Love Oslo I can never get sick of their lattes.
Great muffins and bagels too which is perfect for breakfast
Only wish they would have had wifi.. they would have gotten another star for that -

Surly hipster bitch behind the counter makes my espresso taste like cancer. I've had about 5 terrible experiences with this malignant strumpet now.
Guess what, bitch? I can draw anything on top of a latte with steamed milk too. You're not special, sweetheart. And when I did it for a job, I sure as sugar syrup didn't yack back at my customers.
Don't give me attitude for not tipping you, either. When I don't tip you, it's 'cos your service sucked ass.
I'll be a regular at Toby's Estate once it opens next month. In the mean time I'll be making a lot of mess at the milk station for you to clean up.
You WILL clean up my spilt coffee, you WILL mop up the simple syrup on the floor, you WILL experience liquids in the garbage leaking onto your jeans when you take out the trash for the night and you WILL enjoy it.
Good riddance.
EDIT:
Oh, and PS, every time my friend gets her Ice Tea, it spills on her shirt. Sort that out. -

Maybe it was the "Visualize Ballard" bumper sticker behind the counter that endeared me to this place or just the very good Americano. But the owner is a Seattle boy (my hometown) and it's always great to run into a transplant.
Comfortable atmosphere with benches out front. good coffee. friendly staff. A nice little spot to land. -

Oslo has very good coffee, and the staff is very pleasant. The main problem I have with Oslo is the owner, who seems to think he owns the place -- often walking in and bumping into customers and not even seeming to notice -- he once walked a filthy bicycle tire right into my leg without apparently being the wiser. Most annoying, though, are his kids -- whose annoying practices he actively abets.
It is not uncommon for him to place his three year old on top of the communal table. The kid's shoes are on the table! Where people eat! Isn't that, like, some sort of breach of basic hygiene! Some of the customers seem to think the owner does all of this out of passive-aggressive spite, and their argument is persuasive. I just don't understand how anyone can give each of these small children a large doughnut, or croissant, every day. Isn't that, like, poisonous even for adults? Predictably, after consuming these large treats, the children go haywire. What is especially irritating, is that their parents make virtually no effort to mitigate their ear-piercing shrieks, or to stop their incessant toy-throwing games.
Frequently, in the afternoons and on weekends, the owners' children, along with other toddlers, run around literally screaming as their oblivious parents drink coffee and chat. It is a tremendously annoying spectacle. What is wrong with these people?
Anyway, if you want to drink a cup of coffee in a cafe, and not in a nursery school, stay away form Oslo. -

There are lots of good coffee shops in the neighborhood. Oslo is my favorite though because if you buy a pound of beans you get your choice of coffee drink for free -- whatever you want. Gimme, which is located a block away, only gives you a small drip coffee for buying a pound. Boo. Go Oslo!

Good coffee. Strong but not very bitter. They don't provide sleeves for the cups, having you burn your hands (that goes for both Brooklyn locations, assholes!)
Space is okay, but not very comfy. In the summer, it gets stuffy and the tables are always a little bit sticky.
Price is good. 1.50 for a small, and I don't tip the very unfriendly barsitas. -

5 STARS for the Coffee and the quality of their beverages. The taste of the coffee is stellar, flavorful and delicious.
5 STARS for the locations. Both locations are centrally located in Williamsburg, within walking distance from subways and nestled in the hipster shopping district.
2 STARS for the service. I have found that whenever i go to this place, the baristas tend to be a bit pretentious, and not very friendly. Maybe because they have a lot of people coming in and out all day, it's a busy spot, but still no reason to be pretentious. Intelligentsia, Gimme!Coffee! all get busy and they still manage to be really nice to their customers, You can keep the lines moving and still be amicable with your clientele.
2 STARS for the fact that they only accept CASH. No credit cards here.
3 STARS OVERALL RATING: Coffee is amazing! i will take the subway from Manhattan just to get my coffee here at least once during my visits to New York. -

Three strikes, you're out. I tried, repeat tried, to go their new location on the UES three times. Each time it was closed. They say on their website "Open late summer". It's now the middle of October and I think they opened two days ago. I went there today, since their website says they are open till 7pm. At a quarter to four I saw the barista locking the door.
I asked, if they were not open till 7pm as the website states. I got a shrug in return. The door remained locked.
Oslo: don't make it hard for people to buy from you! Update your freaking website with accurate hours and stick to them. I'm not going back because I shouldn't have to try to give a business my money three times. I'll go somewhere else that has better customer service. Plus, it's not like you'll get a ton of walk-by customers in that area so you really should treat those people who do go out of their way to get there better. -

