It seems to me that Ozzies Pizza is getting a bit of a bad rap here. The food may not be that fancy, but really: This is a very cheap pizza place that makes decent pizza, and these one-star reviews that I'm seeing here seem way to harsh. We ordered a pizza for takeout and it was quite tasty. It had ample toppings, our kids loved it, and everyone was full and satisfied afterward.

Two caveats: We did not order for delivery, and as some reviewers have suggested, they might well have a tendency to screw that up (as do quite a number of restaurants around Coolidge Corner). And their non-pizza food might be as bad as some say, I just don't know. But there is definitely nothing wrong with their pizza.

I attempted to order from Ozzie's off of Foodler from work - on Newbury St. I was tipping the driver $1.50 off of my card... someone had the audacity to call me at work and ask me to tip the driver more money. Honestly, I understand the whole working for tips thing but you should NEVER call someone and ask them for more money! That's just poor customer service.

Never will even ATTEMPT to order from here again after reading the rest of the reviews, either!

    Commence angry rant:

I was really looking forward to a night off from cooking and the boyfriend didn't want any of my usual sushi Foodlering so we ordered Ozzie's burgers, chicken fingers, and potato skins. Ok. Can't be so bad, right? Ha.

To start, the food took over and hour and a half to arrive. The usual Foodler estimates (about an hour) are usually right...and totally fair since this place is about a 5 minute drive away. The delivery person finally called, and was standing at a building half a block away from ours. Apparently the building numbers are indistinguishable...?

Avocado mushroom burger: Dry. Overcooked. Had sufficient mushrooms and yet only two, painfully thin slices of avocado. Two. Only about a quarter of an inch thick. I love avocado. I wanted avocado. I got TWO TEENY SLICES ON MY BURGER. If you advertise a burger that involves avocado, it should have more than that. (This is only a brief segment of the rant I had when I first opened the burger to discover the distinct lack of avocado...you should feel lucky that I've had some time to cool off). The bread was stale and way too big for the paltry burger. Oh, and it was cold.

Chicken fingers: Rough. Dry. Flavorless. Or, so says boyfriend. He was particularly grumpy because now he knows I'm going to use this choice (all his) against him in future Foodler orders.

Potato skins: A surprising amount of potato still left in the skin. A teeny tiny amount of bacon. Whaaa? Though, did come with an overwhelming saltiness that would totally satisfy if you're drunk.

In the end, I'd like to thank Ozzie's for giving me the upper hand in future Foodler decisions for at least the next two months. Sushi it is, my friends.

Working in Boston for the week and I decided to order delivery and mistakenly used grub http://hub.com which recommended Ozzie's.  I called what sounded to be a marble mouthed man and placed my order which he told me would take 45 minutes (a burger and a bowl of soup!?!?).  15 minutes later, I get a call back saying that I should call somewhere else, because there's too much traffic right now (3:30 PM on a Tuesday).  This place deserves every poor review it gets.

    Very mediocre food.
The meat lovers calzone was greasy and fell apart in your hands. It seemed to be almost all ham, very little of any other meats.
They give you no more than a thimble of marinara sauce, so definitely short-changed me on the dipping sauce.

Don't think I'll order from here again.

I should have read Yelp reviews before trying this place. It was 9 pm, just completed a 7-mile run and starving.  Enter Ozzies

The place seemed sketchy---not taken care of. Should have gone with my instinct and walked out. But survival-instinct kicked in, "we need to eat".

Ordered grilled chicken ceasar wrap (8.00) and large order fries (4.00).  I felt ripped off cuz the fries were definitely not true-to-size.  The wrap was huge but tasted funny; not sure whether it was the lettuce or the chicken.  Needless to say, I threw away 75% of it.

Charges haven't posted on my bank card yet, but really hoping I don't have any issues like other yelpers.

This is easily the most dishonest and poorly run restaurant in the Boston area and I'm shocked that it hasn't been closed down for fraud. Food arrives cold and undercooked and up to two hours late. Good luck getting a refund.

    Stay away.

should have read the other reviews before i bothered ordering. the food was meh and was nothing like the descriptions on the menu (our wrap lacked a promised sauce, and the fries were just fries, not "big, homemade fresh cut" fries as promised.

we ordered chocolate milk, and they sent apple juice, which my fiance hates. we ordered cookies and they just didn't send them at all. i called back to have them send the cookies, and the person on the phone was completely lost and befuddled and has no idea how to rectify the situation. he told me he would call me back when he figured it out. yikes.

don't bother eating here, it's a waste of time and money :(

Not going to order from this place again.  Delivery took an hour and twenty minutes.  Delivery driver refused to bring the food up to my apt just as every other driver from other establishments have in the past.  I asked him if he could to which he asked if I would tip him.  I explained I already tipped him $2 plus there is a $2 delivery fee.  He said my tip of $2 on a $15 bill was not enough.  He complained about gas prices.  I said no problem and went down and got the food.  When I opened the box of pizza it was clear that the driver had shook the box.  The pizza was completely a mess all the cheese was everywhere and barely edible.

