We just had a nice stay at the Pacifica Suites in Santa Barbara.  The only complaint was that they placed us in a room facing the freeway onramp when we specifically asked for a room away from the freeway when we made the reservation.  We asked to switch rooms right away and was put I to a room facing the pool.  We were there during a slow period though, so glad that there as a quiet room available.

The hotel and the room was quite nice.  Normal size suite with a living room and separate bedroom.  Love the balcony where you can sit and enjoy the outdoors.  Love the 2 free bottles of water where other hotels I've stayed in would charge $4 a piece for them.  Love the uodated bathroom with good water pressure and double sinks separate from the tub and toilet.  Love the free made-to-order breakfast.  Love the free wi-fi.  The pool looked great too, but it was Dec so we didn't jump in.  We'd stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay here.
It seems very secluded even though the freeway is right next door. We couldnt here it from our room.
Breakfast was surpisingly good except for the omellettes being a little soggy and runny. but the rest of the breakfast items are great.
The staff was friendly and helpful.
I complained about the toilet water smelling really bad and yellow tint and they got back and said they will look into it. Hopefully that gets fixed.
that was the only thing really wrong with it.
    We would stay here again.

This is a crew hotel for the airline I work for, and I was super lucky to get an overnight here. The room was super nice and I had a balcony overlooking the pool. In the morning, they have free complimentary breakfast made to order in their cafe' by the pool. I had pancakes and eggs that were delicious! The hotel provides bikes for guests, and it's only about a mile to the beach. I would've gone to the beach, but I'm terrible at directions and ended up getting lost in an industrial park....oops. I would love to come and stay here for a weekend

I stayed here for 2 nights with a group of 10 people. Overall, it's a really quiet place. Parking was convenient--there were plenty of spaces in the lot and they arranged it so that you can park right next to your room, minimizing the walking. So I actually never had to set foot in the lobby.

Our suite was a lot smaller than I expected. There was 1 bedroom but the king size bed took up pretty much the entire space, 1 bathroom with a super slippery shower/bathtub (beware!) + 2 sinks, and 1 small living room with a couch, desk, and a couple chairs.

During the day, although the AC was on, it was still pretty warm in some parts of the room. Bleh. But then at night, we were freezing our butts off when the AC was on. -_-

    On the brighter side...

Free wireless! The other reviews say that it was spotty but we never had any problems. It was a little slow at times but overall pretty good.

Free continental breakfast in the morning. And they give you a few tickets if you want hot food.

And the best part: it's only about 5 miles away from State St. where all the restaurants and shops are! :)

This is my second stay at Pacifica Suites. The location is quiet despite the proximity to the freeway. Nice pool and hot tub. Nicely landscaped. Comfortable rooms. Gracious staff. Very good complimentary prepared to order breakfast. Would like to have had a nice restaurant within walking distance for dinner, but there is a "dine in" delivery service available. There is an issue with the water as mentioned by several previous reviewers. Overall though, a very good experience. Would stay here again.

We stayed here with a large, family party...reunion type event.  Tiffany (events coordinator) was really friendly and helpful in arranging our needs.  We rented the Fireside Room for one of the nights we were there, for our family gathering.  The room was nice, clean and perfect for our needs (about 35 people in attendance).

The rooms at Pacifica are quite spacious, and easily accommodated our family of 6.  If you want a microwave, you have to ask for one...and be sure to ask early on.  We never got ours, but it worked out fine.  Room rates seemed pricey to me, but after checking around, it's actually quite reasonable for what you get.

The made to order breakfasts add to the value; the two men cooking should be commended for keeping all of those orders straight and getting them cooked in a short amount of time!  The espresso/coffee machine was a nice perk too!

The grounds are really pretty, with plenty of outdoor public seating.  The pool was super clean!

We would definitely stay here again.

I was very pleasantly surprised when we stayed here.  We normally stayed at the hotel down the street that is pretty old and even though Pacifica Suites looks old too it is not inside.  The rooms are very nice with granite counters and flat screens.  They also offer a great omelet breakfast that was complimentary when we stayed.  Their garden is lovely and it is so close to UCSB for parents visiting.

