I was very nervous about taking my rabbit to get neutered and did a lot of research. I called a few places in the area, and this was the cheapest ($207) that still had good reviews. The first time I called to ask some questions and the man who answered the phone was very knowledable and answers my questions. The second time when I called to make the appointment, the lady who answered was less understanding and not able to answer anything. However, they had a lot of appointments open and I was able to make one for two days from then.

Dr. Housley was very friendly and knowledgable about rabbits and talked to me before and after the surgery. My bunny did great, recovered well, and I would definitely come back if it wasn't so far from my apartment!

I took my beagle here for the first time and have to say that neither of us found it to be a good match.

The front reception was okay. The women working were nice. However, despite filling out the form, they proceeded to then ask me all of the questions that I had just spent time answering on the new client intake form. And despite me telling them what I was there for on the phone, they needed to ask me again while I was there. For the record, we just wanted an annual check-up and a DHP booster.

As soon as we left the waiting room and went into an exam room, my pup freaked out a little. He can be nervous and skittish but this was bordering on TERRIFIED. He was hiding behind me and trying to get under the chair. I've taken him to several vets before and have never had this happen.

When the vet came in, I let him know that my guy was nervous and was scared of being picked up and put on the table. In a brief moment of being nice, the vet tried to examine him on the floor.

My dog was super scared of him though and kept backing up, hiding and jerking his head away. The doctor got frustrated and huffed "We'll go to a different room and get some techs to help put him up on a table. I'm not going to chase him around the room to examine him."

It kept going downhill from there. They took me into a back room that positively REEKED. He then told one of the techs to get my dog up onto the table.

This didn't go as planned and we still didn't have him up there by the time the doctor got back.

At no time did my guy ever get aggressive. He never snarled. He never snapped. He never lunged or growled. All he did was try to hide behind me and jerked his head away.

    Apparently this merits being muzzled.

I understand the need for vet and tech safety but for a dog who is shaking and scared, that's really a horrible way to go about calming him down. He's never been muzzled either so that made it 1,000 times worse.

Especially since immediately after they get the muzzle on him, the tech picked him up by the scruff of the neck to put him on the table.

And the annual exam? A JOKE. The vet listened to his heart and told me to put my guy on a diet. They did ZERO blood tests. Never looked into his eyes or ears. Didn't check out his feed. And I had to ASK about whether or not his teeth needed to be cleaning since he didn't bother looking at those either.

While there, I had talked about coming back to get his teeth cleaned and the vet told me to give my dog tranquilizers before I brought him back in the next time.

I'm still a little stunned over all of this. I know for sure that we won't be back though. We're headed over to Malibu Coast Animal Hospital from here on out. It's a little out of the way but I've had several people tell me that that place is fantastic.

I am so happy I went here!  Everyone there is so friendly, genuine and straight forward.  On top of that, my Chihuahua doesn't warm up to many people and she was so easy to warm up to everyone there.  The visit was fast and pain free and I felt as the vet loved helping animals.  They made me very comfortable and welcomed.

I recently adopted a kitten and after hours of research I decided to go to Overland Veterinary Clinic. I have to agree with some of the reviews on here: the front desk people/receptionists are not the most friendliest people I've met. However, the friendliness, knowledge and professionalism of the veterinarians blew my mind. They do not recommend over-vaccination and they were willing to answer piles of questions I wanted to ask. (Just for a note, I've always had dogs but never had cats before). MAJOR plus for me, however, is that they open very early (7AM during week days, 8AM on weekends) and everything worked out so fast.

I would recommend this place to ANYONE. It is slightly pricier than some other vets (though not one of the expensive ones in LA county), but If you want an amazingly knowledgeable, experienced and friendly vets who treat your pet(s) as they would with their own, you won't have to look any further.

I have been very happy here since transferring my pets care over a year ago.  Came to Dr. Metten and Overland Vet by a rescue group.  I like the care, the honesty, and fair price. Not the cheapest or most expensive - fair and I feel like I'm getting my money's worth.  And I really appreciate their hours.  I don't have time to come in during regular office hours and their late and weekend hours are great for us working folk!

