One of the Business' Favorite Reviews What's This?
Note: In order to receive a 5-Star mean, eat only the taco's, especially the Anjito Pork and the guacamole. You risk your life (see below) if you venture off my proven path.
The seemingly JUMBO soft shell tacos contain all the fresh ingredients you'd except to find at any California taqueria. Contrary to the sign, this is not true Mexican street food. Close, but no cigarillo. But the Lime Anjito Pork tacos so thoroughly demolish anything in the tri-state area that I can say with confidence: best tacos in the city. Want to make them even better, BYOB for a spell between 1pm and 4pm to get half-off. That's $1.50 for a filling pocket of heaven.
I've tried everything on the menu, and if it contains cheese it would more closely approximate cheeze. Make a note of the spelling. Half of the problems with their other dishes would be rectified by using something that at least one point came from a cow.
Prepare yourself for the guac. It has a bit of a kick to it from the freshly chopped jalepeño peppers, fresh cilantro, fresh lime juice, freshly-diced tomatoes, and freshly-chopped roasted red peppers and freshly-diced red onions. An impeccable guac that can stand alone as a meal. But the oddity of this delightful treat is the ginormous avocado pit hidden just beneath the service. Please oh please! Take this retardedness out of the otherwise stupendous guac!
Burritos are to be avoided at all costs unless you like last week's meat with last week's beans an enough cheeze wiz to drown Philadelphia.
Papacito's Nachos however, are so bad that it deserves a call to the health inspector. So take my adivce, get 2-3 Lime Anjito Pork soft tacos, a bottle of Coca-Cola Classic with a side of chips and guac. Just the way Julia used to make for me in San Francisco.
(I've not had their brunch so I cannot attest to its ability to satisfy.)
First off: the tostadas seem like they're made in-house, which is amazing. Hard to find house made tostadas anywhere in New York.
I agree with other reviewers who mention that the food at Papacito's isn't as good as e.g. La Superior, but come on, the two restaurants are about three miles apart. In northern Greenpoint (really, anywhere in Greenpoint), Papacito's is the only option if you want good, fresh tacos, etc.
And the tacos ARE in fact good and fresh. If you're a vegan, or dating one, you'll be happy you came here. And everything is cheap. The total for dinner for two (two tacos apiece, an order of guacamole (very good, by the way) and two margaritas), was $32. I recommend the house margarita, which is made with grapefruit and jalapeno, and costs about $5. A nice, spicy alternative to its typical brethren, and half the price of the same sort of thing at Barrio Chino.
Calling the atmosphere casual is like calling the Port Authority "a little dingy," but who cares? The dining room is pleasant enough (you're eating tacos, after all) and the service is way friendly and attentive.
The food here is pretty good. I particularly love the Tostadas they are always perfectly crispy.
I hate when i see reviews complaining about bad service because I often feel that the complaints are way too dramatic but unfortunately I need to complain about the staff here. The staff here is just odd, they always act like they are overwhelmed even when there is no one in there. Also, they aren't even consistent with their own policies. One day they are BYOB, on day they aren't....what's up with that? They do have a liquor license now so this is no longer issue...
The five star reviews are far too generous. The food is good, but it's not close to the bliss that La Superior serves.
My biggest complaint about Papacito's is that they're out of guacamole about 70% of the time. I would understand if I had come for a late dinner or between lunch and dinner but that has never been the case. Seriously, seven out of the ten times I have eaten here---they're out of guacamole. It has become a running joke with my girlfriend and me.
Get a kitchen manager or fire the one you have.
My other issue with Papacito's is the confusion that is constantly displayed by the front of the house. Either many of these folks have never worked in a restaurant before, they smoke a lot of pot before their shift, or both.
I really want this place to do well, but I don't know how much more of "we're outta guac" and bad versions of "who's on first" I can take
I crave the chile verde pork tacos daily. I am thinking about them right now. And at around 7 dollars for three, how can I resist?? I was a long-time west coaster searching for a dependable Mexican place in NY. This is it. And the sweet 'tender did a celebratory shot with my bf and I for our birthday. So.. perfect, basically.
