I really don't care too much for this library. Its small and the findings are limited - very limited. With all the money floating around in Palo Alto you would think this library would've expanded into the state of the art type of library - not so.

Very nice library. Great place to work from away from the office. There are lots of tables, lots of power outlets and free WIFI.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

OK, I guess I am a closet librarian at heart. And I want to shush people who talk REALLLY REALLLLY LOUD in a library, and feel the need to share their cell phone ring tone (and all their dirty laundry) with EVERYONE.

Especially here, in this blissful little space, where the books line the shelves, they have DVDs galore, and internet is free, and the librarians are oh so helpful.

I love trolling the "What's new" section, and picking up great mysteries and non-fiction...  I like to sit in the aisles and browse the shelves, especially all the art books and graphic novels (they have a lot!) And they have tons of online resources (a little known fact). Now, if they could only keep their computer books up to date, it would all be perfect.

Everyone quiet down, ok?

This is a fantastic library with a great Internet catalog. It also has millions (perhaps I exaggerate for effect) of movies--bye bye, Netflix and Amazon.

Love this library, and adore the staff. Many of them have been there a long time, and they really care about doing their jobs well. When I come into great wealth (yup, still clinging to that pipe dream), the Palo Alto Library will receive my first charitable endowment.

When my sister and I were growing up, whenever we would come home with shiny new books, and my dad would say, "Why don't you just go to the library?"  Our response?  "Whatever, Dad."

Well, I guess I am coming around.

Whenever I hear about a new book that I want to read, I go to www.cityofpaloalto.org... and request it.  If it is not available, you can reserve it, and you will receive an email when it comes in.  They place it on a special shelf for you, so you don't even have to rifle through the stacks for it.

You get one month to read the book and 2 one month renewals (unless some other pesky cardholder reserves the book before you get online to renew it).   That 's usually enough time to finish a book  (or enough time to decide that  I should just purchase the darn thing.)

Enormous selection of books, decent supply of movies, and free wireless/printing.   Hooray for Palo Alto Public Libraries!

Easy access off Embarcadero, free wireless, laptop rental available, and free printing--5 pages/day-- if you have a library card!

Generally quiet and a good place to study.  They only have a few study spaces that are isolated; most of the tables are in a large central common area, but the patrons are quiet and respectful and I've been able to study there well.