They were great with the end of my last pets life, and wonderful with the two that we have now.  And I really like the emergeny vet/surgery center that they referred us to for our more complicated issues.  I have recommended this place to several people and will continue to do so.

This is a really bittersweet review for me, and I suppose one that's been in the making for 6 years.

My ol' pal Sheepa the Dog's very first vet visit when he joined our family was to Dr. Louis Schwartz of the Overland Vet Clinic the day after we adopted him.  For over 6 years, he got his teeth cleanings, his annual checkups, and his virtually all his ailments addressed by Dr. Schwartz & his staff. (Except for one emergency visit to ASEC Animal Emergency on Sepulveda, who BTW, were truly exceptional as well)

While he began his life with us by visiting Dr. Schwartz, his very last moments with us was also in the fine, fine care of Dr. Schwartz himself and his staff.  I have nothing but heartfelt respect & everlasting gratitude for Overland Vet Clinic.

(BTW:  I want to emphasize that I'm a two-time Elite Yelper (who dropped out due to work/health issues) and I have a dozen or so ROTDs along with 88 reviews & 89 fans.  What I'm saying is, I'm not some 'bungie' Yelper bouncing in to do a review only when it suits me:  I take my Yelping very seriously and only when I have something important to say.  I want to make this clear this because I see a few Orangeheads submitting negative reviews for OVC and many of them are really, really off base and make me question the legitimacy of many of their claims.)

    SHEEPA'S FIRST DAY WITH US
I adopted a dog named Sheepa that was malnourished, flea-infested, underweight, and very untrusting of anyone.  If you bring in your adoption papers to Dr. Schwartz from several dog adoption groups, he will provide your first 'check up' at no charge.  Sheepa was indeed in bad shape & Dr. Schwartz confirmed this while also confirming that he was 10 years old already & a fairly mature dog.  I wasn't going to give up on him so over the next couple month's Dr. Schwartz helped make sure that Sheepa improved gradually and eventually returned to as healthy as he could be.  Shots, medicines, diets, tick collars, you name it.

One day, we woke up to say good morning to Sheepa & found him awake and SMILING!  He greeted us, bounded about the living room, licking us on the legs, pouncing on his toys, bringing me his 'tug' sock, and letting out a happy "RUFF!"  This was his first 'bark' since we'd gotten him.  With this, we knew our mission with Dr. Schwartz to bring him to health was complete.

    SHEEPA'S COUNTLESS AILMENTS
I'm not going to lie:  Sheepa had what most would consider a terrible life before he came to us and it took a toll on him.  As a result, throughout his 6 years with us, he had numerous ailments and all of them were diagnosed & addressed by Dr. Schwartz.   Sheepa would have an ailment, the doctor diagnosed them quickly, and treated them.  Or we'd put a plan in place for more complicated issues.  And rarely was I unable to find a convenient time on their calendar.  Sheepa got successfully treated for numerous issues throughout his life, including:
    - Worms
    - Diarrhea
    - Bee stings
    - Arthritis/Joint pain
    - Hypothyroidism
    - Acid nausea
    - Urinary infection
    - Kennel cough
    - Loss of bladder control
    - Intestinal tract bacteria
    - Nutritional deficiencies
    - Vertebrae fusion

And besides Sheepa being diagnosed and treated accurately & quickly, I always felt that we were in the presence of ETHICAL & MORAL individuals that actually gave a damn about animals... and THIS was extremely important to me.

    SHEEPA'S FINAL NIGHT
Sheepa passed away in August at the age of roughly 16, the result of a major stroke.  I don't want to relive my pal's final night (which I write about here:  http://kurtsthoughts.c...) but I will say that the personal yet PROFESSIONAL care provided by Dr. Schwartz & Nurse Maggie were far, far above and beyond the call of duty during our ordeal.  They treated him like a OVC family member when I couldn't be there for him for a number of reasons and made his final days as comfortable as possible.

I will never forget their kindness.