    Buyer Beware!

Let me help you out here.  If you are thinking of ordering from Ozzies, call me instead and I'll come over in 20 minutes and hit you over the head with a 2X4 and charge you $20 for it.  And you will be more satisfied with that then you would be with ordering from Ozzies.  Food came nearly 2 hours after we ordered and was below-average at best.  Avoid at all cost!

ok first off, never order delivery. they take an hour and a half and the food is absolutley dead when it gets there.  the 'tsaitziki' sauce tastes like sour cream and not greek yogurt with all sorts of yummy flavors going on.  they always mess up the orders and then HANG up on you when you call to try to get your order fixed.  whoever deems this food edible has absolutely no taste buds in there mouths.  chicken tenders dry and overcooked, the rice tastes like its over two weeks old (sour rice....gross). yup, i am never again ordering from there

I should have read the reviews before ordering from this place. We ordered at 7:05 and were told it would be here by 8. At 8:12, Ozzie's called and said it would be "15 minutes. The driver is stuck in traffic". 8:49, my food finally showed up. The driver wouldn't come up to my apt, and he made us come down stairs, even after we told him how to buzz in. I can understand traffic, but it shouldn't take 2 hours to get from Brookline to my neighborhood.
The food was luke warm. The "steak tip" salad looked like pulled apart pieces of steakum. The mozzarella sticks leaked, so most of the cheese was out of the stick. The buffalo chicken tenders were only partially coated and soggy. The calzone was OK. It was, however, not good enough to order again.
Never order from this place! You're better off paying Domino's delivery fee (same amount $1.50) and you can watch online as they prep, bake, and deliver your pizza. Why oh why did I ever cheat on Domino's?

I have a fever, I could hardly get out of bed yesterday, I could hardly eat. By about 9 o'clock, I felt hungry, but I couldn't find the energy to move, and I was only craving junk food. So, I looked this place up on line and placed an order, which they accepted and responded that it would be delivered within one hour, so by 10 o'clock.

At 9:55 the delivery guy calls me and tells me that he has my order, but I'm outside their delivery range. So, I asked to speak to the manager. I had no intention of asking them to deliver it anyway because if they have a delivery policy, there's nothing I can do about it. However I did think the manager should know: (1) what website has the wrong information about the delivery zone; (2) that at least one employee incorrectly accepted an order knowing what my address was. These are things that I think the manager should know about to prevent problems in the future.

However, did he let me speak? NO. He picked up the phone and began yelling at me like a crazy person. He didn't even make any sense.

He yelled, "No! No! No delivery! 12 miles only! No one wants to deliver to you! I can't make anyone deliver! No! No delivery! 12 miles! 12 miles!"

He just kept repeating the same things and yelling and he wouldn't pause long enough to hear that I wasn't asking him to deliver the order that he had accepted. I hadn't eaten all day, I had a fever, and he just kept yelling at me.

I've never been yelled at by anyone in the food service industry. This would make him, by far, without a doubt, the worst person I have ever interacted with in the food service industry, in fact, in any service industry.

He was unprofessional, irrational and overly emotional. This is the sort of behavior that I would expect from an impotent male who's only sense of power came from shutting out girls by screaming at them. His job is to accept orders and deliver them. If he can't deliver what he accepts he's both unreliable and a failure at his job.

This gives a new meaning to one star for me. I should go increase the rating of every other place I've given one star to because they can't possibly be as bad as this.

Why can't I give zero, or negative stars?!

I had great success with Ozzie's the first time or two that I ordered. I found them online and gave 'em a shot. The owner answered the phone after hours, promised to deliver, and did so. He also brought great food! I was quite pleased.

Since then the service and food quality has gotten progressively worse. But nothing like tonight.

For the first time ever they tacked on a delivery charge which I did not argue. They also tacked on a small cheese pizza, though.. Ya know, in case I'd gotten a craving for one after ordering delivery food. Hell no. The very polite and kind delivery driver called the shop for me, and I told them I did not order, did not want, and would not pay for this extra pizza. In reply, I got, "ARGHH.. You order pizza. No? No? Really? OK. You pay only for half of it."