Oslo had a lot of potential to be one of the lucky places that I was going to end up loving...unfortunately that feeling went away after a few sips.
It was a super hot day and I saw some people walking in and out of Oslo on Roebling St. and figured that I should join in on this hydration party. I ordered the Hibiscus tea which was a beautiful reddish-fuschia looking drink. It tasted amazing at first but after around halfway I started tasting the after-taste and could not continue. I don't know if it was just my particular taste buds but even with the deathly weather, I still wasn't down to continue drinking it.
The place was also a bit messy in an empty way? I know it's a casual coffee place but the chairs and magazines were a bit all over the place.Listed in: Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The…

I often go to get my morning cup of coffee and an almond croissant. Even my friend who comes to visit every other week from Pennsylvania became a fan of this spot.
The regular coffee's great. The one thing that really stands out is the soy latte. I also like how they make a cute decorative design with the foam. It's so sad sometimes to have to drink the coffee and destroy the artwork they did.
The ambience is amazing and my ritual is to sit down on the benches under the japanese pine trees and enjoy every single sip. While in the winter, it's nice to sit down at the large table and read the new york times.
The service is nice, always friendly and welcoming, i feel very comfortable and relaxed here. unlike the b*tches at saltie coffee who make you feel like you committed a crime just by trying to walk in and give them your money. they make you miserable!!! not oslo, they make me happy. :)

Well, I haven't had their coffee, because I often bring my computer to coffee shops. When a cafe purposely doesn't allow you to plug in your computer so you can't stay & use their internet or continue to purchase items (& tip!) & think it's funny when you ask them (pretentious baristas - get over working in Williamsburg!) the obvious message is 'you're welcome to enjoy our beverages, you're just not welcome to stay.' Later!

I love going to Oslo because it's the only Americano that literally tastes like candy in my mouth. Sometimes a barista will pull one a little off, but mostly they're champs. I used to be a barista myself at a small gourmet shop too, so I'm super-appreciative of someone who can work that kind of magic. Plus, good beans.
I'd give 5 stars except that their regular coffee for some reason is not delicious at all when you buy it there. If I make it at home, or when I had it once at M. Wells in LIC, it's good - maybe they burn it somehow?
The baristas themselves are generally like other small-shop baristas: non-talkative, business-like, and uber-hipster. One girl who recently started working there smiles a bit more - love her.
They've got Blue Sky Bakery goods, and recently started carrying new and exciting looking pastries as well. They don't toast bagels - that's sad, but I've heard that that's sortof a no-no for real NY bagels anyways. -
Review from Liz C.
Unlike every quippy girl food reviewer, I like my coffee the OPPOSITE of how I like my men, which is why Oslo's rich, hot, strong coffee ($1.50ish for drip; ~$3 for fancies) suits me just fine.
To boot, ample copies of the Times are strewn over its communal table, which lures in the timid, tepid, reedy types of men that I DO like. Unfortunately, NO wireless internet, NO ambiance, NO couches, and an obstinate front door do not a comfortable nesting cafe make; pop in, pop out, and check Missed Connections from the office.Listed in: The next stop is Bedford…

The whole office goes on coffee runs throughout the day so I frequent this place. It's the best in the area that we know of but really not something I would go out of my way for.
Don't get me wrong--the coffee is pretty good and they have a good selection of pastries. I'm just not wowed. -

Living in Williamsburg, it is almost impossible not to see people walking around with their cute, white & navy blue Oslo cups every morning. I also live a block away from this location, so I feel like I witness them way more than the majority of 'burg residents.
I had been wanting to try this place for MONTHS...and when I did, it was glorious. I was getting sick of all the other coffee shops in the neighborhood and was itching for something new.
The only thing I order is the vanilla chai latte. I was pleasantly surprised that Oslo had flavor shots (because many coffee shops in Williamsburg don't), it made my day. It was delicious too!
The shop has 6 tiny round tables (good for one or two people) and one large table. It's not the kind of place that I want to spend much time at, but they do have a couple seating options outside. -

