Decent steaks and stuff. Lively wait staff.
Don't get me wrong. I like the high-end steakhouses too.
Want a steak just get up and go. No worries.
To start off with I must admit that my family and I have been a fan of this restaurant ever since it opened. We usually come here for family birthday dinners and before special events, etc. So in those days I would've given it 5 stars...
With that being said we recently went to dinner here to celebrate my husband's birthday and were extremely disappointed with the new menu changes. They took off the Drover's Platter!!! NOOOooooo!!! When I asked the waiter if we could get it regardless of it not being on the menu, he just flat out said "no, just pick something else lady". I was upset and told him we would take the check for the drinks we had already and just as I got up to leave he came back to the table and said they would go ahead and do it this one time for a premium. We were hungry so I agreed. $24.95 per person later...when it used to be $18.95...ok, it was still a good dinner.
I am saddened by the menu changes, smaller portion sizes with higher rates, and believe the waiting staff could have conducted themselves in a better manner as well; rather than just flat out saying NO, being rude and almost losing a table full of customers, he should've checked first and let me know.
Will we continue to go now that the Drover's Platter is off the menu?? Not likely... :(
Let me start off by saying Outback is by far my favorite restaurant of all time. However, the one in the Pruneyard is just horrid.
I will give major kudos to the hostess, Nicole, I have been there so many times I have actually come to learn her name, & The dude in curb side pick-up that always pronounces my name wrong, but is super friendly. Pretty much the only two people with any customer service skills in the entire place.
Being that I am younger, I have come to terms with the fact that servers will generally put preference over the older guests then the younger, mainly because younger people have a tendency not to tip well. However, I believe Outback has a serious customer service problem that management needs to address with their servers, about being considerate to everyone. Out of the last 4 times I have eaten here, our waiters have just about ignored us, until the time the bill comes, and then our empty drinks magically refill themselves and they become polite again.
Because I have been a server before, I understand what it's like to run back and forth all day and deal with rude guests, with not so much as a thank you. However, when a young guest is saying please and thank you for everything, and cleans up the table for you (or the busser), and doesn't demand anything quirky except for maybe no seasoning on the veggies, you should seriously consider treating them like every other guest. Regardless of the service, almost every time we have left well over 20% (in cash, if you understand the importance of that), and yet we still continue to be treated poorly.
On another note, the food has always been really really good, and the kitchen has really impressed me with the ability to be uniform about all the dishes, I always order the same thing, and it's just like the way I remembered it.
Oh Outback. A fan I am of your 2000 calorie blooming onion, heavily sugared Wallaby Darned, and fat laden Walkbabout soup. Such a fan that I needed to take a 2-3 year hiatus from eating here because HELLO, it doesn't work so well in the 'healthy lifestyle' plan. Oh, and I have mad love for their 'wheat' bread slathered with creamy butter.
After a particularly long week of work and another weekend of moving, we decided we needed some serious comfort food and Outback was it.
45 minute wait on a Sunday night are you SERIOUS? Recession people??? Shouldn't everyone be at McDonalds??? Nevermind...25 min later we are seated and our experience begins. When will I learn to not even bother with an entree? A drink, an onion, a soup, and a loaf of bread all my own and I'm good. Dessert? As if, where would it go???
$65 bill with tip. Not exactly cheap, but service was pretty good and I have to say I think their steak quality has gone up a notch since 2-3 years ago.
See ya in another 2-3 years, Outback. My jeans cannot take you on a regular basis and my stretchy pants are getting worn out from eating too many choco covered JOJOs.

We group of 12 with no reservations on a Saturday night were seated in 20 minutes. The kids got crayons and activity booklets to distract them from their Nintendo DS and I got myself a large agave 'rita. For some reason I thought soda cans were 20oz and wanted to start my night off slow. Large it was, soda-can it was not. Don't get the 'rita; all that sugar will shut you down. Srsly.
Everyone at the table ended up getting a Bacon Cheese Burger with varying degrees of bloodiness. They were all decently cooked. The fries were not very good. The seared ahi salad and it looked like it was a few pieces of ahi on a bed of iceberg lettuce and cabbage. Gross.
Service was so-so. 2 tiny loaves of bread for 12 people, no one came by to refill waters or sodas. Blah blah blah. It's Outback at the Pruneyard, what can I say.