    HELL NO.

The food was awful, the service (via phone) was deplorable, and they tried forcing me to pay for something I did. not. order.

There isn't much that could be worse than FORCING. SOMEBODY. TO. PAY. FOR. SOMETHING. THEY. DID. NOT. ORDER. Or even trying to do so.

So, in summation, Ozzie's can suck it. Hard. And when they do, I will charge them. Because thats how I feel I was treated by these douches.

OF COURSE my credit card was charged for food I never received. I called and the person who answered the phone was extremely unhelpful and rude. I proceeded to call Foodler, who immediately refunded all of my money. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I can't even comment on the food because I have never and will never taste it.

I came in here after work one night, starving. I thought it would be a fast joint. Unfortunately, I waited quite a while and went from starving to super starving.

The man working the counter was extremely friendly. The falafel wrap was gigantic and a good deal. It was also tasty. I'll be back, but I probably won't wait until I'm that hungry again.

    M. raved about Ozzie's for the longest time (eventually he realized that it was probably the fact that he had not eaten for over 24 hours that made it so good), so I suppose I had some high expectations.  I, personally, have had Ozzie's twice. Both times they came LONG after  the estimated time and BOTH times they got our order wrong.

I don't even remember what we ordered, but don't waste your time. Their pizza is dry and usually arrives cold or semi-cold. You're probably better off just walking to your nearest neighborhood pizzeria. Unless that's Ozzie's, of course.

Once upon a time, I was a college student stranded in spring break housing with a massive appetite and nothing to satisfy it. An Ozzie's pizza saved the day.

That was more than two years ago. Since then, I have ordered Ozzie's four separate times, trying to replicate that pizza experience -- being a New York pizza snob, it's hard to find a quality pizza in Boston, so if somewhere provides it that shop gets a long leash).

Of those four orders -- two called in by phone, two placed via CampusFood -- only one took less than an hour to arrive. None of the orders were correct when they arrived. It takes a special kind of awful to be that bad at delivery.

And it takes a special kind of awful for me to pull out the one-star rating. Even Beijing Café warranted two stars. So... congratulations, Ozzie's? You earned it.

Delivery took, get this, 2 hours and 45 minutes! Food started out as the cheapest possible solution to something that could be called by the name of cheeseburger, and by the time it got here it was basically inedible. I'm really not picky, but this was the worst takeout I've had in years & years. Stay away from this place.

We've ordered from Ozzie's before and never had a complain. The staff is always friendly over the phone and believe or not they never get lost trying to find our place. There are places in Central Square we ordered from that almost always get lost getting to our place.

Last Friday we ordered Buffalo Calamari Kalamata pizza  and The Havana Burger. Well, let me say this... it was as we've died and went to heaven. The pizza was without a doubt one of the best we've ever had. The burger was excellent as well.

The only bad thing is that they are so good that the wait for delivery is very long but I guess we have to ask ourselves this question...Do we want it quick or do we want it good...get your minds out of the gutter I am talking about food.

If you are looking for attentive and mindful service, this is probably not your place.

    BUT...

The pizza is quite good. I ate at their restaurant so I probably by-passed some of the problems other people had with delivery. As far as pizza goes, this was better than Upper Crust and a lot of the other places in the Brookline-Brighton area. Finally I found a place that puts enough cheese on their pizza and bakes it long enough...

I should mention too that while the service kind of sucked while we were dining, the guy was super friendly while we we checked out and we actually had a nice, extended conversation with him. I think like a lot of us, he is just sick of his job and it affected his service.

If you're in a hurry to eat, this really isn't the place.  However, if you're ok with calling in and ordering, going there to pick up, and then waiting about 15 extra minutes for your order to be ready, then you're in luck.

Luckily, the few times that I've gotten food here I wasn't starving, so my patience was fairly high.  One night, I called and ordered a falafel wrap, and went in about 15 minutes later to pick it up.  It hadn't been made yet.  Not a problem, I said, I'll just hang out. It was on the later side - maybe around 9pm - so I was the only one there.

If anything, the owner (I assume) was very nice. He even made me try the homemade hummus (he said he makes it from scratch every day) as well as a piece of falafel (also homemade) while I waited. Both were delicious, so I didn't mind that it was taking longer than usual.

Despite the long-ish wait, the wrap was exactly what I wanted and at a pretty reasonable price.  I haven't had anything else from the menu, but I wouldn't hesitate getting the falafel from here again.

