Pro:
The Zips were very fun.  Guides were very fun and I felt completely safe with them. We ended the day on the new 1800ft zip and it was all it was expected to be. After the zips we went to a secret swimming hole that had a zip to jump off of into the water and a high dive platform that required more courage than the zips.

Con:
The lunch provided wasn't very good. It was a wrap and it was soggy. Make sure you take mosquito repellant because they try to eat you alive if you don't have some.  One of the guides smelled kinda bad so it was a turn off when he was strapping me into the harness.

I would use this company again.

Fun experience overall. The tour guides are friendly and enjoyable, but a little funky, maybe in a good way, but most likely not. (Put on some deodorant people!)

Did three ziplines: one short descending line, one where you can either rappel yourself or have one of the guides rappel you over a waterfall, and a longer one that goes over the river and halfway back. Normally at the end, the tour guides lead you to the Kipu Falls where you can swim. This time however, due to a flash flood a couple of days before, we couldn't swim and were given the option of ziplining three times each line.

What gives Outfitters Kauai 3 stars is their forwardness (tour guide tried to slap the mosquitoes off of my sister-in-law's thighs right in front of my brother... Weird!), poor attitudes at the front desk, extremely stinky and dirty gear (they don't wash or disinfect the gear after each use), and no prior warning of the exceedingly massive quantities of mosquitoes at the zipline sites (I'm currently suffering from 80+ bugbites... Bring insect repellant!!)

Outfitters Kauai definitely has potential, though. I hope they improve on areas that need work. Regardless, I had fun.

We are on our honeymoon here in Kauai!

We went today to Outfitters Kauai for their big zip line tour.  It was a mix of beautiful scenery, thrills, and laughs with the friendly tour guides.  (There was also time at the end for the group to visit a nice private natural pool & mini waterfall that we could all jump into at the end of the day.  AWESOME!)

The day began at 7:15am (to meet up) and ended at about 1:15pm when we were brought back to the store.

The guides were Ben, Taylor & Matt (hope I got that right!)  They were super friendly guys... made it fun.

In between your turn to zip, you get to look over beautiful views of lush greenery.... very nice!

The biggest complaint I heard from one very grumpy person on our tour (not the guides fault, I think she was just that type of complainer-personality) was that it wasn't moving fast enough... Well, for me, I had fun watching the other 11 people -- including my hubby -- take their turn across the line.  I mean, it can't be thrilling EVERY single minute!  Its definitely thrilling for your turn, but then you rest and watch other people go.

They guides were laid back, but definitely seemed to be concerned about safety, so that was great.

It was mostly under the tree canopy & shade, so for me, no sunblock needed. But if you go remember to wear bug spray/repellent & wear your swimsuit under your shorts & t-shirts!

Also, we were worried about bringing our point & shoot camera... just bring it, you will be fine.

Did the Kayak Tour and hike to Hidden Falls

Total time: 5 hours-ish (including the van drive/transport)

Tour Guide was very knowledgable and friendly

Price of the tour: dont worry about that because it's worth it when you get to Secret Falls

Re: Secret Falls -- wear your swimsuit! You MUST swim underthe 100+ft falls and have the water fall on you! it's an experience!

Definietly recommend this tour company. Didnt do the zipline due to some medical problems, but next time....... next time :-)

HK's Advice:
-- you cannot miss Secret Falls!

We joined these guys on a half-day zip line trek through the woods on the south end of the island, to Kipu falls, where parts of the original Indiana Jones movie were filmed!

Our tour guides were awesome... two guys named Nate and Arem, both totally buff and as sweet as could be. Arem was also ridiculously hot... a nice plus. :-)

I had hoped for a little bit more zip lining on this trip which would have been enough for me to dock a star, except that everything else was so good. Altogether, there were three zip lines... one very short one, one that included a short rappel, and one more extreme line (my favorite), which sent you soaring upside-down over a river. I could have done that one a BUNCH of times! Unfortunately, we only got two shots each.

Outfitters Kauai also gives you a nice snack box so you won't go hungry on your trek.

Leave your kids at the hotel, and anyone else that could slow your ass down!! And definitely make a reservation at Kauai Outfitters! And make sure you book the Kipu Falls Safari - a full day adventure. At $175+tax it might seem a little pricey, but it is worth every dime, nickel, and penny. The adventure starts with a 2-mile kayak down Hule'ia River, then a small hike through a lush forest, rope swing into a fresh water pool, then a tour of Kipu Ranch in a farm truck, then a picnic lunch, then ziplining, then rope swing down Kipu Falls, theeeeennn a boat tour up the river. the tour guides are ultra friendly and so kick back. OMG! you'll have fun i promise!!
