Excellent for breakfast.  The coffee is roasted on premises, so you can just get a cup or a pound or two -- I recommend the Outer Banks blend.  Tea, smoothies, and other drinks are also available.  Pastries (scones, croissants, etc.) are very good and from the bakery in Corolla Light.

The decor is clean and reminiscent of Central America.  Very friendly staff.  Should you desire, John will gladly answer any of your questions about roasting coffee.

There's craft soda and lots of candy on the plus side, and underwhelming coffee (neither especially strong nor especially flavorful) and an unwelcoming feel on the minus. Now, I live in Philadelphia, the city of brotherly attitude, and I get suspicious when anyone is too nice, but between the multiple ostensibly-funny-but-really-kinda-bitter-and-now-I -feel-a-little-uncomfortable signs and the utterly indifferent service, I didn't much feel like going back here.

5 Stars for the coffee and 1 star for the rudey tudey attitudey that we got each day.

We visited this coffee shop each morning of our 7 day stay in Corolla. We were excited that a tasty little coffee shop was within walking distance of our beach abode.

On the first day we strolled in, waited in a short line, and I placed my order:

(I always order the same drink - no matter what - no matter where I am.)

Large Chai Latte Add 2 Shots of Espresso

The fellow taking the order and punching it into the register did as I asked, but then the rudey tudey attitudey Batista said abruptly "Chai Lattes do not come with espresso!" I told him I knew that, but was asking that he ADD two shots to the latte...

    Whatever.

Got the coffee, no sorry, no thank you, no have a nice day, nada. The coffees were delish - nicely prepared - good flavor - hot - fresh.

Each day we got the same drinks and generally the same service, with the exception of the re-questioning about making the Chai Latte "dirty".

However, the thing that we found the most ironically amusing was the fact that this place has multiple signs that say things like:

"Rude people should find coffee elsewhere."

I would hate to see "rude" if they think they are friendly!

They've come under new ownership/management since I last visited in 2006 -- that time, I resented them charging for wi-fi but LOVED the coffee & the atmosphere and had to buy the t-shirt, the mug -- all of it.
This time, 2010  . . . ugh.  My espresso beverage tasted like hot milk, my husband's was equally bad.  There was an almost-dead fly wiggling in the pastry case.  They have all these little notes posted about 'rude people can get coffee elsewhere' and 'we don't use pretentious names for our beverages' -- signs like that need some spunky staff and a good coffee to back them up, and it just wasn't here.  As it does seem to be the only coffee place for miles and miles, it was a real disappointment.

So the coffee maker at the house was hella lame. Thank goodness we had the Outer Banks Coffee nearby. Although this place is quite pricy ($2.25 for a 16 oz coffee, $4 for a latte) the quality of their coffee was top notch. I particularly liked this Ethiopian blend they had one. Rich and strong. The atmosphere is very fun and the people working there were young, friendly, and good at their job.

    +1 Star for having Wi-Fi.

The being-open-when-you-want-coffee factor was a bit of a problem. They closed at 3PM each day. So much for after-dinner (or after-lunch. Can you tell that I'm a caffeine addict?) coffee. One time I got there at 10 AM and there was a sign in the door saying

    "Be back in 5 minutes"

After 10 minutes, a pickup truck speeds into the spot next to my car. This dude jumps out of the car, leaving it running with his puppy in the passenger seat, and races into the coffee shop. I followed him in even though the lights weren't on and ordered my coffees. After the debit card machine malfunctioned, he ended up giving me the coffees for free which was very cool.

-1 star for all of the touristy souveniers they try to peddle.

+1 Star for the funny misogynist coffee mugs they sell. Of course I'm not gonna buy any of them but they're fun to read while you wait in line. You know the ones I'm talking about., The ones with the campy 50's photos that have catchy slogans like,

MARRIAGE: The end of a perfectly good sex life
MARTINIS: Helping people lower their standards since 1912
BEER: Helping white people dance since 1837

    and my personal favorite,

ROSES: Foreplay without the hard work.

Service was great. The man behind the counter gave us free wifi when we asked, as we had bought coffee and food. This was huge, as my girlfriend and I had stopped in for a few hours to get some work done. Coffee was a bit weak, but I've definitely had much worse. Decent atmosphere as well. I'd go again.

I almost killed the entire family when I saw this place from the road.  I grabbed the wheel, jerked it to the right and screamed: THERE!  GODDAMMIT! THERE!

This is about the ONLY espresso place in OBX.  It is also the only reason they are not fishing my family out of the Atlantic.

Once would think that being really the only game in town in terms of coffee in Corolla (OBX) that one would settle when it came to coffee.  I've been going to this same coffee shop every morning for the past 3 years during the week I stay at the outer banks.

The people are super friendly.  It is Wi -Fi enabled but also cell phone prohibitive.  A sign is posted that request that rude people should find coffee someplace else.

Coffee is really good too.  The roast their own beans on site.  From a my bare bones Americano (black) to a full fat latte or cap, they have yet to disappoint.  Pastries have been great every time I've had them as well.  This place is highly recommended by me.

Cute local coffee shop that roasts their own beans and make fantastic espresso drinks. Latte was amazing. Frappes were meh. Lots of candy, baked goods. Free book exchange- you bring one in, you take one from their shelves. My stars are based on the latte which was one of the better ones I've had. Taste reminded me of Murky Coffee DC.

If you need a coffee.....don't go to this coffee shop. Go back to your beach house and make drip coffee.  It will be stronger and better than any drink form here. I got a double short latte and I could not even taste the cofffe in it and it was lukewarm. I went back and and asked for a new drink and the guy just put another shot in the coffee.  I might be from Seattle but this place is horrible.  To make it worse there were 2 guys inside the shop eating burgers and fries and they place only sold coffee and candy.

I personally liked the baristas quirkiness, although he probably wouldn't want to be called that! My iced mochas were good, and so were the chocolate covered espresso beans....

Decent coffee but definitely not the best I have had. Staff was super friendly. Has only outdoor seating so check the weather if you are planning on hanging out to read the paper. Not a big selection of food.

Not impressed. Drinks were nothing special and the staff was too disinterested to complete our order, much less offer a simple "sorry". Two stars because the shop is cute and there is plenty of parking and outside seating. Medium mocha frappe, medium cherry smoothie and one bottled water - $13.