After an exhaustive search for hotel accommodations in the Santa Barbara area, I ended up booking a few nights at the Pacifica Suites. About 5 or so miles away from the hubbub of State Street, these suites are better suited to visitors of UCSB. Honestly, I didn't mind the distance from the hustle and bustle of downtown SB.

The Pacifica Suites are located near the 101 freeway and Hollister Avenue. This secluded hotel is easy to miss as it seems to be hidden behind a dense, verdant overgrowth of foliage and trees. Once found, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the accommodations. At check-in, we found fresh fruit and baked cookies (Otis Spunkmeyer) awaiting us. We were also just in time for the Manager's Wine Reception (Mon-Thurs, 5:00-7:00 pm only). Complimentary breakfast vouchers were even added to our check-in packet. Nice touches!

The amenities were above average, in my opinion. Our suite included two televisions, a dvd player, a mini-fridge, two complimentary bottles of water, a sofa-bed (in addition to our king-sized bed in the bedroom), and free WiFi. I was pretty happy with the level of service and courtesy from the hotel staff. We had a small problem with our room key/card (didn't work the first time). However, Kimberly (at the front desk) quickly remedied the situation and had a maintenance worker fix the problem the following morning. The WiFi is super spotty, though. I don't know if our room was too far from the router, but my connectivity was horrible - one minute I'd be connected, the next I was lost. I got so fed up with it that I just used my Blackberry for Yelp searches!

Despite the WiFi mess, this place is quite nice. It's no Ritz-Carlton, but it doesn't claim to be. It's close to the freeway, yet extremely quiet. I almost like I wasn't anywhere near the city. If you're looking for a clean, comfy, and spacious room (perfect for the family), Pacifica Suites is the place for you.

Very basic suite hotel including cooked breakfast for $70+ less than Best Western Encina Lodge & Suites off downtown. Nothing fancy, but you don't need much else beyond comfortable beds and a bathroom when traveling with the family.

Located near the airport and UCSB, its a bit of a trek to downtown and beach sites. That initially concerned me but soon realized we'd have to drive a bit wherever we wanted to go anyway.  As its near UCSB, that means its close to some great student hang outs such as Woody's BBQ and Palapa.

A friend and I with her 4 year old boy and a dog stayed at this hotel over the July 4th weekend.  The free breakfast was very good.  The staff was unfailingly friendly.  The grounds and the pool were nice. Our dog loved the place, lots of grass and open ground to explore.  The boy liked the pool.  The flat screen TVs in the living room and bedroom were nice.

My only complaint was the location at 8 miles from downtown Santa Barbara. It would have been nice if my friend and her son and I could have walked the streets of Santa Barbara and down to the beach at night without having to get everyone together, drive to downtown and find a parking space.

But if you want a kid and dog friendly place to sight see all day and hang out with the kids at the pool at night this is a good place.

We've been looking for somewhere to stay in Santa Barbara since our daughter went to school up here. We decided to try out the Pacifica suites. It worked out well for us as we had 2 of our daughter's with us. While the "Suites" are a living room and a bedroom, when the old sofa bed is opened up there is nowhere to hang out, so forget about an afternoon nap. The price was reasonable, given the cooked to order breakfast that was included and the 2 rooms. However, the furniture is old and the room had a slightly musty smell. We'll probably try it again when we have the family, but when it's just my husband and myself, we may continue our quest for "Our Place" in SB.

Halloween in Santa Barbara, we crammed 12-13 people in a room with one queen bed and a living room with a sofa bed pull out. It actually wasn't too bad although I def recommend you sleep horizontally on the bed, (4 people can fit and sleep comfortably that way).

Complimentary breakfast was really delicious. Also, for those who don't have enough of the complimentary breakfast order forms, there are muffins, croissants, juice, coffee (really good coffee machine that makes a whole bunch of different drinks), and fruit for anyone to take.

