-can-eat lobster and it's always been delicious and a good deal. I just dont get the fried seafood craze. I feel like we could easily find a cheaper place (i.e. Crawfish Shack) to satisfy those cravings for less.

Their lunch prices look way more reasonable and it seems like a much better deal to go then.

Regardless, I will hopefully not be back!

Seafood. Is this place good? Is it bad? Standard french fries. Not a place I dream about.

Huge selection. Huge portions. Always packed at dinner time.

Pappadeaux is comfort food meets creole/seafood.

For my second time here, we ordered: appetizer sampler (calamari, fried gator tail, shrimp and crayfish "fondue); chicken/shrimp tenders with dirty rice entree; halibut alexander entree; dessert sampler (mini creme brulee, bread pudding, sweet potato pecan pie).

    Pro's:

    - Almost anything you order will be decent.
    - Some really tasty items available in every category: appetizer, entree, soups, desserts
    - Lots of options!
    - Service was friendly and good

    Con's:

    - Everything is "really good but". Almost everything had one tiny thing that I'd change to have it be ideal. Dirty rice? OK, but way too much of it. Alexander sauce? Very tasty, but crayfish in it were a little overcooked. Calamari on the sampler appetizer? Very light and wonderful, sauce to dip not memorable. Halibut? Good flavor but a little dry

    - I'd rather have smaller portions for a lower price, instead of massive portions for a sizeable price. Wanted to try several things since we were from out of town and craving variety, ended up having to take stuff home.

    - my tummy can't handle all the fried food/cheese sauces, though my mouth thanks me for trying them. Whoops, TMI?

Overall, I'm sure I'll go back. Their Mardi Gras pasta is just fantastic (I know from a previous visit). But I'll go back and plan to order one thing and have it over several meals, and know that everything won't be quite perfect.

I usually frequent Pappadeaux's with a large group from work, whenever we need to make big group reservations and take some team members out for some BIG food with BIG taste!

Being from New Orleans, and as chef of my own Cajun-style recipes, I am a bit of a Cajun food snob. And while Pappadeaux's doesn't quite take me to the French Quarter, it sure gives me a taste of home + a super-fun atmosphere to go along with it. Again, not quite Bourbon St. - but that Hurricane cocktail I enjoyed last time made me think I was partying at Mardi Gras!

The appetizers are all fun, and more than enough to share! My personal fav is the fried Alligator tail - seriously you MUST try it; tastes like chicken, honest : - ) Other dining partners always choose the coconut shrimp and while crunchy, sweet & even a bit spicy, not Cajun...

My entree almost ALWAYS consists of their Jambalya-style pasta. An awesome mix of succulent shrimp, sweet crawfish + smoked sausage all in a spicy tomato cream sauce, served over linguine pasta, mmm... My mouth's watering just thinking about it! This meal would be enough for two to share, but I'm usually pretty selfish & bring the remainders home for a midnight snack or Cajun breakfast, ha!

Their fresh catch menu always looks delectable & their Pontchartrain sauce is delish, I've snuck more than one taste before : - )

Even after all of this, I'm usually able to squeeze a tiny bit of dessert in. I've enjoyed the creme brulee with that perfect crust paired with fresh fruit & the fried cheesecake - YUM!!!

Looking forward to another fun work outing already...

Pappadeaux =excellent Cajun seafood.  I havent been to this place in 8 years but it was really nice hanging out here this afternoon for my lunch break.

My fried gator tail was just awesome...perfectly cooked and season and the spicy creole sauce was to die for. Pontchartrain Panbroiled Fillet Topped with crabmeat & shrimp in a brown-butter wine sauce with dirty rice just totally hit the spot.  I was in a pissed off mood cause i was pulled over by some cop but after eating everything i totally forgot about it.

The service was really good...the guy was on top of his game on making sure things were good.  Overall will eat here again!!!

People rave about this place and I was so anxious to get the opportunity to visit. The wait was kind long and the food was ok, but the staff was really attentive and friendly.

We came here for lunch. Shrimp etouffee was nice and buttery with a lot of shrimp. The friend shrimp lunch plate was huge. Lunch portions were already so huge. I can't imagine what their dinner portions are like.

Lunch was not crowded at all. We didn't have to wait to be seated at all on a Saturday. I'd definitely come back and try their dinner menu.