ZOMG what is a vegetarian doing at Outback?!?! being a great friend !!
Yes my carnivorous peeps like the meat at this joint, so I tag along and rack up some good karma going there. They always rave about "no rules, just right" because the meat is consistent and they like it.
For me, and for any vegetarian out there, this is how you survive the experience: Walhalla Pasta !!! It's not on the menu anymore but they still make it if you ask them to. I sub in penne noodles sometimes, and add basil and tomato and its super tasty. Throw in a fresh salad, and that bread and I am a happy veggie camper.
It's survivable, not the best meal eVar, but ok. I have had pretty consistent ok service from the waiters each time I have gone - and this one time when our food was very late the server actually got the manager herself to come and apologize and they comp'd some money off our bill and we weren't even at all upset or totally noticing the long delay.
I like this joint. Not shabby and just a solid meal.
I used to go to this Outback all the time when I lived right outside the Pruneyard. I went back the other night because I wanted to watch the game and everyone wanted to sit outside. Everything seemed ok at first until we got our apps with out any roll-ups and had to wait at least 5 min to get them after asking for them. Then we ordered our dinners. My friend and I ordered the Filet Wedge salad, with specifics on no blue cheese and no onions, and we thought it was odd that she asked us what other side we wanted. Another side? Sweet. We must have read it wrong. We even repeated , "oh we get sides with the Filet wedge? Cool." WRONG. She thought we said Filets with a wedge. So when we were presented with side salads, we knew she had got it wrong. The poor girl who brought them wasn't even our server so she had no clue what was wrong, took them back, then came back and tried to give them to us again, we sent them away again and FINALLY our server came out to clarify. So when she finally realized she made a mistake I said "right remember I said no onions, no blue cheese." Did she remember? NO. I got a shit ton of blue cheese which I hate, a shit ton of onions which I despise and ended up just eating the 2 sandwich meat style of filet slices they give you with the wedge(which is just like roast beef if you ask me), not even touching the salad. I know I should have sent it back but I was so annoyed at that point and everyone else had what they ordered, I said forget it and chalk it up to a night of wasted $30(since we all just evenly split our bills in a group)
Being a server, I know you always read back the order JUST IN CASE you or the guest made a mistake. ALWAYS. Guess not here. We still tipped her 20% because I believe in karma and feel bad that she sucked that night.
I get my revenge on Yelp anyways. I'm sticking with the Great Mall Outback if I go back. Way better service there. Too bad, I used to love this location.

We did the old-barnstorming-pop-in before the movie, Eagle Eye, trick. Told the waiter that we were in a rush. He handled it like a champ! We split: a No Rules Burger--medium, with everything except tomato and onion with the blue cheese dressing on the side, fries and a 22 oz Sam Adams October fest. Man O' Man do they make a tasty burger at Outback! Menu and descriptions.
And I would dare say it was picture perfect! Fluffy bun, plump juicy burger, and fresh nicely done toppings! The perfect amount of food for two. Not too full, just right!
Of course we still got the buttered popcorn, sour something candy, and a large diet to wash it all down with.
Advice: Stick with the burgers, fries, and beer and you won't be disappointed! Every once in a while (get a little excited drooling at the pictures on the menu) we stray from the proven recipe of perfection and we are muy disappointed--you will see the pretty pictures and get sucked in--don't, just take our advice! Or don't, you're a big-boy (or big-girl, but you have to be careful with that one!) you have free will, live and learn!!!

this outback location is wonderful. They manage their long waits with free appetizer samples (even I can't have them, it is a sweet thought, and my friends enjoy them) and really care to get things right..
Their entire staff knows the gluten free menu and make it easy for me to order and catch all the steps. On the rare instance when the kitchen misses something (or maybe the waitress didn't right down all the steps) they fix it right away, apologize and focus on making the rest of the dinner right. They understand that customers do not care who made the mistake, we just want it fixed with an apology and a smile. Thank you campbell! I am sorry we moved far away from you!
Well I used to give it 4 Stars and it's dropped down to 3. Went here with a friend and sat at the bar on a Friday night at 5:00. Our service was not up to their standards (they had 3 bar tenders and we sat with empty drinks) and the ahi tuna they brought us was not good - as in not fresh not good... In fairness my french onion soup was good and so was the grilled shrimp and our server did take the ahi off of the bill without us even asking after we told her that it didn't taste right.
I will be back but will steer clear of the Ahi.