I'm going to give Papacito's a 5 star review because I usually enjoy the food and am immensely pleased at the wide array of vegan options.
HOWEVER, I HAVE BEEN VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THEIR DELIVERY SERVICE FOR QUITE A WHILE.
every time i make the same order, vegan nachos (yes i know the cheese doesnt melt) and a vegan burrito. every single time they mess up the nacho order and deliver regular nachos. every time. by the time the right order gets to us we have lost our desire to eat said nachos. once the vegan burrito came with chicken, and last time when we finally got our correct nacho order delivered to us after initially waiting an hour and then another 30 minutes - THE SOYRIZO HAD A HEARTY PIECE OF CHICKEN IN IT. so gross.
so please, papacitos, please double check your delivery orders. i'm sick of you guys blaming the non-english speaking kitchen staff. check what you send. OR HOW ABOUT YOU WRITE THE ORDER ON THE ITEM SO MISTAKES ARE MINIMIZED? its getting really frustrating and i am a loyal customer that orders 1-2x per week.
thanks.
i really wanted to like papacitos, they have so many vegan/veggie options but i just don't like them. the first time i ate there i had to pick the seitan out of my burrito. i thought it was me and that i didn't like it because it tasted too much like meat and i don't like meat. i used to get the soyrizo burrito and i just thought i must not like the type of soyrizo they use (i love trader joe's). i tried the tostada with grilled veggies and couldn't eat it. i ordered the chile relleno burrito and had to dissect it and pull the breading off the pepper becasue it was so thick but then it was just gross and greasy and didn't really eat it. the chips were over fried and so so greasy and the guacamole had too many onions (and i like onions). i kind off get a queasy feeling thinking about papacitos.my boyfriend orders from them a lot but i won't eat when he does. there are so many other mexican places that are so much better like taco chulo go there instead.
BREAKFAST BURRITO! I love breakfast burritos, and was ecstatic after a rough morning dealing with the NYC Marathon runners basically shutting down all of Brooklyn and most of Manhattan to be able to have it delivered... However, it took 1.5 hours to receive. I'm going to chalk it up to the difficulties of dealing with the horribly disruptive marathon for now, but at least when they did arrive, my breakfast burritos were piping hot and fricken amazing!
I LOVE PAPACITOS. The nachos are amazing as is everything else on the menu. The staff is great as well.
I am in love with the Huevos Rancheros here. Get it get it get it. The tacos I feel are honestly over rated and not as delish and authentic as the ones from the Mexican market a few doors down. I'll stick to them for the authentic taco jams, but Papacitos has the brunch and burrito action down pat. Awesome coffee too. Service has been mixed, but they're usually pretty on point and friendly overall.
I wish I'd read Justin S.'s review before visiting Papacito's. I was led to the restaurant during a moped rally and thought nachos would be a nice dinner before more drinks down the road.
The cheese was awful and ruined my night. I also was caught pouring my own drink because I was told the restaurant was BYOB. It isn't.
Stick with the tacos, and you'll be fine.
I was very excited to try this place and while it wasn't all bad, the lack of any alcoholic beverage on a Friday night with Mexican food is just wrong. I had the fish tacos and they were not bad but nothing to write home about. I forget what my friend had but we both agreed my meal was better. The chips were kind of stale, I thought, and they ran out fo guac. Therefore, I wouldn't come here expecting a Mexican meal in the sense that you know it. I am also giving it less stars because we had quite the trek from McCarren park. so. not. worth. it.
On a different note, the waitress was adorable and super friendly and the garden was cute and funky.
All around, this place is pretty great. The food is good, the portions are generous, the staff is nice, and it's pretty cheap (esp. during weekday lunches!)
I also like that it's a real neighborhood joint, having started with a few locals and the original chef from brooklyn label as a beer garden in the back of a Thai restaurant, before taking over the indoor space as well.
