One of the nicer places on SPI, especially if you like beer. Still a good place to go even if you don't.
They have a little of everything, from burgers and pizza to salads and crab stuffed flounder. For lunch today we had oysters on the half shell, shrimp ceviche, a couple of pizzas, and a chef salad. All were good, if unexceptional.
They were unable to make a mojito but could make margaritas; these tasted good but were weak and too full of ice.
Their main attraction is the beers they brew in-house. I am not a beer drinker but tried their beer sampler... didn't seem any better or worse than commercial beers, but as I said I'm not a beer drinker...
Thank god for this place!
I was at the island all weekend-tuesday for Labor Day weekend and every place I went to had beers on tap like BUSCHE?? Bud light. Miller high life. I mean sorry if you take offense to that but I LOVE some good beer on TAP, not in a bottle, not in a can. NOOO thanks!
I found this place because it was by my hotel. The first night I drove by they were already closing, they close at about 1045pm. I came back on my last night and was seriously excited to hear they had red amber on tap. One of my favorite beers ever. We came to sit on the rooftop but since it was really slow they had it closed..bummer!!
I was going to leave but then I decided to stay and good thing I did! I went to the bar, was greeted by a nice bartender (I forgot his name, he wears glasses). My sister is far from being a beer drinking so she just sat there and sampled all the beers but I had a red amber and a pale ale. DEEELICIOUS! and the bartender was really talkative and totally understood my disapproval for SPI's choice of beers.
I wish I could have brought a growler of beer on the plane back to Austin! haha
All in all, I really enjoyed this place and I would soooooo come back! I love good beer! On tap! At a brewery! YES
happy hour. happy hour... happy.....
we make several visits to this place every time we stay on the island. happy hour is a bargain with $8 pitchers of beer, 50 cent oysters etc.
my kids love love love the complimentary beer bread. they also love the pizza here, also cheap for happy hour. I almost feel guilty about how good we leave feeling and how little we have had to pay.
the service here has always been friendly. we are always appreciative to have erika keep us happy.
nothing we've ever had is bad. have also enjoyed the shrimp three ways and..... the happy hour!
We came here with a party of about 25 people. This place is super busy even in the off season. We started out with calamari, which was okay, I actually liked the sauce more than the calamari. My husband had a pizza and really liked the crust. I had a hamburger and the meat was on the dry side. I did not like the coleslaw at all. For such a large party the customer service was better than expected. Prices are a bit on the high side. Parking was easy. Might eat here again.
The foods okay, but I tried a raspberry beer that was great. I tried this after living in wisconsin for a couple years, so I'd like to say I have a slightly advanced beer palate. You also have a view of the brewing kettles in the main dining room. Overall, I probably wouldn't go back with other options on the island.
Disappointing seafood, surprisingly!
We had our heart set for good seafood, and ended up here, where seafood is secondary to the fact that this is a sports bar that deep fries everything. TVs set to multiple sports programs, which I figure must be a local custom of straight Texas. Drink. Eat. Get numb.
Noisy. What were we thinking?
On the other hand, what in the hell were we 2 nondrinkers doing on South Padre Island anyway?
This place was on the corner of the block we where staying on, saw the place everyday that week and FINALLY went there on one of our last days.
GREAT PIZZA. The service was pretty good, but they had some issues splitting the check up (our group was huge over 15 people). Nice outdoor patio to eat on when the weather is nice too.
I got the sampler plate of beers, very enjoyable. Cant remember my favorites since its been so long though.
Great variety of food, amazing pizzas and fantastic beers. Prices were good too. will definitely go next time we're in padre
It may have been my extreme hunger at the time, but I thought the pizza was great and reasonably priced considering the variety of toppings and sauces at your disposal.
I believe someone in my party had a sample plate of their brews, and I remember liking them OK (I was admittedly more focused on the task at hand - stuffing my face). This was a few years ago, so not sure what has changed.
I'll definitely come back the next time I'm in Padre.
I don't drink beer any more so maybe I missed the allure of this place. The atmosphere is above average for SPI. The food was decent but nothing to write home about. The server was nice and well intentioned but did not have a clue.
This spot is one you need to know what to order. Easy good choices are the Fried Fish for Two (it's huge), the Chicken Salad Pesto Flatbread (what I almost always get) and Pizza. Sides (as you get an option) the roasted potatoes are the bomb. Our spring break students always follow my advice & love it on what to order - our Company is Inertia Tours here locally as the tour operator to south padre island.
Wow. I was really impressed by this restaurant. The whole fam went in for an late lunch and everyone was pleasantly surprised.
First off, our waiter was excellent. He buzzed in and out so quickly and we never had to ask for refills.
We shared the fried dill pickles and peel-n-eat shrimp for appetizers. Delish!
I had the Fajitadelphia, which is a mix of Philly Cheese Steak with fajita meat. It came with garlic mashed potatoes. Both were yummy.
My dad's Stuffed Flounder was the freshest fish I have tasted in a long time! Great restaurant overall!!
We tried the oysters, beer sampler, and two burgers. The oysters were a little strong -- didn't taste quite as fresh as the ones we'd had in Corpus Christi the night before. Their beer was good, although all of them were a little mild for our tastes. The burgers were very good -- the beef had an excellent taste, and they even came out correctly cooked to order. Our waitress was very helpful and timely.
Overall, a positive experience.
Since it's the only microbrewery in the area, I was determined to give this place a try on a recent trip to South Padre. Although they have a full menu, which mostly pub-style food, my GF and I just had beer and an appetizer. If you're there for the beer and not sure where to start, they have a very reasonable sampler tray where you get 4-oz. samples of all their current beer on tap for under $5. We dove into the sampler beers and chose our faves. I went with the lager, while my lovely GF chose the Scottish ale (my favorite, too, but I didn't want to be a copycat). All the beers were decent, though not necessarily memorable. The stuffed and fried mushrooms were delectable, the bartender was very cool, and the clientele friendly. I'm sure we'll go back if we're ever in S. Padre again.
Great brews and great food. Don't be scared to pick up a growler if you plan on visiting the island regularly. Wi-Fi and a deck with a great view of the strip.
Had lunch here when I arrived on the island. The beer was good, as was my pizza. The staff was friendly and gave me many great suggestions of places to see and things to do for the rest of my visit.