Ok, it's a chain. But this one delivers well. I love the French Onion Soup.
I'll keep this short and sweet.
Ordered, got half my order. Got the part I wanted first umm... Last?
Waitress, so-so..
Price.. Overpriced but hey I am a sucker for late night eats..
Fat ass rude bitch that acosted the hostess as we were trying to be seated -1.
A decent meal with good friends +1.

The service here is really good, but that's about where my praise for this restaurant ends. The prices in this exceptionally noisy restaurant are just way too high for the overcooked, over-salted, sub-par food that you get.
Typical chain-style deep fried everything at unreasonable prices. Bleh.
I went to this restaurant begrudgingly to meet up with some of my college friends for dinner. Begrudgingly because I really don't like going to chain-type restaurants. However, I was a little surprised with the food.
We headed in on a Saturday evening which means that Pruneyard is going to be packed with people going to dinner and that parking spots will be difficult to find. My friend that put the event together called about 20 minutes before our set meeting time, and was told that it would be about a 40 minute wait from when we arrive. Lucky for us, though, it was more like a 20 minute wait from when we arrived.
The menu is a little bit daunting with way too many choices for my little brain to select from. I went for the ribs and chicken platter. The ribs were actually fairly tasty but were drowned in barbecue sauce. Note to self, ask for it on the side, if possible, next time.
Service was good, and my beverage was consistently refilled--even before I even had to ask.
Will I return ... not too sure. It's been over 8 years since I've been there, and may wait a while to return!

Steak and garlic mash thats it everything else is gross. Black Angus Is The Best Try it.
I had been to Outback a couple times but was never that impressed...turns out I was ordering the wrong items. I recently went to Outback 2 weekends in a row because I discovered...the blue cheese crusted filet mignon. MMMMMMMM. So super good. This place is a great value. For 21.99 you get a nice 7oz, tender piece of filet mignon with a huge portion of mashed potatoes (or baked potato) and veggies or a salad. They are also very accomodating if you would like to make substitutions which is always nice.
Tip! Bring your own bottle of wine for only 5 dollar corkage..almost unheard of!!!!
Will be back often to Outback!
I usually only get the Grillers for take out with the Blue Cheese Chop salad.
Always prompt service. Well cooked food and nice people.
When I do go in I always try the Wallaby somthing or other. I haven't gotten great service inside infact one time I walked away so hurt.
It is consistent for the pickup window it's hit or miss inside.
I come here for the Kookaburra wings and the killer bread. Never have I had anything outside of this that is good and makes me want to come back...well maybe the bloomn onion from time to time.
Solid for a large chain.
I didn't think a chain could do it, but damn, that was a GREAT sirloin. My medium rare was actually medium rare. My garlic mashed potatoes were actually garlic-y, my Stella was...available. Service was spot-on...and we sat in the bar booth.
I did notice that they brought out some snacks for people that were waiting for tables too. That was a nice touch.
Door-kid/greeter Sean was chocked-full of smiles!

I guess a person who doesn't eat steak shouldn't be reviewing a steakhouse huh? Well I can give you a review on the seafood and the dessert! Oh and the cocktails! ;)
First off, try the patron margerita! Delcious! All margaritas should have Grand Marnier in them. That's the secret to the best ones!
I ordered the Cajun Tilapia topped with sauteed shrimp. It was pretty rich but I must have liked it cause I left no evidence of anything on my plate once I was through.
I'm not huge on chocolate lover either but I had a bite of the chocolate tower (make sure to order vanilla ice cream on the side) and it was amazing! I don't prefer the chain restaurants but eh, it wasn't too bad!

