Panino is a knock out sandwich shop! Located right on Grand Avenue in Los Olivos, Panino is the perfect place to munch on gourmet sandwiches during your lunch away from wine tasting. The shop itself is located on a corner, and is tiny inside, but is accompanied by ample outdoor seating. We sat outside and enjoyed the nice day.

The everyone seems to know about Panino - either from Yelp or from recommendations from locals - so expect a fairly long line at the counter. The line moves quickly tough because the workers zip right though each order. They have several lovely creations, with ingredients like goat cheese, sundried tomatos, prosciutto, the list goes on and on. They have plenty of vegitarian options, as well as soups and salads. I had the prosciutto and mozzarella sandwich, and it was divine! All four of us really enjoyed our sandwiches, and will definitely return upon our next wine tasting trip.

Cute cute cute.....little deli. Did I mention it was cute?

Outdoor seating only but we were able to get a table in the shade (it was 80 this last weekend).

I ordered the chicken and prosciutto pesto sandwich and it was VERY good. My sister ordered the tomato, buffalo mozzarella and basil sandwich which she enjoyed.

Fast, friends service. Would come here again if I was in town.

Great sandwich place in the heart of town. We stopped because we read the great Yelp reviews and we ended up coming back the next day too.

I had the curried chicken salad on wheat. Loved that the chicken salad wasn't coated in mayo. It seemed lighter and fresher than so many preparations. I did not enjoy the wheat bread though. The next day I had the turkey and Brie on foccacia. I really wanted to only eat half....ha, that didn't happen!

My husband had the one with salami, roasted tomatoes and goat cheese. It was so flavorful and delicious. The next day he had the chicken with pesto which he described as "jammin.". Enough said on that.

It's a great quick and fresh lunch in between lots of wine drinking.

Awesome!  I had a half sandwich of mozzarella, tomato and prosciutto on focaccia that blew me away, coupled with a good sized mug of their artichoke bisque that was so good I contemplated shopping for real estate nearby so I could get this soup regularly. My wife had an equally fabulous chicken and pesto sort of sandwich and a beautiful salad.
They offer these half sandwich and soup or salad combos that are generous portions and extremely tasty.  Cute place, outdoor seating. Would be a good place to stock up on sandwiches and etc for a picnic.
We will definitely make this a stop next time our travels take us back that way.

SOOOOooOOooOOO F'n Good!  This place makes me so happy--I start getting giddy when we get near Los Olivos--'cos I know a delicious panino sandwich awaits me.

As a veg, this place is a sight for sore eyes!  They have like 8 different veg options on the menu.

My fave is the mixed veggie and I add avocado!  The Black & White is kick-ass too!

Get some sea salt and vinegar chips, an iced tea, and you're all set.
Too packed in the patio? Walk across the street to Coquelicot and sit in their gorgeous patio with a bottle of their Rose---HEAVEN.

Now, if only panino sold some VEGAN cupcakes....!!!

I think I got a dud sandwich because I thought this place was just OK. For me, a good sandwich is all about the bread and the bread here was old. It also overwhelmed to the point where I didn't know know if there was any meat in there. All I tasted was old bread. I would have been better off just getting some fresh bread, meats, and cheese at the store and just made my own. At least that would have tasted like something.

This is my go-to spot when I decide randomly to head up to Los Olivos for an afternoon of wine tasting...I mean, you can't imbibe at more than one or two wineries or tasting rooms lest you fill you're little belly with some grub for absorption!

Panino has THE best assortment of sammies and salads to choose from but since i'm gluten intolerant, I always tend to grab one of the salads and a bag of chips (go the regular salted ones if you're GF as you can use them as "tasting chips" when you go to the next winery!). My fave salad is the chicken curry....quite delicious and they give you a pretty decent amount atop lettuce....and it comes in a box which is GREAT if you want to eat in the car on your way to the next vineyard!

Reasonable prices, great choices...oh, and if you need to pee in between food and wine, it's right across the street in a shockingly nice port-a-potty so save the time of asking the peeps of Panino and just head on over!

