I went here almost 2 years ago, and still rave about how it was the best sandwich I've ever had. I'm scared to go back, because it's raised the bar so high. It's almost worth the trip from San Diego all the way there, just for that Sandwich.
I hope it's still open and just as tasty, the next time I venture there. Open a store in LA please!! -

Eh, I had very greasy ham & cheese panini here. Despite the loads of butter/oil, it was pretty good..but a little too 'heavy' after a morning of biking.
They also serve gelato - for which, I may return. -

We stopped here on my Calistoga trip this summer - and LOVED it so much that we came back a second time before leaving town. This is a busy deli with attention to detail in their food, and simple yet powerful flavor combinations.
Perfect place to pick up lunch for a tasting tour, or to stop and eat outside on their patio. Everything the three of us had was excellent - fresh, tasty, and quick. I had an off the chain turkey sandwich one day and the cobb salad the next.
Highly recommended if you find yourself in Calistoga looking for lunch! I will be back next time.Listed in: Napa Wine Country

We stayed in Calistoge but didn't want a heavy meal at heavy prices.
We got Palisades Deli's Cobb Salad to go, and it was fresh and delicious.
We were given a choice of dressing as well. We decided to try breakfast
the next morning; a breakfast sandwich and burrito.....also fresh and delicious,
and the coffee was great!
It is located in the landmark Calistoga Train Depot, and there is outdoor
seating, with a lovely assortment of plantings. We were there in late January
and it wasn't crowded. -

This is only a review for the wine tasting, upstairs in the little train station replica. We (4 of us) went over New Year's and this was the first stop of our wine tasting as walking around downtown Calistoga. The man who ran the tasting (I forget his name but he was SO nice, tall w/ a mustache) poured us some great wines and was not pressure-y at all. We ended up buying 5 bottles here and we were going to walk around some more, so he allowed us to leave the wines there and come back later. Oh, and he also recommended places to eat and was just a really pleasant person so this made the tasting that much better an experience.

I came to Calistoga looking for a great place to eat lunch. We walked into this deli with several sandwich selections! PERFECT! I ordered the French dip and some friends of mine ordered the special sausage sandwich.
We waiting out on the back patio for our sandwiches and enjoyed out beverages. It was the perfect day.
Our sandwiches came. Mine didn't even have the roast beef covering all of the bread. It was also covered with mayonnaise which I thought was interesting. This was a disappointment for me. My friends sandwiches had melted cheese and sausages cut in half with grilled green peppers and onions. It was really lacking in flavor.
The service was nice but the girl taking out order must have been new. I would love to try this place again, maybe I just made the wrong selection.
My recommendation: Ask for their specialty. -

Love this place.. lots of options, and friendly staff.

Thanks to Yelp mobile we decided to stop at Palisades while passing through Calistoga after a busy morning in the vineyards. It turned out to be the perfect choice for a light but filling lunch.
Virtually no wait, a really great selection of fresh made to order sandwiches and a few salad choices. I was surprised at the variety of hand made spreads such as the chipolte mayo which you normally would find at high end delis at twice the price. Very good quality bread, produce and cold cuts. Affordable for the valley.
Highly recommend Palisades for a quick, inexpensive yet better than usual sandwich served by genuinely friendly folks! -

We just popped over here for lunch.
We ordered the Turkey with Cranberry and the Ham with Gruyere and a 1/2 lb of the Greek Orzo pasta.
All of it was tasty. The bread on the Ham sandwich was a bit harder than we like, but it was just the type of roll, so no fault of anyone. I just prefer soft rolls.
I ordered a white iced mocha. It was good.
Would definitely go here again for lunch.
I think the ordering, then paying then waiting and then going back to pickup food process is a bit confusing for noobs, like us. -

Super delicious sandwiches. i had the bbq chicken (chicken, bbq sauce, bacon, red onion on a delicious roll), john had the zesty italian. We're still talking about how good they were 7 weeks later. Will totally get sandwiches from Palisades again next time I'm back in Calistoga.

