Review Highlights
Good food at a reasonable price, a offshoot of Ozeki Sushi.
I usually get the Katsu Don-A breaded pork cutlet dipped in egg served over rice and onions. I have this dish at other Japanese restaurants and there version rate with the best of them.
Shrimp tempura hand roll with soy paper are just OK. I don't understand why they leave the tail on ,in a hand roll.
Good prices and good service--will have me coming back.
One of my favorite places to eat.
I always get the dynamite shrimp roll (delicious!), and either the udon combination with beef bowl or just the beef bowl by itself and i must have extra ginger for the beef bowl.
It's affordable, the food is fresh and presented neatly, and the staff are always very pleasant. I love this place.
I enjoyed the impressive diversity of the menu and the warmth of the staff. I though that the mall location was a bit funky but with pleasant decor. The problem was that I just didn't think what my wife and I ordered was better than OK - soba soup and soba noodles, with a too sweet burdock root appetizer.
Discovered this pleasant surprise today, nestled amongst national boring chain places in Oxnard! Came in for a late lunch with friends...
As usual, eyes were bigger than stomachs, so we ordered too much:
Started with the Octopus Balls (no, octopi do not have balls) they were fantastic pefectly fried and sauced dough balls with a tender inside and yummy bits of octopus, they were amazing.
Side of Kimchi was so good we ordered some to go (guess it's Korean owned?) Spicy tuna roll (not my thing) was very spicy and average at best, this is not a sushi joint, it's a noodle house and definitely excels at its specialty.
The cold noodle Hiyashi Gomoku salad with their homemade soba noodles and the hot Tempura Udon were both outstanding and high quality. The tempura was perfect and stood up nicely to the soup base which was perfect. They were pretty authentic, nothing seemed "dumbed down" for the Ventura County palette.
Well priced, great food... Really looking forward to coming back and trying more of the vast array of items on the menu.
I bumped into this place for a quick bite. The service is quick and friendly. The prices aren't half bad. I can tell they take care of their loyal customers as well.I will come back if I'm craving good japanese food (made by japanese)haha.
I decided to accompany my mom for a day of jury duty. After a whole morning wasted of just waiting, we decided to try out Ozeki for lunch.
Not even after 10 minutes of sitting down, the place was soon crackalackin' It's not the best tasting Japanese food I've had, but the price was fair. I ordered the tempura shrimp roll, which was packed more with artificial crab and rice than actual shrimp tempura. My mom ordered a chicken teriyaki bento box that came with 4 california's, heap of salad, and 2 gyoza's.
With our orders combined, we definitely left full, but not so much satisfied with the taste.
One of my favorite places to eat in the Ventura area. Their tempura udon is absolutely delicious and they never skimp when I ask for extra shitake. The price is very affordable. They have never given me any reason to question their restaurant and I have taken quite a few people there.
The wait staff is friendly and attentive. Depending on the time of day you visit it can be extremely packed or empty so I make sure to avoid lunch hours. I have ordered via pickup but the food is by far better when fresh from the kitchen.
Its not a high end restaurant, and could easily get mistaken for a chain like pick up sticks a few doors down, but for the price and the quality of food I give it five stars, easily.
Pretty decent for a fast food sushi place.
I was in town for work and didn't really know the area, but the name caught my attention.
They serve up rolls, chicken teriyaki, tempura, and bento box combinations. I had the Tuna sashimi salad and the cold soba noodles. The salad was ok, the noodles were good.
Overall, the service was quick and the staff was pretty friendly.
This place is as good as it gets without having to travel to Japan. It's a small place, but it's nice inside, and it's always clean. I get the Udon and Tuna Rolls, which are excellent, but my favorite thing there is the Gyoza. Their Gyoza is perfectly crispy on the outside and the filling is delicious. I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone.
#1 Japanese food in ventura county. On a cold day nice big bowl of hot noodle soup, sushi is fresh.Service is great, price just right.I'll be back again and again
You know going here is like a huge dose of comfort food. The servers are nice, the food is always good and I never get tired of the Octopus Balls and kimchee. Great food with a nice price. Dang, now I am hungry again...

You know it's funny I have been going to Ozeki Noodle since it first opened some years ago and for… Read more »
My boyfriend and I were craving for sushi and so we just headed to Ozeki.
It was 3:59 so I rushed to ask for a chicken terriyaki bento box for 8.50 because if it turns 4:00... We had to pay 11.50 for it haha..
I ordered a bbq beef don. it was hella good. Not fatty, with mushrooms and onions. It was so comforting.