Look, you're not getting gourmet molecular cuisine here, you're getting tacos. They're probably not the most authentic tacos in the world, but they taste real good, and that's what counts.
(BTW- and I have ranted about this before because it makes my blood boil, just because you're "from California," you're not automatically qualified to be an expert on what constitutes authentic Mexican food. If you're using that as a basis to form an opinion, do me a favor and book yourself a one-way flight back.)
Are you people serious? Great food? "Mexican Street Food"?? Puhleeze.
This place was an UTTER disappointment. The only things that it has going for it are...
-Chips and salsa. Chips were very fresh, as was the salsa. The latter was spicy and refreshing, just what I look forward to when I have to PAY for it.
- BYOB on the patio.
- Patio. It's outside.
That's it.
My burrito, while "wet" (I felt sketchy asking for them to "make it wet". That just means with cheese and enchilada sauce), lacked flavor and...just anything. It felt so haphazardly made. The flavors that could be found in no way worked in conjunction with each other, and I felt myself bored with every bite. Melted jack cheese can only do so much for a dish. To make matters worse, the chili verde pork was gristly and cold.
My burrito, wet, cost me $10.00. I paid $10.00 for something I ate maybe a quarter of...because it sucked so much. AND I was hungry.
THE LAST GRIPE
Service. We waited 20 minutes before someone decided it was worthwhile to come take our orders.
What a fucking joke.
Screw this place, I'd rather eat Chexican at Yummy Taco than submit myself to such torture.
I have such conflicted feelings on Papacito's. I went there twice in two weeks, but at the same time I feel that two stars is the proper rating.
I've heard such great things about Papacitos, so my first time there I was really excited, but let down. And yet, something makes me want to go back...
The whole story:
I wanted cheap food, somewhere that took cards, as I never have cash. My friend brought me here, promising that it would be cheap and plus, it's BYOB. Unfortunately we were greeted by a crazy lady who told us that it was no longer BYOB, and that the liquor authority is "oppressing small businesses" by requiring a liquor license. Now first of all, I wanted to say, "shut up and sit us, I'm hungry," second of all, I would think that restaurants would welcome the extra revenue from serving liquor, and third of all, "shut up and sit us, I'm hungry!"
So that was the first disappointment, and it was compounded by the fact that the staff wouldn't even provide us with a way to keep our beers cold on the hot hot day. And then we were told we couldn't order from the "regular" breakfast menu, because it was Saturday and brunch time. I don't get it: if you have the ingredients, why can't you make something? The only difference between the "regular" breakfast menu and the brunch menu seems to be the price, so that kinda pissed me off.
But this is where Papacito's redeems itself: the guacamole & chips were delicious, my tacos (seitan!!!) were delicious, and reasonably priced, and I left there full & happy, although I can't say the same about the rest of my group.
The second time I went (exactly a week later), I wondered what I was doing. And sure enough, it was a visit marked by a juxtaposition of weird service and delicious tacos. They were out of guacamole (!!!), which to me is like a bar being out of alcohol. GUACAMOLE!! I wanted to go to the store and buy some avocados myself, and force the kitchen to make more. WHAT KIND OF MEXICAN RESTAURANT RUNS OUT OF GUACAMOLE?? I'm still outraged, and this was quite awhile ago. I would recommend to stay away from the salsa; while the chips are amazing, the salsa is flavorless. Plus they charge for salsa, which is ridiculous. I once again got the seitan tacos, and they ruled, and my boyfriend loved his meal.
So I guess the food is 4 or 5 stars, but I've never had a 4 or 5 star experience. I'll keep on going, if only for the seitan asada, and especially once they get their liquor license, but I can only hope they get their shit together and keep the guacamole flowing!
Ordered some burritos last weekend (Portland and Vegan seitan).
They were EXCELLENT.
I guess it's hit and miss, but definitely a hit at the moment.
Tater tots+egg in a burrito = love.

Here is the issue with all of the bad reviews of this place: YOU ARE ORDERING WRONG.
