Ok - this guy is mindblowing.  I'm a massage therapist as well, and I can tell you this is hands down the best massage I've had in my entire life!!

Not only will he make me a better healer by helping my body to feel good, but there's so much I learned from him that I'll be able to pass on to my clients as well.  I'll be seeing him regularly for maintence, I just know that he'll keep my body in good working order.

I'm grateful that I found him, I was in pain today and I have a feeling I am going to wake up tomorrow feeling a lot better!!   Thank you so much Adam!!

Let's put it this way: I joined Yelp specifically to write a review for these guys! I had my first massage about 2 weeks ago and I am still feeling the beneficial effects of it! Mandie is INCREDIBLE! Not only an amazing and knowledgeable masseuse (best massage I've ever had), but she has such a kind and relaxing spirit and presence! The entire experience was beneficial to my physical, mental, and emotional health. I booked another appointment the very next day and can't WAIT to get back!

Just got a massage. I feel great!

My massage was with Mandie. The first 5 minutes, we chatted about any problem areas, injuries, etc. The bed/table was comfortable and clean, the room at body temperature. Initially, there was funky Indian tantric music on, but she changed it to more mellow bird chirp and wave crashing music.

It was 90 minutes, and she went through the entire body. I felt it was a great balance of time per individual area. Didn't feel rushed, and finished on time.

Mandie also pointed out areas where she felt tension or imbalance, and root causes, and I have to say that they were all correct. For example, "you side tendons on the legs are tight. This is typical for runners."  or "your left leg's tendon is less tense" Me: "yes, that's because my right leg's alignment is slightly off". At the end, she recommended some stretches, etc to help with my problem areas.

I was expecting a much "harder" and more painful massage, but it was not painful at all.

As someone who has sufferred from chronic, recurring back pain and weakness since I was a teenager, I cannot say enough about how skilled, conscious, professional, thoughtful, purposeful and healing my experience with Oxygen massage has been.  I have a moderate to severe scoliotic "S" curve in my back, coupled with a disc herniation in the L5S1 region of my sacrum.  Adam Gordon's conscientious effort to work with the constant lowgrade pain caused by the state of torque in my muscular skeletal system has opened up a new area of treatment that I will forever be grateful to him for.  By the way, he has the hands of a god!

If you are looking to get back into your body due to an injury or trauma, this is the place to come.  If you are looking for some much needed stress relief from everyday demands of life, work, and even too much play, these are the practicioners who can help you.  If you just need to treat your body and soul to some much needed coddling, healing, and comfort, do not miss Oxygen Massage.

Can you tell I am a happy customer?

The online booking service is a serious plus too.  And the studio (22nd at Guerrero) is a lovely haven completely conducive to relaxing and letting go.  Adam has great taste in music too.

Check it!

I didn't get the guy.  It sounds like he's pretty good.  I had one of the girls who was just average and nothing at all to rave about.  Much more relaxing places out there.  Don't waste your money on the girl.

I've been going to Oxygen Massage Therapy for over a year and a half, with a particularly difficult to treat (and diagnose) repetitive strain injury from computer use that's been dogging me (and my doctors and physical therapists) for 5 years.  If you're looking for a therapist with the knowledge to really *treat* your particular physical issue, schedule an appointment or several appointments here.  You won't be disappointed.

Don't ever be afraid to try something[one] new.

Mandie was AMAZING and I would highly recommend her services to anyone. Her friendly professional manner eased the very small anxiety I had (only because I had not yet met with her before) and her technique is fabulous. I have definitely decided to schedule frequent appointments so that I always feel this good!

Oh man, I sooo needed a little TLC the other day: I was in the throes of stressful work week and awoke with a crick in my shoulders-- and then I got to sit at my desk all day.  Uncool all around.  Massage time.

Things that were Awesometown about Oxygen:

- Adam is a really nice, realxed human being.  I had no qualms being naked on a table (under blankets, of course).

- The table had a memory foam thingamajig covering it.  SOOOO comfy.

