Outdoor Bound is awesome!

I have been on a number of hikes with ODB from the Catskills to Peru. Connie and Kirk prep you well for the treks, which was great for a neophyte hiker like me. The guides have all been knowledgeable and have made me feel well-taken-care-of. They are all EMTs and are proactive with a moleskin patch so you emerge from your hike blister-free!

The local hikes are a great way to kick your own ass while connecting with nature in the beautiful Catskills. If you want to look great in a short dress, I recommend the Breakneck Ridge hike.

My trip to Peru was absolutely amazing. ODB partnered with local guides to create a hiking experience that was profound, replete with breathtaking views and gourmet meals. We avoided the populous Inca Trail and had the Andes all to ourselves. All told, this was one of the coolest trips I've taken.

History

Established in 1982

We are Kirk and Connie, and we have owned and run Outdoor Bound Adventures since 2003. We revamped the company, creating an incredibly diverse and creative mix of adventures. Both native Missourians, we moved to NYC together in 2002 and found ourselves wishing for easy ways to get back to nature. So we bought the company, injected new energy and created hundreds of new trips for other active, fun New Yorkers. We attract the best guides in the business--outdoor professionals with years of experience, who know how to have FUN!
We continue the 26 year history of our company as a source of exploration, expansion and experience -- of ourselves, the world around us and the constantly developing mind and body. Through countless group activities we provide the opportunity for people to develop new skills, to aspire to new challenges and to attain higher levels of health and awareness in a safe environment.

Meet the Business Owner: Kirk and Connie X.

Kirk: Wilderness First Responder, NYS Trail Guide, CPR, Water Safety. Since 2003, Kirk has co-owned Outdoor Bound. Kirk's adventures throughout the world reflect an appreciation for fearless travel. A lifelong athlete and three-time NYC Marathoner. Kirk loves the international mix of people who come on Outdoor Bound trips.
Connie: Wilderness EMT, NYS Trail Guide, CPR, Water Safety
Lifelong adventurer, former Science teacher and co-owner of Outdoor Bound Adventures. Connie has years of experience hiking, climbing, boating, camping, skiing, deep-water scuba diving, climbing cliffs and jumping off them. Her greatest travel experiences include swimming with dolphins & manatees, hand-feeding howler monkeys and diving with sharks.
We can't wait to share our love of the outdoors and adventure with you! There are too many ways to lose your soul in NYC...concrete, noise, exhaust fumes, artificial light. We'll introduce you to fun, active, like-minded New Yorkers who love the outdoors.
