Was visiting Outback in anticipation of the Steak and Lobster they were promoting on their website.

http://909food.blogspo...

I was excited to see the menu on the website with 15 items under $15.00.  Unfortunately our server explained this special was not offered in California.  We were quite disappointed.  Our last visit to Outback was quite a few years ago.  We had not been impressed with the food or prices.  This time we left with a better impression and could possibly return in the future.

The restaurant is very clean.  Service was prompt and friendly.  The decor is Australian themed, shark jaws and the like on the walls for decor.

The server started us out with a nice mini loaf of warm Brown bread and butter.  The bread was very good and we had seconds.

Ordered their signature "Bloomin Onion", it is a battered deep fried whole onion.  It was crispy and hot, served with a semi spicy sauce.  We enjoyed it, too much for the three of us to finish.

The Sirloin Steak was charred on the outside and medium rare as ordered inside.  It was served with two sides. The stuffed baked potato was medium sized, the fresh steamed vegetables were very fresh and tasty.  The steak was well seasoned and juicy, I would order this item again.  The "Chicken on the Barbie" was a char broiled chicken breast with BBQ sauce served on the side.  The chicken was a bit dry, the BBQ sauce was nothing special, tasted like typical out of the bottle variety.  The crab stuffed shrimp seemed to be a bit small. The accompanying roasted filet was a bit dry.  The garlic mashed potatoes did taste of roasted garlic, and were delicious.  Overall we were pleased with our meal, though the portions seemed somewhat downsized.  Our only complaint is they have a door on the side for take out.  Every time the door was opened a cold breeze chilled the restaurant.  Our server was very attentive and anticipated our needs.  We will keep Outback on our list of dining out alternatives.  The San Bernardino location now opens at 11:30 am M-F for lunch.

Left this place feeling satisfied & 'inspired'!

Can't wait to emulate their shrimp on the Barbie.. This was the BEST grilled jumbo shrimp I've ever had in my entire life and can still taste it when I think of it.. no kidding! Its as if they had grilled it fresh after grilling a pork-dish on the same grill - It had a smokey bacon taste to it & you could tell from the juicy succulent inside that it was marinated well & not overcooked!

The rest of my party had the usual steak suspects & were more than content! Try their onion blossom - I've never had anything like this before, because I'm not big on fried stuff, but its OK to split between 4-6 people.

Their service was quick & good - the staff know their stuff well & can customize your dish to suit your taste. Their prices match their quality. I'd go there again... perhaps this weekend (I've heard some great reviews about their coconut shrimp)... See you there!

People don't seem to yelp much in San Bernardino. It's a shame because it might help places like this improve.

For training this week we're stuck here and we have two options for dining: BJ's, which is right across the parking lot from the hotel, or Outback, which is down the street.

Outback sucks. I've never had a good meal from there. Parts have been OK but never memorable.

Tonight was no exception. I ordered the Victoria's Fillet. Oh my god I've never had tougher fillet. I ordered it medium-rare but it came out rare... which would've been fine if it was tender like it should have been... it wasn't. The mashed potatoes were nothing to write home about either. The sweet potato was really good... but then again... it's a sweet potato... you just cook it, throw some butter on top, and you're done.

Needless to say, we're going to BJ's tomorrow night.

My first time at this chain was here.  Can be hit or miss.  I love the bread they bring out.  I unfortunately now only go with coupons.  =P

We love the Outback. One of our very first dates was at this Outback and we've been going there ever since, for almost 10 years.

If you are local, definitely DON'T come on Tuesday because we have a GREAT time with Neils, the bartender, and the place is full! :) The entire service staff is wonderful and many of them are now our long-time friends.

The proprieter, Mark, does a great job of running a tight ship and is always very accomodating.  This Outback is wonderful about making dishes healthier (sans butter, etc) and they are very knowledgeable about the menu.

One area of improvement necessary:  Put purse hooks under the bar!!! :)