Placed an order with this store online, and was told it would be 35-40 minutes for delivery. After 45 minutes I called the store to just check in, the person told me the delivery guy had forgotten our drinks and so was on his way back to get them, and he would be there in 10 minutes. Another half hour goes by, and still nothing. I call again. This time the delivery guy has JUST left a few minutes ago and would be there shortly. After another 10-15 minutes, I get a call from the delivery person. "Did you order Ozzies?" "Yes, are you downstairs" "COME GET YOUR FOOD".

I walked outside, and the delivery guy more or less tossed my food at me and ran off.

Excited to eat our food, we dig in. The fries are ice cold. I suppose that's what happens when it takes an hour to get 2 subs, 2 orders of fries, and 2 sodas to somebody.

There are plenty of other places in the area to order from. I wouldn't recommend this place (especially if you want to eat fresh, hot food any time soon).

I've ordered food from Ozzie's many times and I'm surprised by the negative reviews. I think most of the negative reviews have to do with food that was ordered online and delivered which two things I've never done when ordering from Ozzie's, so maybe that has something to do with it.

I ususally order calzones and I have no complaints. The food is always fresh out of the oven and they've never messed up my order. And it's quite tasty! My usual is the buffalo chicken calzone, although the bbq chicken and florentine calzones are also very yummy! The guy who is always working is really nice and always remembers me, and always makes a point to show me the food before I leave the store to make sure it is what I ordered and meets my expectations.

This place is about a 3 minute walk from my apartment, so if I'm in the mood to have pizza/calzones this is my go-to spot! I would definitely recommend it.

    NEVER, EVER AGAIN!

I am recovering from a car accident, and mind you the driver of this car has no injuries, so I am the one that is stuck on New Year's Eve, at home, watching every movie on Fearnet, because I cannot stand. I decided to get my order from Ozzie's, and placed it at 8:55pm. I was craving a Steak and Cheese, a piece of Tiramisu, and Iced Tea. I'm VERY patient, and I'm even more understanding, because of the condition of the weather, since there was a snow storm earlier that day. Here is the list that went ABSOLUTELY wrong, and why I would NEVER recommend this place to not even my worst enemy when they are starving:

    1) There is a 60 minute delivery time I was given by http://Campusfood.com where I placed the order, but I called at 10:27pm from placing my order at 8:55pm, because it STILL was not here, and considering Harvard Street is literally the next street over. The man that answered the phone clearly said it will be here in 10 minutes, and that if I wanted to place anymore orders, they are no longer taking any orders, because they were closing. Useless information.

    2) The time was now 11:12pm, so I called back Ozzie's, because I was frustrated at this point. I had my boyfriend on the phone to listen to this phone call, and he could not believe what he had to hear. The person who took the phone call the first time was the same as this one, and I later made him give me his name, which was Chaudrey, who was the cook, and while I made the point of their location from where I lived, as well as the fact that I've been STARVING for over 2 hours, he retorted very nastily, "WELL, I DON'T CARE IF YOU NEVER ORDER FROM US AGAIN. I'M THE ONE THAT'S COOKING, AND IT'S JUST ME AND DRIVER TONIGHT, SO THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO ABOUT THIS!" I almost replied back that it REALLY isn't my problem how many people or whom was working! I WANT MY FRIGGIN' FOOD!

    3) I EMPHASIZED at this point that I work at the Front Desk of Holiday Inn-Brookline, and that I refered Ozzie's and PRAISED them to our guests who stay with us, and are mostly relatives or patients of the Longwood Medical Area, so they are usually stuck at the hotel to order take out, especially late at night, when Ozzie's is open until midnight. This was when I asked him for his name, and he replied "FOR WHAT?!" I replied "So that in the future, I can tell your manager who was helping me today". He told me his name was Chaudrey, and no, I was going to obviously tell his manager he was ATROCIOUS to me.

    4) When the food finally came, the driver just HAPPENED to be the owner of Ozzie's named Moustafah, and I repeated that I worked for the HOliday Inn, in which he acknowledged the fact that I looked familiar, including my horrific customer service experience with Chaudrey. He apologized, and told me that every time I called Ozzie's, I can order at no charge. Of course, that's always a good way to calm your customer, and I know this from experience with irate guests at my hotel. So everything seems good at this time.