Recently visited this place for the first time with my friends. Nice interior, good staff, excellent steaks, excellent shiraz, margaritas so-so. Absolutely recommend for having a great dinner in a company of friends but give 4 stars because there is always way to perfection :)

I'll be the first to say that eating here is a bit naff and feels a little too early 90's. I can't help it though, I've completely developed an Outback addiction.
I've discovered two really great things about them. 1. They have a gluten free/wheat free menu online that makes it super reeediculously easy to order food for those of us food allergy losers. 2. Hearts of Palm Chicken. It is so SO good. Artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomatoes, grilled chicken (sometimes actually shaped like a heart) and a lemon sauce I've never been able to try. I get everything on the side, no sauce and then add in a yummy sweet potato as my accompaniment and YUM.
Baby story time...The last time we ate here, our order was a little messed up. We got home only to realize my poor hubby didn't get his Australian Chips. When we called the restaurant, they were so apologetic and asked how they could make it better. We just wanted to come back for the fries, so to help ease the situation, they gave us a free dessert to share and coupon's for free food on our next trip back. The manager even came out to the car to apologize. That was a little much and a bit embarrassing (it was just fries, folks!), but it's nice to see a big chain restaurant still try and take care of their customers when they goof up.

I just had to delete my original glowing review because I had horrible service on my birthday last Thursday. We decided on Outback because it is one of those places where you can bring your kids and be content with the fact that there will be drunk people who are louder than them. We got there 10 minutes before our reservation, yet we were seated promptly. Five stars. The hostess was a total sweetheart who complimented my skirt. Still five stars.
Our server comes around and tells us that he will be with us in a few minutes. When he came back- he asked us if we wanted any drinks from the bar which struck me as odd because we had our two kids. Most servers just ask if you would like to order drinks without a reference to alcohol. Whatever. Something about the way this guy carries himself and his non chalant demeanor bugged the hell out of me. It was like he was trying to tune us out after we turned down his offer of beverages "from the bar". Four stars
Three stars for not taking plates off of our table after our appetizer and before our meal came.
Two stars because our waiter never once asked if we needed refills.
One star for never bringing me a birthday dessert after my man took the time to hunt down our waiter and let him know it was my birthday.
(The kids always love this part because they get to eat the dessert!)
Two stars because the manager was nice enough to send a gift certificate to me to compensate.

They're still getting a two...but....after having had a bad experience, I was ready to write Outback off- at least for a while. However, a District Manager called me yesterday to personally apologize for our crappy meal and to offer me three certificates so we can come back and get new steaks. Now THAT, Ladies and Gentlemen, is customer service! Kudos to Outback for growing a pair, admitting a mistake and taking the necessary steps to rectify the situation.

I like the atmosphere at the Outback. You get a little of everything but it vibes well together. From the numerous conversations going on to the aroma of the food. Good family outing, if within your budget.
Be forwarned, order your steak one notch up so it will be just like you want. Example: if you like medium rare, order the next level up in how its done. Medium rare is pretty much sliced off the cow, placed on the grill for 10 seconds, and then brought to your table.
I have never had a bad experience with the waiting staff, in fact, the service has always been good. If you like a wide variety of food options, good service and a friendly staff, then this is the place to go. You can enjoy a family outing or hang out with some friends. Either way you do it, the atmosphere will be apropriate. ENJOY.

