Same as across the street, just slightly newer decor. I think it's good, just 3.5 good, and as I said in my review of the other Palm - relaxed, casual and have a good meal but there are now some higher end steak places that are justifiably raising the bar for quality, taste and service...

Good place but again, what's the big deal? The steak wasn't THAT great.
I guess it's the history of the place that holds the allure.
Service was good and decor was cool.

My weakness is meat, I love eating here! I like to start with a slightly dirty martini and jumbo shrimp cocktail. I'm from Texas and let me tell ya'll, this is the largest shrimp I have ever seen! For my entree, a 9 ounce filet cooked to perfection (medium is how I love it), creamed spinach and hash browns. YUM. My mouth is watering, just thinking about it. Of course we always get a bottle (or two) of Cabernet. My parents are members of the 837 Club so we usually get a lobster for free or palm dollars to spend. No really, twist my arm to go back again and again!

You gotta love a restaurant with a signed photograph of Yanni on the wall. From the dim lights to the comical caricatures on the wall to the tan aprons the waitstaff wears, this place has old school written all over it. I really have nothing bad to say about Palm except that my steak was under-cooked once (i like it medium). Go with the 18 oz. NY strip, can't go wrong. I like to side it with some mashed potatoes and spinach; occasionally I go with the fried asparagus. My girlfriend likes the crab cakes. Me likey.

Grease attack! Everything here can kill you...but at least it tastes good. Not the best steak I've had, but it was indeed juicy. But I don't like their salads. Actually, I don't like salads in general, so I really can't tell you whether the salad was good or bad. I had the steak with onion rings- YUM! Onion rings were soft and crunchy and oily and it was great.
Steak houses are easy to come by, especially in NYC but to step in to an old world traditional steak house, with waiters who have been there since it opened is a treat. The waiters are friendly and high spirited, and the food is excellent. The meats are all juicy, and the traditional sides are out of this world. Definitely get the Gigi salad and the "half and half" which is half fries half onion rings. Yummy!
OK, I hate to rag on any restaurant, but I've dined here twice recently and both experiences were absolute disappointments. I don't understand. It appears its lost its "magic" touch, I need to find a new charming steak house.