Long Beach, NY
I'll be honest I don't remember much about being there, partially because I was drunk and partially because I was drunk.
It's decor is simple and its speakers pumping out The Smiths. It's iced coffee, cold. It's hot coffee, hot. Everything else from that visit is pretty blurry and inconsequential. I do remember a discouraging long line having formed between us entering and us leaving. -
Review from Elle P.
I like my coffee the way I like my men -- dark, strong, and rich. And my search for the perfect cup of coffee in NY is like my search for the perfect man -- ever elusive, hunting down leads, countless disappointments and failures, and there have been heartbreak and frustrations. Surely it can't be this hard? In a city of infinite choices, I don't need all the choices, I just want the one that's right for me.
I noticed Oslo on the street. I was walking on my way to somewhere else and there was something about Oslo that caught my eye. A wistful thought crept into my mind, but I had to get going. Unintentionally (maybe subconsciously) I retraced my steps later and what do you know! I bumped into Oslo again. This time I didn't resist. I waltzed right in.
There's a clean, modern, Scandinavian feel to Oslo. It's uncluttered, sleek lines, and has a certain brightness that is emphasized by the large window at the front. I love the large table where several people can sit around and silently sip their coffee as they read the New York Times. Yes, Oslo made a very good first impression.
Those three qualities I stated earlier? Those aren't enough to keep me around. They're just the first steps to catch my eye. I require a certain complexity to my brew -- a certain sophistication and elan of knowing what you're doing and doing it very very well. I love small roasteries that roast their own beans. I bought the 1/2 lb of House blend just to try it out; I didn't want to commit to anything more just in case it turned out badly. The plain paper bag package, shall we say, was on the modest side, but let's face, it's the performance that counts. Did Oslo perform?
After my first cup of coffee, yes, I was well-satisfied. The House Blend is nicely balanced with a deep full body that I liked. A little nutty (just to make things a little interesting), but has an underlying sweetness to it. It's indeed a cup that I look forward to waking up to in the morning.
My only wish is that Oslo were in Astoria so I could make many more visits. -

Mmm. Coffee. I usually roll by here halfway between the gym and work. It's just good coffee. Rich, bold, flavorful. It's like you can taste the bean.
Hang out with the dogs and folks on the benches outside. It's the way to start the day. -

Oslo, dude, good coffee. Man, who would've thunk Vikings would make a mean cup of coffee? Pillage and sail through stormy cold waters? def. But a hot cup of coffee just waiting and ready for you?
hmm... actually, now that I think about it, Oslo in Brooklyn, serves a cup of coffee that tastes better than the cups i sipped in Oslo, Norway. But, I digress. Back to the review
The store is beautiful with large windows and a sturdy farm table in the center. These torches, er, touches really add to a warm and open community feel. Sorry, still in the pillaging mindset.

hey, im not a grump here. I dont want them to get sued and then have to leave me! They can't exactly exact revenge on a lawsuit with swords and whatnot. -

Cute place. Very good iced coffee. Every neighborhood should have a place like this.
Well, mine has Milk Bar (which doesn't roast its own coffee, though.)
But in Williamsburg, I think Oslo is a very good choice. So nice I went here twice in one day. -
Review from Sean S.
After riding my bike around brooklyn looking for new third wave spots, I starting getting the feeling that I'd have to ask more questions before ordering.
So I walked into Oslo, and despite seeing the right machines behind the counter, I asked the barista if he could pull a short shot. I like a ristretto espresso. Sure he replied. Encouraging sign.
Well I'm happy to say that what came across the bar was a very very good looking shot. Creamy and thick with lots of crema. A+ espresso!
The place is situated on a good corner at Roebling & 4th. There's a good vibe in there of chillout, and sunny Saturday leisure. I like it.
There seem to be quite a few other espresso places in bkln, so I'm on a quest now! -

I honestly don't understand the hype. Coffee was extremely hot. When I get a cup of coffee, I want to start sipping it right away. Not recommended here unless you want to get burned. The space seems a bit plain, a common round table, "shelves" by the storefront, and not enough chairs for more than 3 people.
I'll stick to my Dunkin' Donuts coffee, black, no sugar please. Or when I want to get fancy, I'll go to my secret crack-infused coffee joint for the 4pm pick-me-up.Listed in: My Neighborhood

I prefer this location to the one on the south side (they are actually not very far from one another). The coffee is good at both spots but this one has a lot more space to sit and read the Times or whatever periodicals they have lying about...This morning I leafed through a copy of ARTnews that Oslo subscribes to and learned about a Warhol and a Basquiat exhibit. I also like just sitting on the bench outside the shop and reading the paper with my coffee.
And the staff is very nice and smiley.Listed in: Hangin' in Brooklyn, yo., Gotta get my caffeine fix...

