My friend Tylea told me a story about eating at Outlaw Barbecue.   When she went, it was loud and crowded and full of fun folks, and they had ribs and barbecue chicken that were outstanding...

So we were going to a movie later (in Attleboro) and decided to eat here (Tylea and I).  She was all excited to try the brisket which was supposed to be awesome...

We get in there I I hear all about this fantastic prime rib.   I'm not one to choose prime rib often, but a fantastic tender cut can be awesome on occasion.  So I ordered the prime rib and she ordered ribs (because they were out of brisket) and we both ordered dessert nachos and tater tots as our appetizers.

Dessert Nachos:  Yes, dessert first.   Life is short.  These were very good.  Pretty much flour tortillas deep fried with cinnamon and sugar and chocolate sauce and whipped cream.  Not fancy.  No fuss.  Could have used some ice cream.  But very good.

Tater Tots:  Oh.  My.  God.   Tater tots.  You know, I don't know if I've ever had a tater tot that's been fried before?  How awesome are these?   AWE-SOME.  That's how.   Try them.

Ribs:  NO RIBS.   Our server saw them pull out brisket and offered to change my friends order...  so we did.. and she got brisket.

Brisket:  Meh.  Not nearly as delicious as discussed.  Edible once slathered with barbecue sauce but not amazing by any means.

Prime Rib:  Worst prime rib ever.  I ordered it medium rare and I got a cut that was medium well.  I only ate a quarter of it, which was only half of what was edible, as they other half was giant chunks of solid fat.  I know prime rib is a fattier cut and I expect some, but this was ridiculous.

Side items:    Mashed potatoes were okay.  Baked potato was too small and I question if it was actually baked (despite it's presentation in foil) since the skin was soft.  Cole slaw was pretty much just cabbage and a little mayo.

My friend swears it was the best place ever the last time she had gone, so I will try it again (and order the chicken), but currently I give it three stars... well, two stars and then a bonus star because our server was fantastic!

This is my plan B for Pats and Revs games when the tailgate ain't happening. You can get your drink on before the game and eat some decent food. It's just ok BBQ. Ribs can be chewy. Pulled pork is good. The people are very nice. They do a buffet for the Pats games which is a great value, I like the chicken for that (BBQ chicken may be the best BBQ item). Sides are tasty.  Burgers are a good choice, sandwiches on potato rolls are a better choice:BBQ beef or pulled pork are my fav. Hot wings are respectable. I like the Saloon-with-Biker-Vibe decor.

    * as a BBQ joint 3 stars.
    * fourth star = location, location, location. Have parked here for football, simplified things greatly. Park-drink-eat-game-easy-exit.
    * food is as good or better than the Stadium's, slightly cheaper.

WTF?!?!  They call this BBQ?  This slop they pass off as BBQ should be outlawed!  I ordered the Barnyard Combo with ribs, pulled pork, and chopped beef.  It came with "homemade" beans, slaw, and a choice of potato/veggie.  I picked the tater tots, which ended up being the best part of the meal.

First of all, the beans are not homemade.  The beans were some brand of baked beans out of a can and doctored with some minced onions and other bits of crap.  That doesn't make it homemade.  Come on, this is New England.  Thousands of us have grown up on institutional baked beans out of a can.  You think we can't tell the difference?

This was by far the worst BBQ I have ever eaten.  The ribs were ok, they were crisped up on the grill and were tender enough, but they tasted stale.  The pulled pork was dry and flavorless.  And then we have the "chopped" beef.  When I think of chopped BBQ beef, I think of a hunk of brisket or shoulder taken off the pit and hacked with big knife into random chunks.  What I got was a mound of diced cubes of beef drenched in their crappy sauce.  More on the sauce later.  Think of diced frozen carrots out of a bag only not as uniform in size.  The only way you can do that with the beef is to dice it cold.  That means it was definitely not fresh off the pit.  It was probably from the day before or longer.  Even worse was the fact that the beef was tough.  It was like chewing on little cubes of rubber.  Another look at the menu and you notice BBQ beef pizza.  Guess what this beef was meant for?  And for all I know it was probably for their "award winning" chili.  I bet that award they won was homemade too.

Finally there was the sauce.  Oh, boy, what to say.  It was certainly homemade, because you can't buy stuff this bad, not even at the Dollar Store.  It looked like Jed Clampett's "bubbling crude...oil that is, black gold, Texas tea."  And it tasted as bad as it looked.  I can tell it was molasses, vinegar, liquid smoke and some spice for a little kick.  But there was so much liquid smoke that it just left this horrible aftertaste.

The only thing I liked about this place was the atmosphere.  It's a dive for sure.  It's loud and the language is course.  They have parking reserved for bikes.  It's a working man's place.  But even a working man deserves better than this slop.

i'm giving it 4 stars because...
although the drive was longer than the norm, the crawfish was BLAH UGH BLUUUH- it was a different, new experience.

we went solely for the crawfish and we were disappointed. they were previously frozen and you could tell from its spongy shell.  however, their pulled pork and their beans were yummy. the decoration was a story of its own. think old western jail with patriots (football) mixed in and throw in a tropical tree or two somewhere and a polker table in the back room with funky porn like mirrors near the bathrooms and you get yourself the outlaw.
