Went along for lunch on a Monday. Ordered the ground beef and shredded beef taco's that are $1 on a Monday. Both were excellent and very generous fillings. The salsa bar in a nice touch with lots of fresh ingredients.
Only reason this place does not get 5 stars is we also ordered chips and Queso. The Queso was great but the chips were very greasy.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Neal P.Indianapolis, IN94528571Sep 6, 2011
I had some great chicken breast (pechuga de pollo, a la plancha). Seasoned just right, I didn't need to add any salsa, cooked in green peppers, tomato slices and onions. They have a great salsa bar. My entree came with standard refried beans and rice, which were good.
Order and pay at the counter. They call your number.
Very clean, including the men's room. Seems to cater to both Hispanic and Gringos (gueros).
Self-serve fountain drinks. Lots of beer signage. Two TV's in dining area.
Same owners (and same web site) as the Pancho's at 9658 Allisonville Road in Fishers.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Diane E.Bellingham, WA328111339Jul 14, 2011Updated review
After attending a celtic music concert at Eagle Creek last night, my friend and I were hungry and really couldn't decide where to go at 8:30 p.m. other than Broad Ripple -- but really didn't want to deal with the crowds and wait time.
I remembered Pancho's Taqueria and made the suggestion. We arrived 10 minutes before closing -- can't say that I blame this establishment for closing so early in this area of Indy during the week -- but lickity split, we had our carnitas burritos and we hit the road. Ate half last night and looking forward to the other half today for lunch.
This is a little hole-in-the-wall type of place, but perusing their menu has made me want to go there and actually dine in and try some of their 'la diabla' dishes :-)
I love their authentic Mexican food. And Mondays, tacos are $1. Tuesdays, kids eat free (remind me to not go there on a Tuesday -ha!)
I'll be back...again!!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Nov 19, 2010Previous reviewAfter volunteering at the Indy Humane Society last night, I was hankering for some Mexican food. I haven't really found 'THE' Mexican food place since I moved from California.
I ordered chips with chile con queso and the Carnitas to go. OMG! The smell of the food as I was driving home almost drove me crazy. The Carnitas came with a small salad, rice and beans.
Next time, I want to dine in to experience their food while it is hot and not out of a styrofoam box :-)
I'll definitely be back. This area of Indianapolis appears to have a lot of hispanic businesses. I have no doubt that I will try many of their restaurants since I am there once a week to volunteer at the Humane Society. - Victor G.Indianapolis, IN1934117Dec 11, 2008First to Review
Pancho's is the most authentic Mexican food I have ever eaten, and while that isn't saying much since I am no Latin food expert it is still good food. Their chips are fabulous, the queso is amazing, and the homemade salsas are divine. If you want something different than the "typical" Americanized Mexican food this is a great place to try. I like the Big Burrito (but you gotta add cheese to it) and my wife loves their Enchiladas. It did take us a couple of tries to find it though. It is nestled back aways from the road, so happy hunting!