Believe it or not, if you want decent cofee in Williamsburg it's no easy feat. When I first moved here I used to frequent the Verb Cafe, but after an out-of-town friend got barked at by a cashier (don't ask) and the overall lackluster taste of the bands there, I was on the hunt for a new coffee spot.
Oslo's coffee is super strong and delicious. If you can't afford to go out for coffee every day, you can buy a huge bag of the Thor house blend of beans for nine bucks and it'll keep you stocked for weeks. Oh, also, the staff is super knowledgeable and not nearly as pretentious as anything on Bedford Ave.Listed in: My Neighborhood

Review from Joi B.
Let's see. You have Williamsburg, make that the Northside of Williamsburg. Besides bars being 2 or 3 to a block, not to mention those useless novelty stores where you can spend 100 bucks on an ugly all-weather scarf, what else is there a whole fucking hell of a lot of?! Cafes. So, you'd think that the owners of these places would instruct their "fresh faced" staff to be a bit more accomodating to the R&R customer (that's "rational and reasonable," ok?) so that they don't hoof it over to the cafe with marginally LESS snotty employees two feet away.
Oslo usually has been A-OK (3 1/2 stars), and maybe the other day it was just because of the insane heat and humidity and the fact that they don't have A/C in there, but, not only did I get an argument over what cup size four shots of iced espresso should go in, but after paying for it and even stating that I'd pay extra for the large cup so that it could be filled with MORE ice (yes, it really was about 95 degrees on Saturday and I'd like my iced espresso to remain ICED), they still fucked up my order. It took two baristas to do this and they've both perfected the same vacant stare, as well.
Not sure if I feel like braving this place ever again, especially if I god forbid want something outlandish like the wrong cup size for an Americano or something.
Also, the espresso tasted bitter as hell.Listed in: Java Jive, NYC

I just had to give props to Oslo AGAIN, since I'm an everyday customer to their other store on Bedford.
Dudes are WAY cool, let me say first off... and nothing would matter if the coffee wasn't amazing. Just read my other review, and you'll know what's up.
This place is best NYC coffee hands down. -
Review from Kevin K.
Brooklyn, NY
A nearby coffee house is a small, good thing. At least it can be. It is also, today, a rare thing. With the sprawl of Starbuck's, the comfortable propinquity of a neighborhood café has become as endangered as the cobbler, the knife sharpener or the watch repairman. So I am fortunate to be about 50 strides from one of the best coffee houses in Brooklyn. Or am I cursed?
Oslo Coffee Co. has two locations: the first is a large store strewn with magazines and tables and woven by well-traversed airiness on Roebling Avenue in south Williamsburg; the second is a small shop with bar minimalist bar seating in north Williamsburg, on Bedford, near my apartment. The baristas move between the two workplaces with surprising fluidity. This gives each shop familiarity and allows me to tip on a can-do basis, alternating change and dollar bills to ensure an even 25% that, I believe, baristas deserve. This also means that the baristas I find infelicitous and fickle pop into my life when I would have them elsewhere.
This is a problem. Oslo has at least three baristas who, if I see them and can make it to the next point in my life without extracurricular stimuli, deter my patronage. And this is painful. Oslo makes my second favorite espresso drink: a cortado. Other places can make it, but Oslo advertises their skill in this area and thereby encourages one to enjoy this creamy drink. A cortado is an espresso tempered with steamed milk without foam. Oslo adds a bit of decorative foam for the efficacy of foam art, a leaf or a heart, but the steamed milk cuts the acidity of espresso deliciously.
When I see the barista whose sobriquet will be "J" I saunter in and enjoy his cheerful banter; when I peer in and witness the barista who will be called "X" I speed my gate and usually settle for a frustration and discontent.
Occasionally, I order an iced coffee drink. Oslo has the best Iced Coffees, and they seem prouder of those than their cortado. The iced latte is a real treat made with organic, Clover brand milk. Iced coffee and café au lait is made with chilled coffee so that the buyer is not left with a watered down drink. There are also specials such as the curious "rocket" which claimed to bear four espresso shots in a coffee with steamed milk and caramel. I passed that experiment in re-animation alchemy but found it utterly fascinating. "J" informed me it was quite popular.
The espresso is delicious, but Oslo does not roast their own beans, so they are dependent on the selection and quality of their purveyors. The product is consistent, however. The macchiato is served with a careful dollop that melts like butter in thick, earthenware espresso cups that keep the aromatic brew at the proper temperature throughout drinking and idling.
Oslo sells coffee by the pound and can grind to taste in an antique grinder that comes straight out of a Felini film. T-shirts of inscrutable purpose (Japanese bunny-people printed on teal Ts escape my interpretive skills and perhaps the skills of anyone less than Chomsky or Bloom) sell at a glacier pace. J had never sold one and seemed surprised that they were still pinned up to the wall, like archaic ciphers or graffiti hieroglyphs.
Besides the HR problems, Oslo is a real boon. In many ways their shady hiring policies serve to monitor my coffee intake and that fiscal category I fail to monitor: out-of-pocket, unexpected necessities. -