Everyone here hates the burritos - STOP ORDERING BURRITOS.
Everyone here thinks this place is too expensive - $1.50 TACOS UNTIL 4PM. YOU CAN AFFORD THAT.
Everyone hates the fake cheese they use - NO MORE NACHOS, OK?
Stick to the tacos, go during taco happy hour, order chips and gauc and you will love it. I am only deducting one star because the service is a little lackadaisical and they are not great about refilling the room temperature water they give you.
Papacito's is the best Mexican food in this area of Greenpoint-the burritos are huge and the chicken quesadilla is to die for. The prices are a bit high in comparison to other similar places-a burrito might be $8 or $9. But the service is very good and they just expanded and remodeled the dining room, which is really lovely-nice, dark ambiance.
Perfect for non-dairy nacho lovers! We'll be getting the bigger vegan nachos with ground beef next time! Burritos are HUGE, I suggest splittin one or be ready for leftovers. $27 for 2 burritos (1wet) and small nachos with filling. If they get their liquor license, this place is going to be slammed. Decor is skimpy, seating is a bit precarious, and their website is a bit misleading, but if you are non-dairy and looking for the So-Co Mexican, this is as close as it gets in NYC.
I get the big picture and I love the big picture. The outdoor garden rocks, the soy rizo is amazing (along with many other vegetarian options) and the staff is EXTREMELY down to earth and friendly. A great place to go day or night.
But...a few complaints for you, Papacito's:
1- About half the time I dine there (and every time i've ordered delivery) the food has been luke warm. When I pay for food that is priced as Papacito's is, I want it to be hot. The second to last time I ate there, my food was brought out luke warm. There should be no excuse for that. I SHOULD have said something as something can't be fixed if management doesn't know it's broken. I don't know why I didn't. I think I was in a meeting and we were in a rush.
2- Why do you use fake cheese on your nachos? So against the rules. And definitely not a fresh ingredient.
Both are little details that have huge impacts on the dining experience and whether one decides to go back or not. I DO plan on going back so I hope these problems get solved :)
me = star.ving.
dc = okay, OMG DO YOU WANT MEXICAN
me = is the space pope reptilian?
it was fine. totally average, americanized mexican.
granted they used corn tortillas, which i support whole heartedly, but i didn't get why my partner in crime is so jacked about this place.
maybe i got the wrong thing. tacos were...well, tacos! the chips and guacamole were off the chain though. maybe i should try something different? i don't know!
not prepared to write this place off, but not going to be running at the speed of light to go back.
One of the best things that ever happend...ever. Go there for lunch during the week and get the $1.50 tacos and taste the food. It is beyond words. Thank God for Papaccito's
4 totally delicious vegetarian burrito/taco filling options?! Four?! You're kidding, right? FOUR?! Right on, brother. Right on.
Not to mention the aforementioned tacos are gigantic (for tacos anyway) and cost $1.50 during happy hour. Best deal in town. While the regular menu may be just a tad above average, price-wise, you can easily fill up on those happy hour tacos for under $7 with tip. Definitely a steal.
Minus one star for service, though. Always friendly, but often very slow. Like 30 minutes for the food to come out slow...with just a couple tables in the restaurant. Come on guys...it's Mexican food. Put that shit in a tortilla and put it in front of me. I got somewhere to be.
All that said, Papacito's is situated exactly half-way between my place in Brooklyn and my girlfriend's place in Queens. Very rarely am I able to make that drive without stopping in. Also, any time work takes me to Greenpoint, that's where we eat lunch. No question.
Oh yeah, and hands down the most delicious salsa in New York. Word up.
I must deter you from ordering their s-storm dinner burrito - but breakfast burritos are a-ok. Stick to the tacos, hombres. Caroline F. is totally on point. edit: I have bumped up my 3.5 stars to 4, but only if you do not veer from the path of tacos & guac.

