About the Business
Panoy Bistro is the first Lao restaurant in Grass Valley. We specialize in fresh and spicy Lao cuisine from simply beautiful Laos (in tropical South East Asia), a country that won the award of World Best Tourist Destination for 2013! Lao cuisine is known for its freshness and depth of flavor, which is why Panoy Bistro proudly honors the culinary traditions of the Lao by ensuring that not only do we prepare our dishes fresh, but we also give each dish adequate time to fully develop its exotic Lao flavors rather than rush the cooking time at the expense of quality. Our Lao chef spends the extra time and effort to cook each dish from the heart. Even our appetizers including our Lao crispy rolls and spring rolls are freshly cooked order by order rather than using a heat lamp because we want to preserve the freshness of Lao foods. When dining at Panoy Bistro, your patience will be rewarded when you take that first bite as you will notice the difference in taste and quality of Lao cuisine. Our spice levels: WESTERN mild, medium, hot, or LAO HOT (1-5 STARS!) NOTE: We only serve Lao cuisine/Lao food here at Panoy Bistro as we are a Lao restaurant. We do not offer other Asian cuisines.

I can't believe we only found this gem last year, after living so close to it for so long!
The food is absolutely top-shelf. The ingredients are fresh (many of the herbs and such are grown right there) and bursting with flavor. The food is never oily or heavy, and we always feel so *healthy* after finishing our meals there.
The waitstaff is incredibly friendly and personable, even on a busy night.
We are now going practically every. week, and I've yet to have any item on the menu that wasn't an absolute DELIGHT.

Waited a very long time for the server to approach the table like 20 minutes, but people be patient! Like 5 tables had sat at once. Your patience will pay off. Everything is so fresh and delicious. Wish I could remember everything we ordered but like 5 dishes. Also server hilarious.

Wonderful service, food is the best next thing to homeland of Laos and Thai foods. You must visit if you are in the area. Place is very nice decors and outside seating is a must when there's good weather.

This is a sweet little family run Asian bistro on the edge of Grass Valley California off Highway 174, that has incredible Laotian food that I haven't found anywhere else in the country. They have a great grill, fantastic Curries the fresh rolls are outstanding, and for a dollar more you can get an extra two pieces, I always suggest ordering an extra side of peanut sauce for $2. The chicken satay salad is one of my favs for a somewhat light bite. Everything's great, give it a try. An extra perk is the bar attached to the restaurant, that has very full glasses of wine for six dollars for white, eight dollars for red. They also have beers for I think five dollars. The bar is cash only but the restaurant takes most forms of payment and has beer as well.

Excellant fresh food! Enjoyed the eggplant curry and the red curry "stew" great flavors! Only 4 stars because the plate given me was damaged and the server didn't notice but they made it right before the food attived.

Authentic and simple atmosphere. Unique location flavors and quality ingredients stand kut amidst similar southeast Asian cuisine. Try the tilapia special, I am not a fish guy but the sauce is amazing.

A friend told me about this place, so we were anticipating a delicious meal! We started with the lettuce wraps, which had good flavor! We also got the Tom kha soup which was exceptionally delicious! And we really enjoyed the ginger curry tofu (yum!!) being vegan at restaurants today is becoming easier and easier -- thank you Panoy Bistro for a delicious experience. We also ate outside and the service was prompt and courteous. Again, there was a good amount of space inside, but we are "outside eaters." Hope to go back in the near future!