- REALLY excellent massage! We chatted about where I needed the most attention, and he left no knot unturned, no muscle un-rubbed.  (And he wasn't afraid to use a little elbow grease, either.)

- EXCELLENT price.

I would totally recommend this place to anyone who needs some love on a budget.

The only thing missing from the experience was a quiet place to chill out and unwind before and after the magic-- I guess I sort of like the spa thing with the cucumber water and the free slippers and stuff.  This place is really just a room in a shared space, so it's the hallway or bust.  BUT!  No matter.  :)

I felt EONS better after my session.  I endorse this guy's hands.

WOW!!!  That's says most of it!!!

Based on the reviews for this place (and not a single bad review!!!  Mostly 5 stars!!!)  I've decided to try Adam for a massage.  I am preparing for a competition this coming week and needed to let my muscles heal and relax.  I figured it would probably help me to get a massage.

Now, I didn't tell him much besides my sport, my line of work and I essentially told him that I'm sore all over!!!  (Which is true given the nature of skaters and my age...)  The guy found all my particularly nasty spots (shoulders and a pinching sciatic nerve on my left side that was nagging that day.)   He wasn't too rough on me either!  He also mentioned something about my ankles and said that he was concerned about that.

Also helping in his cause: very easy going personality!!!  Definitely has a good sense of humor, nice guy!!!   I felt totally relaxed coming out of there.  The only thing I wished I've done differently was to book a 90 minute instead of a 60 minutes.

As the AHHHNOLD would say... "I'll be back!!!"  (booked for another session in late May for a 90 minute one!!!)  ;-)

I've been dealing with hip pain forever and no masseuse has ever really made a dent in it. Eugenie did an amazing job on my hip. She got to some super painful spots I'd never noticed before and worked those out. Booking online is great. I'll be back.

Based off the strong Yelp reviews, I decided to make an appointment.  I was lucky to see that Eugenie was available that very weekend.

Its location on 22nd made it very easy to get to by public transportation .  It's a pretty busy neighborhood so parking will be hit and miss for sure.

The only confusing part of the whole experience happened when I was getting inside.  There's a doorbell you need to ring to get in.  I got there a little early and I didn't want to interrupt an on-going session, so I decided to wait until it was time for my appointment.  If there's protocol that I didn't figure out, hopefully someone shares it!

Once I got in, I immediately saw that Eugenie was very cheerful, and eased me into the session.  Once we got started, she was very attentive to the problem spot I mentioned to her, which really helped.

She didn't just go through the motions, she really paid attention to what she's doing for the entire time.  It was a great job - the deep tissue massage more satisfying than a typical Swedish one that I've gotten before.

Adam at Oxygen Massage rocks! I have seen many fine massage therapists in the bay area, and he has been the most effective healer for my sports injuries.

After two painful years with a bum ankle, no one was able to completely get rid of the lingering and recurring pain in my ankle, knees, and elbow. Adam's skilled hands, using a combination of Swedish, neuomuscular, and deep tissue massages, loosened the adhesions and fianlly got me pain free. I just saw him tonight, thanks  to his on line scheduling system I booked on the same day, to treat a sprianed tnedon. I walked in on crutches and one hour later after his massage, I was able to walk out on my own power.

Adam is intuitive and skilled. He has a gentle chairside manner and he is extremely well trained. As a health care provider, I appreciate it when another provider understands anatomy, function and different treatment modalities. At times I show up for a feel good massage, and he does that extraordinarily well also.

He instills trust and confidence with his demeanor and listening skills. He does not overtreat and is punctual. He deserve the stellar ratings on yelp, and I give him 5 stars!

It's been pretty quiet at work today, so I thought I'd take the time to write  a review for Adam.

He's good. I've had a fair bit of back trouble, and I've seen a fair few people here in SF, and I'm more than happy to recommend Adam, for the simple reason that he's very very good at massage. In fact, so far he's the stand out best. He's an ex-Google masseuse, which might mean he's in the same league of masseuses as ex-SEALs are in the league of... well, whatever SEALs do. Honk alot and get clubbed apparantly (thanks google!) - it's a funny line of defense you yanks have, but there you are.

