5 reviews for Pancake Haus
$30 for rewarmed meats, some "texas-style" french toast and a couple pancakes? fer real?
in a tourism driven town it's easy to see why a place like this stays in business, people just don't know better. by the time you'll be back, you'll have forgotten all about your stale coffee and your wonderbread french toast that you had years ago and you'll have to relive your pancake haus experience all over again. save your stomach and your wallet!
There is NOTHING German about Pancake Haus.
WIth that said - the food was pretty average. I had the $9 eggs benedict and it was nothing amazing but also not bad.
It's right on the main street in Moab so it's a pretty convenient location.
So I drug my family away from a perfectly nice Denny's and up the street to this place because I found it odd that a Super 8 (with a Denny's in the parking lot) would recommend this place instead (especially since it is run by a different motel (Ramada).
They started digging their hole when we walked in and found that there was a wait, not because it was busy, but because no one was bussing tables.
Finally they got a table cleared for us, but not before several groups left in disgust.
The wait staff seemed confused, they managed to get our order correct, but we seemed to be the only ones in the place from listening to the waitress apologize to everyone at the other tables around us.
The kitchen staff tried to make up for this by treating us to their accompaniment of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon album at a quite loud volume.
The food was ok, on a par with Denny's, although I think the pancakes were a bit larger then the normal Denny's ones.
With all of the glowing recommendations I had going here, I must assume that maybe the manager took the morning off?
Pancake Haus is just okay. Despite the "Haus" in the name, there's nothing vaguely German about this place, serving slightly overpriced traditional American-style breakfast: about $40 for two adults, two kids. More forgettable, then memorable. Still, the tables were all full on a Sunday morning which tells me it's about the only game in town (we didn't look too hard) or it's the best (gads).
I stopped on name alone. Overall I tend to be critical of breakfast places since my family owns a diner in Pittsburgh. This place wasn't too bad at all, really. I feel kinda jipped, I didn't get any Pink Floyd;( The pancakes & bacon were good, but a little overpriced. I think my whole meal was 12 bux, with milk(-1). Coffee drinkers will get off easier. My visit was early on a Thursday and I was seated right away. The word Haus has a German connotation, so of course, I got a little chuckle when I walked in and there was an Asian hostess. I'm funny like that.