Stopped here coming back from a friends house in Napa. Really wanted to eat at Taylor's Refreshers, but the line was ridiculous, as usual. Anyways, I digress...
The staff were very friendly upon arrival. This is your classic, California fresh delicatessen. A yummy sounding menu and moderate prices. The deli case pre-made salads looked good( though I didn't partake). I ordered the club sandwich with the turkey and lemon aioli option( the other option was roast beast and horseradish mayo). I was in a hurry to get back to the road so after retrieving my sandi to-go, I left. When I went to have a few bites about fifteen minutes later I found that they gave me a roast beef club bit still gave me the lemon aioli that goes with the turkey sandi that I ordered. Not terrible, but disappointing. I'll totally go again, but will check my order before I leave next time:) -

Came here for breakfast/lunch as suggested by our front desk resort lady. It was a very nice environment with the deli's connection to a wine train and the location being on Lincoln Street. We ordered a breakfast burrito and breakfast sandwich that was quite filling and tasty. I also had a mexican mocha that was very disappointing as it was bland and I could barely taste any chocolate. This place is great for a quick brunch, but I would not suggest it for breakfast.

Grabbed a killer Roasted Beet Salad (simple yet elegant in taste) and a Club with the roast beef/horseradish option (over the turkey and lemon aioli) which was quite lovely. We enjoyed them on our drive back to Monterey. This place is obviously a local's favorite and a great place for those passing by. They successfully know how to run a busy deli. Looks easy to do but I would guess not so much. Great job guys!

When we arrived in Calistoga after our hike I was so hungry, I needed to eat right away and I wasn't picky about where we ate. We went to the deli because it seemed simple and quick. What we found was a huge menu, a long waiting line and some decent prices for the area. I ordered a french dip. Seemed simple and filling. Where ever I go, french dips are pretty much the same and I wasn't in the mood for any surprises.
What I got was disgusting. There was so much mayo on the wad of cold, slimy processed sandwich meat that the bread fell apart and kept sliding away. I finally took the thing apart to eat it, because I was soooo hungry, but I just couldn't do it. The meat had no taste. I dipped it in the ---au jus--- but I couldn't even call it that. The sauce was more like leftover tomato soup. ??? Disgusting. I wanted to take the sandwich back, but didn't want to stand in line, so we left. The patio was nice and shady and comfortable, except for all the kids running around. I had to go somewhere else to get a beer to wash down the overwhelming taste of mayo. Unfortunately, it didn't help. I will never go near mayo again. -

Everything they have here is delicious. All the salads-broccoli salad, grain salads, chicken salad--wonderful. The salmon, polenta tower, on and on. The owner is a brilliant chef.
If you're there in the morning, great coffees and the best blueberry and cinnamon muffins you've ever tasted. Compared to the (any) area, low prices.
A nice little place to sit to eat your food, too. Only drawback-closes early. -

How can someone who's eaten as many sandwiches in a lifetime as one person can, fall in love with the delectable sliced concoction?
The mission: to find something worth lunching down while dissipating the giant buzz from 2 wine tastings. The only solution was to head down to Calistoga downtown (quite a lovely bit of small town feel) and hunt.
The bona fide winner: We went to the Palisades Deli Cafe on the recommendation of 2 locals (one of the girls told us the food there was sooo much better than their own sandwiches that they serve)...the deli is situated inside a historic train station junction. The decor was really nice and clean with a LCD plasma hanging from the walls (showing CNN). The deli offers a wide variety of cold and hot sandwiches. The refrigerator has a selection of quiches, tamales, salads, and baked goods (all looked sooo good). It was enough to build up a sizable picnic if anyone chooses to do so. The drinks are plentiful ranging from Snapples, Glaceau Vitamin Waters, Italian Sodas...and the usual accoutrements of sugar carbonation.
The Real Deal: We had the Tuna sandwiches and the Palisade Turkey. The Tuna was beautifully made with sprouts, jalapeno (not spicy!), tuna salad that was specifically a house blend, avocado, and veggies on a freshly made Acme Bread. The Turkey was presented on a sesame/onion bread filled with at least 2.5 inches of freshly cut turkey meat, a slather of sweet cranberry jelly, melted Swiss..Both were really well made, handsomely huge for sandwich portions and very delicious but to compare the 2 was a no brainer, hands down order the Palisade Turkey!!!! It was the BEST turkey sandwich I've ever eaten. Let's just say that all 3 of us were fighting over all the sandwiches and we didn't even leave any crumbs. Normally we three would have tons of leftovers no matter what, but this time was a keeper!
Also please do enter into station itself through a doorway in the back, it's really a neat place to sightsee and shop.
They accept major credit cards and as luck would have it, a menu of lattes and espressos. -

Great spot for a quick lunch in Calistoga especially after a bike ride. Grab one of their delicous sandwiches that range anywhere from $8-$12 bucks. We ordered a bbq pork sandwich and a turkey on ciabatta with some green bean salad and potato salad for sides. Everything was very good. The bbq pork had some delicious slaw but the sauce is what made the sandwich incredible. I also love that there is an outdoor patio where you can sit and enjoy your lunch.