So it started off great, a beautiful Saturday afternoon, no wait, a seat on the patio - super. We sit down, the table is clean, the server is sweet, friendly and quick - perfect - from there though it was all down hill.
The atmosphere:
If you sit on the patio you have a lovely view of the crowded streets or the parking lot - neat huh?
They allow people to smoke on the patio - the last thing I want to taste when I am paying how much a meal?
Itty bitty stereo speakers = bad sound.
But the patio is spacious, clean and decent.
Service:
The door guys left much to be desired in being friendly and the host and hostess were lack luster as well - oh well a minute around them didn't kill me. She earned their second star from me!
Our wonderful little server was good at splitting our meal upon request, quick to bring anything we wanted, knew what to expect from us next and was very friendly and nice.
The food and drink:
Order a top self margarita - hahahahaha! Right about three sips and done, let alone there wasn't any alcohol - what a joke!
The bloomin' onion was alright, kind of lacked flavor except for the taste of something fried. Let alone the feeling of all that oil and fat sticking to the insides of you.
The free rye bread and butter was probably the most tasty part, that and the water.
A salad came with out meal, a blue cheese almond salad - basically a chopped salad with non fresh blue cheese and a vinger type of dressing - not my style. We shared a steak, we asked for medium and still got mooing. :( The mashed potatoes were ok, but too buttery - and that's a lot from me, I LOVE butter.
PASS!

I have been here a couple of times now, and have always been impressed with the food. My wife is determined to ruin every steak she eats by ordering them well-done. i tried a bite of her well-done new york strip, and was amazed by how good it was. Was a fan on the one in Newark as well. Great franchise.
ya, so not so good expierence here. the bf n i came here last night, n were seated then n there. but the table they gave us was really small (a 2-top) cuz my bf likes to sit beside me when we go out, so we asked for a bigger table. the hostess went back to the hostess stand to see where she can seat us. and then took us to a huge table that can seat 6 ppl. i was fine ok whatever, so we sit downn, and she just drops the meaus on the table and walks away, i turn to my bf to see if he noticed the rudeness n he totally did, which kinda annoyed us. the waitress was ok, and the food was pretty good. we had 2 cokes to drink and mid way through my bf finds a dead fly in his coke. how can a bartender not notice that???? ewwwww, i just dont understand!!! so we wont be going back... 2 stars for the good food.
Oh Outback...is there anything you CAN'T do?
I am giving Outback 4 instead of 5 stars (and really it should be 4 1/2) for a few reasons. One, I have given everything I've reviewed 5 stars and I need to break out of the mold, although really you shouldn't bother to write a review in my opinion unless something was either great or awful. Who needs to read about so-so? Two, although the Toowoomba Pasta is heavenly, about half the time it makes me have unpleasant restroom experiences. And three, the steak griller was kind of yucky and full of veins.
But. Outback can be relied on for awesome salads, delicious and consistent Outback Specials, and late night dining in general. The servers are always friendly and the meal is always satisfying. I can't think of any other restaurant this dependable for the price!
I have been to this Outback several times and I have never been disappointed. I always get the rib-eye, medium rare. The french green beans are kinda over cooked for my liking but the baked potato was really good...usually I get the garlic mash potatoes but I wanted to try something different. Their Wallaby Darn (aka Peach Bellini) is really good. It has about 3 shots in it and lets just say I was slightly buzzed and very thankful when the food arrived. The waitress was super, she even dated and wrote my order on the to-go box.

Went here a couple weeks ago for dinner around 9pm-ish. Usually there's a big crowd on Friday and Saturday nights. On this particular dinner it was a Friday night. The gf and I decided to be seated outdoors because the weather was nice. They let you seat yourselves to this pretty nice area on the side of the restaurant.
We only ordered a pint of beer, so can't say anything about the wine selection here...I'm guessing it's probably not that extensive. Anyways I ordered the rib eye which honestly wasn't too good. I could have grilled a better steak at home and it'd be half the price! The gf ordered the prime rib, which doesn't even compare to the prime rib at the Bellagio buffet. However, the sides that come with the meat are a plus. You get to choose 2 out of 6 I believe.
All in all...you could do much better at home with a grill, but if you're lazy and want to have a sit down meal with mediocre steak, go for it. Just don't expect it to be spectacular.