Papacito's might be my favorite restaurant in all of Brooklyn. I've been coming here for a long time just for the tacos (especially the HALF PRICE tacos during lunchtime) but the new brunch menu makes this place a must. I'm an east coaster, so I can't say I know legit Mexican food, but of the options in NYC this is my favorite.
Everything is reasonable and delicious. Meat and veggie options are both excellent. IMO the wonderfulness of the tacos supersede the burritos by quite a large margin. Although, they're gonna be greasy so grab some extra napkins. Everything I've tried off the brunch menu is badass, especially the vegan tamale. The service is always friendly and quick, and the business is run by the sort of people you want to support.
Everyone I bring, even if they're Californian by birth, is instantly a convert to the church of Papacito's. If you want to be raving about how delicious their tacos are to your friends with a religious fervor, go there immediately.
A delicious peacemaker for carnivorous / vegetarian relationships based on the love of food. Vegan tacos so fantastical, the meat eaters will order as well. Go with a group, talk smack and throw down!
the first time i ordered delivery the dude was at my door in about .37 seconds. with a smile.
the second time it took over an hour and involved the annoying " just calling to check on the status of my order" phone call. but he still had a smile for me.
anyhoo...i love the burrito grande...with pollo (that spanish for chicken...i'm an internationl kinda guy). it's HUGE and has a really fresh, healthy kind of feel while still being delish and constantly inviting me to house it.
brown rice, black beans, cheese, fresh lettuce and jalapenos with really delicious shredded chicken. the GF eats her with hand with it still wrapped in the foil.
i'm civilized and eat it with a fork...i'm well traveled and kind of sophisticated.
i'm sure other things are good here and i've heard brunch is awesome.
titz likes.
Ummmm, BARMP. We went here for brunch one weekend. I got the Portland breakfast burrito, he got the chile rellenos burrito.
Before I review the food, I shall pose this question: If you're going to serve me a massive burrito that requires some fork and knife action, why are you putting it in a basket on a thin little piece of tin foil? The foil gets all wrecked and you're constantly checking your fork to make sure you're not about to swallow foil shavings.
Anyway, My burrito was stuffed with watery scrambled eggs, maybe two or three tater tots, cheese, and some bland salsa. I also felt sick after eating only about half of the burrito, so maybe I DID ingest some foil. The boy gave his meal pretty low marks as well.
It seems like a lot of the reviewers rave about this place, so maybe I'll have to update this review after sampling their menu a little further, but for now, you have not impressed me, Papacito.
Came here last Friday night (around 9:30) for a late dinner and wasn't all that impressed. We were seated outside at a long table next to some strange dudes who talked about boring things. Meh, could have been worse. The menu & prices were really good... I especially liked the variety of meat & veggie options for fillings (such as carnitas, grilled chicken, grilled veggies, seitan, etc) You get to choose your filling in practically every dish... Burritos, tacos, platters, etc. We made our decisions and I ordered the Papacitos Plate with Grilled Veggies for like $9. Not too bad. Then my friend ordered their ginger ail.. They were out of it. Then she ordered a lemonade or something of the like... They were out of that too. She settled for water. Then the waiting began. Ten, twenty, thirty, nearly fourty minutes later (!!!!!) we received our food. During our waiting time, my friend went to the bathroom. They were out of toilet paper. Once our food came (finally), my friend then asked for hot sauce.. Guess what?! They were out of that too!!! Not too sure what all that out-of-it shit was about... Anyway, the portion on my Papacitos Plate was pretty good, but I swear there was sand and/or twigs in it and my beans were kind of cold. The veggies were kind of lacking as well. The flavor was great though so aside from the cold beans and occasional grain of sand, I filled up my delicious tortillas and made myself some dank mini burritos.
I guess I'd come back and give Papacitos another try during a less busy time if I'm in Greenpoint and craving Mexican food, but I'd never make a special trip out to this place.
please god tell me I didnt just pay $9 fckn dollars for a burrito consisting of beans, rice, cheese, and salsa
are you kidding me, this place SUCKS. what a joke. this is barely on a par with yolas(?) on metro at union which is AVERAGE
seriously, i cant believe how badly i got ripped off. this place is simply proof of how crappy mexican is in nyc and how mediocre crap can somehow make a place like this popular.
