I tried this place after buying a Groupon for an air brush tan. It's the first tanning place I've tried in Marin as I usually find a place in the city. The gal, Savannah was so sweet and made me feel extremely comfortable. The one thing that really sticks out is that the tanning solution doesn't smell at all! First time I've ever had that, usually you get at least a little odor for the next day or so.
My tan was even and a nice bronze color. I already booked my next appointment! -

Although not flawless, the airbrush tan looked infinitely better than the booth tan. It doesn't quite last a week though...I mean it does but by the end, it's pretty faded out.
Note to self, do not wear a regular bikini next time unless you want major tan lines. -

Only good things to say about Pacific Tan. :)
Been doing the airbrush thing for awhile now and I must say that Danielle and Rachel both are so good at what they do. They are very sweet and professional and I am always very happy with my tan.
I totally recommend this place for any of your airbrush tanning needs- Or any of your tanning needs for that matter! A+ -

I am a white girl... I am the type of white girl that glows in the dark.... but I am also the type of white girl that burns real easy and becomes a crispy critter.... so several years ago I started getting, as my son calls it "tan in the can". He has Spanish blood so he tans and doesn't seem to burn so its very easy for him to make fun of me.....
I found on their website that they have a wonderful ongoing special... $59.00 a month for unlimited Mystic Tans..... So I can tan and look healthy and not all glowey, and still put on my 70 level sun screen and feel and look great.... Such a deal. I think the cost of one Mystic session is about $25.00.
The really cool part is I can book and change appointments on line... I go about every 3 - 4 days.... and for the cost I am really a happy camper.
The staff in wonderful, helpful, great customer service, fantastic hours of operation, very clean on all levels......
UPDATE - Okay so talk about Customer Service... after I wrote the review in my mail box I got this letter from the owner..... I am impressed..... (see below). I never met him. Just one more reason why they are GREAT!!

I'm totally outing myself here. Go see Chiara for the most fab airbrush tan ever. I haven't been outside much this summer, well at least I stay in the shade when I do go out. Chiara hooked my pale ass up with a nice even golden glow for my cousin's wedding. I was horrified about the whole process.
step 1: get naked and suck in
step 2: in comes a total stranger
step 3: hold your breath and hope not to look like an oompa loompa with dirty knuckles.
Chiara nailed it. Made me feel totally comfortable while I stood there in my most vulnerable, how I came into this world state.
I will never tan given my Irish freckle roots, but I can fake it a few times a year now.
Oh and they use South Seas tan products which are the BEST! No funny smell, no dripping and barely any rub off unless you are dry humping your white couch naked or something. -

Quite easily the most wonderful tanning salon I have EVER been to. Each room is careful thought out, the staff is helpful, sincere, and friendly, and the prices are unbeatable, especially considering it feels more like a spa than a normal tanning salon.
I regularly use their Mystic Tanning, and always have fabulous results. Everything is also extremely clean, and I am always thrilled with the service. However, my recent airbrush tan with Chiara now has me hooked. Not only did she make me feel comfortable, I got the most AMAZING tan (10 tens long!) at a reasonable price.
Why go anywhere else? I recommend this place to all of my friends. -

This salon is clean, well presented, and prompt.
Plus they offer free tan days about once a month - fantastic little perk for regular clients.
I usually do the mystic tan, but once in a while will get an airbrush tan. They have this cute little pink studio for your airburshing.
Highly recommend Pacific Tan. -

I tanned here tonight for the first time. If I had paid it would have been minus star for actually spending money but a free tan in an awesome bed with a bottle of water and a yummy cookie, please, who could bitch?
Britney showed me around, she was great friendly and not pretentious as I might of expected after reading the previous review.
Also I came in my comfy Sunday clothes (basically whatever wasn't in the wash at the moment) and I was treated very, very well.
Let's see.. the decor was great. REALLY funny, but very tasteful in a kooky kind of way, basically I am not sure how to describe it, the place was fun and full of character.
For the beds that are $50, those beds are super high tech and filter out all the harmful rays (whichever one is bad, UVA or UVB, not quite sure.) The website is pretty helpful in explaining all of this and I am sure if you have questions, someone at the salon could help.
Yes very very expensive, will I be back? Hopefully when I can afford it!

