ehh? One of the greatest fucking places on the entire planet, and I've been to several (planets).
I'm gonna add a superfluous 'fuck' right here. -

Venice, CA
these courts are so awesome. i kind of thought venice beach was a hippie dump before this place changed my mind...
i always enjoy a good roller-blade from venice to malibu, but the boardwalk by and large SUCKS. the food is horrendous at every stop of the way and the stores are useless with the exception of "Anonymous Clothing" (my favorite store).
oh and the buskers i find annoying. i'm sorry these characters are just too much for me:
------------------------------
there's the mime that dresses in the same silver outfit 365 days a year w/ a silver dog...his clothes must reek by now.
there's the guy in leopard print with the snakes that stands on a chair.
and no, i do not want to "take a listen" to your sample mr. up and coming rap artist.
also, no i do not need any weed today, weed doctor.
ok i admit the break-dancers are pretty cool...cuz i pop and lock'd back in the day and no Sunday is complete without my matching addidas kicks and trainers.
BUT WHAT IS UP with the little guy who wears nothing but speedo thongs and juggles a silver ball?!? i guess it's not REALLY juggling because he only has ONE ball - so what the HELL is he doing anyway?!! acrobatics? there's nothing acrobatic about him or his metal ball... he just moves the ball quickly from one hand to the other. and people watch! i think one day i'll get one of those wands with the long ribbon attached and start doing rhythmic gymnastics in circles around him. show him what's what with my floor routine. swirling my ribbon round and round him (that'd be so hot if i did it in matching speedos with him...) AND ribbon dancing is an olympic sport, so hopefully no one will laugh at me like in high school when i tried to form a ribbon squad.
oh and let's not forget the guy on rollerblades - with a turban - who's also a marathon runner - a VEGAN (go figure) - and plays guitar while skating. he's not actually very skilled with the music, just LOUD and always rolls by and starts jamming right when i'm about to serve.... evil vegans, with their strange ways and habits that i find unsettling.
THE COURTS, however, are very well maintained and it's always fun to get a rally going in front of the female lady kitten spectators.
rowr....
...i am a PUMA stealthily padding across the court.

Long Beach, CA
Located right next to the basketball courts, this place is a well known area for top paddle tennis players. Extremely busy most of the times so expect a long wait but this is still a low key sport that most are not familiar with. Everyone walks by and yet they forget that this place exists. 4 stars for introducing me this sport but -1 star for the $10 parking......(debateable cause you are at the beach....)

This place is well maintained. The parking is the hardest to find. I did not find it that crowded.

Paddle tennis is a great sport for those that have tried and failed at tennis... racquetball, squash, badminton, table tennis, walking upright for that matter. Unfortunately, it can be a daunting task to find an opponent here because it's hard to tell the paddle tennis players apart from the roving bums of Venice Beach.