I get the chicken bowl and shrimp tempura roll. I know I can get mochi ice cream at Trader Joe's for cheaper but I can't resist! The service is usually fast, and a lot of the waiters/resses are foreign exchange students at the local community college so their broken english is cute. It has a homey feel to it, never realy crowded.
Great place to take friends while continuing on roadtrips.
Something of a diamond in the rough.
Sure, the ambience is a bit unimpressive, but in an area sorely lacking in decent Asian food, I'm more out to scratch a gastronomic itch than to scrutinize atmosphere and decor when I come to Ozeki.
The food - there's no better way to put it - is scrumptious. I usually start with the takoyaki, and as the waitress brings it out, I can see the katsuobushi waving delicately back and forth. The scent hits my nose, and I'm flying. The big, steaming bowl of soba always satisfies too (sometimes they give me an extra fishcake!).
The restaurant is easily accessible, being just off the junction of the 101 and the PCH, so there's really no excuse not to come.
This is a very clean, hole in the wall spot in a shopping center. Do not be fooled by its commonplace appearance...though I've heard good things from a very reputable source about this place, my guard was up at first, but when the food came, I was more than impressed.
The menu has a wide variety of Japanese fare, and their beer/sake list is pretty good as well. I feel bad for my takoyaki loving lad, because no one wanted to share with him, and it seemed he can't down a whole plate on his own. But it sounds good in theory.
I have yet to try their maki rolls here, but I had a nice, large bowl of soup. It wasn't burn my tongue hot as I would have expected, and though I was persuaded to send it back, I was in "I WANT TO EAT NOW" mode (famous for eating microwave burritos with the middle still cold), and thought the lukewarm temp was perfect for downing it faster. I had the kitsune soba, which had beancurd triangles in it, I guess to resemble fox ears? I don't know, it was good, and I threw my unwanted fishcakes to the penguin sitting next to me.
Definitely a place to visit if you're in the neighborhood - and I can easily say it's a good reward after spending a good part of the day running errands/shopping in this area.
Great Japanese noodles at good prices. Strip mall meets friendly restaurant with really nice food.
Get the special with the California Roll thrown in for an extra $2 bucks.
Update: The Spicy Pork Bento Box Combo RULES!
The restaurant was really nice inside. There's a super-home feel vibe in the small restaurant. I've honestly gone by this place dozens of time and avoided eating there but I swear I'll stop. The people there are really friendly and its nice that you have a view of the small kitchen prep area from the register. Generally having someone cook for you is taken for granted but this was an honest humbling experience.
All I ate was a small chicken bowl and it was really yummy. My 4.50 also got me some warm miso soup on the side as well. The chicken was grilled nicely and the rice was nice and sticky....the way rice should be! hehe
I'd eat here again. It's a pretty good bang for the buck :)
Ozeki Noodle was a warm welcome for me in a place where there isn't really an authentic chinese restaurant for an hour's drive. The soba is delicious... I usually get the udon and the bf usually gets soba. Udon there is chewy in just the right way. The broth isn't too salty, and it's just a wonderful reminder of authentic asian cuisine.
Oh, and the waitresses look like anime girls!
I really like their sushi and cold udon. Although, I have probably ordered more dynamite rolls and yakisoba. The waitresses are pretty and cool, I think I even had classes with some at VC.
Just like the name...this place has great udon! I love their udon here; especially the seafood udon. There's a really good deal for udon and a bowl of teriyaki. It's so much food! For the amount of food you get, the price is great. I haven't tried anything else here except udon.
The food comes out pretty fast. The waiter service is ok, I think it could be a lot better.
Great place, Very clean, friendly service.
OMG! Tako Yaki! I haven't had that since I was in Maizuru, Japan. I can't believe I found some in Oxnard. Those soft delicate dumplings with a piece of octopus in the center covered with soy and shaved salmon, topped off with a small dollop of mayo. Authentic Japanese snack. I also sampled the Katsu Don (Pork cutlet with egg over rice). Quite a feast! Can't wait to go back!
One of my Japanese friend has a rule about Japanese restaurant.s It's gotta be Japanese own. THis little restaurant isn't fancy but clean and friendly. Keep in mind it's located in Oxnard, not a place a lot of things are happening (except crimes...seriously, there's some really gettos in Oxnard). But my point is, their food is kinda decent. Odon noodle is really well prepared, simple but yet softly chewy. My favorite is the tempura ice cream (Plum wine flavor)...oh man....tempura ice cream...how I long for you..........
My favorite place in Oxnard.
Great comfort food at even better prices.
My favorite is the Ten Zaru, the tempura is perfect, just enough batter and crispy, but nor greasy.
I moved to SD and I miss this place, nothing like it.
