10 reviews for Otter's Chicken Tenders
Fast service. Good price. Great location.
Also usally lots of hotties eating here. Haha
God I love this place. I wish i lived in Nashville to eat here more often.
Its hard to find better chicken tenders than this.
Hello Chicken Fingers! When you have a craving, get here - stat! It's a great place to go and get your grease fix. You get the chicken fingers, fries, and buttered Texas toast! Yeah! Hits the spot when you feel like being bad! Their chicken is so tender and they do use fresh white meat. Granted, it's friend to death, but they are so good you'll be back for more!
They offer salads, but I would skip that. Go for what they're famous for! Let them do what they do! You can try to be good and get the grilled tenders, but they look dry to me. I know when I go here I'm going for the gusto! Great dipping sauce and fries cooked to perfection. And they have that rat pallet ice. Love rat pellet ice!!
You're gonna thank me for that one!! Promise.
I used to work with someone who only ordered chicken fingers, and she always wanted to go to Chili's to get them. I found this bizarre on a couple of different levels, but I have never had such a fervent devotion to only one foodstuff at one particular restaurant. Despite its location near the roundabout (or round-a-boot, as I like to say), I have been to Otter's a couple of times for lunch. Boy does it seem crowded.
Chicken tenders, fries, texas toast, iced tea. That's a good lunch. There might be other things on the menu, but I'm not sure why you would want to order them. Otter's does have a patio if the weather is nice. Another locally-owned chicken tender restaurant. I guess it is a good thing Nashville has at least two of them. And definitely do get the Otter's special sauce. I love it.
I wish there was a category for just "chicken fingers", because that's pretty much what you get at Otter's. Not chicken wings, but chicken fingers. Fried, grilled, or buffalo style--they are all FAN-FREAKIN'-TASTIC. Something in the spices they use, but they are different than other chicken finger places. I personally enjoy the grilled basket--oh and for sides, if you like fries, Texas toast, or slaw, you are in luck. Not much else!
Otter's does have a little variety though--you can get a chicken finger wrap sandwich, or just between bread. They also serve salads--you guessed it, chicken fingers over lettuce. Not my standard choice, but I've definitely checked it out. All solid choices as well!
I also recommend the Otter's sauce...not sure what's in it, but I'm sure there is mayo, some spices, possibly some ketchup...sounds gross but trust me it's awesome. Other dippers offered are BBQ, ranch, honey mustard, and buffalo.
Bottom line--like chicken? Go to Otter's. Great for groups, they have a patio, they like kids, and they also serve some cold beer.
If you like chicken this place isn't hard to beat. Everything is based around what kidn of chicken you want; grilled, fried or buffalo. I personally like the fried but usually go for the grilled. Once you choose how your cooking your chicken then you decide if you want straight tenders, a sandwich, a wrap (my fav) or a salad. The tenders come in a variety of meals with fries, etc. I personally don't care for their fries, but that's just my preference. It's usually busy during weekday lunches but not too crowded. I really love their fried pickles with ranch too but they only serve them at dinner. Parking is usually a pain, as it is always is on Demonbruen. Ooh, and they have a great student discount.
Otter's is a great place for a quick lunch. I always get Combo #1: Two tenders, fries, and a slice of Texas Toast. The chicken tenders are good; maybe not as good as you might go in expecting being that it's their specialty. But still, good. I think my favorite thing about Otter's is their fries. You rarely find places that serve crinkle cut (a shame!) but Otter's does. And they are mighty fine, especially dipped in Otter's sauce (like a spicy ranch). It's not all unhealthy though... You can get grilled tenders, a salad or a wrap if you're counting calories. Oh, and they have a patio. When I have lunch at any of the Demonbreun strip restaurants, I like to sit on the patio and play a game of "Spot the guys who work in the music industry that have somehow fooled themselves into thinking they are cool because they work on Music Row, but are indeed - NOT - cool". Try it. It's fun.
Otter's has amazing buffalo chicken strips compared to other places in Nashville. It's made to order and is generous in sauce and amount of chicken. Each strip must be atleast half a chicken breast in size.
They also offer free refills which is great if your eating the buffalo version. I have been to Otter's for both lunch and dinner and they are often busy, but that's because they tend to consistently deliver quality.
Though no one will ever convince me that this place is better to McDougal's (I am much to loyal to the place that I call chicken church) Otter's is pretty fantastic. I'm not a big fan of the fact that Otter's is always flooded with people that make me wait for my food when all I want is fried deliciousness in my mouth, but its jam packed for a reason. I decided to go rouge once and go for their grilled chicken strips instead of fried and was really pleasantly surprised at how delicious they were. I will go ahead and stray from my royalty to McDougal's for a second a say that Otter's has some really great fries that definitely beat McDougal's. Though McDougal's has their house sauce, which is bar none my favorite, Otter's ranch is definitely following closely behind. No joke, as I write this review, I'm tempted to go to Otter's to get some fried chicken.
Here's my quam with Otter's : If you're going to be bold enough to bill yourself as a restaurant that SPECIALIZES in something as basic and universally available as Chicken fingers, you had better do them better than anyone else does. If you're a Nashville restaurant specializing in Croatian food or something, you have some wiggle room, but when you're located in the picky-eater, fried food capital of the world, you better bring your a-game when it comes to chicken tenders.
Otter's is good, sometimes even great, but it's not the best in town, and I just kind of find that unacceptable. It's pretty busy in here during lunch, with Otter's being steps away from Music Row and all, and it's not uncommon to spot a famous face or two. The grilled tenders are great, and the fries are okay, though definitely nothing special. If you're a chicken lover I recommend Maniac's over Otter's.
Oh, and don't make the mistake of assuming "they have to have other stuff besides chicken fingers." If Chicken fingers is not in the ingredient lit, it's not here!