Decent deli shop recommended off yelp by one of our friends.
The shop has a good selection of different choices and the prices are okay but over all it was nothing special.
I order a turkey sandwich on wheat and well that's pretty much what it was. I did not get the deli sandwich feel from my sandwich.
We also order some broccoli salad, mango salad and stuffed chicken. it was good nothing stellar but hit the spot and satisfied our craving for lunch. -

My husband's tuna salad sandwich was great and my split sausage one was too. The tomato basil soup was warm but I like my soup pipin' hot, sorry. The biggest turn off? The bathrooms were not in order so I was told to go across the street to the nearest bathroom. In the rain? No thanks.

Great spot for lunch, with a sandwhich menu that is expansive and delicious. The veggie options are slightly limited, but more than made up for with the several offerings -- in particular the hot valley veggie. This place also serves up fresh soups each day, salads, and general deli-style dishes. By no means a gourmet dining destination, but a very good spot to grab something good and quick before or after a wine tasting.

Tasty gourmet sandwich and salad selection. Looks to be a family run business, so I am a fan. Great place to stop during wine tasting or on the way to Robert Louis Stevenson.

I ate hear for lunch on both days of my recent vacation and was super happy with my sandwiches and salads. Waiting in the line was a bummer and I think had more to do with the goofy tourists (I was a tourist too, but at least i wasnt goofy) that were super slow on both days. This is definitely the stop off point in town for buying picnic supplies.

We were wandering down the main drag in Calistoga and decided to stop in for a sandwich. I had the Tuscan sandwich and I think it was the best sandwich I have ever had. Very fresh bread. They had lots of other great looking things in the case that looked homemade. Definitely give them a try! Excellent!

this place was recommended by our lovely wine pourers one day to drop by this and have a bite to eat. this was a new alternative from Taylor's Refresher, which is where we usually go to. I was amazed at how many things you can choose from. I had steak tacos and finished them. It was a lovely place. Can't wait to go back and have a different thing to eat.

Good sandwiches but overpriced! Especially if you are perusing their deli options - the prepared salads and other foods. Way WAY overpriced for the quality. Lines can be super long and staff can be super slow. So I'm giving it a 'meh'.

Excellent sandwich. I found myself hungry in Calistoga at about 3:30 in the afternoon, when most places in this sleepy town were closed. Palisade Deli was one of the few places open, recommended by a local. And I must admit, it was one of the better sandwiches I've had in a while. Plus, it has a nice, quiet area to eat outdoors on a comfortable day, in booths shaded from the sun.

We stopped in for a quick lunch in between winery visits. Varied menu including sandwiches, salads, soups, and slightly more exotic deli fare (burritos, crab cakes, lasagna). I had a meatball sub and it was great- substantial meatballs, tangy marinara, and two different kinds of cheese- yum! The original plan was to grab food and picnic at a winery, but it was cold out and starting to drizzle. Luckily, there were plenty of tables at the cafe. They also have a little coffee bar inside as well as a little mall area through the back door, but we were more excited to eat and head to the next winery than to explore. Definitely a great place to grab a quick lunch- I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that picnic!

My husband and I were recommended Palisades Deli Cafe for our rehearsal dinner. It was the perfect location for our 40 guests to sit back and relax while having some really good comfort food. We were blessed with great weather so we opted to have our party outside. They did a very nice job of keeping the outside decor simple by using candles and hanging lights to warm the space. The menu we chose included; pulled pork sandwiches, fish tacos, empanadas, various salads, and homemade cookies and brownies. Eduardo and Marta could have done a better job of getting the food out faster but in the end no one left hungry or thirsty that's for sure! It was a great start to our wedding festivities and my husband and I will definitely come back next time were in Calistoga!