    5) When I finally ripped the bag open like a hungry primitive, I realized that my steak and cheese was ICE cold, and it was missing the mayo and ketchup I had asked for, since I don't have any in the meantime. They packed me a mousse cake instead of Tiramisu, and gave me a Pepsi instead of the Iced Tea. I ate the sub anyway, because I had no choice, I was FAMISHED! I no longer wanted to call Ozzie's, because of my previous experience, and at that moment I have decided that I will no longer take Moustafah's offer of free food, that I would not stoop to that low to keep getting trashed on by a business that I helped gain business. I am definitely going to contact http://Campusfood.com to refund me my entire payment, and I will throw out every menu of Ozzie's at Holiday Inn-Brookline, and inform my colleagues to not taint themselves with refering aweful service to our guests, and it will just come back to us at the end of it all.

    Yo, what?!?
What is this 5 star baloney? This gal is baffled. I am seriously wondering whether the previous reviewer is talking about some other Ozzie's. I almost don't even want to waste the time it would take to elaborate why this is the worst pizza place I have ever been to; I just want to tell you not to go. Ever.
Nevertheless... I will elaborate, because I got to Yelp it out.
Clearly, I find the food to be filthy greasy and always over-cheesed but under seasoned. And never tastes the same from occasion to dining occasion. Beyond that, not only are they not nice on the phone, but they are extremely not nice in person. I am sincerely afraid to go in there sometimes. Moreover, they are really not nice to each other. The big boss is always yelling at his lesser dudes, and even though Ozzie's seems to have next to no business, everyone is always scurrying about all frantic like. The prices are always going up and the menu gets smaller and smaller. There is also a perpetual Help Wanted sign in the window.
What I'm saying is, Ozzie's is a pretty troubled establishment. Like MJB told me - No More Drama. Sticking to Inbound or Cookin' Cafe from now on.

    EDIT:
down to two stars from five. ozzie's started out great, but then the owner completely switched around the pizza (seemingly much worse in every way) and started charging MORE for it! what happened, ozzie? seriously. it's still slightly better than most of the pizza places near allston, but i will never choose ozzie's over pizzawings, upper crust or even inbound pizza.

I searched near and far for the perfect pizza pie in Boston. Time after time i was sadly disappointed by dryness, blandness, inconsistencies, poor quality cheese, tasteless sauce...the list goes on.

Then one night my friends from Brookline were joking around about getting two pies from their good ol' friend Ozzie. "It's really terrible pizza, but it's the cheapest around," they said. "Well fuck," I said. "I'm broke. Let's do it."

So we did it. And oh God, I'm glad we did.

I can confidently say this is the best plain pizza I've ever had in Boston. But let me be clear here: Ozzie makes pretty greasy pizza. So, obviously, if you don't like greasy pizza do not go to Ozzie's. However, it tastes soooooo good, you might as well try it once. Or dab it with napkins to get rid of the grease or something.

Also I must point out that Ozzie doesn't have a super cheap double plain pizza special anymore. You only save about a dollar on it these days. But my friends and I are totally hooked - that was clearly Ozzy's plan...to suck us into his double plain pizza world and then run away with our money. Well done, Ozzie. Well done.

i'll give them two stars because they deliver to me in JP after 11pm on a saturday night when absolutely no one else does (except for Primo Brothers Pizza, which i would totally recommend over this place).

my sister and i placed an order at 11:11 through grubhub, and got a confirmation that said our order would arrive by 12:04.  12:04 arrives and passes.  12:15 i call both numbers listed for ozzies, no one picks up.  at 12:30 we are angry and let down and resorting to uncooked ramen and frozen french fries.  at 12:40, i get a phone call from a very frazzled delivery boy who ran by my door, dropped off the food and ran the other way.  i  guess i would be running too if my deliveries were over a half hour behind.

the food was underwhelming.  my sister's chicken parm was rubbery, my lamb gyro was flat patties of lamb and like 3 chunks of pepper.  gross.  no thanks ozzies, 2 stars.  i'll settle for cold ramen and frozen french fries next time.

Is it really that hard to find a good gyros in this town? Really?  REALLY!?  I'm talking a serious, real gyros...you know, the huge chunk of lamb/beef/whatever hanging from a stick that the guy has to shave off with a huge knife...served on a fresh pita with onions and cucumber yogurt?  Please somebody help me!  Where in Boston can I find a good, traditional Greek gyros!!?!

Their pizza is crunchy and crisp. It's tasty. But that's if you're lucky and get it the time they say they'll hand it over. 90% of the time, regardless of whether you call in beforehand or call in for delivery, your pizza is normally not ready/on time which means that once it gets to you, it's not very crispy or yummy anymore. The inconsistency causes me to never order from here anyway so I guess if it were up to me, they'd be getting 1.5 stars.