On mornings that I have to go to work before Oslo's opens my whole day is off. This is by far the best coffee in the neighborhood. And I am a tuff critic.
If I were to say anything negative about Oslo's it would be that the atmosphere isn't so great but really thats not gonna stop me or any other coffee lover from going there. -

Five stars for:
1. handing me one of the best cups of coffee I have had in New York City.
2. having a large, open and bright space. There are many tables to sit at without it being too overcrowded.
3. not having any outlets, which prevents all of the unemployed hipsters of Williamsburg to spend their days lounging around on their MacBook Pros.
4. friendly enough clientele. People here are considerate.
Minus one star for:
1. employing some of the rudest and most condescending people. With the exception of many one or two workers, the staff here is just down-right unfriendly. -

FINALLY the South side has some good coffee. I've been living on south 2nd for 3 years and although I love supercore they're not open for early morning weekday coffee needers like me. Good coffee, friendly staff...though I wouldn't recommend trying to get in here in the morning. Not only is the line long, there are about 1000 artists and people with seemingly no job sitting outside talking about god knows what at like 10-11am! I can't even form a sentence at that time never mind take the time to go meet up with my friends and have a cup of coffee.
The hot chocolate here is good too, but $4 for a large cup of foamed milk and some chocolate syrup is a bit much. -

There's obviously no question that Oslo has the best coffee in Williamsburg. They won't tell you where it's from or who roasts it, so don't bother asking. If you're a regular, they notice, and throw highly valuable "free drink" cards your way, redeemable for a latte or a quick ristretto shot - which is good, because Brooklyn coffee prices are approaching Manhattan-scale, and it adds up.
Stay away on weekend mornings, unless you like to take your coffee with all the hipster families in Williamsburg, and their screaming, free-roaming kiddies. I know I do. -

Who knows why, but I end up liking this place a bit more than the other Oslo location closer to me house. Maybe it's the different vibe off decor. Who knows. Lattes are decent. Still a bit thinner than I have come to like, but it's still purty good.
In the grand scheme of the treasure hunt for greatest lattes ever, it isn't really making my underwear seem too small. -

I've spent the last 2 years or so wondering why my dad drove all the way into Williamsburg to buy coffee. And by "all the way," I mean from midway through Long Island... a good hour away. The supermarket's offerings always sufficed when I was still around. Now, please don't get me wrong... I'm very particular about my java. I'm that "type" that prefers spending the extra $5 for my Venti Starbucks over a large Dunkin' Donuts brew anyday of the week. Black with 2 Splenda... when I'm feeling dangerous, a little soy milk.
Well, after moving into town about 2 1/2 weeks ago, I decided to venture over to Oslo to see what the hype was all about. Let me just tell you: THOR is what it's about. Just as the name implies, I feel as if the God of Thunder hits my body with every sip. What a way to wake up.
Sorry, Starbucks, but you'll never touch my 2 travel mug drip coffee maker again. Or at least as long as I'm within 1 hour of Thor.Listed in: Caffeine Junky

You would think that living in the mecca of all things "cool" (which it isnt), that finding a good cup of coffee or tea would be easy.
Sure you will try verb and realize that the attitude of the employees is one part diva, two parts failing artist, and that their coffee is mostly burnt and that its more of a place to be seen working on your shitty novel than to actually enjoy a cup of joe.
Then you will find oslo. Sure its not right there on the neon sunglasses highway known as bedford avenue but the service is friendly. The coffee will make you feel like you've been in the bathroom with sketchballs at lit til 6am and the earl grey is to die for.
