Christine Jarc from PBS is the Doula of all Doulas...I cannot recommend her enough. When we first started planning for our birth we didn't totally get what a doula could do for us and my husband, especially, was not convinced we needed a doula. Boy. was he wrong and were we glad we had one.
Put it this way... its your body, but once you're in labor there is so much poking and prodding and a multitude of "things' to be checked you need someone to help navigate all of the decisions that need to be made. Trust me... I had a 30 hour labor and 4 hours of pushing, there were a lot of decisions to be made and I wasn't exactly coherent enough to understand what we were saying "yes" to but when push came to shove (literally) it was Christine I wanted, with my husband, of course, in the operating room with me. And when it was all over my husband went with the new baby, and it was Christine who stayed by my side during 2.5 hours of recovery. Call her ,you will be glad you did.

This was my original post:  "Unfortunately I did not have the best experience with Christine Jarc as a doula.  If you are considering hiring her and need further details feel free to send me an email though yelp."

As you can see I do not give any information about my birth (which by the way was an incredible experience, that I wouldn't have changed for the world), unless someone wants to ask me personally.  Since I posted this, there have been two posts and one email from "different people"  attacking my review (both have been taken down).  Funnily, they seem to cite information that I didn't mention in my review, information that only one person might be able to speculate about.  Who is this person, you might ask?  Well, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that they are actually written by Christine herself.  This is what makes me angry, and why I have knocked her down to one star, from the generous 2 stars I gave her before.  It has been more than a year and a half since my son was born and I am seriously still having to deal with her?!?!  

Just want to clarify, "Elizabeth R."-  I do not have a chip on my shoulder, I do not "blame the doula" (I think doulas are great!), I did take my prenatal classes and attended meetings.    My issue with Christine was not that she wasn't there for my birth, in fact we are so incredibly grateful that she didn't make it in time because it was such a wonderful experience without her.  What I do have an issue with is that she writes fake reviews for herself, and that she made inappropriate comments about various things during our contract with her, and that when she actually arrived at the hospital, she parked herself on a chair and started talking about herself and her own "stuff!"...HELLO, trying to bond with my baby here!!!!   We kept trying to give her hints that we wanted family time and that she could leave and she wouldn't pick up on them.  She didn't even try to help me with breast feeding, it was the nurse that did that.  

To top it all off, she came by a week later with a "report" of her "work" with us and it was full of meetings and phone calls that never happened, and I'm positive she did it so we wouldn't argue about paying her the remainder of her fee.  Well, even though we probably had grounds to not pay her the remainder of it, we were way too exhausted at that time and just wanted her to be out of our lives as soon as possible, so of course we cut her a check and didn't make a fuss about it.
 
Seriously, I want to be over this, but every time I see another fake review (ahem, five stars, no photo, no friends, and no personal information) that is attacking my review and seems to have way more information about me than I've given out, I am going to fight back.  I am not a mean or negative person (read my other reviews, since I actually HAVE  SOME), and you'll see that this is incredibly out of character for me.