So! I digress - if you need a good massage, go see Adam, or (and I haven't seen her, but she went to the same school as him, so...) Eugene, who also works here.

He' s thorough, open, honest, friendly, and (let's face it, this should be the reason you'd see him) good at massage.

What's all the hype? Its like harry potter and cheesecake and the city of San Francisco--its just down and dirty really-good-stuff. I've come here for a couple months and rearranged my entire paltry budget to accomodate it. Massage itself is just an incredibly effective tool and worthy investment for health. My troubles: hellsa stress and helsa clumsiness. So aches and bumps and paralyzing ennui, body work has done me good. But the O2 kids are especially good:  when i told Adam i was a medical student, he was totally down to nerd out about muscle insertions and inflammatory processes. He's an impeccable technician. A good massage therapist who, for those very common muscle  troubles, really gives docs and physical therapists a run for the money. He's fixed all manners of tendonitis and posture pains. And he's just very comfortable to be with--very easy going, responsive, and happy to explain things. I have also gone to Eugenie and she is also impeccably skilled. Anyhow there's something magical about what they do--they touch you and and then tell you things like "oh i can tell that your anterior tibialis is full of neutrophils" or whatever. you'll save thousands on mri's, feel devilishly limber, and it may even help you pass your exams [if the tibialis anterior shows up on it]

Oxygen is a great place to get a real massage, not one of those overpriced, superficial rubdowns you get at a day spa. I saw Eugenie who was warm and friendly. She talked to me about why I was seeing her (tension headaches) and when she got to work, she immediately pinpointed a number of stress spots in my neck and shoulders. I walked in feeling jittery from too much coffee and a frantic walk in the rain since I was almost running late, and after my 30-minute session I walked out feeling utterly relaxed. I plan to go back as often as I can.

Adam's massage is healing and relaxing.  I went to Adam for help with sciatic pain.  Knowledgeable, intuitive, and skilled, he took the time to analyze my body and I've felt more release from his treatment than from any practitioners I've seen in the past.

Such a welcoming and relaxing environment to let it all go.  I loved the fact that he checked in with my body before proceeding which really showed his level of knowledge in massage.  He found a spot in my lower back where I pulled something a year ago and completely forgot about it.  He asked if I had an injury there because he felt alot of adhesion. He then asked if it was okay to work through it and he then worked through the scar tissue so hopefully it won't return again during yoga.  Very receptive and knowledgable massage therapist.  Will definitly go back again!

Adam has been quite helpful in providing a healing touch and a nice, relaxing massage in my times of need. He is very focussed and connects with you and recognizes exactly what your mind and body  needs. This deep understanding is what sets him apart from the plethora of massage therapists out there, not to mention his sound technique.

It's been a couple of years now since my last massage and I've decided to get it not in a spa (nothing against spas, luv them!). I read great reviews about this place and the massage therapists, so I gave it a try and I was pleasantly surprise. My meeting with Adam was great, he made sure that I was comfortable and offered me a few pointers on Shiatsu massage. The whole process was very relaxing and I am definitely plan on checking back with them again.
I went to get a Shiatsu massage which I thought was just calming, a definite Zen moment, and at the same time getting your fill of a good massage. I  also want to add that I found their way of making appointments very efficient, they do it in real time so there's none of that going back and forth on your calendar to see what day works.

Well, what can I say that hasn't been said... Adam was great - calming, professional, etc.  Great massage!  I really like the space they have too; tastefully decorated rooms in an old Victorian.  The fact that it's about ten steps from my apartment doesn't hurt either!

This is not just another nice back rub.  This is a full on treatment.

I hurt myself playing rugby several years ago, work at a desk, fly a lot, lift weights, play ultimate frisbee and despite my best efforts, my neck and back get thrashed.

Enter Adam.  I've been going to Adam for a year now and it seems that he has been discovered and for good reason.   In addition to exeptional schooling in Massage Therapy,  he has a warm and genuine approach with people in and out of his practice.     In a world of so many massage therapists, Adam stands out for his knowledge and experience and, man, he just has a knack.