Website promised internet but it either didn't work or was extremely extremely slow.

My wife and I stayed at the Pacifica Suites last weekend for a wedding in Santa Barbara. The two options given to us by the bride and groom were the Pacifica Suites and the Bacara resort. The Pacifica Suites won for cost ($220/night vs. $550 for Bacara) and we were very happy with the decision.

The staff was extremely courteous, proactive and responsive.

    Examples:

    1. During check-in the woman behind the front desk noticed our baby daughter and immediately asked if we would like to have a crib brought to the room, free of charge.

    2. When we got to our room the air conditioning wasn't working and it was unusually warm. I called the front desk and they had a maintenance person in the room within 10 minutes. When he couldn't fix the AC, I called back and the woman from the front desk showed  up to our room with keys to the room across the hall. She and the maintenance man then helped us move our luggage to the new room (where the AC was working).

Perhaps the best amenity for couples traveling with children is the separate living room and bedroom set-up at the Pacifica Suites. This was a big bonus as we were able to let our daughter sleep in her crib in the living room while we watched TV and read in the bedroom.

Lastly, the hotel offers a free made to order breakfast, which was not anything super special but was definitely a nice touch, especially since it provided a great social gathering spot with the other wedding guests.

The only complaint I have about the Pacifica Suites is that the beds could probably use an overhaul. These are not the "dream bed" style that you'll find at a Westin or high-end Hyatt. The beds were more like you'd find at a Super 8, pretty firm and you can feel the springs.

So... one of my college roommates used to work here, which influenced my choice to stay here on a recent business trip. And, I must say WOW, the Pacifica Suites was all that I expected and much more.

Being an all suite hotel my room was large, I actually had a room with a bedroom (king bed), and a living room with a desk and couch. Both rooms had a tv...nice. The decor was very tasteful, nothing cheesy... that always pisses me off, honestly. Oh, and they had free wireless Internet, and they gave me a free pass to the spectrum club since they don't have an on-site gym.

When I checked in, they told me that the FREE happy hour was about to start, and that some fresh cookies would be right out. I like free drinks, who doesn't. They also had a free breakfast which was good, it consisted of your typical breakfast fare.

Another huge plus, the bed was very comfortable. I normally don't sleep well when I'm out on a business trip, but I slept like I was in my bad back home here.

Friendly staff greeted us on check in. Room was mini suite that was great because we brought our dog for the weekend dog show. Great touch that they have doggie bag holder outside. But it became empty Friday night and was not refilled the entire weekend. Others with dogs staying there also. Included is a custom made breakfast which was very good. Medium size quiet pool was relaxing, but nothing special. Ambiance ok but everything is a short drive. Free and good wifi.

4/5 I took away a star because its not a luxurious mind-blowing spot.  It is, however, the best bang for your buck and its ultra clean, spacious, with free breakfast every morning which is one of the memorable perks to staying here. This place deserves to get more love and ever since I stayed here once, I always book this spot for every trip that I wind up in santa barbara. There's a clean pool, jacuzzi, and breakfast is all-out with eggs, bacon, pancakes, waffles, cereals, yogurt toast.  Yeah, I love food but everything over all is great and I've never been disappointed.  Also, the ideal spot if you have several people staying with you because its a huge room. Its venetian style....but not.

We rented two rooms and stayed at the Pacifica Suites for a wedding.  The rooms were big enough, but we were given rooms facing the highway, which made it very difficult to sleep.  In addition, the cold water had a brown tint to it and tasted extremely chlorinated.  We don't know whether it was as a result of the water or not, but my wife and I seemed to have skin reactions after staying there.  We complained to the Front Desk and they told us that it is because they use water from their well, but tried to reassure us that the water met all safety standards.  I would recommend staying away from this place.

Love the Pacifica Suites.  A little out of the way near Goleta, but lots of room for our family of 4.  Breakfast was not bad for free, nothing great.   Cooked to order eggs, fruit, pancakes, waffles, etc.  Suite gets 5 stars, -1 for location and so-so breakfast.