    CONCLUSION
I don't know if OVC is considered affordable by vet standards as the costs for my pal Sheepa's healthcare were never an issue for us.  I will say however that if you want a place to provide caring & knowledgeable, primary veterinary care for your dog, and don't want to deal with a lot of unprofessional or ethically-challenged shadiness that some places put you through, Dr. Schwartz & Overland Veterinary Clinic is a wonderful choice.  Straight forward, trustworthy, and truly caring - if you want to establish a long term relationship with your vet, this is the place to go.

I would not even slightly hesitate to recommend Dr. Schwartz to people that need primary medical care for their dogs.

5-stars.  Thank you Doctor.  For everything.

I have been with Dr. Schwartz since waay back when he was on Olympic. He is such a huge part of my life with my dogs. He saved my beloved Wolfie from a horrible case of pancreatic.  Am so grateful to have found this wonderful, intelligent man that is as kind as the day is long.
Dr. Scwartz,s love of animals is ever so evident in the way my pets respond to him. My dog Leo just loves him and my dog Wolf was always calm when in his presence.

The clinic is kept immaculate. If there is an accident, it will be disinfected immediately.

The staff at Overland is always professional and some of them become a sort of family.

I got my first pet (dog) in 1998, and Dr. Schwartz was his vet, he then also became the vet for my senegal and conure (birds), I trusted their skills and appreciated their kindness to my pets.  I recently returned to their facility because my first pet got an eye infection, Dr. Houseley was incredibly kind, my dog was completely comfortable around her, didn't feel nervous.  She was patient and answered all of our questions without rushing us out the door.  Absolutely great.

I can't believe I didn't remember to write a review for Overland Vet, so this is from a year or two ago, but very very much deserved.

My poor dwarf hamster, Pearla, wasn't doing well and I took her here as a walk in.  Everyone, from the people at the front desk, to the other waiting patients and their owners were very nice and cooed over her, even though I'd given her a strawberry to munch on which ended up looking like blood around her mouth (oops).

The vet took their careful time with her examination and proceeded to take Pearla to the back to do some testing.  The news wasn't good; she had diabetes, which is apparently common in dwarf hamsters (again, oops on the strawberry at that point).

They stabilized her blood sugar and did all they could there, while still charging me a very reasonable price.  I think they even left a test off the bill, maybe, which was very sweet of them, since I was just out of school and new to the area at that point.

Pearla lived another few good months, much healthier thanks to them.  They said they were impressed and glad that I had brought her in, as most people just let the small animals like that die without giving them a chance.  The feeling was mutual, as I was just as impressed with them that they would take the time and give careful attention to a small animal like my dwarf hamster.

I only have a fish now, but still have their card tucked away in my wallet for any future pets I may end up with.

Took my new puppy here to get all his shots. Found this clinic quite disappointing despite all the good reviews from yelpers. First off, the first and last exam was quick and it didn't seem like they cared much to check cause it was "complimentary" service. I decided from the first shot I'd come back cause it was the nearest and most well reviewed yelped pet clinic around my area.. unfortunately, I didn't find any great experiences. I don't know what it is about this place but I didn't feel welcomed from the get go. This clinic can get busy and that's great for them but expect to wait even with an appointment (Which is expected in most appointed cases.) The last shots for my puppy was the most terrible experience going here.. the vet assistants were going to give him a shot in the waiting area.. kinda ridiculous i say.  Luckily the person in front stopped them and had the vet take him in a room like most proper appointed visits should be! You could go ahead and try them but I'd recommend going elsewhere from my experience. Overall, I'm just happy my new puppy has all his shots now!

Our rescue pup, Lucas, sees Dr. Metten.  We have been very happy with the service here -- Dr. Metten has a great way with animals and the technicians that we have seen have all been equally skilled.  Sometimes, I think the receptionists could be a tad - um - friendlier, but because the quality of care for our dog is so fantastic (and the prices seem so reasonable given the level of care), it doesn't bother us.

We are happy to have found this place (through reviews on Yelp, actually), and would highly recommend them.