Fantastic. I have never been here before--and the first visit was extremely amazing. I tried the Euphoria bed for eight minutes and the color was perfect!
The lounge is beautiful. The rooms are clean and nice. The bathroom is clean and gorgeous. The staff is friendly and pleasant. And there is a corner of special accessories for touch up lotion, hairspray, etc, as well as a table with snacks and drinks!
Definitely found where I will be getting my tan on! -

I don't reside in Marin anymore,but when I did,this was the place I'd tan the most (prior to working at "Sunteez"..don't bother on that one)
The staff are fabulous,professional,friendly and very helpful.They don't push any packages or products,yet are helpful if you need any.
The place itself is amazing.Sure,it's not the cheapest place around,but the beds actually work!!!!
I refer everyone I know in Marin if they need the best tan and want to indulge,to go to PT.Make sure you make an appointment as they're always busy.

I tried this place once for my first tanning session and have never tried anywhere else, I love Pacific Tan so much.
First of all, they have all sorts of great packages to make your tanning plan affordable--and if you just want to try it out and have never been before, you can tan for free!
The place is gorgeous--very heavy on the decoration and extremely inviting and relaxing. The service is superb. The girl who works there is very sweet and offers a selection of cookies or water or candy for you, a little touch I really appreciate!
Bottom line - they treat you very well here. It feels like you're at a spa.
And the results are fabulous! Ten minutes later I look like I just came back from Hawaii! -

Oh my GOD! Coming here is like dying and going to heaven. This place is five star all the way. Before I had my children I went once a week (some times twice) just for that 8 minutes of pure relaxation.
The only bad thing about the place is you cant stay in those beds longer, regardless I always leave feeling refreshed & revitalized.
My favorite room is the Ahwahnee (especially on rainy or cold days), you should try them all I have... -

I used to frequent the beds at Pacific Tan in high school. Now I only go for the magical airbrush tans. All of the artists are great and the tans always turn out absolutely flawless. Plus, I love, love, love the South Seas line of products that they have for sale to maintain my tan. I'd get one every week if I could :)

i don't tan often, but when i do i go to pacific tan. i've never been anywhere else and i'm not motivated to bother trying because i'm very happy with pacific tan.
the only reason i ever did the tanning bed thing was because a few years ago my gold's gym membership came with a free tan from pacific tan. i went, i was happy, i went once more. last year and this year, same thing - free tan with membership.
this year i've decided to even keep tanning a few more times because i discovered their amazing student discount (it's almost 50% off!) which enables me to afford a few extra tans. people say that pt is more expensive than other places, but their student discount totally makes it worth it.
their place is very pretty, they always have free cookies and water, you can make apts online (http://www.pacifictan.com) and again, the student discount! -

Pacific Tans please expand. We need you in the east bay. I used to tan here frequently when I worked in Marin. I loved this place. My favorite bed was the Shangri La. The bed is amazing and free oxy bar. The hospitality table is a nice bonus. I love that you offer a few little extras in the rest room. Last time I was there they offered salon grade products and styling tools. These are just a few of the many extra touches you will notice at Pacific Tans!

SOOOOO FABULOUS!!!!!!
I can not rave about this place enough.
The absolute BEST tanning salon I have ever been to. And believe me, I've been to 20+ places from SF to Los Angeles.
The staff is friendly, helpful, and upbeat.
They don't force you to buy expensive packages. They are able to answer ANY silly question you have regarding your tan.
The place is BEAUTIFUL. From the fresh floating gardenias in the restrooms to the turtle pond with REAL LIVE KOI FISH in the Shangri-La room. It's seriously unbelievable.
Their mystic tan is around $25 and they use the best kind of mystic solution in Marin. I wouldn't mystic anywhere else other than here.
The Shangri- La bed is an unbelievable experience. This 20 minute bed comes with complimentary bottled water, the koi pond, soothing music, and the best- an oxygen bar! Try the lavendar. Its to die for.
AND they give student discounts.

I still remember the first time I tanned here. I was working at a tanning salon in southern california and Pacific Tan left me speechless. 6 years later, I have yet to walk in to a nicer salon. The decor is beautiful and relaxing, and the beds are fantastic. They change their bulbs every 500 hours (unlike other salons that change every 1000 hours or worse yet, buy used bulbs). I now live in SF and sadly, I rarely make it over to Marin to tan here. However, my loss is your gain - I highly recommend Pacific tan to everyone I know that likes to tan. I've even gotten my friends to agree to take an evening excursion out to Marin JUST to experience all that Pacific Tan has to offer. Pacific Tan is on an entirely different level than every other tanning salon. Well worth the money! By the way, did I mention, Free Tan Day?

I have been going to Pacific Tan for over 7 years now and it only keeps getting better. The service is impeccable, the beds are by far the cleanest, high quality beds I have ever tanned in and the prices are reasonable. If you are a member you can book an appointment right online which is fast and simple. No where can ever compare to Pacific Tan!!!