I am going to confirm that is is not a fluke by eating here again and if its as good as the first time, which I think it will, then it will rightfully get 5 stars from me.

I was riding with a bike club leaving from Solvang that brought me to Panino. This ride later turn ou to be one of my favorite bike rides ever; it was also, my first time  visiting the little town of Los Olivos and Panino. Before the ride, I never heard Panino, but I will never forget it.
    .
The town is tiny like I said, and far from any thing besides wineries, but there was still a line.... So I thought to myself, this place has got to be good, or just the only place to get food in town.  It turned out to be more than good and, most of the people in line where repeat out of town customers that went out of their way to come here.

Everything about the place was great, the décor, the selection of sandwiches, the helpful service, flavor, fresh ingredients, and the location. Panino is place small, with little indoor seating mostly out door seating. Los Olivos is cute town in a beautiful part of the country, and you will not want to be out side (unless it's raining of course).

I got the Italian sandwich because someone recommended it that worked there, I would recommend this to every one else. The Italian sandwich like all other sandwiches or salads at Panino will set you back about $9.
I will definitely go back and hopefully take the wif there someday.

I later found out there is a few other locations in Santa Barbra, Montecito and Solvang.

By far my favorite sandwich shop!  I get excited when the vineyard I am a member of has my shipment of wine to pick up because that means I get to stop by here and have an amazing lunch.

Every sandwich I have had has been amazing.  The honey mustard they use makes the sandwich sing in my mouth.  I am always bringing friends here and they never leave disappointed.  Came by yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed my mixed veggie sandwich that consisted of honey mustard, artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, bell peppers, cucumbers, red onion, and other tasty goodness all on their wheat bread.  The ciabatta is really good too but with veggies, I prefer wheat.

They offer a large selection of sandwiches (about 30 I believe) as well as salads and a couple soups.  The service is great and it is never too busy.  The town is cute too.

Definitely worth visiting when you are in the area.  I like to pick up a sandwich and enjoy it at a local vineyard with my wine.

Great location in the charming town of Los Olivos. We always stop at panino here or in Solvang for lunch during our central coast wine tasting trips. Lots of vegetarian options. The harvest salad, goat cheese salad. greek salad, english stilton sandwich, mixed veggie sandwich are all so fresh and yummmmm! We also like to pack it and have a picnic lunch at one of the vineyards in the area with a glass of Reiseling. Reasonable prices for a touristy location.

    Only negatives:
    1. They don't accept AMEX.
    2. Not enough seats and umbrellas (esp when it gets crowded in the summers).
    3. Staff can be somewhat rude and unfriendly at times (don't blame them-it does get very crowded at times).
    4. May take a long time to get the order-need more efficient/more number of staff.

What a great sandwich spot in the middle of a lovely town! Do some wine tasting at Evan's Ranch and craft beer tasting at Bin 2860 at Fess Parker Hotel, and then have a sandwich from Panino on their outdoor patio.

I am dreaming about The Italian Combo sandwich right now. It's STACKED with fresh ingredients! It comes with Prosciutto, Genoa Salami, & Imported Provolone, Cheese with Mayo and Balsamic Vinegar, topped off with Greens, Tomato, Green Bell Pepper, Cucumber, Red Onion & Fresh Basil.

Get it with focaccia bread and sub the mayo with oil. They have a brown bag special, where you can do half the sammich with a cup of soup. Their Italian Wedding soup is amazing.

If you like chicken, get the #12 Roast Chicken w/Pesto, Pine Nuts, Feta Cheese & Sun-Dried Tomatoes and Mixed Greens. It's also very tasty, but a little on the dry side.

They've also got four other locations throughout Santa Barbara County, including Solvang. There can be a long line to order at all hours of the day, but the food comes out relatively quick.

**BEST LUNCH SPOT IN LOS OLIVOS**

Great lunch spot in Los Olivos without the fuss or frills. Got in line (waited 5 min) and ordered the turkey and brie on focaccia bread and the roast beef on the same.