Update: I received a full refund from Dr. Schwartz and a letter via snailmail in which he apologized for my unsatisfactory experience at the clinic, and stated that it was his policy that "you should not have to pay for service that did not meet expectations."

Professionalism on the back end is a big plus, and therefore I am adding a star in thanks. If I could add 1.5 stars, I would, but unfortunately I can't, and still cannot honestly give a 4 star recommendation. So it's a 3.5 final review, tho it will only show as 3.

I would say that if you are referred to this clinic by a friend or review, ask to specifically see that particular Dr. who was named in the review.

THE BEST VET! Don't think twice. Smart, with decades of experience, and a heart of gold. I've been going to him on and off (I've moved a few times and the clinic is further away now) for 17 years. I know scores of parrot owners - he's primarily dog/cat but a TON of parrot people bring their birds there. I've never had a bad word to say, and believe me I would if there was anything amiss, and I've never heard a complaint from anyone.

Wherever you live, if you're in Los Angeles or Orange County or even the Valley, go to Overland Veterinary Clinic and see him. If you love your pet that's what to do.

This is the first time I feel compelled to sit down and write a review. When I got my first dog eight years ago, I'd chosen her veterinarian based on the distance to my home. I was under the naive impression that all vets are animal lovers who'd chosen their profession because it was a calling, otherwise they surely would have studied human medicine given that it takes as long and is essentially more rewarding financially. Boy was I wrong. There are veterinarians out there whose licenses should be revoked, many others are merely "okay" doing just what's necessary while trying to sell you procedures and meds that your pets don't need and could make them more sick in the long run.

Make a long story short, I have an eight year old dog with a collapsed trachea who wouldn't be in nearly as bad of shape if any of the three veterinarians I've taken her to had simply looked up in their text books what could cause this breed of dog to continuously cough and wheeze. I ended up diagnosing it myself, on the internet. Then I had it confirmed by another useless vet whom I talked into x-raying her chest.

Cut to: Dr.Schwartz at Overland Veterinary Clinic.  When we added a puppy to our pack I swore myself I would take the time and find the most educated, passionate, caring veterinarian in this town. It took me months. Trust me, he's it. He'll probably bore you as a dinner guest (as geniuses do) but if you love your pet, he's the vet you're looking for.

He's against over-vaccinating, he knows about everything to do with veterinarian medicine, traditional or holistic and he will talk you OUT OF procedures or meds your pets don't need. He will also let you look over his shoulder as he performs a surgery.  Total transparency because he has nothing to hide.

Forget about the receptionists and staff. They drive me nuts too and they'll often say the opposite of what I know he'll say or suggest. But you're making a big mistake if you let them turn you off from seeing him.

Thank heavens Mira Tweeti, the well-known parrot rescuer, recommended the wonderful Dr Schwartz when I needed somewhere to bring my Thanksgiving rescue turkey who had developed a severe limp. Dr Schwartz is not on the Avian Specialist lists but it turns out he grew up with an aviary and treats loads of birds.
My experiences with the better known avian specialists had not been good. One, who has a personality that could freeze a furnace, charged me $200 to barely glance at Russell Turkey and tell me he didn't know what was wrong.  He prescribed huge doses of antibiotics just in case the limp came from an infection and haphazardly wrote "infection" on his chart even though he told me it could be either a break or a sprain. Then I called Dr Molner who just by listening to my phone description decided it was surely a break that would need surgery. (Cha ching, cha ching, cha ching.)
Dr Schwartz examined Russell thoroughly, palpating his feet and legs, then managed to x-ray him without anesthesia though the first avian expert had told me that would be impossible. The thorough examination and x-rays found no evidence of any break or infection -- Dr Schwartz said Russell most likely has a soft tissue injury that just needs time, rest and anti inflammatory pain meds.  And indeed since our visit Russell has been getting better every day.
I liked everything about this office - I- found Justin on the phone and at the front desk to be a delight, and Maggie, who assisted Dr Schwartz, has the warmest and most competent manner I have come across.
I adore my local vet, Dr Condello, but he doesn't do surgery and I will surely take Paula Pitbull to Overland for anything she needs that Condello doesn't supply. And I would tell anybody on the Westside who doesn't have a vet they love that this is the place to go. Some reviews have suggested the clinic is expensive but I don't think it is out of the normal range and I know they give special rates to those who have rescue animals and need a break -- and how cool is that? This is a great clinic and Dr Schwartz is a terrific and very kind vet.