My extremely carnivorous friend went meatless for a month and raved about the seitan burrito from here, which managed to keep him sane. I thought it was okay. Really heavy on the rice, which I know sounds stupid because, you know, it's a burrito. But trust me: there is a specific bean to rice ratio you need to be working with. The sauce was...strange? It's fine for the neighborhood, but a 15 minute subway ride will get you to Castro's. The veggie burrito there is 2 bucks cheaper and far tastier. I think maybe I just don't like California style Mexican. Please don't throw things at me. It's just that I grew up an 8 hour drive from Mexico.
I am a vegan punk from Los Angeles, California and I live on Mexican food.
In most circles, that statement is pretty good currency to throw down as payment for entering the Burrito Olympics, though lest the credentials of the LA's area's burrito supremacy not suffice, I have also lived in San Francisco, where I also preceded to live on Mexican food - only more exuberantly and perversely. So this is a vegan, California review of a place that seems to be giving a wide-open nod in both of those directions. HELLS YEAH!
This is a positive review. Damn, now these are some tacos.
But let me tell you more. The first time I ever ate at Papacito's was a bust.
I was new to the neighborhood (so where they, I think) and I was pretty excited that a place that so overtly screamed Vegan-Friendly Mexican Food: Attention Gavin Dropdead was 3 blocks from my house. The second thing I noticed, after its stylistic leanings, was that it was pretty overpriced. From where I come from, eight bucks for a burrito is bullsh*t, and it usually signifies that it is for yuppies, which means it will be inauthentic and involve unwelcome embellishments such as pesto. However, I have learned the hard way that $8 is in fact what passes in New York for a cheap lunch, and decided not to let that stand in between me and the Golden Chalice of Greater Burrito-Related Glory, so I ordered one.
Guacamole was extra, which sucked, but that was expected. What was unexpected: it came out wrong, which event involved me clawing cheese out of my mouth in a laundromat up the street. I went back, they were kind of pissed at me and themselves equally for this transgression, and in a few minutes made good and whipped me up a non-cheesy burrito, and it was pretty much 95% rice, accompanied by, and I kid you not, a single shred of broccoli and, further down the line, two slivers of squash the thickness of a quarter. So what I got was a $10 total rice and guacamole pouch, virtually unadorned. Bullshit. I decided that I would never go back.
That, of course, was a lie - I ate there twice more in six months, both in needle-in-the-red, blood-sugar-related episodes. And while they were never as mocking as that first encounter - namely, they had some veggies in there - once they were out of guacamole, which is sort of like an Italian restaurant being out of cheese or a Sabbath record without Tommy Iommi, and the second time it was rolled as loose as a maternity jumpsuit.
These events seemed to solidify my initial impressions, but then, you may have noticed I gave the place four stars, and there is a happy ending coming.
Recently, I returned to Papacito's, and it turns out that I should have ordered the veggie tacos and added rice and guac. HOLY LIVING HELL. Sweet baby Jesus, I am not sure what happened between then and now, but I will tell you straight that these are the best veggie tacos to be had in New York City at any price.
To qualify: Taco Chulo - been there, and they are good, if a little bourgeoisie. Cosmic Cantina - nice that they are organic and so flexible, but the price-gouging is indefensible regardless of produce quality - and I am a chef, I am aware of what things cost and what you need to charge for them to make a buck. Acapulco - a little place up the Manhattan Ave in Greenpoint, who has won my heart pretty much forever with their wonderful Mexican family staff and their rock-bottom prices and absurd generosity, but their tacos were just murdered in cold blood in a back alley by these beasts here at Papacito's. And these three are the best I've found, and I've tried dozens more. Literally there, dozens, I've been at it for six years here.
