i enjoyed my meal here!  in fact, i enjoyed it a whole lot!

we ordered a crap load of food for three people for lunch.  two bibimbaps (they're big so if you're ordering something else, two people can share it and be satisfied), one short ribs bento, an order of korean fried chicken and pancakes.

first of all, i'm a fried chicken whore, so any fried chicken to me is good fried chicken :)  secondly, i've never ever had korean fried chicken before so i don't know what kind of standard i can compare it to... BUT... it's yummy!!  good texture, good crunch, good taste!  the pancakes were a little too thick for my liking and a little too dense in texture... i guess there is such a thing as too much of a good thing :s  the bibimbaps were delicious - i actually appreciated the semi cooked cooked egg as oppose to the usual raw ones i've had before.  the semi cooked egg makes the rice less damp - if that makes any sense to the wet-bibimbap lovers :D

if you're sitting at a booth (like we were) and think the service sucks 'coz nobody wants to take your order, you'll notice that there is a little buzzer thing above the table... that, my friends, not only says your table number, it's actually a bell that lets the waitresses know you need them.  of course, we only realized this AFTER our meal LOL!  so throughout our meal, we're thinking, 'oh they don't like us coz we're the only non-koreans' HAHAHAHA!  i think we would have had quite a different experience if we had noticed the bloody buzzer - the bloody fools we were :D  of course, it would have been nice if they pointed it out to us when they served us our drinks to begin with... arrgh!

Great atmosphere, nothing to write home about in the food department. The food was not bad by any means, just didn't have that kick that it should have had. Plus we had horrible service, not their kindness just how slow they were. It wasn't that busy and it took them forever to get us chopsticks, or a drink etc.

I have been spoiled with some amazing Korean food which may have been the problem for me at this place. Food appeared rushed. By far it is the nicest looking Korean joint I've been to.

All my friends suggested that when in Tacoma, that I must eat korean barbeque at palace. So, my girlfriend and I stopped by after shopping. Wow, the food was great. Spicy soup and marinated bulgogi was awesome. We ate everything, or I ate most of it...
The restaurant was clean and service was nice. Despite reading some negative reviews, it was excellent.  I certainly would recommend trying there. We will definitely go back there again.

Occasionally get out of my HO Soon Yi bubble..Palace is allright.  The spicy pork is ok, and other dishes are pretty decent.  Unfortunately, the service is not the greatest.  They have this really cool buzzer system (that many restaurants in korea have).  There is a buzzer at your table, and it rings on the board, and they can see which table is buzzing...great idea, except every time i have buzzed them, no one ever comes!!  Waiting for the check...it usually results in walking up to the counter and asking for me.  Waiting for more water?  Almost impossible to get.

I've been there twice, and both times it was like that.  I probably will not be returning.

Palace restaurant is the one my Korean friend recommended.  There were lots of Korean customers, which is a good sign for authenticity.  I had their BBQ with kalbi, pork, chicken and all other goodies like side dishes, rice and soup.  It was filling and sauce tasted great.  The side dishes had great variety and flavors.  Servers may not smile at you but do their job.  Like making sure your meat is being cooked right.  You can enjoy Korean beer too.  Overall it was a good experience and would be a place to take guests who have never had Korean BBQ.

Hmmm i order the bulgolgi, kalbi, & short ribs. Also i order a round of solju but they The meats are marinated very good & the vegies are fresh.  The service here sucks though & on top of that why would you leave the A/C on during winter? WTF?!! blah probably one of the worst korean restaurant i ever been =/

Visiting Tacoma, I stopped in at this Korean Palace (Barbeque) Restaurant & Cafe.  Ordered Al Tang, which is like Arl Soon Doo Boo  in that it has soft tofu, and fish eggs - but this one only also has enoki mushrooms. Unlike what i am used to - they didn't put the raw egg in the boiling stew.  Also ordered marinated beef - and wow!  The marinated beef was to die for - it was really excellent.  Great first experience - 4 stars for a good-to-great soup and absolutely knock-it-out-of-the-park marinated beef  but minus one star for no raw egg.  Still looking forward to going back for barbeque at the table.

This place has a broad selection of korean food, but there are some things to keep in mind.  1) some of the menu items are only able to be prepared at the barbecue section of the restaurant, and it's not listed on the menu which you can or can't. 2) I consider myself fairly knowledgeable of korean food, having lived there for a year, but the waitress assumed I didn't know anything because I'm not Korean myself, so when I ordered the Sam Gyup Sal, she kindly suggested I order some Kalbi instead, which kind of offended me.  Overall, though, the food was good.  Portions are big and served family style which is pretty standard for Korean food.  If it weren't for the semi-bad experience with the waitress, I would have rated it better.