I have 3 special needs dogs and have lived in 4 cities and visited multiple vets and they are the best! These guys are awesome. Dr. Schwartz helped me through a diabetes diagnosis in one of my dogs in 2008. After that, we recently had a scare with our Cavalier ingesting things she shouldn't have and she needed surgery. OVC couldn't perform the surgery, but they reco'ed a place that was fantastic. Our pup did all her follow up there. I also end up having to drop in a lot for vaccinations, paperwork, etc. and they are always SUPER fast and friendly. I can't tell you enough how much I love and trust the team at OVC.

I'm giving Overland Veterinary Clinic a 4.  The reason it isn't a 5 is just some weirdness I experienced on my first visit.  My super-cool cat was steadily getting thinner and decided the litter box wasn't for him.  I live nearby and decided to take him here.  Dr. Schwartz was great, but to get to him was the thing.  We came in and made eye contact with each of the four people at the counter, no hello, no nod, no sign of life.  We sat opposite a nice lady with her two dogs and spoke with her.  She must be a regular because she understood the secret protocol of sitting there until somebody paused long enough to notice customers.  In that brief moment (after about 15 minutes) she said "Fluffy here to see Dr. Schwartz"  - then the magic happened, they woke up and acknowledged her.  Following her lead, I took my opportunity and was lead to a room with my kitty.  Dr. Swartz came in after 10 minutes, said he'd be right back and then came back 20 minutes later.  He was awesome with the cat, took over $300 of blood tests and diagnosed the cat within 24 hours.  I believe he's an excellent vet and had a great demeanor in general both with us and the cat.

Minus one star for the staff, my comment, "real 'single-taskers'"  Work on that customer service.

Today was my first experience with this clinic.

Sadly, my 17 year old cat has been on the decline for a few weeks. I don't have a regular Vet as she's had no health problems in her 9 lives. Dr. Schwartz came highly recommended by my daughter, who takes her pets here.
Just by looking at her, Dr. Schwartz confirmed what my heart was telling me. It was time to say goodbye :. (( He was knowledgeable, understanding & extremely sensitive.
Puss & I, my daughter, her bf & her dog were all taken into a comfortable livingroom type room with a couch & dimmed lighting. I was able to hold & soothe her through the process. It was...actually....quite lovely.

The facility is immaculate & staff was friendly & helpful.

I also have a 6 year old Doberman (who's sad today as well) who doesn't have a Vet either (I'm blessed with healthy pets!). I'm sure he will Love Dr. Schwartz as much as I do. I plan on getting him in for a check-up soon.

The doctors here are great. I've seen Dr Metten & Dr Schwartz for my 7 yr old lab. Dr Schwartz in particular is understanding and thorough with explaining procedures and asking many questions, all done with great care. Dr Metten is warm & kind with my dog. the people at the front desk are usually nice and friendly too.

costs are reasonable. sure some vets charge less & some a lot more. I think overland offers a nice middle ground especially with the wonderful care they provide.

also, dr schwartz isn't quick to over prescribe or jump the gun on procedures. i don't feel like they are out to make huge amounts of money off of people & their pets here. which is such a refreshing feeling!

I went to this place by accident when my new puppy needed to be taken in on a Sunday afternoon, rather than waiting on his scheduled appointment later that week (at another clinic recommended by a friend).  Because this place was open on a Sunday, we explained our situation and they fit us in.  When we got there, I couldn't believe how clean the place was.  I have been to tons of doctors recently and this animal clinic was cleaner than anything I had been to for myself.

