What can I say? These guys saved my sanity and probably a lot more.
I had been dizzy for a couple months. Oh... not slightly dizzy but wicked bad dizzy make you fall down kind of dizzy. In their literature I found words to describe it: violent vertigo.
I had been to a chiropractor and an acupuncturist for treatment neither of which were creating significant enough change. And don't get on the whole western doc thing. I've now heard many stories from folks who took that path and were also not diagnosed (and put through many expensive tests.) It was the acupuncturist who gave me a vague recommendation that it might be fixable through physical therapy (but she didn't know of anyone specifically and didn't know the name of the condition.)
Anyway, I did my searching on the internet and finally found some stuff that looked like it was what I was looking for and thus I made it to the Pacific Balance web site. I really appreciated that they had photos and information about their practitioners.
I called 'em up and they managed to get me in relatively soon with the person I wanted. She was amazing. She was gentle and listened to me and really seemed to understand what I was experiencing. Which, upon reflection was quite traumatic. (At the time I was just managing to get by.)
And, she fixed me! It took a few times of going but I felt amazing results after the first treatment.
Yeah. I know you all have been waiting for the diagnosis! Wait no more it is BPPV for short and Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo for long.
I don't feel like I can express my gratitude enough for both Pacific Balance and Julie. They really came through for me.
Some other stuff:
Parking is easy.
The waiting area has tons of reading material including lots of stuff on balance.
Their equipment is stellar.
All the folks there rock!
I couldn't be more grateful for being referred to Julie Grove at Pacific Balance, by a savvy ENT, when I was hit with a "double whammy" - vestibular neuritis AND BPPV. Julie was born to do what she does. Not only a fine balance therapist, she is a fine human being, who possesses all the necessary empathy to care for her clients/patients. I left her care, after six weeks, with all the exercises I need to help myself should another episode of dizziness occur. These exercises are actually helpful to me, with or without dizziness!
