We're regulars here!
The food isn't the absolute best you'll find, but it's good. The hot sauce is different, perhaps an acquired taste as there is quite a bit of pepper in comparison to other sauces.
I get the Chicken Fajita Pancho & Lefty's Nachos usually and they are great! Great flavor and very large portions.
Reviewers are right.... the margaritas are strong. The tequila is probably a cheap one, but they taste good nonethless. Feeling daring? Get it on the rocks instead of frozen. :)
They recently moved down the road from their old Dairy Queen location at 66/Kirby. The new location is more inviting and cleaner.... though decor is still lacking a bit.
I take all my friends here and everyone always likes it! On Friday evenings they often have live music as well.
Love this place! -

worst place ever! it says a lot about a place when your order food and they cant even find a single knife in the place so that you can eat your food and 3 different glasses before you can have a clean one to drink out of , and that's when i should have walked away but i decided to cut in to my food and be grossed out it was full of grease and chicken that looked like it had been around a good long while my friend tried to order a vegetarian burrito and the waitress couldn't get the concept through her head that he didn't want meat in his food and sure enough it came with ground beef loaded in it. to say the least it was disappointing and not some place i will ever revisit

If you get a drink for each hand...hold on to your ass..cause they are strong..

This is our go-to local spot for Mexican food! You can't go wrong with the prices, the fajitas ($8.99 dinner), the margaritas ($3-$4), Coronas ($2), the live music on weekend nights, and a good local crowd. The new location (off of 66/Amesbury, near Albertson's) is not as centralized as the older location, but the restaurant does have it's loyal customers. The new location is much cleaner and updated, seats more people, has live music inside, but does lack an outside patio.

Just moved into a new location that's one block south of Dalrock...nicer venue, but we miss the "older" establishment! They always have a nice waitstaff and the food is always out pretty quick. If you're looking for cheap/quick meal then P & L's is your place!

Decent place. I always get the fajitas. Fairly cheap at lunch. Sometimes the place smells like a clogged toilet. They have moved since.

Yes the margaritas are strong, due to the cheap tequila, and the prices are cheap. but the food is horrid.
Not only do we add grease to things just for fun, but they also see how many (cheap) ingredients they can get into one dish.
The one upside is that as a future ER physician, I know they will keep me busy. -

Awesome place... food is OK.. but the $2 margs rule... just a nice local converted DQ kind of place...
Some domestic beers.. and the tub'o margs... -

Poncho and Lefty's is really a dump. But, somehow it works. I don't know why, but we keep going back despite the broken down booth cushions and cramped seating. In all honesty, I would normally pass on a place like this
But, it's wildly popular. Maybe because the Tex-Mex is good, and cheap, and service is lightning fast even when the place is packed.
The food is oh, so typical Tex-Mex. There's absolutely nothing original here. It's an old Dairy Queen, but the owners obviously just took the restaurant as-is and started cooking.
I usually get beef or chicken enchiladas. They come with the standard rice and refried beans. The food is cheap. The margaritas are cheap.
You should try it. Really. Don't expect great food. But I'll bet you'll still enjoy it. -

location in heath = complete failure.
disgusting food. unimaginative menu. bad service.
as George E. noted before, the place is a real dump. i just didn't know the food would taste like dump too. that is literally what my bean taco looked like, though i'm not entirely convinced an actual place of feces would have tasted worse.
never going back. it's a shame that Mimo's closed, as this failure pales in comparison. -

Such a dump. I would go back if they would spend a little money on the facilities. Not until a remodel though....

I haven't been to this specific pancho and lefty's but the one in richardson. It is always a favorite for comfort food. They have good thin chips and good salsa and great prices. the margaritas are cheap and powerful and the food is good. I suggest the carne asada. it comes out covered in grilled onions -- good stuff.