The receptionist was sweet, got us all situated and then the staff loved on our puppy.  They were actually pet people, rather than when you feel sterile and like people really could care less about your animal.  Our vet was a woman (I can't remember her name at the moment) but she was great.  She was gentle, sweet and informative.  We felt comfortable there and so did our puppy.  He never even squealed during his shots.

Although we haven't had extensive work done here yet, I will definitely be going back for the rest of his immunization shots and to be neutered.  It was really comforting to get so lucky in finding such a great vet.

UPDATE:  Our vet's name is Dr. Housely and she is absolutely amazing.  I mean, I seriously love her.  Our pup just got neutered, got all of his shots done, got a microchip, etc and came out of surgery just fine.  They are absolutely wonderful there.  She answers every question I could possibly come up with and she genuinely loves what she does.  They even fill out your pet insurance claims and send them out for you, if you have a service like that.  The staff and our doctor are fantastic and give me peace of mind when taking something I love so much to the vet.  They are wonderful and I love that forums like this give people a chance to let others know that.

Watching Dr. Schwartz handle my cat made my jaw drop. In the best way possible, that is. You see, I was probably more nervous than Percee was about going to the vet, because I had no idea how someone else could possibly get near enough to examine him without being clawed or having it turn into a high-speed chase (did I mention I have a large but skittish male cat?). To my surprise, everything went swimmingly. Percee even let himself get picked up and placed on the scale to be weighed.

The front desk staff is good about scheduling appointments (they close at 7pm and took our appointment for 6:45) and they were very welcoming when you come into the office. The vet technicians (we had Victor do the pedicure) do good work. Sure, Dr. Schwartz sounds a little monotonous, but he clearly knows his stuff and is good at what he does. Plus, the routine check-up was no charge and the pedicure was only $13.

Percee and I will definitely come back. I'm pretty sure OVC has his pawprint of approval.

I guess I should start off by saying I haven't taken my dogs to this veterinarian.  But this is where I bring my pet rats when I am in LA.  The first time I went to them was to take Kylie who lost function of her back legs.  I was able to tell she was in pain and wanted to make sure to do what was best for her.  Dr. Schwartz told me should would most likely feel better with metacam, which is a pain killer.  He sent me home with a couple of free dosages to see if it would work.  I can tell she was a lot more comfortable, so I went back to fill the prescription.  The second time I came to this vet office was when my other girl Riley had a mammary tumor.  I saw Dr. Housley, who I thought was amazing!  I came in on Thursday to get it checked out, and made the appointment for the surgery on Friday! When I came to pick her up she was up and moving around, I was able to pick her up earlier than the expected time do to her fast recovery.  Yesterday, I had to take Whiskers to get a mammary tumor removed in Arizona.  It was good, but not nearly as good as Overland Vet Clinic.  With the Arizona Vet, I had to wait 2 weeks for the surgery after the first appointment.  Okay back to Overland.  I think they are great and highly recommend them for exotic pets.  I even boarded my rats here. I was happy with the price of boarding.  I think it was $17 a day for all my rats.

    PROS:
    Good Drs
    They see exotic pets
    Fair prices
    Open 7days a week

    CONS:
    Small Parking lot.

Don't go there...... very unprofessional. They probably got all their friends to write in good reviews. I called about giving my rabbits a pet exam since I had them for a year and the receptionist made fun of me.
"Well if they look fine, there is no need ma'am".
"Well if you'd read ANYTHING about taking care of rabbits you would know they require a yearly exam just like ANY other animal you blank".
(this wasn't my answer although I wish it had been !)
A few weeks later I was told I could bring the rabbits for nail clipping and waited for 1:30 hours to be told it wouldn't be possible that day.
I understand emergencies happen but there wasn't even an apology from the front desk women who look as though they really hate their jobs.
Nope, no need for that...just called VCA.... And I feel like I'm a wanted customer already.

I was referred to Dr. Schwartz to get my male French Bulldog fixed. the staff was great and Dr. Schwartz went over everything with me in great detail.

The best part: the results. My little one was pretty much back to his normal self within hours after getting home. I was really surprised. Thank you, Dr. Schwartz.