Today, I couldn't get an appointment with Adam, so I booked with Eugenie, the newest Oxygen Massage Therapist.  Eugenie went to the same school as Adam, so, again, she is very well trained.   Her approach is very warm and genuine as well and if you're one of those folks who prefers a female's hands, you're in luck, but don't think she can't get in deep  -  she is also very strong.

I recommend Oxygen Massage Therapy to anyone, whether you think you need a massage or not, because guess what-  you do need a massage.   And you need a good one.

Adam is fantastic. Today, the morning after an expert massage by Adam, I feel rejuvenated and at peace despite being in the middle of a three week work marathon. I arrived at the Oxygen offices rather worn out and bedraggled. After a spectacular massage I noticed that the color had come back to my cheeks and I felt fabulous. I'm no expert, but Adam seems very specific about the massage he gives. I said I'd been stressed and had an ankle that was bothering me, he worked on the area between my shoulders (with this really cool lifting stretch) and really gave my ankle a complete going-over. Anyway, I feel so lucky to have received such care and thought from Adam.

I recently had a deep tissue massage with Eugenie, and it was one of the best I've had. She was very attentive to my comfort and, to say the least, incredibly skilled. I will definitely be back.

I agree with some other Yelpers in that it is a bit strange to ring a doorbell to gain entry and feel like you're interrupting something. But, overall, it detracts very little from the experience.

Adam saw me as a new client on short notice- I was desperate and my chiropractor was sick. He took great care of me.

It clear immediately that Adam has great diagnostic skills. He was able to locate the source of my pain easily, and he understood the big picture of what my symptoms meant.

The work he did on me had a very positive, high level of energy. The stretches and motions that he used were both relaxing and invigorating, which in my experience is really unusual.

When I left, not only was my neck pain gone but my whole body felt glowing. For a day or two after I could feel the slight soreness that comes with deep body work, and I felt like my posture was improved. I definitely plan to come back as often as I can afford it.

Thanks, Adam!

Oh god. This is so embarrassing, but while I was getting my massage, I kept having to remind myself that I was not on a date. This is likely because Adam is a fox, I was naked under the sheets, the massage room was probably a bedroom at one time and he has good quiet indie rock options on his stereo. I am inappropriate, I know. I'm just being honest and making Yelp my therapist.

ANYWAY: Worth every penny. I have had foofy spa massages before, and they're nice while you're getting the rubdown but without much long-term merit. But Adam's massage skills are fantastic; he really knows how to get the aches and pains out of your body. Mine aren't completely gone yet, but they are significantly better--enough that my cheap ass is going in every six weeks to see him.

Adam's table-side demeanor is great. He's friendly and he asks questions about what's bothering you, and asks whether the pressure is good, so on and so forth. I also like the fact that I can book online. It's convenient and easy. Now I just have to keep myself from blushing on the table.

Adam is a very skillful massage therapist, displaying excellent training and quiet expertise.  He is able to quickly pinpoint areas of tension and makes clear connections to clients about related areas.  he was able to link my shoulder knot and three day old headache to TMJ problems and to tenderness in my shoulder blade.  He also recommended a tool for self-managing my headaches and tight shoulder muscles in between massages.  Besides his obvious skill and exemplary training, he truly cares about his clients.

So I had a pretty hefty dose of sciatica almost six months ago.  It was debilitating for about three months and although I was going for regular adjustments I hadn't had an actual massage until my session with Adam.  My first visit was at a critical time because the muscle groups from my buttock down to my right foot had been cramped and idle for so long I needed knowledgeable and focused deep tissue work to kick start the stretching and strengthening process.  Adam obviously has experience treating sciatica.  He observed my alignment, asked a couple questions and his massage focused on all the key spots.  He even found the secret knot that likes to hide out in my low back.  Since, I've been able to hold deeper stretches.  The other great thing about Adam is the level of comfort I felt during the treatment.  He is super attentive and present and I could really tell that he cares.  Did I mention the massage table is like crawling into a super dreamy cloud?  Highly recommended when you need to treat yourself right.