But the winner was definitely the Italian combo on focaccia. The fresh and flavorful Italian meats were amazing.

The Italian Wedding Soup was the best. Darn good in every way with the mini meatballs.

There is seating outside but be forewarned: no bathroom.

    HIGHLY RECOMMEND for lunch.

No wine-tasting trip to Santa Ynez Valley is the same without stopping for lunch at Panino.

Nestled on a side street in downtown Los Olivos, Panino is not much more than a few outdoor chairs/tables, a few inside, and a deli counter. The menu is chock full of sandwiches and written on a board.

My favorites (because I have trouble picking just one)...
    - English Stilton with Asian Pear
    - Curried Chicken Salad
    - Roast Chicken with sun-dried tomato, basil, and provolone
    - Proscuitto with fresh mozzarella and fresh basil

Seriously, how can you go wrong? Even the bread is fantastic.

Have a dog with you? No problem. Dogs love the sandwich scraps and the patio is dog friendly.

Fresh ingredients, properly paired flavors, and a casual wine country ambiance, stop by Panino in between tastings, sit outside, and drink in the sunshine.

So you're in Los Olivos, and you're tired of looking at questionable art, you're not interested in woman's boutiques and you don't need any over-priced antiques, and frankly your palette is just over worked from the Roussanne, Viognier Grenache blends you've been quaffing all morning.
What you need is a sandwich. A fancy solid tasty sandwich.

Order by number and pick your bread. Take your number and sit outside.
The options are pretty standard fancy sandwich type place options. Turkeys, Hams, Chickens, Salumi, I had the cobb sandwich which involved avocado, prosciutto and turkey.
Sit outside on the patio, and enjoy "small town" ridiculousness.

This was my go-to lunch place when I worked at one of the wineries near Los Olivos. I could phone my order in and always expect it to be perfect each time. The staff was always friendly and the place was always packed with locals and tourists alike.

My all time favorite is the curried chicken salad either in salad form or sandwich form. I can't think of a salad I'd rather have more than that one. There is a reason it is one of their most popular orders. Nice tid-bit about Panino is that they can make any salad into a sandwich for you. They are very accommodating so feel free to get creative! I've had many of the other sandwiches as well and loved everyone of them. The flavor combos are to die for! The bread, ohhhh so fresh, so tasty! I've delved into their soup offerings a few times in the winter and was not disappointed in any way! The pasta fagioli tasted like my Italian family's recipe (maybe even a tad more flavorful but keep that on the dl). Simply put- the food here is fantastic!

If you choose to stay and eat you may find that there isn't much room for you because Panino is almost always full in the on-season. Nevertheless, you can usually wait a few minutes for someone to leave and snag a nice table outside with a shade umbrella and room for a pooch. Panino is set right smack dab in the middle of little Los Olivos next to the flag pole. Parking is usually found along the street without too many problems. Bathrooms are suped-up outhouses across the street for many of the businesses in that little area.

Rather than stay, I would recommend that you take your Panino lunch to a winery for an enjoyable experience. Many of the wineries right outside of Los Olivos have beautiful settings with tables outside i.e. Lincourt, Beckman, Roblar, Bridlewood, Brander, Rideu (notice Blackjack was NOT on that list). Order up a bottle of the coldest crisp dry rose the winery offers and have yourself a downright memorable lunch! As long as you bring them back, the wineries usually have no problems in loaning you glasses.

This 5 star rating is based on an establishment doing what it's supposed to do, perfectly. If you want incredible sandwich, salad, and soup combinations with only the freshest and high quality ingredients, then this is the place for you!

    Awesome place.

I had the roast beef & horse radish cheddar and was blown away.

All the bread is artisan made and the portions are not massive, but enough to fill you up and leave a smile on your face.

This is a hot spot for the cyclist community and there is usually a line of 4-5.

The outdoor seating is really nice and makes for a very fun 1/2 break from wine tasting.

Not a bad cafe when you happen to be in the rustic town of Los Olivos.