I love when I go to a place and they treat my dogs like they are their own. That is exactly what happens here. Everyone from the receptionist to the vet techs to the doctors are amazing. They are always taking very good care of my puppies and never suggesting ridiculous treatments to get.

I love that they don't take advantage of the animal lovers. If they don't think that a treatment, medication, or whatever is necessary then they will tell you so. Not to mention that the Comfortis is cheaper here than any place else. They are just very honest, caring, and great people.

I am so happy that I have such a great Vet near by, after running through many horrible experiences!

We ended up at OVC last Saturday because our dog was experiencing some back pain.  I'm a big worrier, and he's my baby, so of course my mind jumped to lyme disease because we'd been hiking in the midwest recently.  We usually go to Dr. Shipp's Animal Hospital in Beverly Hills, but they were all booked up, so I scoured Yelp for another promising vet and landed here.

My dog was nervous, even more so than usual, and shaking like a leaf (another symptom of lyme disease!!!).  Dr. Housley was very patient with him, not rushed at all.  He's small, so he could fit on the exam table, but he wasn't having any of it.  So she sat down on the floor to see if he'd come to her on his own.  He never got comfy enough so I helped coax him over.  She did most of her checking right there on the floor, and spoke so calmly and patiently with him.  Honestly, I think behavior like this should be normal and expected with a vet, but I've experienced so many lately that are jumpy and nervous around my tiny, harmless dog (which of course only makes it worse) that I've begun to wonder if people who become vets are even animal lovers these days!

She dispelled some of my worry over lyme disease but said that it's always possible, so the decision to do a tick culture was up to me.  For the peace of mind, I said yes.  This was Saturday afternoon and she warned that because it was the weekend, it could be Tuesday or Wednesday before we heard back.  They called before 9am on Tuesday and spent a good 10 minutes on the phone with my husband.  After telling him the results were all negative they asked how he was doing and if the pain medication they'd prescribed seems to be working (which it has).

Side note, the intern (Cindy?  I think that was her name) who sat in on our exam was a sweetheart.

The total for our visit (exam, pain meds, muscle relaxant meds, and tick culture test) was just over $300.  It seems about standard to me, in my limited experience.

So overall the experience was good, but Dr. Housley's care with my dog and general demeanor put it over the top.  I can't remember the last time I had such a good experience with a veterinarian.

This Place is the best vet I have ever been to in my entire time of having pets.  (I have 2 dogs, 11 and 12 years old). They fit me in on a sunday, when they were completely booked up, and my dog princess had gotten hurt but I didn't know what was wrong she was just crying and crying like I have never heard in 12 years. I was told I would probably have to wait as they were booked up, so I said ok rather than going to emergency room. Princess was still crying and it just broke my heart so I came out and asked about the emergency vet place/fees and even though I needed to see a vet, a technician came to my rescue, she was so nice and caring, and checked princess for more than I had even came in for (her eyes were cloudy, etc..) and shhhh she gave her lots of yummy treats too :)
I came out ecstatic that I had found such an amazing vet clinic and I would recommend them Overland Vet Clinic to anyone in a blink of an eye.  Thanks you to the technician and the Dr. as well.  You guys helped me so much and were just the best!

Again, recommending the wonderful care this clinic provides. Dr. Housley examined  my poor cat, 13 years old and succombing to cancer. She carefully assessed the cat's health and emotional state. We decided to accept her decision that this cat could live a good quality life for about another 6-12 months with the aid of steriods, which slow down cancer growth and diminish pain. I've taken steroids for pain and inflammation and can verify that they are effective.  This is the second incident where I have brought a cat here, and the cat PURRS during the exam instead of the usual shaking and cowering.
I can't speak of this group highly enough!

This is by far the best vet I've ever been to! Dr. Housley is such a nice person, super good with our pet and avoided jumping to add on unneeded tests. She's not just there for the money, she actually cares about us and our puppy!! In fact, our initial exam was at no charge thanks to her because our puppy was originally a stray!!! I was in shock! As long as I am living in L.A., I will be returning to this vet for all of my animals.

