Marisa - I'm surprised we've never met because I've been going to Palazzolo for at least 12 years.

Lori is my stylist and she is the absolute best. When I go out people sometimes ask me if I'm a hairdresser (which I'm not) that's how good my hair looks. I have referred countless people to Lori just because they walked up to me on the street to compliment me on my hair. But enough about me.

Lori is the color master, the hair cut queen and highlighter extraordinaire. Don't ask her for an up-do (she'll refer you to someone else though) and she'll only cut your kids hair if you're a good customer of hers to begin with.

The best thing about Lori is that I get the best cut and color when I let her do what she wants. The less you dictate, the better your hair will look. Granted I've been going to her for a long time so she gets me. If it's your first time of course you'll have to tell her what you're looking for.

Palazzolo isn't cheap but I don't think your hair is something you should be bargain hunting for. The owner Jimmy is very nice and generous, the receptionists are different every time but the stylists seem to stay there forever - that says a lot in itself.

One more thing - you can pay with credit card but you have to tip in cash and you can't have the receptionist over charge you credit card and use the extra to leave a tip - you must bring cash to tip with you.

are you kidding me? i'm the first to review this salon? let me re-phrase that, the one and only salon in the Detroit metro area!

i have been going to Palazzolo's since I was in 6th grade (close to 15 years) and have never left with a bad haircut, bad color or a bad experience service-wise. but that would be because of Teri, my ultimate hair stylist. she is amazing, always on top of trends in hair styles, colors, etc. but without being too trendy that you want to change your 'do in a few weeks. she's seen my hair through everything--
- "is this mop curly or straight?" (6th-8th grade)
- "give me the aniston 'do" (7th grade)
- "i just want to wear it straight all the time" (freshman-junior yr of HS)
- "i want to wear it curly but i look like a lion" (senior year of HS)
- "i want the aguilera highlights, red and blonde" (soph yr of college)
- "blonde highlights again" (junior year)
- "keep it LONG!" (junior year-now)
- "i want bangs...what do you think? (senior year of college)

i live in chicago and have been here for over 3 1/2 years and STILL have not found a stylist to go to. but...that doesn't say much, because i have never tried to find a stylist in chicago - that's just how good Teri is. if i had tons of $$$ i would fly Teri out here to do my 'do.

everytime i get my hair done, everyone asks me where i got it done and i cannot count how many compliments i get on it, it's ridiculous. my hair is one of my best assets and it's one thing i don;t mind spending money on...yes, palazzolo's is pretty pricey (but the norm for big city and birmingham hair salons alike). the price is worth it when you're dealing with your hair.

+i know people who don't like their 'do initially and go back in and Teri will fix it, re-color, etc...whatever to make you happy. it's not always the stylists fault when you ask for a certain look, it doesn't mean you're going to like it once it frames your face or you have to style it everyday.
++another cool thing about palazzolo's is that they have a great assistant program(apprentice), where each person gets to learn straight from a stylist and has the chance to get a chair at the salon. all of Teri's assistants have been great and have either gotten chairs at the salon and carried on her talents in their own way or have gone their own way to another salon taking her teachings with them.

my hair is amazing all because of Teri...and i won't cheat on her with any stylist in Chicago!