I took a detour driving back from LA to lunch with a friend who lives in Los Olivos.  We settled on this cafe.

Its very simple, cute with plenty of outdoor seating, some with umbrellas to shade you from the sun.  Sandwiches and salads here are good, but a tad pricey.  $12 for a salad (no meat, if it matters) and a drink?  Hmmm.  But your choices are few if you are wine tasting here.  Service was fine and fast.  If I'm in the area I won't be opposed to eating here again, but its nothing special or anything to write home about.

After four wineries in a row we decided it was probably for the best to put some food in our bellies (we are smart drinkers) so we headed toward Los Olivos as it was on the way to even more wineries.

The deli itself is a pretty small storefront with a few high-top tables and outside seating in the form of shaded patio tables. Since it was such a gorgeous day we opted for outside after we placed our order.

Basically this place has sandwiches and salads and most of the salads come in sandwich form. I opted for the #30 - English Stilton w/Asian Pear on Sourdough Bread. My friend got the #26 - Black and White Panino which has olive tapenade, mozzarella and basil.  All the ingredients were super fresh including the bread and I devoured my sandwich faster than I could breathe -- these sandwiches were the perfect meal - filling, but not overly so.  I did manage to sneak in a bite of my friend's sandwich and his was just as good as mine. It was almost like they make the sandwiches with specific ingredients in mind as a perfect match to any wine you may have bought along the way.

This is a must-stop on your wine tour, I know I'll be going back (already craving my #30 again...)

NOM NOM NOM  That was me annihilating my Italian Combo sandwich.  Proscuitto, Genoa Salami, imported Provolone on a baguette that has been drizzled with balsamic vinegar and has a very light layer of mayo.  To top it off it had tomatoes, leafy greens, green bell peppers, cucumbers, red onions and, la pièce de résistance, fresh basil.   Everything in this sandwich was so fresh that my stomach is still wondering where the preservatives are.

There are 5 different locations to serve you and it's a family run business.  If you are in the mood for a sandwich or a salad they will have something that you will like.  They also have a vegetarian menu to feed "those people."  :P

    mmmmmmmm Panino.....

These tasty little toasty sandwiches are what sweet gourmet sandwich dreams are made of. Yeah that's right, I have gourmet sandwich dreams, like all the time. Doesn't everyone? OK, so maybe I'm a teensy bit hyperbolic here but still, trust me these sammys are delicious!

The series of chalkboards on which the menu is written can be overwhelming at first but take comfort in the fact that every sandwich I've ever tried here has been fantastic! This is a usual pre-wine tasting stop for my friend and I on our way into the SYV and I try to get something different every time. From the prosciutto with fresh mozzarella and roasted red peppers, to the panino cobb sandwich complete with stinky stinky yummy stilton cheese I have never been let down. Even the curried chicken salad sandwich which didn't sound so good to me at the offset was delicious. The outdoor seating can get crowded but pull on up to a butcher block and start off your wine country day right. After all, don't you want to inspire some sweet gourmet sandwich dreams of your own?

Did the cloud climbers tour about a year ago and am still thinking about the sandwiches.  So on our latest wine tasting romp the girlfriend and I tried finding Panino on our own.  We ended up lost and did a U-turn at the Ballard Inn and somehow found our way to the Buttonwood Vineyard, the first place we ever did a wine tasting.  After discovering their semillon a crew of cloud climbers rolled on in and I cornered the guy until he gave up the details.  (It was the second right not the first right apparently...)

Anyway, Panino has some great panini's for $8.50ish a pop.  I've had the italian combo, chicken breast with pesto, tomatoes, and prosciutto, and apparently the curry chix sandwich is really good as well.  Great lunch spot during a wine tasting excursion.

This place is nothing fancy.  They have a lot of sandwiches to choose from but don't have a toaster for toasting bread - strange that they call themselves Panino with no toaster.  However, we both enjoyed our sandwiches - chicken curry & artichoke.

The prices are reasonable.  The only drawback is there is really no place to sit...tables outside are always pretty full and there is often a line out the door to place an order.  Other drawback, they don't have fountain sodas...only cans.