I've taken my cats to OVC since I moved to LA over 5 years ago.  I like all of the doctors there and really believe they love their job.  Dr. Metten took wonderful care of my 17 year old cat when she was diagnosed with cancer and followed up with me after she had passed away to make sure we (me and the other cat) were doing OK.

My 8 year old cat has been diabetic for 2 years and they've taken great care of her  - she is actually there now for routine blood work after a hypoglycemic incident yesterday.  Their prices are reasonable and the doctors are always able to answer any questions I have about her diabetes.

I know everyone is entitled to their opinion but I really believe the staff genuinely care about their clients, both 2 & 4 legs.

Great caring doctors, the staff is professional and they take very good care of my lil pup.  She got her spay surgery here, and she healed very quickly, with no itching or scarring (read: she didn't need a "cone" because it healed so well!). I only gave it one less star because it's pretty expensive.

We brought our cat, Tachi, to Dr Schwartz because he was acting strange, missing the kitty litter, and acting much more skittish that usual.  Dr. Schwartz must be the cat whisperer!  He suggested that it was territorial behavior and asked if there were new cats in the area.  The next day we found out our new neighbors have two new cats.  The simple easy fixes that Dr. Schwartz suggested have really calmed Tachi down.  He's no longer threatened by our new neighbors, and we are no longer cleaning carpet.

    Thanks Dr. Schwartz!!!

My kitty had an allergic reaction to her flea collar. I'm not proud to admit I was freaking out a bit...the lady on the phone was super nice and helpful. I was able to bring Luna in that day (Sunday mind you) to be checked out and get a flee bath.

The staff was super friendly I filled out some paper work and then Dr. Housley came over and sat down next to Luna and I. She checked Lulu's little bald spot on her neck, and agreed it was an allergic reaction. PHEW! The doctor was so sweet with Luna whom was now the one freaking out. She talked to my kitty even commenting that she was happy to see a friendly cat, she was having a day of grumpy furry patients (and owners (not me)). Soon Luna was purring at the Doctor's touch!! I took it as a great sign :)

A couple hours later I picked up my clean kitty, and one and a half hours later she's acknowledging my existence again! Yeah me!!!

    Thank you Overland Veterinary Clinic!!

    Love,
    Julia & Luna Bella

Dr. Schwartz neutered my French Bulldog a few months ago & it went smoothly. This is a brachycephalic (snub-nose) breed that can have issues with anesthesia. When these dogs go under anesthesia they should have an endotracheal tube (ET) placed in his or her trachea and never be masked down.  Dr. Schwartz was very knowledgeable of this so I trusted my guy to be safe under his care. **Trust me, some vets do NOT use this protocol that lack experience with the breed unfortunately.

I also want to say Dr. Housely, who I saw today because my guy had a bit of an ear infection, is really wonderful. She took so much time with me, is so kind and really is very knowledgeable. I've seen all 3 of the vets and to be honest, I think Dr. Housely may be my go to vet now. She works Thursday-Sunday.

Whadda ya know, kitty amoxicillan ALSO tastes like bubblegum! Or, smells like it at least. And I have no idea if kitties even like bubblegum. But still, hooray for tasty antibiotics!

Side note: Kitty is all better now. Yay!

We had good experiences at Overland Veterinary Clinic.  The receptionists there are very kind and attentive, the waiting area is spacious, so it gives you a little more room to breathe with your pet.  The parking lot is tight, but parking on the street typically isn't too bad.

My dog Jack had a lack of appetite, seemed less energetic and his diarrhea changed to constipation.  The vet who examined him seemed to think he was OK.  I brought a stool sample in and they tested it.  A vet called me the next day to explain that Jack had hookworm and coccidia.   I thought the vet who examined him was OK, but Dr. Schwartz who spoke to me on two occasions (once on the phone and once when I got the medication) struck me as more thorough.

I also got a great flea medication for Jack called Comfortis.  It seems to have done the trick!

Overall, this is a good veterinary clinic and the prices are very reasonable compared to others.