Have you figured out that I love all things spa and body work? I just went in and got a 90 minute massage with Adam and it was so fantastic. I get a lot of body work, and I would have to say that his technical skills are some of the best I have had in SF. I am sure it is due to his 1200 hours + of training at one of the top schools on the east coast (if you are a massage therapist, you will appreciate this). He has a great sense of touch, and  is able to use very deep pressure. He did fantastic neck work, was able to really stretch out my whole body and I felt great after wards. I also like that he is really good at communicating and has a desire to meet client requests. It was a great session, and I am booked again for next week. Adam is now in my "Therapist Rotation" (meaning I will be seeing him on a regular basis). I feel great!

No really it's me.  I know, you probably don't recognize me, the headachy scowl is gone, I'm standing straighter, just a whole sense of relaxation.  That would be thanks to Adam at Oxygen Massage Therapy.

I was running late for my appointment, not recommended when you are on your way to relax, however I managed to save some anxiety by finding a parking spot right outside the studio!  Less tension in my neck already.  I was greeted by Alex and immediately started feeling better...the studio smelled wonderful and he put me at ease with his calming voice and manner.

His hands and technique were wonderful.  He hit the right spots to relieve my headache as well and release some tension that had been building up in my neck and shoulders.  The only negative is that I wasn't able to get a 90 minute appointment..60 minutes is simply not enough.

I'm a professional dancer and dance teacher, so the body work I need is not just about relaxation, it's about repair, rejuvenation and longevity.   I have a different ache or issue every time I see him, and each time I get a custom massage for my needs.  Most importantly, I feel better when I leave.  I cannot recommend him enough for people who need real body work, not just a simple little back rub.

For the past 15+ years, I have been receiving massages to treat chronic lower back pain as a result of spinal fusion.  After exploring several different modalities, regular massage has always offered the best results, although the relief has never been complete or last longer than a day at most.  I can honestly say that the massage I received from Adam was, by far,  the BEST massage I have ever experienced.  Not only did his deep tissue work and stretching completely relieve the pain I experience, but the results are long-lasting and my mobility, flexibility and core strength are better than they have been in years.  AT LAST!!

What can I say... I'm hooked.

Our bodies, as the housing for our souls, need cleaning and tuning by qualified caretakers.  If you're just all out of whack and require some repair, go see Adam!
We met at a Burning Man Decompression street party, and truly his caring skills came to life right there on the park grass.  Ahh,, went my fascia.  So I like to return to the sanctuary of his space at the Spiral Muse house every few moons.
I second the reviews already posted--he's a talented healer whose considerate bodywork does miracles, and he's cool to boot.

I heartily endorse Adam's services!  I've never been comfortable with massage.   With Adam I was made comfortable and he was extremely considerate of my concerns.  To be brief now I'm a regular.  I've found that I'm more relaxed and less stressed during the week as a result.   His massage skills, wonderful communication style, and overall personality make this something I look forward to weekly.

so i had pain in my shoulder for 4 months, i book a massage with eugenie because i was HURTING and didn't want to wait for adam! it must've been psychological however because the next day my pain went away :/ but i went anyhow and it was worth it! i don't normally pick female massage therapists because they have little tiny fingers and they don't go deep enough, but not eugenie! I knew it was a good sign when her client before me came out looking like she just took a bong hit and couldn't make articulate sentences. Eugenie's very strong and she's not afraid to dig into your butt muscles! i can't stand it when people are too shy to get in there! she was receptive to feed back of what i wanted, but she could've worked my feet better. nobody does my feet long enough (maybe i should take a hint ) :) but they're important! i wear crazy ass shoes and i am NOT wearing comfort shoes and nasty ass ugg boots just to save my feet! that's what massages are FOR! i also liked that she stretched my legs and neck, and DAYEM she did not hold back, that huuuuuuuurt but in a really good way. i felt like a complete noodle when she was done. eugenie all the way! i'll definitely be back to see her and in the meantime i'm going to try out adam too. cause you know sometimes you just gotta swing both ways ;)