The sandwiches are super delicious- unique and fresh. This is a great stop to pick up lunch for wine tasting visit.

YUM! I had the most delicious vegan sandwich here. #27 Mixed Veggie Sandwich: marinated sun-dried tomatoes, roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts, and fresh basil topped with green bell pepper, red onion, honey mustard (if you're a honey-free/strict vegan I'm sure you can substitute regular mustard), organic greens and fresh ground pepper on just-baked foccacia (more like ciabatta, really). The ingredients are so fresh and flavorful.

The rustic outside seating at this location is beautiful. You can sit at the corner of the intersection, absorb some Vitamin D, and people watch to your heart's delight. It was such a treat enjoying lunch here with my wonderful husband.

I just wish we had Panino up in Northern California!

So amazing.  Very fresh ingredients are used in their sandwiches and salads.  And there are a lot of options... I had a really hard time deciding what to eat.  They also serve wine, which was a fun way to kick off the wine tasting day.  The store is really small, so I don't know if this would work out if you had a large group, though there is a patio area to sit on (no alcohol allowed there.)

I can't wait to come again!

The only thing keeping this place from getting 5 stars is the rude bus boy type guy....
    Besides that,
Everything else was wonderful.  The food was phenomenal, although I only tried one sandwich and one salad out of many. It was crisp and clean and refreshing.  I did happen to go with 4 people though and they were amazed too.  I got the Mixed Veggie Sandwich Box lunch that came with a salad that had cranberries in it.  It was really great...   It worked out perfect because we were just driving by and I saw that it was packed so we stopped in for a sandwich delight :)

If you're in need of a delicious deli sandwich with ridiculously fresh ingredients, this is the right place.

Nestled on a corner in Los Olivos, it's just as cute as the 17 tasting rooms on the main street.

Small indoor seating area, but there's also outdoor seating which is the way to go in California.

They do have some local beers, which I very much appreciated, though regretted the next morning since I already had a rather obscene amount of wine in my stomach.

I got a sandwich that consisted of beautiful leafy green lettuce, proscuitto, tomato, and buffalo mozzarella... and it rocked my world.

    Big fan.

Amazing sandwiches and also willing to leave things off.  Plus, they have chips and giant bottles of water for when you are trying to recover from wine tasting.  Seriously, the only problem was that it was hard to pick just one sandwich.

Great sandwich spot when you're out wine tasting in Los Olivos.  They have 30 different sandwiches.  Tried the Panino Cobb Sandwich with Chicken Breast, Avocado, Prosciutto, Stilton, Tomato and Basil on Wheat.  It's hard to review a sandwich, but this one was good and everything tasted fresh.  The soup du jour was a creamy asparagus soup and that was tasty too without that overly greasy feel from the heavy cream.  The line averaged about five people and the food comes out five minutes after they give you your number.  So good, fresh made to order food and lots of wineries nearby!  Carina is just next door and they're one of my faves.

Unique combinations and fresh ingedients in all of their sandwiches.  It can get busy on the weekends and seating can be tough but not impossible.  I sometimes call ahead and have them get it ready for me to go, you can find an empty picnic table at most of the wineries.

This is a MUST when in Los Olivos! We usually pick up food and have a picnic at a winery. The Curried Chicken Salad Salad is delicious! We've also tried their sandwiches and they are YUMMY! They have delicious kettle chips to go with your meal! Not sure why the website isn't on here, so here you go: http://paninorestauran.../

Wow! Excellent sandwiches. Great for a lunch snack before, after or during your winery treks.

Very cute counter cafe. They have several menu boards posted with very delicious sandwiches and salads. Its low key, food is tasty, and the staff is friendly. A great lunch spot or a break from tasting wine.

Other than this purveyor of delicious, healthy, $8+ sandwiches, where else in SYV can you develop an affinity for a sandwich number (mine's #12 sliced chicken on foccacia with pesto, mayo, sun dried tomatoes, feta and chopped lettuce)?