These are fresh, moist tortillas, glorious flavor, beautifully caramelized red onion, meaty chunks of avocado, ideally proportioned everything, great little flourishes of radish and cilantro, perfectly cooked vegetables and absolutely A+ hot sauce. There was no precedent for these as far as what I've eaten on the East Coast. Taco Chulo is aiming for a similar style, but they are yet more expensive and still do not hit the mark like these do.
I cannot claim that this place has burritos as fantastic - it seems like nowhere in New York can really roll them and get their act together. The chips, also, are stale and chewy. But tacos seem to be closer to the mark, and in this case it is a bullseye. I am sorry I have slammed this place before. These are great tacos, the best out of many on the East Coast.
I will tell you something else: they are half price at lunch. And at that price, you cannot beat this stuff. Not with a stick!! Not with the whole LAPD.
good good good good good tacos.
i had the anjito pork and the carne asada and both were delicious, flavorful, and made me wish i'd ordered a third one as well. with so many options for protein, i'd honestly probably eventually try them all - even the vegan/veg options.
i also had guacamole, which i would put on everything if i could, but was disturbed by the wasted space taken up by the giant pit of the avocado. don't deny me the space for more mashed up avocado lemon juice salt and jalapeno goodness ! but i probably would've picked up the bowl and licked the remains out if i could. good guacamole to me is an indicator to me of how good the food itself will be, and it was on point again in this case. chunky, fresh, and f-ing good. love guacamole forever.
i also had the gingerade which was a total mis-step on my part. i finished it because i ordered it, but it was kind of like drinking a bunch of ginger in soda water - i guess i just wanted more from it - some sweetness, a complimentary flavor? i don't know. oops. should've just ordered the mexican coke (real sugar y'all!)
anyway, this place is on my repeat offenders list for sure based on guacamole alone, but the tacos are definitely right up there.
I am really surprised to see a lot of negative reviews here. I live close by, so I go frequently. The service is always friendly and good, and the vegan burrito is terrific. I kinda stick to the veggie options, so I can't vouch for the rest of the menu.
I think I've finally found a decent Mexican spot in the area. I had no idea this place existed, and stumbled upon it when I was taking a drum lesson around the corner. I've only been here twice, both for simple eats, but I can't wait to try the entree dishes. I had the fish tacos which are made with talapia, and tasty and I've also had the breakfast burrito which I'm a huge fan of.
Update: I went there today and had the chicken burrito for lunch.
Where's the meat????? There were two little chicken chunks and the rest of it was rice and beans. Taste was nothing special. Not worth $8 imo. Loss of 1 star.
3 and a 1/2
Great Service
Great for the price
Comfy low key environment
Fish Tacos were fresh. I just wish it was a little less greasy.
Will come back !
I think I'm being nice with the 2 stars but if you can't take care of the little things, than you have a problem. This was my third time here, why I came back I don't know. I was the only one sitting down at a table, and the waiter never wiped off my filthy table, and I swear the cup of water I was served smelled funny. It can't be the water because the tap water in brooklyn is actually very good. Anyway the food is below average and the service sucks. I was the only person in there and I didn't get my water cup filled once. Maybe it was just the hipster douchebag waiter I had. Other days I've ordered out and had burritos which were once again below average and flavorless. I won't be coming back to this hole.
I gotta tell you, I really didn't want to like this place for reasons of my own. It didn't work.
It's cheap and delicious and while not entirely consistent, it rarely wavers below a 9/10 for me. Neighborhood staple.
Fantastic.
I'm from California so i've had my share of mexican food. I was bored and came here for a quick bite. I ordered the chicken chimichaga and i have to say it was the worst burrito i have ever had. if they tried serving this garbage in Cali, they be out of business quick. The burrito had more rice than chicken. Not to mention, the chicken and rice was extremely bland. The service was too great either. i would not come even if they were giving their food for free. It was that disgusting.
This is going to be short:
1.50 tacos for lunch. Fresh and amazing. Love the fish and seitan tacos. mmmm. They are a good size too - not sure how they make money off them! Good service, too.
