10 reviews for Pad Thai Restaurant
So whenever I go home to visit, I try to eat here because I know I can get something vegan here.
So the 2nd time I was here on my visit home for Christmas break I ordered the general tsao's tofu...It was the 4th time I had gotten it there and it's pretty good so I figured it must be safe, right?
No
I found a Made in China tag, clearly from an article of clothing, in my dinner.
I don't know what was going on back in the kitchen and who was taking who's clothes off and putting them in the dinner, but I don't think I'll be back:-)
The koi under glass in the foyer is cool, but it goes downhill from there.
Actually, it goes downhill even before you get to the foyer because the parking lot is way too small for the size of the restaurant. Don't park in the plaza next door, because they _will_ have you towed.
The food here is just awful.
And that's it for my review. I don't feel like wasting any more time on this place.
I definitely do not agree with the raving reviews. While there was nothing disappointing service wise- the food was NOT good.
I have a high standard for Thai cuisine and Pad Thai fell very short. The summer roles were not fresh, the rice paper was stale and way too chewy. I have made better ones myself. The curry was nothing special. It was bland and tasted like they had poured it out of a jar and added no spices or freshness. The prices are way too high for how bad the food is.
If you have never had Thai food before, please, do not go to Pad Thai for your first experience. Try Cilantro in Akron instead or, preferably, Mint Cafe in Cleveland.
The food is really good, and you have the option to substitute with tofu and brown rice within many meals.
Wow, I couldn't disagree more with these reviews. Perhaps we got it on a bad night, but my pad kee mao was gloopy, greasy, and overly sweet (is it even supposed to be sweet? I thought any sugar/sweetener was supposed to be subtle,) my wife's pad thai seemed to be lacking fish oil and was, as she said, "I don't know what, but not pad thai," and the appetizers were kind of weird Asian-fusion-y things that just didn't work together. Pot stickers that fell apart with an unappetizing-looking gray ball of packed pork, for example.
Maybe we got it on a bad night, as I said, but the ingredients didn't come together or have that fresh taste that decent Thai food has. In addition, the service was extremely slow, to the point that our hosts (who really like this restaurant overall) were getting frustrated, and we received literally not a single water refill. It wasn't because it was slammed or anything - it was off-peak, and the place wasn't even at 50% capacity.
Food-wise, maybe it was because I'm not a vegetarian; perhaps their veg offerings are better overall?
It's rare that I have such an overwhelmingly negative experience anywhere as I'm pretty easy-going, but I don't think I'll be back here. There are many other decent dining options near or in Fairlawn/Montrose that are more of a sure thing. Yech.
Good food at reasonable prices. The let down was the service. The waitress totally forgot one of our orders and didn't bring it even after we reminded her twice! And she didn't remember who ordered what.
This is a nice place with great ambiance and big parking facility. It's located in a nice area where there a good bit of shopping area.
We went to dinner after work one day and turned out to be a good choice for dinner. I had Basel Stir Fry with Chicken and my co-worker had Paper Chicken Stir fry. We liked the food taste and the portion size. We also had hot n sour soup which was nice and spicy.
The menu is quite big and lots of options. The place is huge and prices are very resonable.
I will go there again!
I've gone here over 10 times in 2 years and have always had a great experience. The squid is cooked to perfection (salt and pepper squid appetizer). They have the best curry and fried rice dishes. I keep meaning to try some of their other stuff but I can't resist the curries and pineapple fried rice. The lunch prices are a steal!
It seems I go to Pad Thai every time I visit Akron, which is about twice per year. Why do I go to Pad Thai? As a vegetarian there are still surprisingly few options for mid-high cuisine dining in the U.S., but Pad Thai makes something that they call 'gourmet tofu.' It is made of thin sheets of tofu wrapped, rolled, and fried. They can substitute it for any meat in any dish, it seems. It is exquisite. Even the meat-eating blood-drinkers I know truly enjoy it.
If in the Montrose area, try Pad Thai.
Excellent Thai food. Whoda thunk it in Fairlawn? Just when I thought I'd been sentenced to endless varieties of greasy bar-food, or heat-n-serve chain restaurants, I discovered Pad Thai.
Excellent Thai food, great location, the decor is clean yet sophisticated. Service has always been great. And the prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended. I eat there at least 1x/week.
