We had dinner at Panera last night. I am a great big fan of Panera. I always have great service and normally have great, tasty and hot food.
There were 3 of us last night. I will say for the first time, I was not a fan of my most favorite soup: CREAM of Chicken and Wild Rice, it was more like chicken noodle with rice, VERY watery. No flavor. So I was not a fan of that, but I didn't speak up either. Hey, it was the first time in like 6 years that I had soup I didn't love there... can't be perfect all the time!
Tavarus normally works during the day, he always has a great big smile and makes others feel great. Good job!!! -

A long time ago when I first heard about this place, I thought it was called Pantera Bread, like the 90s metal band. Needless to say, I was severely disappointed that there wasn't a letter T between the N and the E, and that they didn't serve Cowboys From Hell Clam Chowder in a bread bowl or Far Beyond Driven French Onion soup.
Despite that rocky beginning and due in large part to the fact that I've spent a good part of my adult life in graduate school, Panera and I are familiar with each other. The free coffee refills and WiFi make me super productive, but I always seem to get less done around lunch time because it can get crowded and noisy and the smell of the elderly creeps in like sour milk fog. -

If you're looking for a decent, quick, and possibly healthy lunch, this is your place.
Panera has several vegetarian options, with my favorite being the Mediterranean Veggie Sandwich. It has feta cheese, wheat bread, some sort of yummy spread, onions (if you want them), and a couple of other things I can't think of off the top of my head.
To make this a healthy option, get a half sandwich with vegetable soup and an apple. The only detractors at Panera are 1) it's a little pricey (but worth it), and 2) It's just so damned hard to resist some of those fattening options! -

Regardless of being a little on the expensive side for the amount you get, their sandwiches are pretty good. A lot of people probably go the route of 1/2 sandwich + 1/2 soup or 1/2 sandwich + 1/2 salad for under 10 bucks. Although a chain, this is probably the nice alternative to subway.

reasons why i love studying at panera and you should too:
- free wi-fi to keep you sufficiently distracted
- all the free refills of yummy hazelnut coffee that you can handle in one sitting
- comfy booths
- tons of outlets to keep your crappy laptop battery energized
- you can answer your phone and speak as obnoxiously loud as you want
- there is that one perfect booth in the corner where you can keep an eye on all the hotties that walk in
- you can strategically plan to refill your coffee when that hottie finally leaves his gf to get his own refill, show a little cleavage when putting cream in your coffee, slip a little smile, and make sure you have his full attention on your ass as you walk away ;)