The cheesy fries here are divine! My roommate and I go here every month or so with intentions of actually eating real food, and what usually winds up happening is that we get the cheesy fries, and I immediately stuff a good quarter of the very generous plate (quite sufficient for 4-5 people) into my at the time seemingly cavernous stomach. By the time the waiter comes back to take our "real" food order, I am so stuffed I can't even imagine eating anything of substance. I usually order the steamed vegetables and the cream of potato soup (um, I love potatoes, if you couldn't tell). I've had a few other things on the menu, but really, I can't give you a good assessment of them, because all I can think about when it comes to the Outback is those damn fries.
Last night when we went, we were told that there would be a 40-50 minute wait and were handed a little sample of one some of their appetizers. We walked into the bar and found a table right away, so we just ate at the bar. A bit later, we saw more samples being handed out to those waiting to be seated, as well. Which I think is a nice little gesture. The fries were marvelous as always, the soup was great, the vegetables were steamed. I got some alcoholic lemonade concoction which was tasty, and my roommate got one of their specialty drinks called a Wallaby Darned with a chambord floater-quite yummy.
I always leave this place satisfied.
This placce is sooo good, but oh so fattening.
try their "aussie cheese fries" they're wonderful and their house salad w/ ranch. Their outback special is quite good, and the alice springs chicken. A little pricey but not that bad. If you haven't been here, go!! RIGHT NOW!!
I stopped here one night after coming back from a whitewater rafting weekend trip up in Sacramento. "Outback" seemed to be the most natural place for us to stop by after coming back from a weekend with no shower and no flushing toilet in the wilderness.
We had blooming Onion, baby back ribs and Crowns Fillet with blue cheese. Our super friendly waiter told me that ribs are his favorite - which turned out to be most of the things in the menu was his favorite anyhow. Ribs were tasty but I would have ordered it with sauce on the side. Crown Fillet with blue cheese was yummy! Meat was juicy and tender, but the blue cheese might have been a bit over powering but still it was one of the best stake that I had in a restaurant.
We brought back the leftover blooming onion home, reheated at 400F for 5-10 minutes and it was as good as when we ordered it at the restaurant. Loved the dipping sauce for this onion!!
I came here couple times in the past, but needed to wait forever to be seated and so we went to Rock Bottom instead. Now I know why this place was so packed. There are couple of "order to go" packing lot on the back for easy for take out customers.
I've been to Outback before, but not in a while. I met a friend there last night, though, and it prompted this review.
Wow. 20-30 minute wait on a Wednesday evening. If I hadn't been waiting for someone to arrive, and no way to contact them, I'd have gone somewhere else. I guess it's so busy because it's in the Pruneyard, but still. It's Outback, people.
Our wait staff (there were like FIVE of them) weren't the greatest. Oddly enough, the trainee who was our primary waitress was the best, so maybe that bodes well for the future. My friend got his root beer refilled without asking, but they didn't seem interested to know if I wanted another Corona. Not that I'm bitter.
The food here is tasty, but not spectacular. Out of the chain restaurants, though, I think it has a more inventive menu than most. It's a good place to meet people who have less adventurous palettes without boring the hell out of your own.
I always thought outback was like Fridays or some other not so good diner-ish place. Boy was I wrong. The outback next to camera 7 totally amazed me.
The portions are Huge, we could tell, so I split the 12 oz outback special and the French onion soup with a friend (we were hungry). The staff was very good about splitting the dishes, went out of their way to split everything well and even give us extra portions of salad etc. The food was great, way above my expectations. The drinks were tasty (Contreu Margarita not frozen no salt since my friend wanted the frozen).
So the food was really good, and the service was very friendly. I'd go back again next time I want some meat and I'm in the pruneyard.
I like the huge burgers. I had my post wedding dinner there once....that was neat. The food is decent..it's an average steakhouse i guess.
The place was great. The prime rib was wonderful. Another thing that we tried was a sampler of wings. They were great too. So i do not have any grudge against the place.
Plus, this is one place where i saw them handing out their special wings for tasting to all people. Of course, we did not have it since we had ordered it.
Second visit - I tried the sizzlers and they were great too. Plus we had some chips, which turned out to be good, esp with the bacon on it.
Another place that my lady-friend refuses to let me drag here to, but I acknowledge her reasons.
The trick is to stand in the bar area and then hover over people's tables until they finish eating... but be vigilant, you are not the only one that knows this trick. Getting a table here isn't easy.
If anyone is keeping track, it's the best baked potato ever. Good bread, and the steak is reliable.