I just started going to Pacific Tan but wish I had know about it a long time ago- it is sooo much better than my old tanning place in Mill Valley! I love how clean it is, everyone is very professional, and each room is decorated with a different theme. Chiara did an awesome job with my air brush tanning and made me feel really comfortable. I also got to experience my first "free tan" day for customers which was awesome! Definitely recommend this place!

This is the best tanning salon I have ever been to: the people who work there are always nice, and very accommodating, the prices are reasonable, their beds are amazing (fab selection!), lots of parking, beautiful decor, lovely atmosphere, and they keep my tanning accelerator there for me! Every time I go there they make me feel like a VIP, and I leave feeling relaxed and like I've been to the spa, not just to lay in a tanning bed. I almost don't want to share this review because then I may not be able to get appointments!

I have been coming to Pacific Tan for 7 years and have not found a better tanning salon. I now live in San Francisco and come all the way to Corte Madera just to tan. The service is impeccable, and it feels great to walk in and be greeted by my first name every time. I recommend this place to everyone!

This is the Bellagio of tanning salons. My friend brought me here and I was amazed. First of all, its sparkling clean and decorated beautifully. You have to see it to believe it. I am posting some photos of one of the rooms that has fountains and beautiful art. They offer free bottled water, apples, coffee, cookies. Are you kidding me? I don't know how expensive it is because my friend invited me but if you can afford it -- this is the place to go.

Absolutely fabulous! Seriously, GO NOW! As soon as you walk in, you are put at ease by the lovely decor and the friendly staff. All of the beds and equipment are totally clean (which is a major thing for me) and when you're done, oh look, complimentary water, coffee, and cookies. I seriously don't think this place can get any better!

This place is *AMAZING* the rooms are decorated so beautifully and imaginiatively you really feel like you are in Tahoe/at sea/in heaven. It is immaculate, the people that work there are really nice, and it has all the little comforts of home that will ensure you become addicted and can't wait to come back i.e. top of the line products, and gardenias in a waterfall in the bathroom! Like everyone else will tell you, hands down, it's the best.

This is the nicest tanning salon I've ever been to. Both the environment and the employees are extremely classy. I went in this past weekend and received an airbrush tan by Chiara. I have been rather pale my entire life, and can NOT believe how bronzed I look! I never thought I'd be comfortable enough to "bare all" for the sake of a tan, but thanks to Chiara's professional demeanor and bright personality, I was at ease and am SO glad I did it! I wish I had somewhere to wear a swim suit- and I have honestly never said that before!

This place runs like a clock! I never have to wait for my appointment. The free tanning sessions are unmistakably generous in this economy. Staff is always friendly and the beds are always clean. This is a great business.

I love the mystic tan booth! The staff here is really nice, they never judge you for being vain and wanting a tan and they are very accomodating with scheduling and pricing. Also - the tanning booths and the spray booth areas are kept VERY clean. They put fresh goggles, towels, hair protectors and a hersheys kiss out for each new guest. They also have tea and fruit for guests on their way out. Love this place!

They have since hired additional staff, Savannnah at the front desk and Danielle for airbrush tanning. Savannah is truly a gem! AWESOME customer service whether over the phone or in person. And while I have to admit the airbrush tan from Danielle was not totally flawless, I was very pleased with how deep the tan was and how it came out overall. She also did her best to start conversation and make the situation less awkward. (Hello, standing there butt nekkid in front of a stranger!) Anyway, if you are not 100% satisfied with your tan, they guarantee their tans and will fix it for you for free. I am not always able to come back to the salon but when I mention what wasn't so perfect about the last tan they always make sure to fix it on the next one. I've also had contact with Arlan who does his best to make sure that all his customers are happy. In addition, they have a wonderful online appointment system for ease in making and modifying appointments, as well as email confirmations of all your bookings and changes. And the salon is just so nice and clean! Thanks, Pacific Tan, for giving my pasty self a nice golden glow and providing great customer service!

I had a horrible experience, I received a spray-on tan the day before flying to Singapore to start a 19 day cruise. I followed all the instructions and waited to shower until the next day. When I arrived in Singapore it was hot and humid. I began to perspire. My white bloue and bra were stained brown. They were ruined . I would never have a " spray " Tan.

i think the rating says it all. not only is the ambiance and staff first rate but the quality and selection of tanning modalities, as well as (and almost more importantly) the knowledge the staff possesses about tanning (it's not as simple as one might think), is unparallelled.
